INTRODUCTION:
Yesterday’s press conference by Strelkov is, I believe, a historical moment because it marks the move of Strelkov from the Novorussian military struggle into the much larger, and far more dangerous struggle, the struggle for the political future of Russia. This in itself is no necessarily unexpected, but the way he did it was a surprise, at least for me. But before I zoom out to the bigger picture, I think that it would be helpful to try to summarize some of the key points of his presentation (thanks to Marina, you can download the full English transcript by clicking here and the Q&A is here). Here is how I summarized what I saw as the key elements of his presentation:
External factors (staging) – symbolic message:
- He is clearly alive and well
- The reason for his departure was infighting inside the Novorussian leadership and the fact that he was told that supplies would only be delivered if he left.
- The photo of Putin in the back on the wall
- He is sitting behind a Russian monarchist flag on the table (and a Russian and Novorussian flag in the back (no Soviet or Communists symbols)
His view about the ceasefire agreement:
- This ceasefire has now created military situation is now worse than this spring
- What is disgraceful is not the ceasefire by itself but “the conditions which are now being discussed in Minks”
- There is plan to blame the betrayal of Novorussia on Putin
- There are powerful interests which want a never ending war which would create a bleeding ulcer for Russia
His description of the 5th column:
- The roots of this 5th column go back to the Eltsin years
- The liberation of Crimea took the 5th column by surprise
- The 5th column is around President
- There is a local 5th column in Donbass which has been and still is negotiating with Ukie oligarchs
- The 5th column is composed of “liberals”
- Putin is a moral threat to them because he has massive popular support
- They want to overthrow Putin
- They want to dismember Russia
- This will be a long war on Russia
- We are dealing with another 1905 and 1917 like situation
- By saving Novorussia Russia can save itself
- Western sanctions will hurt Russia and they will use them to discredit Putin
Strelkov’s plans
- Strelkov wants to fight inside Russia in support of Putin (only option)
- Strelkov’s main objective is to denounce the real traitors inside Russia
This is my personal rendition of the key elements of Strelkov’s presentation, and I might have missed or misunderstood something, so I therefore encourage everybody to watch to the video again and read the transcript.
ZOOMING OUT TO THE GREATER CONTEXT:
Before going further into my analysis of Strelkov’s statements, I think that it is crucial to keep the bigger context in mind. His words are not just the words of a man speaking for the Novorussian Armed Forces (NAF) or a Novorussia hero, this time Strelkov is diving straight into the big and dangerous world of Russian “deep state” politics (though the term “deep state” does not really apply to Russia). So I will now return to a topic I have been covering for many years now.
Long-time readers will probably recall that I often spoke of a behind-the-scenes struggle between what I called the “Eurasian Sovereignists” (ES) and the “Atlantic Integrationists” (AI). I will not repeat it all here, but I do encourage you to read the following articles:
- http://sakerlatam.blog/the-saker-files/russia-and-islam-part-six-the-kremlin/

The two first articles are part of a much longer seven-part series on Islam, but they introduce the historical context of the development of the ES and AI factions. The next two I would consider mandatory reading if you are not familiar with the topic and the last one is just a more recent discussion of the role of these two factions in the current Cold War v2. Having said that, my key thesis is this:
The “5th column” Strelkov refers to are the very same people I call Atlantic Integrationists.
Strelkov names no names, but he describes them very accurately (see above) and he adds that they only value “money and other material resources”. They are the Russian equivalent of the AngloZionist 1%ers. Their main political goal is to fully integrate Russia into the AngloZionist international system on a financial, political, economic and cultural levels. They see Russia as “European” and they believe that “the West” (i.e. the AngloZionist Empire) and Russia need to stand together against Islam, China and any other non-imperial ideology, religion, nation or alliance. They believe in capitalism and they are opposed to a “social state” (to use Putin’s description of modern Russia) and they are systematically contemptuous of the “masses” though they try hard not to show this aspect of their worldview. These are the folks who gradually took power during the 1980s and who had the predatory instincts to seize the moment in the early 1990s to rapidly and ruthlessly acquire an absolutely unimaginable amount of wealth, stolen from the Russian people.
Now, it is true that due to an absolutely brilliant move by the Russian security services during the late 1990s and thanks to the chaos in which Russia was plunged, these AI (aka 5th columnists) did make a fatal mistake. Their plan was to put forward a rather uninspiring and dull bureaucrat into power and surround him by men coming from their own circles. What they did not foresee is that this rather uninspiring and dull bureaucrat would turn into one of the most formidable statesmen in Russian history – Putin – and that he would immediately set out to decapitate the top layers of the AI – the so-called “oligarchs” and the thugs who enforced their rule – and their armed branch- the Chechen Wahabi insurgency. Putin acted so fast that he rapidly ended up in full control of the so-called “power ministries” (state security, presidential security, internal affairs, armed forces, emergency services) and, which is crucial, an immense popular support. In a way, this combination of state power and popular support made Putin untouchable, but that also limited his power.
While the top and most notorious AI columnists either left Russia (Berezovsky) or were put in jail (Khodorkovsky) or died, the system they had created was still very much in place. Banking, the natural resources industry, the weapons trade, financial services and, of course, the media were still very much in their hands. So when the most arrogant one of them, Khodorkovsky, was jailed the two factions (ES and AI) achieved something of a compromise, a temporary ceasefire if you wish. The deal was this: first, as long as they don’t try to take over the Kremlin and generally stay out of politics, the AI would be allowed to keep their wealth and continue to make huge profits; second, the top power would be shared between the ES (Putin, Rogozin, Patrushev, etc.) and the AI (Medvedev, Kudrin, Surkov, etc.).
The first big blow which Putin delivered against the AI was the firing of Serdiukov and, even “worse”, his replacement with Shoigu. The second massive blow was, according to Strelkov (and I agree), the operation to liberate Crimea. According to Strelkov, this operation was a huge blow to the interests of these 5th columnist because they immediately realized that it would set Russia and the AngloZionists on a collision course. They therefore gathered all their forces to a) prevent a Russian military intervention in the Donbass and b) make a deal with the oligarchs now in power in Kiev. I fully share this analysis.
