A St George’s Day Contribution by Batiushka for The Saker Blog
Introduction: War
I am not a technical-military man, but I have very strong military connections and a keen interest in military history, both Russian and Western, and also in geopolitics, having lectured on it. I lived in Soviet Russia in the 1970s, experienced its weaknesses, its strengths and also its hollowness, understanding that it would eventually fall, for even then nobody believed in Communism any more. All continued by inertia. Collapse was inevitable. I also know contemporary Russia, the Ukraine, Belarus, the Baltics and Moldova very well. In fact, I was in Kiev only last October, being shown the SBU/CIA Secret Police building in the centre and being told to hush my voice as we walked past. No-one wanted to visit the torture-chambers in the basement.
The special operation to free the Russian Donbass from Fascist oppression which began on 24 February 2022 meant a war between the Russian Federation and the Kiev regime, which under Western pressure would refuse to back down. This would inevitably mean a war between Russia and NATO, even if the actual battleground would still be limited to the Ukraine. I firmly believe that the Russian government knew all this and foresaw the consequences, that the West would intervene with all the economic, political, military and technological might of the US/NATO military complex. This knowledge was why the Donbass had had to wait for liberation for eight long and grim years. Russia had had to get ready for the inevitable very carefully.
The Preparation
Let us recall how Soviet Russia fell through treason, ending up dissolving itself on 25 December 1991. In October 1993, 4,000 US Marines (I know one of them) were flown to a base outside Moscow. This was just in case the popular rising against ‘democracy’ and the drunkard Western puppet and traitor Yeltsin went Russia’s way and against the neocons and their privatisers’ ‘shock therapy’. The repression of the October bid for freedom left 5,000 Russian dead. The US support had been there, though it did not have to be used, as there were enough Russian traitors to do the dirty deed themselves.
Russian weakness and internal treachery was why the Russian government betrayed Serbia in the 1990s and Libya in 2011 – it was far too weak to stand up to the West. After the Crimea democratically returned to Russia after 60 years (1954-2014) with the internationally-observed referendum in 2014, the West still applied illegal sanctions to Russia. Then Moscow knew that any action to free the Ukraine from the Western junta in Kiev would have to be prepared very carefully, for the sanctions would only be multiplied. What preparations had to be made?
Firstly, there was the diplomatic and trade front. Allies had to be brought onside, in Eurasia with China, Iran, India, Turkey (Russia rescuing Erdogan from the US assassination attempt at the last moment in July 2016), Hungary, then, from Venezuela to Brazil, Latin America and then, from Egypt to South Africa, Africa. As regards the Western world, especially the EU, there was a chance to present the Russian point of view through RT, as at that time Western censorship was not yet total.
Secondly, there was the modernisation of the Russian Armed Forces to be undertaken, with new, non-nuclear weapons, hypersonic missiles, drones, electronic technology, some of which would be tested out in Syria.
Thirdly, there was the policy of import substitution to be implemented in order to make Russia independent in case of further illegal Western sanctions.
Why Did It Start on 24 February 2022?
There were four triggers which sparked off the special operation on 24 February.
Firstly, the Zelensky regime wanted the Ukraine to become a NATO member. The weak post-Communist Russian Federation had already made that mistake many times, allowing Eastern Europe, notably the Baltics, Poland and Romania, to join that aggressive protection racket. In that way the post-War buffer states of Eastern Europe, providing a demilitarised zone for Russia, ended. After all, if you have been invaded from the West very regularly for 800 years, leaving 27 million of your citizens dead in the most recent invasion, would you not also want a demilitarised buffer zone to protect you? Post-War offensive NATO was the only reason why the defensive Warsaw Pact had to be set up.
Secondly, with missiles on American bases in Poland and Romania and NATO troops smugly parading at the Estonian border with Russia, the Ukraine then threatened to obtain nuclear arms. Did Zelensky, reading his American script as a true actor, really expect Russia not to react to this?
Thirdly, the US, not without the help of its local pronconsul, the cocaine-addled Hunter Biden, had set up some thirty biolabs in the Ukraine. Their target? To find genetically-concocted viruses to infect Russians. Would Russia not defend itself?
Fourthly, though possibly this may not have been discovered by Russia until a day or two after the special operation began, though possibly they knew perfectly well beforehand, the NATO-manipulated, instructed and armed Kiev Army had a plan to invade the Russian Donbass and genocide its people. Had they succeeded, it is doubtful they would have stopped at the Russian border. Truss, the supremely stupid British Foreign Secretary, let slip that NATO already had Russian Rostov and Voronezh in its sights.
After eight years of attempts to negotiate, which Russia used to buy time to prepare for the War in case of Western idiocy, it was only because there was no alternative that it sent in some troops in an initially limited military operation.
A Fight for Survival
This is now a war of attrition. Russia has to destroy all Western/NATO arms and troops that get into the Ukraine from Poland or elsewhere as soon as possible, quicker than they can be sent. And this must go on until the West caves in, because so much Western war material will have been destroyed at huge financial loss to itself.
Russia is also relying on the self-imposed economic problems that the West faces. The West, and not just the EU, is already suffering economically. There could easily be popular uprisings as a result of inflation and the incredible cost of energy. This will hit very hard next autumn and winter. And the embargos on Russian grain and fertilisers have not hit yet. Wait till food costs go up by 100% in Western countries, instead of just going up by 10% as now: then you will have rioting in the streets and looting of supermarkets. As for the Ukrainian currency, it is worthless, propped up by the IMF run by the US, which in 2014 stole the $15 billion of Ukrainian gold reserves in expectation. Otherwise, the Ukraine would long ago have defaulted.
The stakes are huge for all. China stands behind Russia because Russia is like a shield for it. If Russia falls, then China is next and it knows that, which is why it supports Russia. The White Peril will next head towards China, making the British-imposed mass suicide of the so-called ‘Opium Wars’ look like a picnic. There will be no taking back of Taiwan in the near future, instead there will be Harvard economists and merchant bankers taking power and grasping billions in Beijing, as in Russia after 1991. And then, amid civil wars, millions and millions of Chinese will take the path of suicide, exactly as happened in 1990s Russia. Make no mistake, this is a battle for survival of the world’s seven billion against the one billion.
This is why today Russia remains firm, with 80% of the population behind President Putin, unlike in the Western world where it is rare to find a leader who has more than 30% of support. Why? It is simple: President Putin loves his country, he is a patriot: Western leaders are not patriots, they are venal mercenaries, no more so than the US puppet governments in Eastern Europe. The only Russians against President Putin are the traitors, recruited by the CIA, and there are still quite a few in Moscow and elsewhere, but we will not here name names.
True, many of the fifth column of traitors in Moscow have already left or are leaving, Tel Aviv being a popular destination for them. For Russia this is not some localised conflict on its borders, as it still appears to most Western people, lulled into delusions by their Goebbels propaganda ministries (‘media’). For Russia this is just as much a fight for survival as World War Two. This is the Third Great Patriotic War. Let me explain.
For those who do not know, the 1812 invasion of Russia by Napoleon and his multinational barbarian hordes is known as the First Patriotic War. The 1941 invasion by Hitler and his multinational barbarian hordes is known as the Second Patriotic War. It is our view that just as the 1941-1945 defensive War was called the Second Patriotic War, the 2022- ? defensive War will be known as the Third Patriotic War. Warsaw and Bucharest, Berlin and Paris, pay attention.
When Did It All Begin?
When did it all begin? Actually, it was not on 24 February 2022. Some, grudgingly, will admit that it was the US-run regime change of 2014 with its $5 billion price-tag for the hapless US taxpayer. Grudgingly, some might admit that it goes back even further to November 1989, the Fall of the Wall. Some might suggest two generations before that, in September 1939, when Stalin took the poison-chalice of the western Ukraine, Galicia, from Poland and had to fight a CIA-supplied war there against Fascist partisans until 1958.
Some might suggest exactly 100 years ago in 1922, when the brain-syphilitic Lenin transferred from Russia the southern and eastern half of the present Ukraine to the Ukraine, as he wanted the pro-Communist industrial proletariat of the south and east to counterbalance the real Ukrainian agricultural north and west. But we could also go back to 1914, the invasion of the Russian Empire by Germany, Austria-Hungary and Turkey. This is exactly 100 years before the 2014 US-orchestrated colour-revolution in Kiev, with its Lithuanian snipers on the roof of the American Embassy in Kiev murdering Ukrainian policemen and then the US blaming ‘repression’ on the democratically-elected pro-Russian government.
Conclusion: A Fight to the End
Russia must win this War against NATO. However, the last thing Russia wants is a nuclear war, however much some fools in the West talk that up. And however tempting as targets the 1,000 or so US bases around the world may be, Russia certainly does not want the war to spread outside the current Ukrainian territory. If Russia does not win, the Russian Federation will be humiliated and dismantled and become just another group of colonies for Western asset-strippers and slavers. Then the British dream for its 1917 coup d’etat, turned into a nightmare because the stupid dream permitted Bolshevism to come to power, will become real.
