Robbers of the world, having by their universal plunder exhausted the land, they rifle the deep. If the enemy is rich, they are rapacious; if he is poor, they lust for control; neither the east nor the west has been able to satisfy them. Alone among men they covet with equal eagerness poverty and riches. To robbery, slaughter and plunder, they give the lying name of empire; they create a wilderness and call it peace.
Calgacus, AD 84
Introduction: Babylon and the Kingdom of Gold (1)
In Chapter 5 of the Old Testament Book of Daniel, we read of the feast of King Belshazzar and a mysterious hand, which wrote the following words on his palace wall: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN. These words were interpreted as meaning: ‘God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end; you have been weighed in the balance and found wanting; your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians’. It was the end of the Neo-Babylonian Empire, of the Kingdom of gold, as that very night Belshazzar the Chaldean king was slain. It was 539 BC. The End of Empire.
Rome and the Kingdom of Silver
The first person to appear in Scottish history by name was called Calgacus (‘the Swordsman’). He was a leader of the Caledonians, later called the Scots, and is mentioned at the Battle of Mons Graupius in AD 84. He is referred to by the Roman historian Tacitus in his Agricola, who attributes a speech to him before the battle which we quoted above. A modern historian of Scotland has put it like this, in words that would sound familiar when applied to Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and the Ukraine:
‘The reality is that the Romans came to what is now Scotland, they saw, burned, killed, stole and occasionally conquered, and then they left a tremendous mess behind them, clearing away native settlements and covering good farmland with the remains of ditches, banks, roads, and other sorts of ancient military debris. Like most imperialists, they arrived to make money, gain political advantage and exploit the resources of their colonies at virtually any price to the conquered’ (2).
The pagan Romans had a slogan, ‘Imperium sine fine’, or ‘Empire without end’. ‘Without end’ meant both in time/history and in space/geography. However, their Empire did have a geographical end relatively early on. This was in the form of a massive structure which took thousands of men some six years to build, begun in AD 122. It is called Hadrian’s Wall. This Wall separated the Roman province of Britannia, with its capital in the Roman-created Londinium/London, from the Caledonians in the north of the island. For the Romans were ultimately defeated by Caledonia, which since then has come to be called Scotland. Some will tell you that the Romans had too much trouble elsewhere in their Empire to bother to defeat the Caledonians, or that they hated their mountains and climate and that their sparse natural resources were not attractive enough to them. But do not forget native resistance. The fact is that mountain Caledonia was never subjugated by Roman Britannia, just as, some 1,820 years later, the mountain kingdom of Montenegro was never subjugated by Nazi Germany.
Of course, the Western provinces of the Roman Empire, miscalled the Roman Empire (3), did not fall because of the Caledonians. They fell in the fifth century because of later ‘barbarians’, though not without internal treachery and internal decadence. Indeed, there are some 200 conflicting theories as to why Old Rome fell. Nevertheless, the Scottish ‘barbarians’ (the Romans always called any who opposed them ‘barbarians’ – does that remind you of others today?) were the first who successfully resisted ‘Civilisation’. And so they put an embarrassing end to the Roman propaganda lie, ‘Imperium sine fine’, ‘Empire without end’.
Britannia and the Kingdom of Bronze
The British Empire was directly modelled on the Roman Empire. The very name ‘Britain’ all but disappeared after the Romans had abandoned their ‘Britannia’ in 410 AD. However, the name was revived by the imperialist Normans in 1066, who also transferred the English royal, spiritual and cultural capital from Winchester back to the old Roman political and financial capital, the City of Londinium. The Normans and their Jewish financiers thus set up a multinational Empire between Northern France and England, which soon expanded to Wales, Scotland, Western France and Ireland. After the fall of this French-speaking Britannic Empire in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, partly as a result of the ‘Hundred Years War’, Britannia was revived again in the eighteenth-century. With its King imported from Hannover and its financiers imported from the Netherlands, the British Establishment had bribed the ruling class in Scotland into uniting with England and Wales in 1707. They soon celebrated themselves in their 1740 poem and later anthem, ‘Rule Britannia’.
After the final defeat of Napoleon in 1815, the aggressive mercantile nationalism of that anthem was fully justified by jingoistic Victorian imperialism. Their translation of ‘Imperium sine fine’, ‘Empire without end’ was ‘the Empire on which the sun never sets’. Its emblem on its pennies was the Roman ‘Britannia’, a powerful pagan goddess figure, holding a (Ukrainian?) trident.