Russian vs Novorussian strategic interests
Here comes the tricky part. There are a few assumption made by many bloggers which are the result of a fundamental flaws in logic:
- Russian and Novorussian interests are one and the same
- Anything supported by the AI is bad for Russia
- Putin is in full control and can do whatever he wants
- Novorussian leaders are always right by virtue of their heroic struggle
- Disagreeing with Novorussian leader is a sign of stupidity, betrayal or dishonesty (including for Putin himself)
Reality is not quite that simple. For one thing, Russian and Novorussian interests are not only one and the same, they are in direct opposition on a crucial matter: Novorussia wants full independence from Kiev (whoever is in power) while Russia wants regime change in Kiev and maintain a unitary Ukraine. Second, while the fact that Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs are trying to hammer out a deal to stop the war and maintain a unitary Ukraine this might or might not be bad for Russia. Now, before I get accused of God only knows what, let me explain:
During the late 1980s and the 1990s a bizarre kind of “partial fusion” took place between the Russian mob and the KGB. I know, sounds crazy, but it is nonetheless true and yours truly has personally seen it and personally met ex-KGB officers working in the Russian mob. However, as some say, there is no such thing as an “ex-KGB” officer. Well, in reality there is, but in most cases, at least informal contacts are maintained. So here is how I would very roughly summarize this bizarre association:
In the 1980s: corrupt KGB officers realize that a lot of money can be made in the underworld and some official of the internal security branch of the KGB (2nd Main Directorate) found ways to profit from tight contacts with the mob.
In the early 1990: a lot of young and smart KGB officers realize that their skills are useless in the KGB, they resign and immediately find very good positions in the “New Russian” world (at that time 100% mobsters) and use their skills (language, education, work capability, courage) to make loads of money
These were terrible years for the KGB/FSB, but they also had one positive impact: the more corrupt and less patriotic officers left leaving many idealists behind them, idealists which would, with time, climb up the ranks.
Now here comes the really interesting part:
In the mid 1990s-2000: the successor to the KGB, the SVR and FSB came to realize that they had a fantastic network of potential collaborators in the newly created world of Russian business, finance, commerce, tourism, etc. They act on this and begin use this mostly “ex-mob now turned legit” worldwide network for state security purposes and industrial/commercial espionage. Even the military intelligence service, the GRU, begins to do the same with ex-officers now working in aerospace, electronics, communications, etc.
[Off-topic but interesting sidebar: there is another most valuable network which the SVR/FSB/GRU also began to use during this period: the huge number of Jews from Russia who emigrated to the USA and Israel. Keep that in mind when you think about Russian-Israeli relations]
2000-today: Putin and his backers begin their behind the scenes secret but ruthless war on the Atlantic Integrationists who are fundamentally oppose to the Eurasian Sovereignists who are now firmly behind Putin. Most importantly the security services who are controlled by Putin allies develop a network of potential supporters inside the basis of power of the Atlantic Integrationists. See how complex that becomes?
So while some superficial analysts are correct when they say that the Russian oligarchs are generally 5th columnists and dangerous enemies of Putin, what they are missing is that a) not all oligarchs fall into this category and b) that Putin has the means to influence or even coerce some anti-Putin oligarchs thanks to his control of the security services and their network inside the oligarchs power base.
So here is the crucial point: the relationship between the Kremlin and the Russian oligarchy is a very complex one. Yes, by and large, it is correct to say that we have Putin, the security services, the military, the common Russian people on one side and the oligarchs, the liberal intelligentsia, big business, banking, finance and CIA agents on the other. But in reality, this is a primitive model, the reality is infinitely more complex. I know I am going to get even more hate coming my way for saying that, but some oligarchs are (for whatever reason) Putin allies or Putin controlled-individuals. I have met some personally in the late 1990s and I am quite sure that they are still there. Why?
Because there is a lot of money to be made in Russia by being on Putin’s side. For one thing, if you are in good terms with the Kremlin, you become untouchable for the rest of the more-or-less legal “business” world. You also get juicy contracts. And the tax authorities might not be as meticulous when you file for taxes. Again, the black-and-white Putin vs oligarchs image is generally true, but only as a primitive model.
ZOOMING BACK IN TO STRELKOV’S PRESS CONFERENCE
Let’s remember where Strelkov came from. While little is certain about him, he appears to be an ex-FSB Colonel (in anti-terrorism), who fought as a volunteer in Yugoslavia, Transnistria and Chechnia. He is also a historian, a columnist and he likes to participate in military recreations. He is a monarchist, an Orthodox Christian and and admirer of the White movement during the civil war. In Novorussia, however, he entered a totally different level jumping in one rapid, gigantic most successful leap from anti-terrorism Colonel to what could be roughly described as an divisional or even army corp commander who turned a volunteer militia force into a more or less regular army. That is a huge feat: From almost nobody he became the #1 hero and commander of the entire Novorussian resistance. And yet, Novorussia is tiny compared to Russia and big Novorussian politics are tiny compared to big Russian politics. And yet, in yesterday’s press conference Strelkov made yet another huge leap – he jumped from Novorussian military issues straight into the single most complex and dangerous struggle I can imagine: the secret behind-the-scenes struggle for power in the Kremlin. It is far too early to tell if this move will be as successful as his previous one, Strelkov went from swimming with Piranhas to swimming with Great White sharks, but I am cautiously optimistic. Here is why:
Strelkov’s potential in the Russian struggle for power
Putin is acutely aware of the fact that his official power base (the state apparatus) is chock-full of 5th columnists. The best proof for that is that he did two very interesting things:
a) He created the All-Russia People’s Front (ARPF) which unlike the official party in power, United Russia, was not created with a strong Medvedev/Atlantic Integrationist component, but was created by Putin alone. Officially, the ARPF is not a party but a “political-social movement” which is supposed to bring together a large segment of generally pro-Kremlin organizations and individuals and to provide a way for the common people to convey their concerns to Putin. In reality, however, it is also a “political party in waiting”, very large, very well connected and which Putin can “turn on” at any time, especially if challenged from inside United Russia.
b) Putin’s security services have contributed to the creation of a plethora of “near-Kremlin entities” (околокремлевские круги) which officially have no subordination to the Kremlin, but which can get a lot of things done without the government involved or, even, informed. These near-Kremlin entities include some news outlets, some commercial entities, a number of clubs, some youth organizations, news agencies, etc. There is no formal list, no admission procedure, no one leader. But somehow, there are always people with contacts to the security agencies near or in these circles.
This is were Strelkov fits in.
Strelkov will first and foremost represent the interests of the people of Novorussia, but since he correctly identified the Russian 5th column as the main threat to Novorussia, he also is objectively becoming an ally of Putin in a common struggle against the Atlantic Integrationists. Now, let us be clear here. Strelkov and Putin will not agree on a number of issues. Strelkov clearly indicated that when he said
“No matter how critical I am about certain internal or external policy decision of president in conditions of war started against us, I consider it necessary to support him as the only legitimate superior commander the main guarantor of freedom and independence of the state”
- Putin’s Address to the Federal Assembly (March 18th)
- The press conference by by Alexander V. Zakharchenko (August 26th)
- Yesterday’s Strelkov’s press conference (September 11th)
Putin, Zakharchenko and Strelkov all three fully realize that what is going on is nothing shot of a war on Russia, but waged, at least for the time being, by non-military means. All three know that the biggest threat to Russia is an internal one. But all three can claim that the other two do not speak for him. After all, one is the President of Russia, the second one is a top representative of Donetsk and Novorussia, while the third one is, technically speaking, a retired officer and a private individual. Yet all three together are politically encircling the Russian 5th column into a “political cauldron” in which they either support Putin or look like traitors. A potentially very effective technique.