After that, China will fall next and then the rest of the still free, if for the moment impoverished and exploited, world will fall just like dominos into neo-colonial Western hands. And that will be the end of the world under a US Global Dictatorship, euphemistically known as ‘the Unipolar World’. We are not ready for that. We prefer to fight. As President Putin has said, a world without Russia is not one we wish to live in. As we have said before, this is our ONLY chance to work towards a Union of Sovereign (NOT Soviet) Social (NOT Socialist) Republics and an Alliance of countries which favour Prosperity and Justice, not Poverty and Injustice.
Russian Orthodox St George’s Day 2022
I would wish that more people had the understanding but above all the fire you have in your heart, it might change the world! Your words are very inspiring!
Putin is a patriot? Is that why Russia followed and continues to follow WHO and WEF dictates wrt the “pandemic” by cattle-tagging its citizens? Is that why Russia’s central bank is a member of the IMF and their little darling was just renominated by Patriot Putin for another five-year term?
Putin may be a patriot. But the question is, to whom? Certainly not the Russian citizens.
Nothing and no one will be perfect.
As for the W.E.F., he was kicked out.
Just because he joined that organization, which most important countries have, doesn’t mean he is corrupted. In reality, nothing will ever be that neat.
Case in point: Ever seen the movie, “Braveheart?”
Robert the Bruce fought William Wallace on behalf of the English king, yet he led the Scots to victory at Bannockburn, and secured Scottish independence. There’s no reason Putin can’t be the one to dismantle the corrupt world order.
There’s also the issue of Russia having a different perspective than the West. The Russians are concerned with issues we don’t really understand, like the perpetual fear of invasion from the West. Also, they have their own vaccine, which is a traditional vaccine, and doesn’t contain the possibly dangerous, gene therapy of the West.
Putin has:
1. Restored Christ as King. That automatically sets him apart from the various satanic, international organizations, and all communists.
2. Prevented grooming and the spread of perversion in Russia.
3. Asserted Russia’s will against the West militarily.
Putin is often incorrectly identified by Westerners. Some want to claim he is no different than the anti-white racists of the West, which is ridiculous. Granting protection to Russia’s minorities, IN THEIR OWN HISTORICAL HOMELANDS, is in no way similar to inviting in hordes of hostile invaders designed to overthrow society.
Also, the Central Asian Muslims in Russia, are much less fanatical in belief than SOME of their counterparts to the South. They are nothing like the masses of North African migrants filling the “No-Go” zones of France.
Putin’s policy towards ethnic minorities, is very similar to Reagan’s policy towards the American Indian Nations. They are granted security in their historic homelands, and can protect their individual cultures, with government help. That is in no way disenfranchising the Russian people, unlike mass immigration in every single, Western country.
Thank-you. I was beginning to wonder if the moderators on these SAKER blogs were anti-God. I believe it’s obvious that Andrei the Saker is a christian. But since his sabbatical for health reasons I’ve had two of my comments mentioning God “disapeared”.
The real reason the Global Elite hate Russia’s leader Putin is because as leader of one of the two main nuclear powers on earth Putin has declared that homosexual marriage is a lie and a crime against God, and he has overseen a law making it illegal in Russia. He has also overseen a law making it a crime to instruct and indoctrinate children in homosexuality. And last but not least he has encouraged the reduction of abortions in Russia to half by 2025.
These are “sacred cow’ areas of the “reprobate minds” of the Global Elite that they believe they have won eternal victory in, and it messes with their sanity to have the leader of a country with the power and standing of Russia hold a mirror up to their faces and declare that these things are sinful evils.
More of a fanboy diatribe than a serious analysis but enjoyable and thought provoking all the same.
Sir, do you have anything by way of a serious rebuttal of what he had to say then? Something you’d be willing to go into more detail than your dismissal would suggest you do? I’m thinking not.
its seriousness is in its concise form as most peoples attention span is 2 mins
its all good
Cheers
yes correctly spotted. An excellent introduction for Ukie fanboys who couldn’t point to Ukraine on a map 10 weeks ago, who are maybe beginning to realise they have sided with fascists, Nazis and the worst scum of the western banking cartels. The entire western information sphere is now literally a billion memes glued together by utter bullsh*t and those with a few brain cells are beginning to tire of it and are perhaps either giving up or wanting to know how and why they have been so convincingly brainwashed in such a short space of time. For me the story is familiar and it now no longer matters, what matters is that Russian wins, that Eurasian integration becomes the 21st Century success story, the time is right and the time is now to win big. A weak America, a weak Europe, a suicidal EU and a collapsed and done for NATO its raison d’etre brutally exposed as weak, fallible and when it came to the vital moment, its 75 year mission, it collapsed and ran away! The scales for now dip in our favour in many ways but beware the snake and the scorpion (US and UK) who stumble on the edge of the abyss, they struggle and scramble and they lash out in fear for they know the end is near.
Martin Jacques: “At the heart of globalization is a new kind of intolerance in the West towards other cultures, traditions and values, less brutal than in the era of colonialism, but more comprehensive and totalitarian.”
Russia suffered many abuses since 1991. Gorbachev offered Reagan drastic reductions in nuclear weapons. Instead of negotiating treaties that destroy nuclear weapons using the most reliable and safest method, the negotiating table and verifiable treaties, Reagan chose ‘Star Wars’. Fantasy missile defences that will NEVER work properly. Not least was the generous offer to join NATO, which had it been taken would have put the Northern hemisphere under a single shared peaceful authority, with Russian influence. But of course, the US would not share power or voice with anyone. NAYOYO needed to manufacture an enemy to justify their corrupt military-industrial society.
William Casey (CIA Director 1981-1987): “We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.”
US – EU arrogant greed is such they believe the resources of the world are theirs to plunder with impunity, for any pitiful price they care to name. They could have strengthened Russia with a ‘Marshall Plan’ but instead sent Harvard liars to manipulate Russia into weakness and desperation. They could have insisted all the arms control treaties were necessary and wonderful. They could have demanded adherence to all the post-Warsaw Pact treaties. These treaties were violated with contempt for nuclear weapons control, Russian people, common human rights, and peace as the greatest accomplishment. This put the whole world at risk of extinction, or subjugation by goose-stepping morons.
Abraham Lincoln, “If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its authors.”
Russians must now oppose these barbarities with quiet strength and indomitable resolve. It will shock US people to realize that all they have been taught is a farcical lie. The West isn’t loved and protected by its leaders. Ukrainians aren’t plucky democratic freedom fighters. They are neo-Nazi monsters. NATO’s weapons and allies will not save them or make them rich and powerful. The rest of the world knows US lies, and regards US-OAS-NATO with angry contempt. They wish the US gone with humiliated shame.
Thomas Paine: ”To argue with a person who has renounced reason is like administering medicine to the dead.”
Russians have heard all the promises, watched the treaties signed and quickly ignored. They know of the racist genocides committed and planned. It won’t be the vacuous opinions of irrelevant Westerners that define this war. It will be blunt demands and brutal facts on the ground that define Ukraine’s public defeat. This war will end with NAYOYO humiliated, and Russian tanks shaking the ground at western borders.
“It will shock US people to realize that all they have been taught is a farcical lie. The West isn’t loved and protected by its leaders. Ukrainians aren’t plucky democratic freedom fighters. They are neo-Nazi monsters.”
And imagine your shock when you get over the farcical lies of your beloved TV and realise that Ukrainians aren’t neo-nazi monsters but real people, many of whom have friends and relatives in Russia, visit Russia regularly (and the other way around: plenty of students live in Belgorod and study in Kharkov), or ARE from Russia.
The regime in Kiev differs little from the bolshevik regime, almost entirely composed of jews, who also led the gulag camps. A foreign enemy.
The Ukrainians or Russians, in general, don’t hold any hatred towards each other or any other nationality, unlike for example Americans, who are far too easy to rally up to “nuke” the “nips”, the “gooks”, the “sand niggers” or other dehumanised enemies into “a sheet of glass”.
Check out this incredible video of a side by side comparison of Nazi Germany and contemporary Facist Ukraine. Actually everyone who has telegram should see this video

“An excellent introduction for Ukie fanboys who couldn’t point to Ukraine on a map 10 weeks ago”
Look, Boris: find me someone – anyone – who can point to such a map today!!
I can point to where it was.
And that’s the shape of the world today where profit is king where billions are sent to another country, so it can wage a war that benefits no one but the ones pushing it a few thousand miles away. Where said country with millions living in poverty where homeless camps dot every state care about no one but the 1% and their endless greed, while its infrastructure is falling down around their ears requiring some 3 trillion dollars to even bring it up to a passing grade. Not a very pretty picture is it, for only a revolution in said state will ever change it.
Is it really “fan boy-ism” or something much deeper?
We all here at the Saker blog have seen the Operation Z updates thanks to Nightvision and the 18+++ videos. Those videos are shocking, but they have a much greater significance, that often goes unnoticed.
The gruesome videos we see today will serve as guides, 80 years from now, for another generation of young relic hunters digging up their own backyards and sun flower fields:
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=excavating+german+soldiers
Every time I see a 18+++ video, I can’t help but be reminded what this will look like 80 years from now. If you watch enough of those excavation videos, the most memorable times are when the kids stumble upon World War I, Crimean War or Napoleonic Era relics.