Why did the British Empire in its turn fall? Again, there is a host of theories. One of these is that the British imperialists abandoned even the pretence that their racist mission and bloody exploitation was to ‘civilise’ the rest of the world, to carry ‘the White Man’s burden’, and that all its massacres and mutilations around the world were somehow mysteriously justified by that mission. As the late African Archbishop of Cape Town, Desmond Tutu, said a few years back: ‘When the missionaries came to Africa, they had the Bible and we had the land. They said ‘Let us pray.’ We closed our eyes. When we opened them, we had the Bible and they had the land’. Like all empires, the British Empire too vanished, as they say, into the dustbin of history. Every dog has its day.
The USA and the Kingdom of Iron and Clay
The Presidents of the American Empire live in the Neo-classical ‘White House’, or ‘Executive Mansion’, as it used to be called. It too is another Roman-inspired classical palace. Like Britannia, it too is just another revival of pagan Rome. Following the Second World War, which was won by the Soviet Union, from 1945 on, America, that is, the USA, ruled a large part of the world from that Mansion. Fawning Western journalists write of ‘the White House’ as the centre of their world – certainly as the source of their income.
In this USA, in 1992, a political scientist called Francis Fukuyama published his book, ‘The End of History and the Last Man’. In this he proclaimed that humanity has reached ‘not just…the passing of a particular period of post-war history, but the end of history as such: that is, the end-point of mankind’s ideological evolution and the universalisation of Western liberal democracy as the final form of human government’. Incredibly, there were actually some who believed in his nonsensical rehash of the Hitlerian Thousand-Year Reich (Empire). His title of ‘End of History’ was in fact only a rehash of ‘the Empire on which the sun never sets’ and the ‘Empire without end’. Exactly the same old lie of ‘manifest destiny’, but re-expressed.
Well, Fukuyama’s End of History ‘Thousand-Year Reich’ is now also over, not like Hitler’s in twelve years (1933-1945), but in thirty years (1992-2022). The end came with the Ukraine, the former south-western provinces of Russia. Why? Well, a host of reasons is given, but I would say that it was because those in the White House chose to persecute ‘the stone cut from a mountain by no human hand’, that is, because they chose to persecute the Church in the Ukraine. (See the Book of Daniel, Chapter 2) (4). Although the thugs and atheist neocons in the White House do not know this, we do know this: ‘Do not be deceived: for our God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that will he also reap’ (Galatians 6, 7). ‘For our God is a consuming fire’ (Hebrews 12, 29).
Why the End of the American Empire Was Delayed
But why did the US ‘Thousand Year Reich’ last not twelve years, but thirty years? Why so long? The answer is here: Why did President Putin and the Russian Federation as a whole allow the White House to take over Kiev and then most of the Donbass in 2014-2015? As a result, Russian forces have been faced since 2022 with the far worse task of liberating, demilitarising and denazifying the Ukraine. Worse still, because Washington has forced Kiev to reject any peace negotiations with Moscow and is sending the Ukraine much of what it has through its NATO proxies, Russian forces are faced with the even worse task of liberating, demilitarising and denazifying the whole of the US-run NATO. President Putin has himself admitted that he made a mistake in not acting in 2015. So why this delay in resistance and bringing about the collapse of the American Reich? There are three clear reasons:
1. In 2014-15 the Russian Federation was far too weak militarily, economically and politically to stand up to the bully of the Western world. A war of liberation initiated then could have ended up very badly for Russia, which had suffered greatly from Western ‘sanctions’ just for its liberation of the Crimea.
2. The Russian Federation government had too little support inside its Westernised self to resist. CIA assets, including treacherous followers of the Vlasovtsy (5), had infiltrated all its institutions, including even the Russian Orthodox Church. This was already clear in 1993 during the October Coup, Black October, in which probably thousands of Russian patriots were massacred by the pro-Western Yeltsin regime. Five years ago, I met a former US marine, who had been sent in 1993 to a base outside Moscow, together with 4,000 other marines, who had been instructed that they might be needed to put down an anti-American revolt in Moscow. (In the end, they were not). 4,000 US troops around Moscow in 1993 at the invitation of its drunken ruler? Yes. A fifth column of Russian Westernisers, pussy rioters, liberals, journalists, actors, musicians, oligarchs, politicians, educationalists? Yes. All Russian institutions infiltrated by traitors? Yes. Only in 2022 was the Russian Federation ready to resist the American bully. It had taken it until 2022 to get ready, and even then the traitors were there in abundance, though soon running away to Israel, Finland, Georgia and elsewhere (6).