The second role of Strelkov is to denounce and discredit the Putin-bashers who are constantly declaring that “Putin is backstabbing or betraying Novorussia”. I predict that in a near future the very same circles who until now had taken the position that Putin is a villain and Strelkov a hero will declare that Strelkov is a villain and a traitor too. Some of these guys are manipulated by western PSYOP specialists, others are simply paid by them, but their goal is to convince the world that Putin is the bad guy and that a “real” patriot needs to replace him. In other words, that Russia can only be saved by making the AngloZionist dream of a regime change in Russia come true. But then, these are the very same people who wanted to save Novorussia by making the other AngloZionist dream, of having an overt Russian military intervention in the Donbass, also come true. My advice in regards to such “sorrow-patriots” as they are called in Russia is simple: beware of those who want to save Russia by making an AngloZionist dream come true. If you keep that in mind, the enemies of Russia will be fairly easy to spot :-)
CONCLUSION
I was amazed and tremendously encouraged by Strelkov’s very sophisticated presentation of his position yesterday. Though this might be too early to conclude, and I might be uncharacteristically optimistic about this, I believe that Strelkov has the potential to become the Novorussian leader I was hoping would emerge. If that is so, then I will gladly plead guilty of having underestimated him. Still, I will also admit that I am very concerned for him. The fact that apparently the Russia media has given his press conference little or no attention combined with the rumor that he had killed himself is a powerful message sent to him by the 5th column who is showing how powerful it still is. In particular, I consider the rumor about his suicide as a very serious death threat. Even worse, and maybe these are my paranoid inclination speaking here, there are a lot of people on both sides who might be interested in seeing Strelkov killed. The Atlantic Integrationists and their 5th column would want him dead because he is so openly denouncing them, but make no mistake, there could also be Eurasian Sovereignists who might want him dead to have him as a martyr and symbol of Russian heroism. Is that cynical and ugly? Yes. And so is the struggle for power in Russia. Most people in the West have no idea how ruthless this struggle can be. Unlike Putin, Strelkov is not protected by an extremely powerful state security apparatus and, considering that he can be hit from either side. He better be very *very* careful.
Just for accepting to play the role he is playing now (and he, being an ex-FSB colonel, fully knows the risks) I consider him a hero and he has my sincere admiration. “They” will try to use him, threaten him, manipulate him, discredit him and use every dirty trick possible to either control him or crush him. Truly, his fate is already a tragic one and his courage remarkable. Fighting the Ukie Nazis, the Chechen Wahabis or the Croat Ustashe was a relaxing vacation compared to the kind of “warfare” going on in the struggle for the control of Russia. Since Russia is the de-facto leader of both the BRICS and the SCO the struggle for Russia is really a struggle for the future of the planet. I believe that Strelkov understands that.
The Saker
Thanks for allowing me to understand this scenario better. I agree with your “conclusion” and also relay my admiration to this man “a true Patriot”
He has demonstrated outstanding bravery – I pray he remains safe and achieves his Goals
Saker, I don’t know if you mentioned it elsewhere (not having read ALL your posts), but I would like you to consider the neocon Project for a New American Century, which was basically about increasing the USA’s military, and remaining THE preeminent superpower…for THIS century. This includes preventing ANY other power – Russia or China in particular obviously – from challenging the USA’s dominance. This comes from the (original) wolfowitz doctrine: ‘The U.S. must show the leadership necessary to establish and protect a new order that holds the promise of convincing potential competitors that they need not aspire to a greater role or pursue a more aggressive posture to protect their legitimate interests. In non-defense areas, we must account sufficiently for the interests of the advanced industrial nations to discourage them from challenging our leadership or seeking to overturn the established political and economic order. We must maintain the mechanism for deterring potential competitors from even aspiring to a larger regional or global role.’ etc.
Do also read Mearsheimer’s Why the Ukraine Crisis Is the West’s Fault if you haven’t yet done so (likewise for anybody else).
This is on the American Council on Foreign Relations’s website:
http://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/141769/john-j-mearsheimer/why-the-ukraine-crisis-is-the-wests-fault
Wouldn’t it be ironic if Russia ended up schooling the U.S. on the real terroristic threats to our liberty and democracy?
I know, I know… but one can always dream.
Saker,
Russia’s “fifth column” is on a retreat. And a relentless one. For years. They are not “white sharks” anymore. Not even “piranhas” (I personally find piranhas scarier than sharks, but that’s a separate subject).
My guess is that even Minsk armistice is not what it seems. In this war nothing is.
Strelkov, IMHO, was removed not because of some treasonous plot, but because Kremlin wanted Donbass natives to be the face of the rebellion. Having Russians in charge was becoming counterproductive, for obvious reasons.
Strelkov knows that, of course. That’s why he says he is unlikely to go back. He is at peace with that. He endorsed Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky yesterday. I saw no sign of anxiety or doubt in him.
As for the ceasefire itself, take a look at a map. Donbass fighters stopped not because of some “betrayal”, but because they don’t want to go any further. Moving deeper into Ukraine would extend their supply lines (from Russia) too much.
In fact, the ideal scenario for them is to be right where they are, but to make Ukie Army come to them, where they could quickly destroy whatever is left of it. The way I see it, this is one of the most sophisticated military operations of all time. Hopefully Ukies keep moving forward, where they’ll continue being ground to dust.
Once that’s done and Ukrainian Army ceases to exist, the NAF can roll into the strategic emptiness, all the way to Odessa as if it was all-inclusive vacation, without any significant resistance.
They may even go to Kiev, if they decide to do so. There will be nobody to stop them.
I read that “Brain” is forming a military counsel to govern a united Novorossii and do away with being the two Republics. And called on the two leaders to resign. Now I’m torn on this.I’ve always thought that one structure should have been started in the beginning. That part of the biggest problems was disunity. And I thought when it was announced the forming of the NAF that would take place. But at the same time will that cause more infighting. The Tweets coming across right now are talking about some big fighting taking place in several locations. So the ceasefire is breaking down a lot.