So, it looks like the American Empire is in the process of adding another layer of corpses and war relics for future generations to discover.
Contrast that stark truth with the soaring rhetoric of the Bushes and Obamas, about a “New World Order”, “The End of History”, “Hope and Change”, “Yes, We Can”, “Change we can Believe” in, etc. Despite all of that the West could not sit down with Sergei Lavrov and find another way???
The only thing that has changed in the West is that the Intelligentsia now have laptops, iPhones and the internet, yet their thinking has not evolved since the Napoleonic Era.
There is something oddly comforting about the fact that “woke” American progressives are championing this war. That comfort comes from taking the “long view”: that nothing has has changed, that history is cyclic, and that those borders have always been determined by armed conflict are being so determined today. In other words, there are no unknowns, everything is predictable.
All of the truth one needs does not come from the rhetoric of Western leaders, but is buried under the sunflower fields of Southern Ukraine …if you can bear to look.
“Despite all of that the West could not sit down with Sergei Lavrov and find another way???”
The greatest truths lend themselves to eloquent expression. All their lofty lingo reduces to yet more empty marketing play. Oh that we could have an institution that establishes beyond any doubt, what is true and what is false.
What we get, the very best liars financed for cancelling anyone that would dare disagree with their assigned narrative, no matter how disgustingly, blatantly, evil.
Thanks again, well said!
‘If Russia does not win, the Russian Federation will be humiliated and dismantled and become just another group of colonies for Western asset-strippers and slavers.’
That immediate consequence may, perhaps, be regarded as the least significant from a longer-term global perspective of humanity in general. It has been said repeatedly that this is not actually a war between Russia and the Ukraine, but of Russia against the U.S. and NATO. In fact, I would see it even more broadly than that.
To me, it appears as just the most recent battle in an unending human struggle against evil forces. In other words, it’s more like a fight for the preservation of basic human values and decency against their ultimate defeat and collapse under purely economic and commercial interests of oligarchic “masters of the universe”. The latter may be designated as nazi, fascist, communist, “the devil”, or otherwise according to historic context and personal preference. It matters little. If they win, the survival of any human decency at all is questionable at best.
well said. I agree. completely
This is a war between good and evil.
No Lily, it´s a war started and directed by the 1% in the US and the west, it´s capitalism. They need war to solve their repetitive crisis.
Yes, Lily, you are absolutely right, it is a war between good and evil, between light and darkness, between humanity and in-humanity.
If Russia does not win everyone will lose.
The US and its proxies cannot stand up to Russia economically or militarily without resorting to nukes. If that happens both cease to exist, and likely much of the rest of the world as well.
This is an existential crisis for Russia. It is also an existential crisis for the west, but it does not seem that they have recognized that yet. The only hope I see is the collapse of the EU and NaziATO. But that is going to be an uphill battle as europen elections are as infilatrated and controlled as US elections.
That was great!
I like this mostly: ” a Union of Sovereign (NOT Soviet) Social (NOT Socialist) Republics and an Alliance of countries which favour Prosperity and Justice, not Poverty and Injustice.”
We did that in 1776 against “The City of London”. Unfortunately, they have weaseled their way back in control over us. Russian success in Ukraine will not only liberate Ukraine, but us (as in U.S.) also. We are in the middle of a Corporatist Coup attempt.
Weaseled?
Slithered from the swamp!
Slithered from the sewer.
Like Canadian General Trevor Cadieu caught in the Azovstal sewer?
Good comment. My sentiments as well.
We did that in 1776 against “The City of London”
astounding that ignorance of this magnitude is typical of the US citizenry. in 1776 “you” wanted not just a slice of the pie but the whole dam thing, so you could take all of the land and use it to expand slavery. Do not attempt to put a smiley face on genocide. I’m surprised you have taken the correct side in what Russia is doing against your Empire. What Putin is doing is completely unlike what “We did……in 1776” Putin is truly looking out for his people, at the same time showing as much restraint as possible for their brothers. Russia is doing what the US moneyed interests who founded the Empire of Lies only claimed to do in 1776. they are truly looking out for us all against what the US multinationals and its mindless followers continue to inflict upon Zone B.
It is so great to have the Vineyard over the years to be able to get these perspectives that are so carefully excluded from most discourse in the English speaking Anglo-American world.
I hope that by speaking up a bit during the SMO there might be some snippets of valuable knowledge transfer the other way, too, about political economy in the Five Eyes, especially North America. With that humility I would offer a couple correctives on framing for consideration:
First, the power structure doesn’t care about broad-based peace and prosperity for the citizenry in ‘the West’. For the intel folks, unending conflict is existential – as example, there is literally no Constitutional reason for the CIA to exist in peacetime in the US. For the banksters and armaments companies and chattering classes in the corporate media, it’s how they profit. That ordinary folks suffer in various ways simply doesn’t matter to the globalist fascists.
To put it bluntly, we have a police state so massive it would make the Stasi blush precisely so that hunger/homelessness/etc. and its attendant rioting impacts the plebes, not the ruling class.
Second, the RF isn’t fighting a billion westerners. That would be a different economic and military challenge. Instead, it’s up against a much smaller conglomerate of transnational psychopaths. They don’t care about their host countries. And, paradoxically, this means their reach is much bigger than 1 billion people. Many of the people in the 7 billion ultimately support (willingly or not) the empire.
It is not, to broadly generalize, some countries against other countries. Rather, it’s a ruling class that is supported across a wide swathe of the structures ruling the globe against the vast majority of peoples everywhere. It’s a whole new way of conceptualizing conflict and understanding the resource base that supports the established power structure.
The ‘value’ of the $5 billion spent on the Maiden coup, for example, didn’t come from taxing wealthy Americans (or others in the 1 billion). It came from huge numbers of companies and governments among the 7 billion who participate in the various systems of global activity that ultimately benefit the dollar-based globalist fascists in Zone A, from corporate friendly IP law to issuing debt denominated in dollars to abstaining rather than voting against plutocratic interests in international institutions (UN, IMF, WTO, interpol, etc.)
Most Americans know they’re getting screwed. They simply have no outlet for their voice. The question is if the rest of the world will stop doing business with the criminals so that their economic power base degrades enough for it to be possible for ordinary Americans to reclaim Constitutional governance.
Two things. Trust me, only a very small percentage of the 7 billion support America, those they’ve infected with their greed & evil.
You’re correct regarding ‘doing business’ with the cabal.
It’s sickening to know that Russia has increased its oil sales to the rouge regime during this period of conflict. I just cant get my head around this. Are they even required to pay in roubles? Putin needs to come clean on this, explaining the logic, even if he states Russia need the revenues. At least then I have the option of shutting off completely like most of the other sheep around me and not give a frig about the whole kabuki theatre.
Putin is a legalist and he wants to show the world that Russia is dependable. However, the spigot still MAY be shut off but at the time of Russia’s choosing.
Yes, Yes.
But I don’t buy it.
He’s had more than enough provocation including the goddamn theft of goddamn hundreds of billions so they have breached their contracts, end of story. Turn off the tap.
But he doesn’t.
It reminds me of Exxon tankers crossing the Atlantic without fear of being sunk by either side whilst supplying the German war machine with fuel with which to kill their own ostensible countrymen.
Something is fishy here…
(as is always the case with wars)
This war appeared to be the immoral vs. the amoral
until recent actions of Lavrov and Zakharova.
Now it is clearly the Good vs. Evil.

Who Carried Out the Maidan Massacre of February 20, 2014?
https://larouchepub.com/pr/2015/150216_maidan_massacre.html
References an interview with one of the snipers.
The model for this is the storming of the Bastille in Paris, 1789. Shooters used against a demo.
Nobody shot from the Bastille, you need to read real history.
i saw on live tv one of the maidan snipers in action; later i found a picture with the same person: it was a former danish SF operator with previous combat experience in Afghanistan.
Some were firing from the large hotel (Hotel Ukraine) in territory held by the CIA regime change artists. A BBC (UK major TV news) film crew were reporting on the Maidan, moved near the hotal and came under fire. They pinpointed the room the sniper was in whilst sheltering behind some stone pillars of a nearby building. The reporter was most perplexed that he, a great BBC man, would actually be targetted.

It is difficult to be at war with a country if you trade with them, and you are mutually dependent on each other. Seen this way, trade is an obstacle for war, and breaking trade links and seeking other suppliers is a prerequisite for war. This is what we are doing now.
It does not make sense for the European Union to cut itself off from Russian coal, gas and oil – the European Union cannot afford the cost, and rising energy prices would bankrupt their industry.
But what if all that is needed finding alternative suppliers for coal, gas and oil for the duration of a war with Russia? If you think you will be victorious and in the end Russia’s coal, gas and oil will be yours, a few months of high gas prices is acceptable cost.
Except that Russia will not lose the war. What then will become of the EU?
As the author correctly indicates; this not a war of slaughter, this is not a war of conquest. This is a war of logistics.