3. Western readers should not underestimate the incredible naivety of Russians towards the West. The Russians did not think that the West would forbid Kiev to reject a peace agreement in March/April 2022, thus forcing Kiev and Western economies to commit suicide, like a spoilt child who hurts himself just in order to spite his parents. As a result the limited operation to free the Donbass had to be entirely rethought. Again, President Putin was quite recently shocked to learn that he had been lied to by the German Merkel and the French Hollande. He had been tricked into believing that the West was sincere and that it was actually going to implement the Minsk Accords to protect the Donbass. As those two Western leaders recently admitted, the Minsk accords had only been playing for time to allow the Kiev Army to prepare, dig in, arm, train and then invade. Western leaders are liars. Fact. The origin of this extraordinary Russian naivety seems to be because between 1917 and 1991 Russia was cut off from the West, it lived in a bubble, so that it never really grasped how completely underhand and perfidious the West is. I have been living in Western Europe for too long not to know it. Ten years ago a Muscovite put it to me very well: ‘We knew that the Communists were lieing to us about Communism. What we didn’t know is that they were telling us the truth about Capitalism’.
For example, here in the West we know an American who has a prominent position in a Russian organisation, whom we knew to be a CIA spy from the very outset. Yet, even today, in 2023, after all his destruction, all the doors in Moscow are open to him and all his anti-Russian actions are approved of in Moscow! Meanwhile, those who defend Russia, as patriots, the greatest friends that Russia has in the West, are persecuted by him! It is incredible, but it is true. This naivety is suicidal for Russia.
Conclusion: The Writing is On the Wall
2022 saw a tectonic shift in consciousness, the beginning of the end of Western domination after over 500 years of slavery and colonialist and imperialist exploitation. The unipolar world belongs to the past. Technology is universal. No-one has a monopoly. ‘Never send to know for whom the bell tolls’. It tolls for the Western world. ‘Imperium Sine Fine’, Empire Without End – the oldest lie. MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN. ‘God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end; you have been weighed in the balance and found wanting; your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians’. The Writing is on the Wall of Belshazzar’s White House.

3. The Christian Roman Empire, centred in New Rome or Constantinople, did not actually fall until a millennium later. Its fall was brought on by a combination of Western barbarians (‘Catholics’), who plundered it in 1204, and the Ottomans who took its remnants over in 1453.

5. The Vlasovtsy were pro-Fascist Russians who fought with Hitler against the USSR. Some of their children and grandchildren are still active, for instance in Russian Church life in the Russian emigration and in other domains. Unlike Orthodox Christians, they follow neocon ideology, that is, they can be socially liberal and pro-LGBT, but they are socially irresponsible, that is, always politically ‘anti-socialist’, as they would call themselves, or frankly Fascistic.
We Russian Orthodox, like all Orthodox Christians, are exactly the opposite. We are socially conservative, but socially responsible. In other words, though we have compassion for people who suffer from illnesses like homosexuality, we believe in healthy, traditional values, the Family and National Identity, and we also believe in social justice, free education and health care, the rich paying higher taxes to help the poor, that is, we are socially responsible. We do not believe in the myth of left and right, which leads straight to Uniparty dictatorship, the great myth of so-called ‘Western democracy’.
“Why did the British Empire in its turn fall? Again, there is a host of theories.”
Being a South African native my theory is that Great Britain’s banker-inspired takeover of South African gold mines (aka the Boer War) and Middle East oil fields (aka WW1) diverted City of London capital from domestic to colonial investment. The British people were also saddled with repayment for War Loans from City of London and Wall Street bankers. Thus Britannia gracefully subsided into a dignified industrial obsolescence.
The same thing is happening to the U$A – financial exhaustion through military and colonial overstretch. I stopped storing dollars when the Grand Old Country stopped making TV sets.
“The climax arrived, with the Central City requiring a huge tax base to finance the Colonial Army, and a huge Bureaucracy to raise the taxes” — Michael Grant, The Climax of Rome.
Pedant’s Corner: In Rembrandt’s picture that Aramaic writing on the wall reads MENE, MENE, TEKEL, **U** PARSIN (numbered, numbered, weighed **&** short). My modern Israeli friend could not decipher the script when we viewed it together at the UK National Gallery of Pictures. I was filled with admiration for Rembrandt: that this very human artist knew pious old Jews who could guide his hand to paint the genuine old Aramaic script, including the sign (“vav”) that stands for “&”.
can you paste the link to original writing on the wall if you have it?