UK Torygraph angry that a Scottish independence supporter trolled three ‘Better Together’ politicians including former UK Foreign Minister Jack Straw with the Imperial Death March from ‘Star Wars’

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiMXuEmqAHA
Yes it’s childish behavior, but the Torygraph’s hissy fit and the butthurt of @MichaelDWeiss a supposed American citizen formerly with the neocon in London HQ Henry Jackson Society is telling.
There was a book written in the late 1930s called TOTAL ESPIONAGE. It went into detail how Petain and others in France were the Fifth Column, preferring being run by the Nazis than being run by the elected socialist.
I’m sure that Russia has a lot of them in business and government, ready to make a deal with the US or Germany, ready to profit from their fellow citizens’ miseries. The CIA and the people they represent are masters at such things.
And Lenin excoriated the liberals of his day, the Mensheviks. So shouldn’t Vladimir Ilyich at least get an honourable mention?
Oh, and does Strelkov expect the Russian people to accept another Tsar and a landed elite to sing his praises? That’s a stretch.
Well, atleast that is somethibng postive, the freaks that wants Russia to unite with EU and the western culturalmarxist have had a setback, now the Russian population is increasingly hostile to USA/west and the west is increasingly hostile to Russia,
“The 5th column is around President”
If true, why does Putin allow that? Do you consider him naive, ignorant or powerless? Please…
Putin is on the top of the power vertical; ultimately, he responsible for the situation.
he’s keeping his friends close & his enemies closer …
he can keep an eye on them this way
they hold no aces of force…
If Strelkov dies tonight, he will be a martyr to Novorussia and Russia, he has achieved that status in a few months time, a symbol of the revolution and the White. But I hope he lives. And I look forward to the Red, now represented by Mozgovoi, Gubarev and the Donbass people. Let the Red banner fly over Odessa and Kharkiv! Reconcile the White and the Red for the future of the world!
‘Every good communist must learn, political power grows out of the barrel of a gun’
This interview with Evgeny Fedorov covers many of the same subjects.
It took place on 03 Sep 2014 and is subtitled in English. The transcript is in the youtube comments.
The Purge is coming. Evgeny Fedorov
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qLMG0KD3rI (44:56)
Synopsis (with timing markers):
A psychological shift has begun in Russia, where the visible catalyst has been the war in Donbass, explains Evgeny Fedorov, a Deputy in the Russian Parliament.
Within the ruling political and business elite a split has appeared, where some, by their basic survival instinct, have chosen to support Putin’s path of national sovereignty, while the others are expected to either join them or be purged (13:54). The mass media, on the other hand, is working against the nation (11:13), he claims.
In detail:
The real reason why Igor Strelkov resigned from his position as Defense Minister of the Donetsk People’s Republic (04:05) and why national structures have not formed in Donbass, despite their declarations of sovereignty in May 2014 (01:21).
Legislation is being prepared for ‘mandatory de-offshoring’ of supposedly Russian corporations, 3/4 of which have a complex foreign ownership structure (23:13). Non-compliance will mean asset seizure.
Other essential and inevitable measures include nationalization of the Central Bank (28:34), breaking the tributary link with foreign central banks, and lowering interest rates to facilitate industrialization and job-creation.
The liberation movement is publishing a kind of “5th column assessment card”, a formula by which anyone’s actions and position can be assessed objectively (18:27 & 43:57).
While the technology of Orange Revolution against Russia is stuttering, Fedorov warns of the consequences of visible NATO troops in Ukraine (39:32), even if ostensibly only for ‘exercises’: the point of no return is passed and increasingly visible pressure upon Russia to surrender and be subordinated is now having the opposite effect – strengthening support for sovereignty.
The spiritual reason why a series of attempts by the West to conquer Russia have failed, including 200 and 400 years ago (35:45).
“…the very same people who wanted to save Novorussia by making the other AngloZionist dream, of having an overt Russian military intervention in the Donbas, also come true…”
Are you referring to Paul Craig Roberts, among others? I’ve been suspicious of him ever since he started urging this kind of thing.
Saker many thanks for your clarifying analysis.
What you have said makes sense of the mere fragments of understanding I have gathered, it all rings true and makes sense of many things that were mysterious to me.
This is a world wide struggle for the future, or rather to have any sort of future as the US empire (not country) offers nothing; not even hope.
The BRICs and the SCO and therefore Putin is definitely at the forefront and the 1% is definitely the problem.
We should not get fixated on oligarchs and the rich here or in Moscow, what matters is where they stand, and the more they come over to make money on our side the better, buying them off is the cheapest of all options.
The nexus is through the “liberals” who not without purpose make themselves easily manipulated (I am not painting them as evil, but as reductionist, opportunist and having a pathological craving for political recognition, which perhaps makes them the most dangerous to the world).
Well done and a humbling intellectual tour de force — many thanks
The Atlantic Integrationists and their 5th column would want him dead because he is so openly denouncing them, but make no mistake, there could also be Eurasian Sovereignists who might want him dead to have him as a martyr and symbol of Russian heroism. Is that cynical and ugly? Yes. And so is the struggle for power in Russia.
I doubt the ES would kill him for that. If that was the case he would be given more coverage in the Russian media.
Again here is the second video of Igor Strelkov with DPR media.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spsyRowWmbE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6k3mRB6BN30
He mentions that they may reveal their plans in the coming week or two.
One important aspect you touched upon indirectly is his views on democracy. He is without a doubt 100% monarchist.
Russia
The 1917 revolution can be compared to the less violent 1908 revolution by the (Donmeh) Young Turks. Their (YT) relationship and dealings with communist Russia was somewhat revealing.
When Mustafa Kemal eventually got into power, he banned or tried to ban lots of aspects of Islam in Turkey, from the Arabic language, script, force of wearing of Western Clothes etc. He was trying to become like the Europeans and had a great hatred for Islam. Of course he was praised by the Western elites back then as an example of a democratic leader.
Democracy plays well in the hand of those who control the money and media.
Saker there is a rather confusing mistake in the following paragraph:
“2000-today: Putin and his backers begin their behind the scenes secret but ruthless war on the Atlantic Integrationists who are fundamentally oppose to the Eurasian Sovereignists who are now firmly behind Putin. Most importantly the security services who are controlled by Putin allies develop a network of potential supporters inside the basis of power of the ***Atlantic Sovereignists***. See how complex that becomes?”
The last sentence refers to “Atlantic Sovereignists” – which is am amalgam of your two terms.
Unity, best tool and weapon there is. Hard to achieve, harder to keep. But impossible for Enemy to use.
You are being uncharacteristically optimistic in your speculations that all three have been drinking from the same spring. The Hero, the President and the Little Brother. But potential held in that three man and their respective postings/roles is overwhelming. It does sound a bit like a beginning of a fairy tale. You see, your uncharacteristic optimism is contagious. Expect calls from WHO.