Russia must continue to destroy arriving NATO armaments before they can be effectively used against Russian and LPR/DPR forces.
Sadly Russia, through continued artillery bombardment, must also break the Ukrainian Army. An army that seems to increasingly be made up of men who should be looking towards their pension years rather than dying in trenches for the Anglo-American Empire of Lies.

Make no mistake about that!
”an Alliance of countries which favour Prosperity and Justice, not Poverty and Injustice.” Given that Russia is one of the most unequal of advanced countries, after 22 years of President Putin, doubt many will be flocking to this banner. I think I prefer the banner of Lenin! PS you forgot to mention the great imperialist invasion of Russia in 1918 on behalf of the Whites, which carried off 10 million. The defeated barbarian Whites then ran off to Germany to encourage another anti-Bolshevik imperialist invasion(Cf M.Kellogg, ”The Russian Roots of Nazism: White Emigres and the Making of National socialism 1917-1945”2005). Humanity is grateful to the old Soviet Union for its defeat of Hitler and Hirohito etc i.e.. by the society founded by the ‘brain -syphalitic” Lenin .No one is interested in a reconstituted Czarist Imperial Russia with its Saintly Czar and luxury-addicted orthodox clergy.
Ain’t history interesting tho we slaughtered millions of Native Americans to get their land and that was only the beginning as since we have slaughtered millions around the world for the profit and if Russia is the most unequal country in the land than surely we are racing to catch up to it. Socialism communism capitalism are nothing but the chains they bind you with, for there is not a nickle’s worth of difference between the three of them.
bluedogg
thank you for the acknowledgement of the slaughter of my people as the beginning and all those others slaughtered. God’s will, we all learn from the Empire of Lies terrible actions and all the chaings that bind us. Be blessed, friend.
Agree. I dont see the actual capitalist and ne-liberal Russia and its oligarcs suddenly “working” to people. They intend to continue to work for their interests.
One thing is the actual situation, where the global ocident is trying to defeat and dismember Russia, other thing is what is Russia today – a capitalist society and where capitalists and their government want to keep their benefits.
“Given that Russia is one of the most unequal of advanced countries, after 22 years of President Putin, doubt many will be flocking to this banner.”
Your point is unclear, Russia has a lower ‘Wealth Inequality” quotient (37.5) than the USA at 41.4 based on 2022 rankings: https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/wealth-inequality-by-country
Slovenia has the best quotient but I don’t see anybody “flocking to their banner”, yet China is ranked between the USA and Russia at 38.5, is the worlds largest economy based on PPP, and has most countries of the world ‘flocking to do business’: https://statisticstimes.com/economy/countries-by-gdp-ppp.php
@JohnLowrie @JwckJC
Russia is indeed an extremely unequal country.
The richest 1% of the population has 21.5% of the income and 47.7% of the wealth (Capital).
The richest 10% have 46.4% of the income and 74.1% of the wealth (Capital).
Source: https://wir2022.wid.world/
Inequality exploded in Russia after the dissolution of the USSR. And it has remained at the same level during the Putin governments, without any significant recovery.
When I read an article like this, it makes me sad. Actually, very sad.
It is transparent in the text, although not directly addressed in it, how the ghosts of the past still haunt Russia now.
@Arkx Brazil,
I would suggest that a review of who is funding the statistics might be in order. Your link is hooked up with some very ‘interesting’ groups and can hardly be unbiased.
The links I posted claim to be unaffiliated with any political group although anybody can make a claim to that.
As we are both aware all statistics can be suspect based on sample size, confidence level and tests performed.
Cheers!
@JackJC
The data posted by you and that posted by me are convergent, being just two different approaches. Both reveal how high inequality is in Russia.
Also, consider that the source you mention (World Population Review) uses data from the World Bank and Wikipedia, which in turn reproduces data from Credit Suisse.
By the way, the data published by the World Population Review is not consistent with the source it itself quotes.
One of the main reasons that the wealth inequality coefficient is not even higher in Russia is that the mega-companies in the oil and gas chain have not been completely privatized.
Is it or it untrue that Russia has a flat rate of income tax of 15 per cent?
Not worth the botheration, John. Ye olde Nesta Webster / Anthony Sutton et, al version of history is so played out.
South Africa. Africa???? Not the first time I’m seeing this. Do this people know South Africa is part of Africa??? Just write or say Africa. Why separate both???
Thomas,I don’t understand your question.
South Africa is a country, Africa is a continent.
If I may guess, it is because South Africa is part of BRICS and has the closest relationship to Russia. They are it’s biggest cheerleaders in Africa and part of a unique relationship with China Brazil Russia.
South Africa still has a strong voice in Africa. When they or Egypt speak Africa listens.
Don’t underestimate how many African leaders are resisting Western pressure because South Africa has called for it.
It is becoming clear NATOstan wants Russia to be a gas station, as Obama said, and a mine to be looted at will, as under Yeltsin.
The new strategy is to completely squeeze the EU with suicidal sanctions, collapsing industry, causing social unrest, blame it on Russia and Putin, until the freezing unemployed mob screams for an invasion – the rest of the world be damned.
NATOstan is trying to force Germany into a Barbarossa 2, against the deep-rooted memories of that disaster.
Obviously Germany is in a terrible bind.
NATOstan’s economy and finance is self-destructing, the only question is how fast?
Meanwhile A group of Ukrainian military left Azovstal today
https://readovka.news/news/96168
They carried white flags.
A group of Ukrainian soldiers went out in the area of Azovstal with a white flag on the road where they received evacuated civilians. This is reported by the commander of the battalion “Vostok” Alexander Khodakovsky.
Kadyrov called out the Azov Commander down there, who has not yet surfaced.
Another great interview with Glazyev :
Today we are in a state of global financial transformation
https://glazev.ru/articles/6-jekonomika/99885-my-segodnja-nakhodimsja-v-sostojanii-mirovoy-finansovoy-transformatsii
“They stole our money. This is typical piracy. The wealth of the Anglo-Saxons has always been accumulated by plunder. Confiscation of other people’s property is a birthmark disease of the Anglo-Saxon financial system.”
@mod – this deserves its own thread!
Glazyev always says what is happening now is once in a century. A huge change is underway, some call this Metanoia (Ray McGovern ex-CIA for example).
Faceless transnational corporations, who have no loyalty to any country, but to MAMMON and power itself, are responsible for this situation. THEY (their controllers) don’t care how many humans die, especially sub- humans like Slavic people’s. They have no souls, they own the western nations, war is good business for them. They and their offspring don’t fight or die in wars. This has been going on for centuries. Let us call them the 0.1 percenters.
“If the people knew what we have done, they’d be hanging us from lamposts” George “Poppy” Bush.
“Truss, the supremely stupid British Foreign Secretary”. Writing as an Englishman I cannot agree with that statement. She is even dimmer than that. I am also extremely upset that my country is at loggerheads, or worse, with Russia. We do have enemies in this world but Russia is not one of them. I live in an alleged democracy led by a madman. Our government does exactly what it wants to without respecting the wishes of the people. Our media sings from the same songsheet, all praising Zelensky non-stop and portraying Putin as a lunatic. It is most unfortunate that so many people here believe them. I am not sure what I can do to turn the tide. If you read the Daily Express you would think the Ukrainians are at the gates of Moscow and Putin is afflicted by just about every known disease. They keep telling the same lies yet few people see through it. I just hope that very soon we see the downfall of at least the Prime MInister and his laughable Foreign Secretary. I am not convinced their successors will be an improvement.
“Must break the Ukrainian Army”. I. e., loss of male Ukrainians. Now, this is a side-aspect – “Widow” theme related: I know about a case in my family, where the Ukranian refugee woman used her god given power. Lotsa trouble. I am convinced there’s much family trouble here in Germany. If I were to invite Uki women, my wife would sharpen her tiger teeth.
A buddy of mine in Munich remarked how suddenly the main train station neighborhood is flooded with Gypsies. Hmmmm
That’s info. for me, funny too.
Under the guise of supplying arms to ukraine the US is stockpiling weapons and supplies in Europe for an attack on Russia.
Excellent point yet nobody pays it much attention. Poland and Romania musty be bulging with weapons now
I would take issue with articles that end in such phrases as “this is the last chance”, and “if this fails this will lead to so and so which will never end”. Authors are allowing themselves to fall into Fukuyama “end of history” type thinking. However terrible outcomes may seem, they never usher in a state of permanence. The arrow of time grinds everything down, including the mightiest empires.
NAZIlensky has received his coveted British citizenship, as well as certain Ukrainian oligarchs. Like RATS fleeing a sinking ship, they will abandon their country and fellow citizens, taking their ill gotten gains with them. THEY don’t care about you, the long suffering citizens of Ukraine. YOU will be left to clean up this mess of THEIR creation. Good luck.
We in the United States are tired of living under our own dictatorship. Heritage Americans are patiently waiting for the collapse of the evil empire that currently rules over us provided by the bravery of Russia.
We are aware and cheer on Russia!