The words are written in columns, from top to bottom — that is probably what confused your Israeli friend, and may be hinting at extra difficulty to interpretation even back in Daniel’s time. The script is not old Aramaic, but Masoretic Hebrew, although the language is Aramaic (similar languages, same alphabet, many different scripts).
It is all a play on words. Tekel is the same as a shekel, and mene is the same as a minah in the Bible.
At the time, coins and weights were often interchangeable (compare British pounds or French livres).
In Semitic languages, verb roots have 3 consonants, so we have a play on words referring to weights, or coins, or verbs, a kind of allegory in coins. Parsin means half coins (half a shekel), but also divided (Medes + Persians), distributed (from Babylonians to Medes/Persians). The waw precedes “divided”. Tekel=weighed/judged; Mene is repeated. The connotation is numbered/counted/limited, as in the end of the reign but also the object/accusative of weighed/judged, as in the verdict/found wanting.
Counted = your days are counted
Shoddy = your reign is sub par
Weighed = judged in the scales of justice
&Divided = redistributed to others
Very interesting! Thank you.
an ‘allegory in coins’, love it!
Dear Batiushka,
Your essay was worth reading just for the quote from Desmond Tutu. A very African ability to boil things down to their practical essence.
While I do not subscribe to any Christian explanation for events, I do not deny both the positive and negative effects of the organised Western Christian organisations. I do not know enough to comment on Christian phenomena, so I will leave that to one side. What I will say may be unpopular, but I believe it to be true from the evidence of my own eyes. Men, from al nations, seem to venerate, or be taught to venerate, the great murderers. From Ghengis Khan, who is a hero to the Mongols, along with Tamberlaine, whom our own Pepe Escobar seems to admire, judging by some of the essays he has written, to Julius Caesar, who murdered and enslaved hundreds of thousands of my co-ethnics, and attempted, largely successfully, to wipe out their religion. Then we have Napoleon, Chaka Zulu, Mao, Charles Martel, and on and on. I wonder is this a pre-programmed part of mankind; That we admire the most ruthless killers?
Also, there seems to be a tendency to only celebrate the winners among this ruthless crew. Many brave and resourceful men have fallen defending their people, and if they had won, perhaps they too would have gained immortal admiration from the masses.
Again, I leave that to the side and come to the core of my comment. Russia, in my opinion, will win this struggle, bearing in mind that going to war is always a failure in some sense. The reason will be the disunity of the West, which is largely a result of us hollowing out our ethnicities, cultures, institutions to the point where we cannot even agree officially on what is a woman. This state of affairs will last only so long as we are not truly punished for it. Pain is a great teacher for a stubborn student. This pain will not come from Russia, but from within our own societies, and it will fall hardest on the most stubborn and delusional. Many of us here have already mental moved away from the current civilisational state, and are ready to adapt to the new reality. I, for example, as a sculptor, will one day offer the works of Russian artists I admire in the West. I don’t know when this will happen, but the day will come when the sanctions against Russia fall, and I will be ready with a friendly attitude to start the interplay of trade and cultural relations again.
So, for the moment, I am trapped within a structure that is no longer fit for purpose, but I look forward to its. if not fall, than certainly, transformation. I look forward to the day when Britain is just a prosperous, happy and slightly inward looking island off the coast of a Europe that has freed itself from the priests of Mammon. This is not defeatist, as some would say, but a recognition that the people of the West deserve better. A time for rest, and realignment. A period of reflection, and a gathering of the spirit for the next great leap forward. I am just thankful that Russia, Africa, and China have proved, so far, up to the task of grinding the ‘Imps of financial
manipulation’, to a halt.
Cheers, and thanks for your insights.
You skipped Alexander, who is the most venerated of them all (thousands of towns and cities named after him).
Dig into his personal life story and you find a true delusional psychopath, reckless, grandiose, utterly cruel.
Relentless because he thought himself chosen by the gods and the oracle.
In the end, he boiled alive his best friend (harking back to childhood) out of jealousy, mistakenly so, and sent the corpse to his wife.
Alexander the Great hardly can be compared with others in that list.
First, he fought against a Persian empire that previously attacked Greece, Persia was also a powerful empire.
Second coming from his background he became in love with the culture he conquered, he installed the capital of his empire there, he promoted it…
Alexander the Great is a god compared with rubbish like Napoleon.
Julius César, Tamerlan or Gengis Khan can hardly be compared with modern people.
There were other times, other rules.
There will always be empires, what is not acceptable is a “ethnic racist empire” like Anglosaxon, French and Germans built.