Thx for clarification of ES/AI division and power struggles. It was foolish to assume that house would be cleared only few years after so much chaos following the breaking of USSR. Still,it hurts seeing and hearing of dealings with oligarchs. That era need to be closed if RF is to go forward and survive “the war not declared upon them”. The sooner the better and with high profile, in order to galvanize the much needed unity.
Very, very good job Saker. Keep the Vineyard clear of vermin.
an incredible assessment of the situation and actually on a world stage quite frightening. The US is therefore going to aid and abet the 5th column in all ways possible whilst sitting in the ukraine (NATO) just in case Putin crushes the 5th column and he and BRICs become the massive threat they can become to US hegemony. It truly is a struggle for the future of mankind and a free world because under complete angloZionist control the world will never be free. So very complex.
@Old Ez:Saker there is a rather confusing mistake in the following paragraph
Oh crap! You are right, and that is a nasty typo!! Thanks for catching it for me. My brain must be fried or something. I will blame it on a senior moment.
Thanks a lot, friend!
Cheers,
The Saker
PS: typo now corrected! :-)
The latest I’m seeing is that the battle for Donetsk airport is huge. And hopefully we can take it and end the shelling from there.Though I don’t know what that will do to the ceasefire.Or to our side if we lose the battle. Two other reports, though I’m not sure how accurate they are.One that in the last days Russia has shipped high level anti-aircraft weapons to the NAF.And the second has a picture showing a freight-train on fire after an explosion in Kharkov.Possibly an ammo shipment for the junta forces. That partisans are destroying.I’ve thought for a while they should hit the weapons trains.
You may ask yourself, why does US/NATO continue to sanction Russia based on its ad nauseam claims of Russian intervention in Ukraine? Because, facts mean diddly squat. They capitalize on the fact that the Russian nation and the Russian diaspora are not the same. They know that this is Putin’s conundrum and the reason he continues to walk the beam of non intervention, but allows Russian citizens and NGO’s to help the besieged Russians in the Donbas.
The empire’s definition or Russia is as ambiguous as Poroshenko’s notion of a cease-fire. They uses this ignorance to justify their apoplectic assaults of a thousand cuts (sanctions), in order to force Russia to comply with its dictates. This act of war is effective because the Russia economy is not diversified. You remember McCain’s rant of Russia being a gas station posing as a country?
However, sanctions are only effective so long as Russia does not repatriate its capital, investments and assets abroad, continues to use the dollar, and does not move Russia to a war footing. Why? Because if Russia moves to a war footing, the Russian oligarchs that have more in common with Obama than the Russians of the Donbas can not be brought to heal. As it stands, the 5th column will continue to protect their investments abroad at the cost of the Russian diaspora and nation.
However, a war footing will make such duplicity unpatriotic and may be even viewed as treasonous. In which case Putin will be able to bring those dogs to heal; convert them to borne again good citizens that invest in Russia or seize their assets. Moreover, the guns of the 4th estate of the 5th column will fall silent.
Even if Russia does everything the empire wants; abandon the Russians of Novorossia to the Nazi meat grinder, open up the vast natural resources of Russia to plunder by western conglomerates, that may buy the world a decade, at best. However, in the long run, that would breath life into the nation killing machine gasping its last breaths. It would perpetuate the same horror show of regional conflicts with global scope and implications that would increase in frequency and ferocity. It will eventually end very badly for not just Russia. So far Russia has not moved to a war footing. However, with the food sanctions on the empire, and Russian investment in its agriculture industry, It is slowly moving in the direction of self sufficiency.
Igor Strelkov’s press conference on September 11th 2014, infers that the Russia’s next steep is to move Russia to a war footing. Most importantly, Strelkov’s public service announcement infers, not just to the 5th column, but all of the enemies of Russia, that this struggle can not be stopped by simply removing Putin from power. Strelkov has announced that there is an existential threat to the 5th column in Russia; with or without Putin or even himself. I see Strelkov’s news as Putin’s last chance to play nice communique before he moves Russia to a war footing. However, and as usual, Russians are a bit too subtle for westerners. I do not think the west got the message.
That really makes sense and explains quite bit of the strange allegations going back and forth seen lately.
Colonel Cassad 12th September has a DIFFERENT interview in which Strelkov comments on the state of the Ukraine army, but the translator won’t translate the text. Can you get a translation posted here?
Saker, so there is a final question.
What means this press conference at all?
What was Strelkovs target, giving the World These informations?

Thanks for this wonderful explanation, tutorial, and analysis all rolled into one. May I state a few points to encourage thought:
(1) I have always felt that Russia and Putin have been dealing with this round of serious western aggression from a position of weakness. Not only internal weakness (which you have explained so well in this article)but also economic and military weakness.
(2) I still feel that a quick response to the genocide started by Nato-guided Ukies should have been to recognize East Ukraine as “An ethnic Russian-majority Ukrainian province under special and temporary Russian protection”. See the international diplomatic pitch here? (a)”Temporary humanitarian protection” (b) “Pending the formation of a legitimate Ukrainian govt” by free and fair internationally monitored elections; and (c) A firm insistence that any further Nato bases closer to Russian borders would be immediately pre-empted, using nuclear strikes if necessary.
(3) It seems that Putin opted for the least-immediate-risk path, based on: (a) wait and watch; and (b) Try to prize EU out of US orbit by exhibiting restraint and friendly behaviour. The problem with (a) is that the wound continues to fester and the problem with (b) is that the EU is a pack of hyenas, with Germany in the lead, and they wait in the wings for the lion to do the kill.
(4) Not meeting the problem head-on early on has actually increased medium and long term risks: (a) Further encirclement of Russia; (b) Endless economic sanctions (warfare, actually); and (c) weakening economy leading to growing internal divisions in Russian society and govt.
(5) I say all the above with a heavy heart, and sincerely hope there are silver linings that I am missing and recognize fully that I know so little. But I do wish that Putin had taken firmer and more decisive action early-on.
(6) Lastly, I am so saddened to read you explaining how Byzantine Russian politics still is. I pray Russians will go back to their old idealism.
God be with Putin, Russia, its people, and the poor and oppressed of the world.
uh-duh,
Lenin is a Godfather of Ukraine. It was him who transfered Novorossia to Ukraine.
If anyone should be toppling his monuments, it should be Russians. And it should be Ukies praising him and “honorably mentioning” him.
For any clear headed Russian patriot and an Orthodox believer (which Strelkov undoubtedly is), Lenin will always be remembered as a German implant and a Russophobe.
Commies were nothing but ruin for Russia.
Saker, so there remains a final question.
What means this press conference at all?
What was Strelkovs target, giving the World These informations?