It’s funny how American are always resorting to prayers instead of doing the hard work of changing their corrupt system.
That’s not very nice to say about all Americans becuase some of us are trying the best we can to resist. What the hell do you expect one to do? No need to answer.
Yes America is ruled by filth that does not make every American dirty.
Hey pen Chuck
You misinterpret what I said. I NEVER said Americans are ‘dirty’
I merely asked why Americans are not working harder to change their system which is now imperiling humanity. I believe this is a reasonable question. Don’t you think?
Because most are brainwashed and live their life through social media. Too wrapped up in themselves to have any clue about what is going around them.
I’m amused at the “But it’s not the fault of America – it CANNOT ever be the fault of The America We All Know And Love. We are the Best And Most Free Country In The World after all” line that is always thrown up in defense of any criticism of America.
Listen, you’re the only people (not the government, but the actual people, that is, you, right there) in the world that throws around phrases like “nuking” a country (usually the middle east) into “a sheet of glass”. This is your fault. Not only your government’s but in the first place yours.
Another zio neocon frothing for war :

Some thoughts. Russians are very clumsy with words in English and even worse in understanding how propoganda works.
All the efforts , planning, lives and treasure put in so far by Russia since 2014 will go up in smoke the moment you insert the word Union, and will be totally incinerated by using the abbreviation USSR.
I have seen this usage the third time. Please please dont shoot yourself in the foot.
You yourself know what was your reaction to European UNION.
Millions of Russians speaking for years will run out of breath trying to explain to the world what the New USSR or Union stands for.
Be smart you have seen US do this for decades. “Free world” “Civilised world” “Rules based order” “Democratic states” “War or Terror” ” “Humanitarian aid” “Diversity” ” Responsibility to protect” etc.
“Empire of lies ” was a brilliant one. Hammer in the US ” Ministry of Truth” call it out day in and out in every media, Forum , press interview.
You could call it “Free Sovereign states/people” or something on those lines.
Some times you get the best ideas in the most unusual places.
Watch Ghanian youtuber Wode Maya. he represents a huge energy of Africa that has just now started coming up in public consciousness of Africans.
They know what it means to loose sovereignty its is there you will find raucous expressions of finding freedom from opression and the rallying of all of Africa to achieve its own economic freedom.
According to “Whatdoesitmean” (a sometimes interesting site) there is more going on at the UN than currently reported here.. Apparently they are showing the security council how poorly Russians in Mariupol have been treated through videos. The US apparently wants peace, and Russia is giving them a lesson.
You write that you lived in the Soviet Union in the 1970 where you experienced communism’s “weaknesses, its strengths and also its hollowness, understanding that it would eventually fall, for even then nobody believed in Communism anymore” I lived in the west since 1953 and the attack against Russia continues unabated. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul During a Senate hearing asks Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas a very good question to which he gives an answer that history has ignored. He asks “Do you know who the greatest propagator of disinformation in the history of the world is? The US government!”
Ever since 1812 the West has been propagandized not by Russia but by Britain and the USA to a point where even the most educated start to believe this nonexistent influence of Russian propaganda and fear to discuss it. This propaganda attacked the nonexistent political and economic system called “communism” to keep the working class subservient. The Western consumer of this endless propaganda has created a society of “Pavlov’s dogs” any time they hear the word “Russia “and “Communism”. When Zelensky a Jew sees “Nazis” as “freedom fighters” and when academics see USSR as communism, how does one tear down this Berlin wall of academic laziness.
Any time the world needed a policeman Russia provided the bodies s it was during WWII. The end of World War Two was the ‘beginning of the end’ for old world imperialism. From the ashes of the war, the United States and the Soviet Union emerged as dominant powers who aimed to reshape the world in their own image.
America with atomic weapons and the world’s strongest economy was challenged by the Soviet Union, who after the war, possessed the world’s largest conventional army and controlled one fifth of the globe, including parts of Central and Eastern Europe. The two wartime allies disagreed on the future political direction for the world. Even though, in 1946 in San Francisco they were the co-founders of the United Nations, whose aim was collective security, they followed policies of self-interest. However, in the post war world ‘our glorious Soviet allies’ and their leader ‘Uncle Joe’ became ‘enemy number one’.
Decolonization in Asia and Africa, instability in Europe, as well as oppressive right-wing dictatorships in Central and South America exposed the conflicting interests of Soviet and American imperialism. These conflicting political and economic interests created a bipolar world where ‘communists’ led by the Soviet Union and the ‘democracies’ led by the United States struggled for the minds and hearts of people in developing nations. This struggle, in other words, “the Cold War mixed domestic and international threats and anxieties and created a crisis atmosphere which was temporarily useful — but blown out of all reasonable proportions” as it is today. The Soviet Union under the guise of communism, and the United States under the guise of democracy, competed directly or indirectly, to dominate the post war world.
The wartime allies, America, and the Soviet Union, disagreed on the future political direction of the countries in Central and Western Europe. The Russians refused to allow their wartime allies any input into the political choices they made for the territories under their control. They justified this position by saying that the Western Powers refused to give them any say in the future of Western Europe that was under the influence of America. This lack of co-operation, and more importantly the domination of Central and Eastern Europe by the Soviets, concerned President Truman. This lack of co-operation was seen by the Truman administration as a direct challenge to American political and economic interests, even though, CIA reports, in 1945, portray the Soviets as a spent force, large in number with their homeland devastated, their economy in ruins, and their supply lines inadequate.
According to intelligence analysis, it would take some fifteen years before they could militarily challenge the West in Europe since the intelligence agencies estimated that the Russians would not possess nuclear weapons for another five years. They did, however, have sufficient conventional forces to influence events in countries where left wing movements were active in their attempts to overthrow the existing governments.
Of particular concern for America was the communist influence in Greece and Turkey. Formerly under British influence, this strategic area was used in the past to prevent the tsars from challenging British imperialism in the Mediterranean. With the demise of the British ability to maintain the status quo, America stepped in to stop what they saw as a ‘domino effect’ in a region which was of historic strategic importance to capitalism. To this end, America introduced the Truman Doctrine, whose aim was to stop the spread of communism or Russian influence, whether local or international, by helping the existing government stay in power, whether a dictatorship or democracy, if it was friendly to American interests.
In Western Europe, particularly in France and Italy, economic crisis led to the election of large communist parties. More immediately, the easy takeover of Czechoslovakia by the communists scared the Congress into implementing the proposed Marshal Plan designed to help European economic recovery. America introduced the Marshall Plan to combat the communist threat to Europe and American influence by means of a ‘full belly’. At the same time the Marshal Plan allowed American companies to jump the tariff walls and American multinational corporations were able to dominate European commerce from the inside.
Implementation of the Marshal plan led to the integration of German, French and Belgian coal, and steel industries, the first step to the present European Union, dominated by United States and its new military bureaucracy NATO. Moreover, this integration was intended to stop German militarism and revenge by integrating the German economy with that of her neighbors. Even though, the Marshal Plan aid was offered to the Soviet Union, they saw it as a ‘Trojan Horse’, and refused it, since they saw it as an attempt to de-communize Eastern Europe.
The political ‘tug of war’ and ‘one-upmanship’ in Europe and at home in America did not end with the Marshal Plan, but continued through espionage, propaganda, and series of crisis which created a symbiotic relationship between the Soviet and American industrial military complexes. The state of Crisis intensified with the communist takeover in China in 1949 and the Soviet explosion of the A-bomb. The Soviets saw many of these events as self-defenses, while Americans saw the same events as a threat to her democracy.
Outside of Europe, at the end of the Pacific War, America feared that Soviet entry would lead to, as the USA propagandized, communization of Asian territories that came under her control. At the same time Truman felt that Soviets would help the Chinese communists in their effort to expel the American ally Chiang Kai-Shek from China.
Communization of China could mean an end to the historic Open Door Policy that America had supported, since 1922, in relationship to this country. Soviets had a large conventional Army, and they were committed to enter the war against Japan. Truman did not want the Soviet control in Asia to follow the European example. His fears were proved right as the Soviets helped communize North Korea and China. Communization of North Korea and China was followed by attempts to communize the whole of the Korean peninsula.
“In 1949, there was the Communist victory in China, and in that year also, the Soviet Union exploded its first atomic bomb. In 1950 the Korean War began. These were all portrayed to the public as signs of a world Communist conspiracy.” Anti-communist elements in America viewed as equally serious, “anti-imperialist insurrection in the world, which would require gigantic American effort to defeat national unity for militarization of the budget, for the suppression of domestic opposition to such a foreign policy.”
These anti-communist elements, led by Herbert Hoover and Joseph McCarthy, by their propaganda brought out the most repugnant side in human nature. In the name of patriotism and self-promotion many Americans, like Ronald Regan and Charleston Hesston turned in their friends to government committees. Even though, some of this propaganda had an element of truth much of it was so strident and overblown that it became virtually impossible to establish whether there was a communist threat.”