Alexander the Great was magnanimous to his opponents (for example, after the Battle of Issus he captured Darius’s family and they were treated as royalty) and he kept a scientific ‘army’ during his campaigning in Asia where they collected flora and fauna then sent them to Aristotle ,Alexander’s former tutor, to catalogue.
Alexander also led his army into battle; the last time a Western leader led his army in battle was in 1742 when George II led his English into battle.
Sorry, but you are way off base.
“…the people of the West deserve better“
Thank you for well the thoughtful reflections.
It seems people keep choosing Barabbas over Christ. I am beginning to wonder if people really do serve any better.
To quote Charles Bukowski, “We are like roses that have never bothered to bloom when we should have bloomed and it is as if the sun has become disgusted with waiting.”
I always associated the Tutu quote with Malcolm X.
Perceptive analysis. Can you please tell us who the CIA asset (whom you describe near the end) in Russia is today at present?
I second that.
Yes, I would be very interested in learning this information also
I read the reply to this question further down the comment thread. When it is possible to reveal the answer, I ask that it be revealed to me too. Thank you
That naivety is curious isn’t it? It’s been troubling me for a while, too. After all, the Russians as a nation are far from stupid – they are in the main a very intelligent, and reality based people.
But there is, in fact, little to no link between objective rational intelligence, and emotions with their reactions. You can TELL yourself as much as you like that you are carrying an irrational, stupid guilt, for example, but it wont let the negative emotions go until you have grasped it intuitively, with imagination and full realisation. It’s the difference between understanding something using mathematics and a building plan, and grasping it by seeing a whole finished picture.
I have reflected recently, on how wrong is the old saying that “you cannot fool an honest man”. Only in some circumstances that might apply, but in fact, an honest person is the easiest to fool as I now realise after much self reflection of persons who have drifted through my life.
It’s because the honest person naturally assumes that everyone else is also honest. Now, they can tell themselves, rationally, that of course there are dishonest people out there, but nonetheless, in each of our dealings, we assume others are like ourselves. If I see no reason why I should not tell you a truth, I am the same with the things others tell me – why lie?
I think most Russian naivety comes from that – they are not at all like the perfidious, duplicitous, twisted, narcissistic depravity that lives in the heart of the Ruling Classes of the Old West, still living its anachronistic Paradigms. They have a basic decency that is not only empathy inspired but common sense driven. Why behave in such a dreadful manner after all? – what good can it do?.
I have read on a few small Russian blogs, of young Russians working in America, going to home trying to tell their home folk about how bad things are there, when they complain about Russia. And the despair the young ones feel that their relatives flatly refuse to believe it – “no no” they say, shaking their heads “America is not like that, in America all is wonderful”.
I was reminded, reflecting on this very recently, of the comment the writer Margaret Mitchell, gave to her protagonist Rhett Butler, speaking to Scarlett of the fact that Melanie Wilkes would never believe a bad word about her “She is so full of honour herself that she is unable to conceive of dishonour in anyone she loves”.
And that is Russia, having to realise that the nation many were taught to admire, is in fact, unutterably dishonourable.
But, from personal experience, let me inform those of the Old World – once we have been taken for a ride once too often, once we have woken up to the truth and learned to see dishonour – a door inside us slams shut, and we turn implacably and forever, against the offender.
And I suspect that, sooner rather than later, this will happen with Russia over it’s immense betrayal by the Old World West.
I think in the case of Putin it is not his lack of guile. He must have known after Minsk 1 that his partners were rather dodgy, so I don’t believe he was fooled or suckered.
In diplomacy there is not really any other principle to proceed except that of rational self-interest; otherwise all bets are off. Obviously Minsk was the best possible deal for Ukraine, and by reneging, every subsequent deal will be a worse outcome.
I think Putin had to allow the bad faith of his partners to be revealed in the fullness of time, intervening only when full on genocide in Donetsk seemed imminent (170K troops at the city’s threshold) — don’t forget the evacuation of the population that was attempted in the weeks leading up to Russian peace keepers entering Donetsk, only to be shelled by Ukraine, instead of Ukraine accepting Putin’s proposal of a ceasefire and negotiating the borders of the newly recognized Republics.
I don’t think Putin was particularly fooled, but he admits to one time when he acted on the word of America and was taken in because of it.
When they knew the Maiden demonstrations were about to start, he stated, in the documentary “Everything ………………… that Obama had contacted him to ask that all Armed police and forces backing the Police trying to control the demonstrators were called off, and that Obama would ensure that there were no threats from their side. Putin agreed and, as we know now, snipers were taken in by the American backers of the coup d’etat and people, including police, were killed, which blew the demonstrators out of control. His lip curled in disgust, Putin said “they [the American rulers} have no shame”.