As a Serb I am glad that Russia didn’t openly invade, because I view the possibility of having 40 million irrational Ukrainians that view Russia as their mortal enemy as neighbour far more dangerous than a “bleeding ulcer” in Novorossiya.
What can be learned from the events during the last century on the Balkans is, that it’s very easy to create hatred which leads into extreme violence (concentration camps of the Croats against Serbs, Serbs killing Bosnian Muslims like animals and so on), but extremely hard to normalize relationships once people started killing eachother in large scale.
Today we have 3 ethnicities on the balkans that all struggle to come up with fake history that shows they are completely different, even though their language, mentality and culture are almost identical.
The same is happening in the Ukraine right now with scholars educating Ukrainians in TV broadcasts that they are really ascendants of the Aryans and other crazy nonsense.
No matter how much the west is an enemy of Russia, Putin can still sit down with Obama and other western leaders and cooperate.
But once the Ukrainians turn into “Croats” (that hate their slavic-russian roots), Russia will find itself in a position, where they can’t cooperate on anything with the Ukraine anymore.
And then the Ukrainians will be far more dangerous, because they have nuclear power plants and they are capable of building weapons of mass destruction.
Who can tell, if there wont be a crazy Ukrainian government in the next 20 years, that is not only talking of throwing nuclear bombs on Russia, but also willing to act on it?
You might think this is impossible, but remember: 8 years before Nazi Germany attacked the Soviet Union they had a good relationship and Germany was so weak, that noone in the Soviet Union could imagine that Germany could ever threaten them.
Thank you, Saker, for your most incisive analysis. Some of it I’d already figured out but you’ve filled in an awful lot of blanks in ways that just simply make sense. I also now have even greater admiration for both Putin and Strelkov. But looking at things systemically, I’m really, really struck by how flexible the Russian system is; I hadn’t thought so, at all. Quite the opposite, in fact: due to the size and administrative complexity, I’d just assumed it was calcified, unwieldy, slow to respond. And yet watching what little I have since Crimea, Putin’s overall grasp of the issues both foreign and domestic, his genuine concern for the welfare of the people, and what I’ve just learned from you on this post, have given me a great amount of respect and confidence in his response to what is going on.
I do think this has been one of your best posts ever. So watch out for trolls! They’ll be on it like white on rice. ;~)

If I understand Putin, Strelkov, many of the Russian mafia and some oligarchs are basically nationalists, patriots – not necessarily in that order.
They want an independent Russia and the people are with them even though some financial shenanigans happen – in Brazil is the same, believe me.
As I said in another comment not believe Strelkov kill himself with poison or hanged, guys like him are killed with guns – regardless of religion he is military.
I am jaded with rumors and wish there were more rumors, as there are more rumors, more desperate the contrary are.
Putin invaded eastern Ukraine for three reasons:
1 the local population was not prepared.
2 if Russia invaded with everything working – industry, mining, services – the oligarchs would require huge amounts in compensation.
3 would not be compared to Russian and USA invading, invading and bombing.
Have an empirical observation that, every penalty imposed on Russia, the answer will come in three months.

Their plan was to put forward a rather uninspiring and dull bureaucrat into power and surround him…
…in August 1999. Russia was a shooting gallery of Talmudist elites.
Within weeks, as Prime Minister Putin began behaving like a friggin’ statesman, I guessed that The Family had chosen him as the least known and detested option. When the brilliant French Abbé Georges de Nantes enthused online that God had sent this saviour, I mused *that humans have delusions, *that when V-V found himself as virtual head of government, he must behave responsibly, and *that he had failed to grasp that he was meant to play the catamite. Or else he just gave The Family the rude sign.
When you’re not you’re not and the Gusinski/Beresovski phalanx of ratified Goy hating enemy aliens were not—in luck.
On the last day of 1999, to the gallery’s surprise, he got declared president. By what process I’ve no idea so I do not mind blabbing that it was because God wanted him there. Very early on, if I remember, The Moscow Times, domiciled in Holland a’ready, reported two assassination attempts. Anyhow the rest is history.
The Goy haters will get Putin if God wants them to, and not otherwise.
I wish he would get Ludmila back; it ain’t right.
Saker
I don’t for one second believe that Strelkov, a married father of three who is only about 44 is “retired” from the FSB, that he was not intentionally sent by superiors in the Russian State appartus to Crimea and Donbass to do exactly what he did, and that the continuing media circus about him is not entirely intentional on the part of those who control the Russian media for purpose of both internal (Russian) and external (Ukrainian, Western) consumption.
That is all as unlikely as his taking lengthy leaves of absence without pay to fight in Transnistria or Bosnia in the 1990’s.
There’s no doubt that Russia is on a war footing. But the US and the EU countries are not. The people in the western countries aren’t even buying the ISIS scam. There’s no energy for war in the west. It’s strictly a top-down fakeout. But the Russian people have it together. It’s a joy to see the Russian people entering a new phase of existence and drawing on all the best aspects of character, history, nobility and humanity. I have no doubt that Russia will not only win, but liberate Europe and maybe even America by the end.

Thank you Saker for all this information. I am Australian born and bred but for some reason have an interest on the goings on in Novarussia.i don’t fully understand the behind the scenes politics but hope and pray for success for the Novorussian people.i also hope this cease fire is not a ploy to crush the Novorussian Milita. Please keep up the fight for free press as we only get the lies fed to us by our corrupt system on information. All stay safe and best regards.

The old maxim: keeps your friends close and your enemies closer
Dalpe,
Russians aren’t merely “a bit” too subtle for westerners — they’re totally beyond our ken. We deal in cartoon characters and generally don’t know what we’re talking about. Nor have we much desire to learn.
Anonymous 00:58,
(1) Take a good look at a good source comparing the two economies; it’s not Russia who is weak.
(2) A quick response would have engaged NATO; Putin forestalled this.
(3) Putin helped create resistance to the Eurobureaucrats by farmers and businessmen, not often allied. to the extent that EU membership for Ukraine is far enough down the road to be almost irrelevant: a lot can happen between then and now.
(4) You have a lot of unfounded assumptions here with no data to support them. Because there is none.
(5) I feel badly your heart is so heavy and your concern so deep. Perhaps neither need be.
(6) Huh?
Thank you for your concern though. ;~)
Wow, is that ever educational!
And more than well worth waiting for. (I felt I had been waiting 3 days :)
Read through once carefully, but surely will take more than that to adsorb it.
Thank you, Saker. Even though you are a professional, and have experience writing along these lines, it can’t have been easy or simple to produce.
Thank you.
Wow.
So, Saker, Strelkov is to become Putin’s ally in rooting out the 5th column, eh? That’s fine and good, except that Strelkov doesn’t seem to give a hoot about the intricacies of the Putin-Oligarch balance in Russia.