Certainly, the Soviet espionage rings were present in the West. Igor Guzenko, a cipher clerk in the Soviet embassy in Ottawa, sounded a warning to their presence. Russian archive today indicates that Soviet spies like Julius and Ethel Rosenberg had passed atomic secrets to Soviet agents. However, espionage is as old as history; all sides participate in it, one way or another. McCarthyism gave the American government an opportunity to bring into line dissent, the media, the film industry, and the unions. Furthermore, American government used the fear of Communism to increase military spending and suppress left wing revolutions in Latin America and anti-colonial revolutions in Asia and Africa.
American government broke its own laws to suppress Communism in America. The threat to American democracy was more domestic than foreign. Internationally, however, establishment of quasi-communist dictatorships in Eastern and Southern Europe as well as in China threatened American economic influence in these areas.
By creating an anti-communist paranoia, American government was able to justify to its people the need for greater and greater military expenditures. Also, it was easier to justify keeping American troops in Europe and sending them to fight in the Korean War. The threat from communist espionage in America, in the immediate post war period, was something that the legal institutions could have controlled. It was Stalinist dictatorship, which was a threat, both inside and outside the Soviet Union. Ideas, whether communist or capitalist, are never a threat in a society that respects freedom of speech which is protected by the rule of law, due process, and an independent judiciary which at present does not exist in most Western countries.
“If Russia does not win, the Russian Federation will be humiliated and dismantled and become just another group of colonies for Western asset-strippers and slavers.
And that will be the end of the world under a US Global Dictatorship, euphemistically known as ‘the Unipolar World’.”
I think he is describing the world of puppetry or “ventriloquist dolls” as someone said. If you think too much about puppets and puppet masters, you could end up believing in something unrealistic like what is described in the quote.
Nice article. Full of truths.
The missing element in a lot of these articles is the critical role of oil in the world economy. There are many articles written about Stalingrad. But almost none of them explain why Stalingrad was of such importance to both sides.
Without access to cheap oil, modern economies collapse. We will shortly see this process in Europe. The USA is happy for Europe to be deprived of oil.
“The world has a major crude oil problem; expect conflict ahead”
https://ourfiniteworld.com/2022/04/21/the-world-has-a-major-crude-oil-problem-expect-conflict-ahead/
First, Let me advise that all flat screen graphs should be taken as an indication only, not a truth nor fact.
Second, Let me advise that our world is not finite. Our world is infinite, our sun shines forever yes?
Third, The world has no crude oil problem. The oil didnt slip up in 2000 as predicted in 1970-80 yes.
Conclusion we have a gigantic problem with parasitic financial investment bankers, speculators and economical hitmen. They are our real problem.
Situation on Harkov front is very serious and very bad for Russians.
They have to do something to prevent enforcement of Izyum
Mistake…I wanted to say – encirclement of Izyum
Sorry
Russians do not have enough army units in Ukraine
“Truss, the supremely stupid British Foreign Secretary, let slip that NATO already had Russian Rostov and Voronezh in its sights.”
It’s not that NATO had Rostov and Voronezh in it’s sights. Lavrov asked Truss whether England would recognize Russia’s claim to the territory of Rostov and Voronezh. Truss responded “Never”, not realizing that the two cities are located in Russian oblasts just east of 404.
I am looking forward to the day that the citizens of Sebastopol, just south of the Russian River in Northern California, take a vote and ask to be reintegrated with mother Russia. Well, I can dream.
England, claiming St. George as its patron saint, is trying to undermine Russia, which also claims St. George as its patron saint. Would be funny, if only it were not so tragic.
St. George seems to have originated in Venice – there is even an island. How did this get to Mt. Athos?

LONG LIVE MOTHER RUSSIA!
Long live all true patriots!
God bless you and your country!
Was just reading Elinsky’s demands for ‘peace’ talks to resume. For such a belligerent piece of shit he sure is a tad cocky for someone whose army is being mauled…..or is it? Looking at what Ukraine has for men on the front….most of the best hardened fighters have been pulled back to the west and replaced with the fighters we see now; older, untrained.
Cheers M
If confirmed, the first surrenders at Azovstal today, maybe Jaw-Jaw is in order?
There are more to surface there… It sure looks like Macron is also in a Jaw-Jaw mood, considering what might be in the tunnels? Even the Pope wants Jaw-Jaw.
Time is a strange thing indeed – inexorably flowing along the arc of justice…. (to paraphrase MLK).
They need to take those rats in the steelworks alive, then combe through the whole complex to make sure there is no one hiding, they should all be interrogated and foreigners sorted out,get any Nato bastards.
I would like to know this commenting group’s opinion of Bible prophesy about the end times. I have no special knowledge about the future, but apparently there is to be a one world currency and one government throughout the world. That would seem to be the end of nationalism, the end of a multipolar world. So unless I don’t correctly understand Bible prophesy, the MAGA movement in the United States, Putin’s efforts to preserve Russia, China’s effort at economic hegemony, etc., all these movements are doomed to failure.
Not that I like this one world government prophesy; to the contrary, the notion seems repugnant. On the other hand, prophesy also predicts Christ’s return, ending these one-worlders once and for all. Seems like a lot of suffering to come for those unfortunates who will be ruled by this tyranny prior to Christ’s return.
How does this group view Bible prophesy? And yes this is a loaded question. Quite loaded, indeed.

The hatred of some Western circles against Russians and Serbians is boundless akin to profound racism. I remember the unhinged Western propaganda about the ” humanitarian bombings” of Serbia by NATO back in 1999 it was revolting.
It wouldn’t surprise me if some devils in those circles mentioned in the near future the necessity of “humanitarian genocide” of the Russian people.
Beautifully written statement, thank you so much.
Russia will win this war, no question. My heart is with Russia and V. Putin, also with each single soldier, Russian and Chechen.
They are extraordinary balanced and so fair. They seem to know what they are fighting for. God bless them. Slava Russia!
We should be friends with Russia. They have the most beautiful women in the world. Unfortunately, neocons are more into starting wars.
Please go earlier, in 1989, when USSR betrayed Eastern Europe allies and forced regime change jointly wirh NATO.
That betrayal is the foundation of today’s troubles. How stupid to destroy your own defence cordon. But in the 90s Russia had its own “Maidan” momentum, paid and continues to pay for it.
Despite the undeniable fact that Russia “paid and continues to pay for” this betrayal with a myriad of disasters, thecurrent Ukraine conflict being the latest example, the number one person who actually carried out the betrayal together with his cabal, Mikhail Gorbachev, still remains unpunished in any way in today’s Russian Federation, and enjoys “senior statesman” status.
Why?
Gorbachev lives in Germany. For many years and never comes to Russia.
thank you Batiushka for this.
Good advise from a pro-Russian Telegram site:
Once again about the cultural images that Russia should broadcast inside the country, outside it and in Ukraine.
As Medvedev and I wrote, we will not go far on a grandmother with a red flag.
Let’s take a look at the style and cultural symbols that the world’s most popular ideologies have had.
The Nazis drove the prim Germans crazy with stylish uniforms from Hugo Boss, chopped Scandinavian runes and Aryan swastikas, neo-pagan mysteries of Wotan, Ice and Fire.
And today their style is cosplayed not only by young neo-Nazis, but by gays and bdsm people obsessed with the sacralization of sexual practices.
Even in the rural performance of the swine Nazis from Azov and the Right Sector, this aesthetic attracts thousands of young Ukrainians and hundreds of European right-wing radicals to their ranks.
The communists also knew how to style. From head to toe, Trotsky’s commissars and security officers clad in black leather, brutal military jackets of Stalin and K red flags with a sickle and a hammer. The most powerful brand of leftists was made from just one successful photo of Che Guevara, a charming hippy revolutionary with a cigar in his mouth.
And Mayakovsky, and avant-garde and constructivism?
The white émigré and monarchist Brodovich revolutionized the layout of glossy magazines, drawing on the style of the Soviet avant-garde.
The communists crumbled and lost ground in the minds of the Soviet and Western youth, when the old people began to rule in all areas. The dull official stage and boring red grandfathers could not compete with the fervent pressure of Western rock music, Hollywood movie heroes, jeans and Pepsi-Cola.
In principle, the official Russian culture in the mass is the same shit as the culture of the late USSR. There is also a nightmarish bridge between these eras – Makarevich and Pugachikha, as symbols of mediocrity, bad taste and conformism.
ISIS is also something monstrous, satanic, but devilishly attractive to Muslim youth, extreme punk. Where videos are shot according to all the rules of tik-tok houses and offer both an alternative to Western spirituality and a short, easy path to Paradise instead of the long, difficult path of traditional Islam and Christianity.
We underestimate the attractiveness of the Russian imperial style. I personally became a fan of the White Cause when I saw the handsome White Guard Ivashov singing “Russian Field” in “The Elusive Avengers” and the silent attack of the wildly fashionable black-dress Drozdovites in “Chapaev”.
Instead of the unfortunate grandmother, start promoting the young heroes of the Russian Spring: warriors and volunteers. Return to the army the golden officer’s epaulettes and daggers, the green and red cloth of Russian imperial uniforms, which the whole world was afraid of. (Of course, along with drones and state-of-the-art weapons in every platoon).