So – I’m afraid it is clear he was still treating them as though they had some honour left in them. And he has himself said, recently, that Russia made a mistake not sending in troops to mount a Police Action immediately after Maidan. Many of us said that at the time, but assumed there must be a reason that Putin could not do it. Clearly his statement implies they could have, but took the Washington Cabal at their word.
Something that has not happened since, and I believe will not happen again for generations.
Apologies – I inadvertently posted without finding the link to the mentioned documentary. .
Incidentally, I am unable to watch this video here on Saker, due to a country restriction. it gives a message stating “You are unable to watch this video in your country.
Pamela,
– Have you tried Tor browser to bypass country restrictions?
– Also there is a program called AXshield (google it), a software VPN pretending you are visiting from another country. It is currently at v1.2.0. I’m using v1.0.0 because when I tried the newer version, it offered fewer countries than the old one. This may have changed since, but I’m satisfied with the old version. Where I live, some Russian sites hardly load, if at all, but load just fine and quickly with AXshield.
– If the videos are on Youtube, try inserting “nsfw” in the URL before “youtube” (so it looks nsfwyoutube/…) and hit Enter. In the window that opens, yo can watch or download the video. It’s also good for bypassing Youtube’s nanny nags like age verification and Youtube login.
Thank you Steve. No, I hadnt tried TOR, thanks for that heads up.
So far I have found if I have a problem with finding, or running things via Google, I just go to Yandex Search, and I can almost always find a site there that does what I want. So far, anyway. The link I posted was to Bitchute, which of course runs everywhere, via Yandex. But when the day comes that that doesnt work, I’ll be sure to try the Tor and also the VPNs you suggested.
Speaking of “thousand year Reichs” and things never changing, like the Fukuyama gibberish, shows again how sunken in stupidity the more recent Age of Empire has become.
More than 2,500 yr ago Heraclitus showed us that everything changes, always. It’s the one Universal Constant, demonstrated indeed by modern Chaos Theory and Complexity Theory. It was said that even death is not stasis, as the body changes as it disintegrates, and becomes integrated into other living forms. Most Empires last only one cycle of growth, peak and disintegration – the last {hopefully} Franco-Germanic Anglosaxon model has had about 4 peaks. Anyone with any grasp of reality and constant change would have to have foreseen that the end of this Empire was not going to be too far away, from whatever cause. Recent events since WWI have been prime indication that indeed, that end was now well on it’s way.
But still they closed their eyes, and refused to see anything but that which they wished to see. Another name for stupidity.
I like Batiushka’s Christian approach but I find his completely negative judgment on the Roman Empire to be exaggerated (I’m Italian and therefore ex Roman). Being a Christian he should in fact not forget that:
-Jesus was born, he wanted to be born, with Augustus at the beginning of the Roman empire, approving the empire de facto. And the most believer in Jesus was indeed a Roman centurion, who believed in him and in the resurrection of his daughter only seeing him when he said “I am not worthy of you but say just one word and my daughter will be healed”, so much so that these words they are repeated in every Christian mass
– The Roman Empire brought wars, but also civilization to nations that were truly “barbarian” at the time (although the term has been overused)
– It was the Roman Empire that spread Christianity
A few years ago a friend who is a builder accidentally unearthed a large Roman building in Chester…it was a black site, a giant torture chamber. The Roman Empire was entirely based on slavery, so there was really nothing positive about it.

“some 1,820 years later, the mountain kingdom of Montenegro was never subjugated by Nazi Germany” This part seems somewhat factually incorrect. In ww2 Montenegro wasn’t a kingdom but part of kingdom of Yugoslavia as Zetska banovina. It’s cities and roads were quite quickly taken over by fascist Italy, made into a protectorate, administration and parts of it’s population splintered from once fervently Serbian national corpus and tried to be molded into sort of anti-Serbia similar to how Ukraine is anti-Russia this day (moronic pro NATO neoMontenegrini even use fascist literally Italian E viva Montenegro salute) with debatable degree of success among ordinary populace.