So lemme give you one possible scenario how this might actually play out, just for fun’s sake. Say Strelkov starts naming names like, say, Yakunin. Yakunin’s a big shot, all right, and he’s been rumored to be a bad boy, not at all pro-Russia (there’s actually been a rather intense smear campaign against Yakunin in Russian blogosphere just prior to the whole Donetsk situation). So – Putin, for Russia’s sake, remove Yakunin! Right now!
Well, Yakunin is in charge of a large portion of Russian railroads. Putin cannot just remove him on Strelkov’s whim, now, can he, what with the balance of Power being what it is in Russia. But Strelkov and his followers keep insisting! Remove Yakunin! Now! Why aren’t you removing him, Vladimir Vladimirovich? Are the oligarchs holding you by the balls that tightly? Well… Okay, then… Remove Nabiullina! What, you can’t just remove her, either? Well, how about …. ? Or …. ? You can’t? Well, then, we’ll just have to help you, then! Patriots of Russia, gather on Bolotnaya square, and let us show support to Putin by voicing our demands to remove the traitors from the Kremlin! Or we’ll remove them ourselves…
Sounds too simplistic? But Strelkov, as you’ve mentioned, is a private person. How else would he “support” Putin, except speak? Oh, of course, we’ve got El Murid and Cassad, who will write about “bad seeds”, and how Strelkov is fighting them heroically. Strelkov may not even have to speak directly. But it still comes down to “Strelkov said” in the end, no matter what.
So it’s funny how you can see Putin walking a tightrope here, but fail to see that the best way to push him over is for someone like Strelkov to just blunder in and start “fighting the 5th column” by naming names of those he – or El Murid, there beside him, or anyone else who has Strelkov’s ear – doesn’t “like”. Especially now, when the pressure on the Russian elite has been ratcheted up, and doubters among it will need gentle but firm touch to keep them in line – not the repeat of 1937, which will cause a mini civil war within the “establishment”.
And so sorry, unless Putin is planning to run a great purge, Strelkov’s no ally of his and could, in fact, be a wild card that can be played to great disruptive effect by those who so wish.
Time will tell.
BOPOH
Most important post you’ve made here, Saker, well done. Thanks. ~ Christopher

A comment about one (of the many) things that I believe the Saker is totally wrong. The Saker says:
“Their main political goal is to fully integrate Russia into the AngloZionist international system on a financial, political, economic and cultural levels.”
That is not their goal (of the 5th column) because already is a reality of Russia with Putin in charge.
Russia already is integrated in the AngloZionist international system (liked or not) on a financial, political, economic and cultural levels.
Russia already belongs to the IMF, World Bank, Bank of International Settlements, SWIFT, Russian oil is for sale in the London and New York market’s and so on ……….
Why do you believe that the sanctions hurt Russia economy so much and Putin try to avoid them?
This vision that the Saker has of actual Russia as a country totally independent, wealthy and self sufficient is only a fantasy.
In addition to current developments in E Ukraine, it is important to recognise the escalation of economic warfare operations.
“what David Petraeus has done for counter-insurgency warfare, Stuart Levey [later David Cohen] has done for economic warfare” [Sen. Joe Lieberman]
Russia understands that sanctions are indeed economic warfare operations. It also understands the Israeli connection and NATO/allied involvement in these operations. Indeed, operations of the U.S./NATO/Israel bloc are active against Russia (economic warfare, destabilisation, partition, regime change operations within Russia, information warfare, proxy war operations in Ukraine, military support of Georgia [1][2], etc.). But they have miscalculated in believing that Russia is limited in its ability to respond.
Unfortunately, regardless of Russia’s position on events in E Ukraine, there are unlikely to be significant concessions by the U.S./NATO bloc. Economic warfare operations are active and are intended to remain so. The intention is to gradually weaken Russia economically and isolate it politically. These are transparently hostile actions.
It is important to recognise that operations are active, albeit in preliminary stages. These operations are occurring in conjunction with the mobilisation of military forces, the expansion of missile architecture and military exercises that clearly indicate the target nation. What is occurring is more than a cold war but not yet a direct hot war.

1. Russia says it will take ‘concrete steps’ over any US attempt to rearm Georgia, Guardian, 23/07/2009.
2. “Israeli companies have been helping [the] Georgian army to prepare for war against Russia through arms deals, training of infantry units and security advice.” (War in Georgia: The Israeli connection, Ynetnews, 10/08/2008)
I take it back: BHL most assuredly did *not* provide us with the quote of the day. Herewith is Sergei Taruta, the Junta’s governor for the Donetsk oblast:
“”Recall all conflicts that occurred, all of them happened only during warm times. And then leaves will fall and everyone will immediately see who is who, – announced Taruta in the lobby during the opening of YES-2014. Later there will be snow and we’ll see where the traces run. And then nobody will be able to deny that all of this is from Russia. Russians don’t fight in Winter.”
http://cassad-eng.livejournal.com/92892.html#cutid1
That there is hard to beat.
p2. ‘Australian participation in economic warfare operations’
“I want to say very clearly that we are working towards stronger sanctions [against Russia]”… “everything is on the table” [Australian PM Tony Abbott]
Australia is an extension (partner) of the U.S./NATO bloc and is openly supportive (politically and operationally) in the successive offensive military operations of this military bloc. Australian ‘defence’ policy (and interoperable military capabilities) is also integrated with the U.S./NATO/Israel bloc (U.S., NATO and Israeli advisors work with the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, the Lowy Institute, etc. in the development of strategic policy. The Lowy Institute was established by Frank Lowy and Martin Indyk, both of whom also established the Israeli Institute for National Strategy and Policy).
Australia is also increasing its operations against Russia. In addition to its participation in allied sanctions/economic warfare operations, Australia’s Chief of Defence, Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin announced that Australia will be enhancing its military cooperation with Ukraine.
“Australia is in the process of receiving an upgrade to enhanced Partnership status, giving greater diplomatic and military access to NATO operations. Australia is represented by Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and Defence Minister David Johnston, who have Russian president Vladimir Putin firmly in their sights.” (ABC News)
p3. ‘The impliactions of the U.S.-Australian military build-up’
“defense analysts from both countries expect an increased presence in Australia for the U.S. Air Force, Navy and Marines in the form of bombers, nuclear submarines, missiles and troops…. it’s likely the Air Force will begin using runways in the northern part of the country, possibly for the B-52 strategic bomber and B-2 stealth bomber… [missile architecture] cooperation is more likely to speed up….” (Deal likely to bring more US military assets to Australia’, Stripes, June 20, 2014)
“the Australian military is being integrated into the US military’s AirSea Battle doctrine. Under this plan, US forces will launch attacks on the Chinese mainland, while Australian forces will cut off China’s maritime trade links with the Middle East and Africa, starving its economy of oil, gas and other essential resources.” (Sydney’s week-long military extravaganza foreshadows new wars, 11 October 2013)
The implications of the U.S.-Australian military build-up, enhanced interoperability/integration into NATO military infrastructure and increasing Australian involvement in foreign military operations are self evident. In the event of direct military conflict between military blocs, Australian military operations will be integrated with the military operations of the U.S./NATO/Israel bloc. It is respectfully advisable for Russian strategic planning to quietly respond.