Start making films and series about Russian heroes of all eras, including campaigns in Chechnya, Syria and Novorossiya, and not just about May 9th.
Let not chansonniers with entertainers sing at patriotic holidays, but Husky, Sagrada, Kinchev, Django and Sukachev with Sklyar.
Paying tribute to the achievements of the Soviet era, add a pinch of Russian-Soviet Cosmos, futurism and avant-garde to the imperial Russian style.
And spice up this cocktail with ascetic northern Russian Orthodoxy as an alternative to Catholicism and Protestantism leaving Christ.
Voila, you will have symbols and a cultural context that can easily cover both the losing ground of Western culture with transsexuals, LGBT and diversity on the verge of insanity, and the clumsy Nazi cosplay of the Ukrainian pig.

This is a timeless article. Full or layers and deep understanding of History. It will stay with me.
The central point for me is “this is a battle for survival of the world’s seven billion against the one billion.”
Someone once said truth is understood not with the intellect but felt with the body.
Science says all humanity originated from Africa, leaving in two waves between 200-150,000 years ago.
Here, where the ancestors of all humans lie, there is unease in the air. We are far from the fight but we know we are part of it.
Never has it been more true that knowledge is power. I hope I can help get knowledge of this blog to others in Africa. Here CNN is on all cable TV, DSTV being the main one, with BBC and Sky News. RT also here and Chinese and Indian TV.
Africa has a huge educated middle and upper class. We need to understand what is going on. Like Russia, we need to prepare. We cannot be false friends. We must help somehow. For now with neutrality. But that will not be enough.
Africa, Asia and South America need to understand that while Russia fights for itself it is also the cover for all of us. Slowly we realize how savage the powers of the West still are. Will we fall for their poison trinkets again.
May God help us. Nothing is greater.
I believe the American and European public can help most of they actually are allowed to understand what is going on. Let us not underestimate the need to fight strongly on the information front.
It was Winston Churchill who instigated the cold war against the USSR in 1946, when he gave a speech in Fulton, Missouri proclaiming to the world that an Iron Curtain had been erected by Stalin from Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, to divide western and eastern Europe into communist and capitalist countries.
He even had a plan to nuke the Soviet Union, but fortunately he was no longer British prime minister, since the Labour Party had obtained a majority in the House of Commons and Clement Attlee, the new prime minister squelched the idea.
Reality now is Good vs. Evil
with Moral Curtain between.
I would suggest the above is a very simplistic take on what is going on. Is it not strange that just a year ago the WEF were telling us a new multipolar world is approaching? There are no nations anymore. They were all infiltrated a while back. The world is run by a secretive group of very sick minded people. I have my own pet theory that sees parallels to what is going on now in the decline and fall of Khazaria and the subsequent diaspora of its peoples.
I too lived in Soviet Russia in the 1970s…and knew that the Soviet system was hollow, but didn’t really think that it might just fall off…even in the 90s…even when I felt that both Gorbachev and Yeltsin as traitors.
It was in the 70s, I started to like and then love the multinational Russia, the multinational Russians. Even at that time, I found that you can’t trust the Georgians (Gruzins), Estonians, and the Ukrainians. I have known a majority of the nationals of USSR.
Anyway, Russia must win this US proxy war in the Ukraine. By the way, It’d be interesting, if the war would be brought to the UK and the US soil, one way or another. Why not?
By the way, I have read all the books by Vasil Bykov in the 70s.
who is Batiushka?
Bravo! As the senile Joe Biden stated the other day that the world stands at an epoch-making time. One hopes that these long-time-in-the-making historical crises won’t go to waste and never yield the desired multi-polar world order that UN Secretary General also pronounced on. Generational Western imperialist bullying has wreaked havoc for centuries and has taken different forms around the world, which in modern times is appearing in a fascist form of a supposedly defensive US/NATO alliance. Sad to see that blood is flowing and lives are perishing as we speak but as a Christian I know too well that blood redeems even if I do not grasp the gist of it all.
I was of the opinion that Russia or even China were not quite cognizant of what is at stake but the column put it all across very well and a big thanks to the insightful author.
The biggest frustration is to note that those of us in Africa and elsewhere, who need the new, probably fairer order the most appear baffled and scared to rise up and stake out our part in what is taking shape regarding the promising global prospects. This all too often late-coming to the table is Africa’s handicap which deprives the continent of the much needed impetus and a voice in wider engagements about the continent’s security, development and growth. Russia has the wherewithal to resist and reverse the ever expanding Western hegemony without us but sure we have the right to voice out the truth around the current fiery issues by virtue of the fact that we too stand to lose or gain should events be resolved peaceably or we might perish with the rest.
New post from Colonial Cassad about the fighting around Snake Island that we are seeing rumors about:
So, from what is known about the events of the last days near Serpent’s Island
RF
1 border boat damaged/destroyed
1 assault boat damaged/destroyed
Damaged SAM “Tor”
1 installation “Strela 10” was destroyed
1 ZU-23/2 installation was destroyed
Losses in people are unknown
Ukraine
1 Su-24 destroyed
1 Su-27 destroyed
Destroyed 3 UAVs “Bayraktar”
Destroyed 3 Mi-8 helicopters with troops
Landing assault boat with landing force destroyed
Losses in people are unknown
Yes, I was going to mention that, and the Russians saying about it that:
The Armed Forces of Ukraine use the airfields of Romania and Bulgaria to base their aircraft. This explains the large number of destroyed Ukrainian planes and helicopters by our Aerospace Forces in the area of Snake Island, as stated by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Operations from these airfields pose a threat to the ships of the Black Sea Fleet located to the west of the peninsula.
It also cannot be ruled out that NATO pilots can fly under the flag of the Ukrainian air force due to a shortage of flight personnel.
– WELDERS Z
is it true ???-russian forces entered AZOVSTAN plant…and in the process killed 600 nazi beauties ??? according of George Eaton…
At this juncture, isnt it time we stopped calling the ” Ukie ” drones, planes, missiles, helis and so forth Ukrainian ?
Seriously, How hard is it to paint a Ukie flag on a Turkish controlled drone ? What about a ant-ship missile guided by the US ? How about ” Ukie ” planes and copters flying out of foreign airfields or piloted by non-Ukrainian pilots ? If Russia doesn’t realize that they actually are in a hot war with the West by now, then they will fail.
“And the embargos on Russian grain and fertilisers have not hit yet. Wait till food costs go up by 100% in Western countries, instead of just going up by 10% as now: then you will have rioting in the streets and looting of supermarkets.”
People in Odessa are panicked at seeing 150 trucks delivering grain to barges that are headed to the EU. So the EU is making sure to stock well up on Ukraine’s food.
Here is the video of 100 trucks lined up on the road with 50 more waiting.

My heart was broken when Batiushka mentioned that, millions of working class in Russia committed suicide during 1990s. In fact the working class in Soviet Union lost the class struggle to the anti revolutionary and reactionary bourgeoisie, who got power instruments in the Communist Party and all of states institutions, first with Khrushchev revisionism and at least anti communist Jeltsin, puppet of CIA?
Of course Nato is military instruments of evil imperialism lead by US. Of course neither Ukraine nor any country should be member of Nato. Nato is enemy of working class in the world.
Of course many of regime in the world are puppet of imperialists. Nationalism or religions identity are as poison for working class. We can only liberate ourselves if we unite as a class with class consciousness, which is concentrated in the Leninist disciplinary and underground party. Working class of each nation must form a fighting Party that is capable of organizing a communist revolution to end the imperialism. and its vicious, destructive, murderous and miserable acts.
I don’t know why Britain is cited so much in this article, Britain ceased to exist as a country -as a people long ago.
The British were the first to be destroyed by multiculturalism, they are now a tower a Babel.
Enoch Powell said it was madness at the time of the great invasion of other.
The recent decision in the Julian Assange case shows that Britain is just a servant of Washingtons wishes.
It would be interesting to compare the % of deserters if they were to stop being paid, US to Russia. Only relevant if the currency of one or the other were to collapse.
They’re going ape sh!t over at the MoA Ukraine (not so) Open Thread today about this article that most assume the Saker wrote. One person pointed out that it is not so.
Let them do what they do Bones. I have respect for Bernard but let’s not gossip about comments on other blogs.
Bravo! Quite a piece.
First: what do you mean by Social (not Socialist). Personally, I think Sovereign does it.
I also suggest dropping the Union business because that implies a central government above all the other independent but linked sovereign governments and their leaders. Stop it right there! No over-arching central government and no over-arching President. Rather just have a Federation of Sovereign States. Have a Round Table with a rotating Presidency, that role being to conduct the meetings and ensure protocol is followed. No executive powers in the council. No judicial powers. It is purely advisory or consensus-building.
Second: I cannot get on board with your Zelensky theories. In your ‘why did it start’ section you state: “Firstly, the Zelensky regime wanted the Ukraine to become a NATO member.” Later you mention that he is reading scripts and this is where I come back on board. Z is clearly a puppet dancing on the string held by each and every one of his eight hundred million ill-gotten dollars. That’s the easy part. But what you didn’t really reveal is: who is writing Z’s script and why? And if there is an answer to that, does that who and why relate with the hundred year history in your possible ‘when it began’ section?