Ideological heirs of ww2 colabortor Sekula Drljević unfortunately run that country examplified in Milo Đukanović. What is true that like in any empire highland regions resisted either as partisans or as chetniks or as hajduks under Turks. Still in large part the “unconquered Montenegro” trope is largely a myth. Old Montenegro was highland area much smaller than modern Montenegro, it’s significance disproportionally high because of it being theocracy led by prince-bishops and exarchs of Serbian Orthodox patriarchate which were one of only two independent remnants of Serbian Orthodox Church once Turks abolished . Still,by that criterium there were many more and larger areas both in other Serb lands and in rest of Ottoman Empire that could claim to have been unconquered. I doubt Turks climbed the highest reaches of Ararat or all nooks and cranies of Cappadocia or here Gledićke Planine, Dinara and Romanija.
Turks often managed to collect tribute from Montenegro, they managed to split it into administrative units, managed to burn Cetinje monastery on several occasions and more or less until late 18th century it was relatively indirectly governed only because they didn’t bother. But starting from 1790s it did become the first beacon of liberty to Serbs no matter how small (only modern day Cetinje municipality without access to sea). They also never managed to mold the populace into what they wanted, and neither did Austrians, Venetians, Germans and Italians. Communist came close, and UKUS closest but judging by massive processions in defence of Serbian Orthodox Church sanctuaries and Holy sites in 2020 people there is still far more defiant than Empire expected.
In reply to George Michalopulos:
There have been over the years a number of CIA assets among the Russian Orthodox episcopate and priesthood. All such have lived or still live outside Russia. We are not at liberty to reveal the names of these individuals, but at present we know of two bishop assets and one priest asset, who are alive, and two more suspected assets who are bishops. This information cannot yet be divulged, not because we fear assassination by the CIA, but because we fear the CIA assassination of those dear to us. Here we are not being dramatic, just realistic, given the totally ruthless nature of the CIA and its vassals in Western Europe. However, we believe that once the liberation of the Ukraine has been completed by the Russian heroes, these individuals will get their just desserts.
To blame for allowing these individuals to infiltrate the Russian Church and persecute traditionl Russian Orthodox in the first place? Not so much ‘kompromat’, compromising materials the CIA has in its possession to blackmail with, more that selfsame naivety in Moscow and the Russian inferiority complex vis a vis Westerners and Western academic qualifications and linguistic abilities. As I wrote in this article: I have lived for too long in the West not to see it.

It is interesting that the Soviet view was less naive, if we take the idea from the art>

a big big collection…
BTW, I myself have been known to write here MENE MENE TEKEL UPARSIN… Thus I applaud the essay!
Bravo Batiushka!
Well now, let’s have a bit of song…https://youtu.be/yiS5Zmlk2XQ

Maybe the British Empire did not collapse but turned into a financial empire instead? The spiders web, Britains second empire: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6483026/ , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n3txSCoKn0 .
Also: http://thesaker.is/the-special-relationship-how-the-british-reconquered-the-united-states-and-established-an-anglo-american-empire/. I find it plausible, that The City of London still controls the USA via Wall Street NYC, I must say: https://cynthiachung.substack.com/p/sugar-and-spice-and-everything-vice, and that a lot of shady things are going on under the surface to control the USA as a hidden, still colonial-like part of the UK financial empire to this day. Two parties are easy to infiltrate, and if that is first done, they are “owned” forever. Withney Webb has written a book called One nation under blackmail: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/51074723-one-nation-under-blackmail. I have not read it, but only some of her articles, but it is easy to imagine from there, how a, with all respect, “two party dictatorship” like the USA could be controlled from the shadows by strong financial powers and rouge forces in intelligence services combined with organized crime. That way to total shadow control. https://unlimitedhangout.com/2019/07/investigative-series/government-by-blackmail-jeffrey-epstein-trumps-mentor-and-the-dark-secrets-of-the-reagan-era/, https://unlimitedhangout.com/2022/03/investigative-reports/meet-ghislaine-heiress-to-an-espionage-empire/, https://unlimitedhangout.com/2021/12/investigative-reports/meet-ghislaine-daddys-girl/. Just some articles for illustration. I have no insider information.
It seems to me though, that the entire West is ruled by central control point, by the controllers of the financial system, and that City of London still is the physical place for exercising that control. Just a gut feeling, but?
Nice day to all, no matter what.
It was kicked up a notch when the Fed was created, and I think you are right, there can be many links in a chain, or not so many, but break one, and the whole chain collapses.
You sure know how to tell a story.
If I had to explain the current state of fellow westerners I’d say they’re willingly ignorant, naive.
You only need to scratch above the surface, and mask comes off. They’re terrified about what they might find out.
Anyone seen Aaron Russo’s videos and his death by cancer a year later?
His movies were fun to watch, and his information as early as 2004 about money controlled by implanted chip was way earlier than anyone heard about it.