Has America had its sights set on Russia for over a century and now feels close to being able to bend Russia and China to its unipolar will as you suggest in your ending? But did they really start this that long ago?
Or the UK – they’ve been around long enough?
Or who else might it be?
A devious Turkey?
An ambitious Poland?
A resentful resurgent Germany?
A lest-we-forget-they-might-still-be-worth-remembering France?
An Israel looking to slink out of the Middle East finally and take over the linchpin nation of Eurasia and willing to bring the West down in order to make it happen after which they will get to run the surveillance and financial systems after the infamous Reset? (Hmm….. intriguing……)
We wonders, aye, we wonders Precious….
Many Americans, myself included would rather live in Russia than most states in the US. A much saner place.
Nobody shot from the Bastille, you need to read real history.
White West will lose again. Victory belongs to Mother Russia. As Andrei said Russian SMO will be studied/analized for centuries. The Third Patriotic War is with Russian People under the blessings and protection of St George in Yoruba Ogun. 8 years was the needed time for Russia works St George/Ogun obligations:
Ogún (also spelled Oggun, Ogou or Ogum) is a powerful, fierce warrior who defends his people and fights against injustice. Ogun has the intelligence and creativity to invent tools, weapons, and technology. He is the father of civilization in many ways, for it is by his strength that the path from orun (heaven) to ayé (earth) was cleared so that humanity and the orishas could come to earth. It was his tools and labor that cleared away the wilderness to build cities, homes, and roads. He is the cutting edge of the knife and as such is often misunderstood. The knife can be used to kill someone, or to save someone in surgery – such is Ogun’s nature.
Ogun means war. Ogun is master of metallurgy, having dominion over iron and steel and all tools made with these materials, such as the spear, hammer, knife, horseshoe and hoe. He is an orixá associated with struggle and also with work, patron of both the military and manual workers (especially blacksmiths).
Although not an agricultural orixá, Ogun has a connection with planting and harvesting, because he was the one who made the first tools used in agriculture, such as the hoe and the sickle.
White West is in despair taking their last breaths of life and still delirious in face of reality. Will it play dirty? Tell me when it didn’t. The Sun/reordering will come from East. In being a matter of existence/survival for China (as well as to Iran) they’re with Russia till death.
Some 25 years ago I had coffee with an Auschwitz survivor and when I saw the number tattooed to his wrist my eyes were fixated on the numbers as I stared t them frozen. He did not speak hate during our meeting, nor did he speak hate when he spoke to students at a local high school. He was calm, his son was listening to him from the back of the room, hearing his father’s story for the first time. His son said to me afterwards that his father never told him this part of his life before. All of us in the room, including my students, were silent, and the words that I remember the most expressed gratitude to the Russian soldiers who rescued him. In his name, and my uncle’s name who was rescued from a German labor camp on this May 9th I want to say thank you for your sacrifice.

And thank you for using the correct term; labor camp.
Auschwitz was two camps,a labour camp and a extermination camp, along with jews thousands of soviet soldiers were murdered there.
Mr. Weiss was liberated from Auschwitz extermination camp, while my uncle Roy (Risto) was liberated from a farm labor camp, which the Russians and Ukrainians as well as other Soviet soldiers liberated.
Brilliant analysis! I will save this document for the future! Russia and China must win this fight for the sake of humanity, I just wish I was a few decades younger to be an active part of it. I live in a community of people who are so brainwashed and uninformed and who don’t want to hear anything that differs from the western narrative. Ignorance is bliss, so they say!
The article may have some inaccuracies in figures and facts, but in general its spirit is correct – there is a confrontation in the world against the hegemony of the ruling elite of the United States.
In this regard, Ishchenko’s recent article “The Origins and Meaning of American Totalitarianism” is very useful – https://bit.ly/3N498zL
“The US tried to carry out the same tricks on the Russian political market. Only taking into account the diversity of Russia, as well as the sharply negative attitude of the population to any mention of “democracy”, which people associate with the catastrophe of the 90s, the Americans acted in Russia more directly. They have sponsored and are sponsoring any attempts to implement the idea of the dominant state ideology (any ideology) that imposes its dogmas on society by force.”
@Batiushka
An excellent summary of events.
Well reasoned and concise.
I agree with most if not all of your analysis because of my personal understanding of historical and current geopolitics, especially as it relates to the realignment of the world and a battle between East and West. This is briefly explained in your article.
Of course, in the coming years, a library of books will be written to detail the events leading up to this latest cataclysmic event, beginning on 24 February 2022, and your article is a step in that direction.
China plays a vital role to ensure Russia is not defeated, as both have everything to lose as you rightly say. Their partnership forged over at least a decade is one of survival, as they have planned, knowing full well that time was not on the side of the US empire which has long passed it’s expiry date.
While none have a crystal ball view of the future, any seasoned, intelligent reader could come up with a plausible vision in the unlikely event Russia is unable to prevail and triumph over the total onslaught of propaganda war, proxy war, financial war, political war, intelligence war, and economic war being waged against her today.
Dmitry Orlov has said similarly that Russia needed time to prepare herself in all spheres of capability and self reliance for the new “war of attrition” beginning as Russia expected in 2022.
I agree, for the sake of the whole world, everyone alive today, and yet to be born, that Russia must emerge victorious, in the sense of freeing all people from the yoke of the debt-based serfdom monetary system, not to mention to be free of coercion to comply with a “rules based order” dictated by the foreign policy of one nation, the United States of America.
The dictates of many US foreign policy objectives beginning in the 1960s, attributed to Henry Kissinger, was encapsulated in his belief that moral indeterminacy was a condition of human freedom. We know how that turned out.
Kissinger did not question the American global mission. China was courted by Kissinger and Nixon to “contain and control” a country ripe for exploitation. We know how that turned out.
Kissinger could not imagine any other purpose for American power than the pursuit of global supremacy, echoed in his words, “We create our own reality.”
Kissinger thought that the deadly confrontation of the first Cold War could be solved with existential arrogance, when he wrote, “For men become myths, not by what they know, nor even by what they achieve, but by the tasks they set themselves.”
The influence of one man, Kissinger, now 99 years old this 27 May, could be seen as irrelevant, yet the poison fruits of US foreign policy today bear witness to his legacy.
I’m an American. America started their empire with the Spain 1898 and creating a war with them out of lies so we could end up getting their colonies. Now, America’s empire is on the way out, and I believe it started with Afghanistan and going against Russia; two events the past year.
While the quality of this site is impressive, being in a way a truly unique and indispensable information and commentary venue for anti-imperialists the world over, I frequently find some comments and statements a bit jarring in their massive ignorance or simple bad faith. Basically, such voices repeat long-debunked right-wing talking points that inject obscurantism in vital discussions.
As an example, consider the fact that the US right-wing, perhaps one of the most rabidly “anticommunist” in the world, has long characterised Barack Obama, the Clintons, and even the Rockefeller clan, as card-carrying Marxist-Leninists, which is as willfully stupid as it gets. These folks, all dedicated imperalists and warmongers, technically (and charitably) center-rightist corporatists/globalists to a fault, or, just call them CIA/Democrat liberals, are not and have never been on the true left. The fact that too many idiots in this country and around the globe think plain-vanilla liberals like Obama are “leftists”, is a gigantic hoax, a classical theft of political “branding”, and, if you’re on the right, a self-inflicted error. In this context, utterances like this, by the author of this otherwise excellent essay, encourage such reckless disregard for historical truth and political logic:
“If Russia does not win, the Russian Federation will be humiliated and dismantled and become just another group of colonies for Western asset-strippers and slavers. Then the British dream for its 1917 coup d’etat, turned into a nightmare because the stupid dream permitted Bolshevism to come to power, will become real.”
That sentence has more intentional or accidental ignorance than entire tomes dedicated to obfuscation. For starters, the Bolsheviks did not come to power via a “coup”; they came to power as a result of revolutionary preparation and skillful maneuvering under circumstances made possible precisely as it usually happens with successful revolutions, due to the rottenness and ineptitude, divisions, and anachronism of the ruling class itself. That they also sat on a system that history had already deemed socially and economically unviable added to the revolutionary pressure. Further, this process took many years and suffered many reverses. And the idea the British, or the ubiquitous “bankers”, or the Rothchilds (influential, pervasive and malignant as they were and still are) assisted Lenin in any manner is also nonsense, as far as the October Revolution is concerned.
Lastly, while obviously the Bolsheviks made many mistakes, I challenge anyone to imagine another set of rulers making fewer mistakes in the terrible conditions they were forced to govern, and while doing that exercise, let us not forget what the Soviet Union gave the world and the peoples it harbored: Russia’s power today, her astonishing capacity to recover quickly from the Gorbachite treason and the wounds inflicted by the ever malignant Americans, is a product of the educational and technical development attained by the USSR.
Analysing anything with fierce anti-communist glasses guarantees not only alarmingly erroneous conclusions but a great deal of judgmental unfairness.