Someone with better information could relate what he said much better.
In the time of Shakespeare, 600 years after the Norman conquest, the nobles were still speaking French !
Talk of occupation. No wonder England retains the most class-oriented society anywhwere.
The Romans justified every war against barbarians as defensive and preemptive in nature, for a thousand years.
Remind you of anything?
Except there is still a lot of physical dividing to do, and no one is around to do it, it seems.
Also Cynthia Chungs new book The Empire on which the Black Sun Never Set: The Birth of International Fascism and Anglo-American Foreign Policy: https://cynthiachung.substack.com/p/my-first-book-is-now-outthe-empire, could possibly give some extra information on the topic of “Western Empire”, I guess? Chapter 6 Operation Gladio: https://cynthiachung.substack.com/p/operation-gladio-how-nato-conducted. Chapter 7: A Damned Murder Inc: https://cynthiachung.substack.com/p/a-damned-murder-inc-kennedys-battle, Chapter 8: CIA, NATO and the Great Heroin Coup: How Miami Became the Center of International Fascism and the Murder of President Kennedy: https://cynthiachung.substack.com/p/cia-nato-and-the-great-heroin-coup. 3 chapters from her substack, just for the curious.
Nice day once again.
Re: Russian naivete about America, recall Otter’s statement to Flounder in Animal House: “You f—-d up. You trusted us.”
Mrs Dean Wormer, however, was not naive…
I’ve long wondered why Cyrus the Great (Messiah) granted Jews their freedom, a return to Israel and aid in rebuilding their Temple. The story goes that he was just, in general, generous with ALL vanquished people. Okay. Fine. But had the Jews, in some manner, assisted/facilitated the downfall of Babylon and the Persian conquest; freedom, etc being received in consideration of services rendered? Given the usual nature of conquerors that seems, to me, in keeping with Imperial business-as-usual practices, rather than “Wow! He was such a nice guy!”.
As far as the Persian Empire was concerned the Jews were totally insignificant. In Persian records they are described as a minor tribe of nomads, indistinguishable from neighbouring Arab tribes, and notable only for their religious fanaticism.
Who is “an American who has a prominent position in a Russian organisation, whom we knew to be a CIA spy from the very outset”? Maybe I missed it, but was his or her name given?
Wait, wait, wait no fair! Who’s the CIA asset still playing a major role in Russia?
What a great scientific article. You know something that many people do not know? And the reason of why there are anarchists, and anarchism ideology? Because I read in a book by Nietzsche (one of my favorite thinkers) that the state, the governments, was really created not because of a social contract like Rousseau and other liberal thinkers claim, but really it was born by the mind of band of criminals thousands of years, along with the states constitutions, laws etc. with the main objective of stealing the wealth of countries where states-governments have been applied. And former Senator Robert Bird, said something related to that. He claimed that the history of the world, is really a 5000 years old war of an oligarchic-plutocracy against the majority of humans.
PS 1: Nietzsche wrote that in the future because people will be more evolved mentally their won’t be states-governments. Because governments only exist because of the dumbness, pacifism, conformism and moralism of the masses
PS 2: Indeed if humans were smart and rational there wouldn’t be oligarchic states, and probably no states at all

President Putin was recently shocked when he found out that Germany’s Merkel and France’s Hollande lied to him

I don’t believe in this! The Russians saw and understood everything, but than they did not have the strength for the final reckoning.
Dear Batiushka,
I always enjoy the historical perspective in your articles, thank you!
This was so well written. Thank you. My epiphany while reading was the mental picture of the obelisk and dome set up that you will find in three key cites, Rome, City of London, and DC. Good job interpreting Daniel. The US military industrial complex is the young he goat from the west in Daniel 8.
Thank you to the author for the beautiful image of Calgacus, and his very accurate historical account.
Anatoliy Golitsyn and various Soviet defectors literally screamed to the West about the eventual, staged Soviet collapse around the 1980s. However, the West was too stupid to listen as they were busily financializing their economy and de-industrializing their military/economy for profits. They took the warnings of Karl Marx-Friedrich Engels and Michael Hudson as guidance to make economic profits not saving themselves. How stupid is that? Now, they literally have nothing to hedge against their own decline.
The collective West is economically bankrupt and geopolitically isolated as exactly as Anatoliy Golitsyn and Yuri Bezemov predicted. I am not surprised because this is the natural outcome of capitalism as Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, and Rosa Luxembourg predicted. The staged collapse of the USSR was necessary to lure the West into complacency and seize their means of production. Today, China and Russia along with their allies just did that.