Did Strelkov have “greatness” thrust upon him and he rose to the occasion,or was he already a rising figure within the Ukrainian theater?
Whatever the case he seems an odd mixture as described here to seek command of new areas within the larger Russian political world. Perhaps Strelkov already has inside information that leads him to make this move and also has some form of protection being issued from his new found friends?

“I might be uncharacteristically optimistic”
Haha Saker, you are always optimistic.
I find your analysis to contain much food for thought, more of a meal than the snacks available in any of the western press.
Consider that there is a way for both Putin and Strelkov to both get what they want in the Ukraine. An independent country for Strelkov and a Ukraine which does not lose any of its territory for Putin.
Ukraine is going to suck as much money out of the west as they are able while they can. They have no means of paying any of this back. Ukraine will disappear and a new country will take its place, Novorossiya, in spirit if not in name.
Speculation on my part, but highly probable as it is common knowledge that of the 3.2 billion given to Ukraine already, 3.1 billion has found its way to offshore bank accounts.
Just as there is political in-fighting in Russia, there is a growing chance of regime change in Kiev. I believe this has been one of Putins’ aims all along, to have Poroshenko overthrown by the right sector Nazis as no one would object to them being totally destroyed when they take power. They would rapidly do things that would make themselves pariahs. Hence the cease-fire and his insistence that Poroshenko deal with the NAF directly. No doubt this has been a cause for great alarm to those who wish the complete de-Russification of what is now known as the Ukraine.
This is but a small part of the larger picture however. Sept 15-26, there are NATO exercises in Ukraine, I forget the name of the city, (Yanovo?) which although being approximately 700 miles from Donetsk, (the best approximation of distance I was able to locate) I have not the knowledge to know how the west will attempt a false flag against NATO troops, but I do not think they will squander the opportunity.
On an even larger scale, the efforts to create a division between Russia and Europe by America cannot be accomplished as long as Russia remains sovereign and is a major supplier of gas to the EU. It should be noted that the west is attacking on at least two fronts to accomplish this goal. One of these you cover and provide the best source for insight into, and that is the events in Ukraine.
The other, and (I understand your focus on Ukraine) is that they are also determined to get that Qatari gas to the EU through Syria. Having failed last year to get an ok for bombing Syria, as you must know, Obama and crew have created a new justification for bombing Syria. They are relentless and insane.
(continued)
(continued)
At the same time, they are getting ready to allow Japan to have nukes to counter China’s rise and are allowing mass immigration into the U.S. via Mexico when we can least afford it, to keep the sheep of America divided and distracted.
As I said they are truly insane.
They will fail, however. It is a paradox they do not recognize. In their quest to own everything and to be everything, it is necessary to understand that to be everything is to be nothing. To own everything is to own nothing. It is why throughout history every empire has fallen. Only God himself is capable of such a feat.
It is true that many will and have died as these megalomaniacs pursue this unattainable goal. All true believers understand that this life is but the diving board. That last final leap is into the wide ocean of our full potential. A world free of the vices which have plagued man throughout history. It is not our time that we are spending here, it is HIS time which he has given to us to make a Heaven on earth. Some choose to use this time to acquire earthly goods and others strive to make life better for all following the instructions inscribed in all of our hearts at birth.
Do not ever despair, for when things seem darkest is when men such as Strelkov and Putin step forward and against all odds are able to restore our faith in what we know to be good and true in the world. Men who cannot be bought and make great sacrifice for what they (and we) know to be right.
They are not the first men of their kind, nor will they be the last. The founding fathers of America were men such as these. America would be the greatest country in the world if we followed our own laws. It was miraculous what they accomplished in their time. I consider myself blessed to be living at this time to watch as once again, a great wrong will be righted.
It is with great anticipation I await Russia’s response to the latest EU sanctions. :)

Igor has more lives than good dozen of cats.
Why Russia didn’t go in?
It’s because of S-word. No, as it hits both ways.
Scared of Terrible Alliance? No, because it exists primarily to control its own members.
Most probably because of huge losses first of all for the people of Ukraine as a result of unpredictable and by orders more terrible civil war.
Now about cease fire. Who benefits? Russia – Novorossia.
Why? Current Ukie regime got itself into terrible mess. Still blames someone else but it won’t work well anymore. And by the way if Novorossia will by some miracle stay in Ukraine the latter will be very different country.
Frau Shmerkel. Cui bono, bona fide. May be first fiddle?
There are some hints in this direction.
For example:
1. Moves on with S-word. (Mostly banking sector – to weaken $?)
2. Less vulnerable – North Stream.
3. Yugoslavia anyone?
4. It would be interesting to see some other points.
Being Russian. It can be stated that Nora is for instance more Russian than many who think they are. It’s just the way she sees stuff. No one knows if she speaks Russian or of Russian Orthodox Church, unless she states she does not.

PCR knows little about the internal politics of Russia, however he understands Washington VERY well. PCR’s main message is that America (the land and the people) is under an occupation government of enemy aliens who are guilty of the 9/11 attacks and much more. PCR’s point is that “the crazies” in Washington are desperate. They can not be appeased. Their choices are war or the death of the dollar. They have chosen war. They will keep attacking Russia with every means at their disposal until at least one of them is destroyed. And yes, they would rather burn the world than lose power,

They want to dismember Russia
This will be a long war on Russia
We are dealing with another 1905 and 1917 like situation
The roots of the 5th column which want to dismember the Orthodox Russia go back, AT LEAST to the zhidovstvuyuschie of the late 15th Century, early 16th, metastasized into the Subbotniki sects and the Westernizing intelligentsia.
The dismemberment of Russia and the creation of a Jewish state in the Ukraine is a desideratum of Zionism AT LEAST since early 20th (1902 when the prominent Zionist Max Bodenheimer proposed the creation of a League of East European States or East European Federation in the territories annexed by Russia from Poland (which obviously were to be “liberated” by the Germans)with the Jews the politically dominant population. This was one of the hidden causes of WWI. The failure of the project did not deter from trying to revive it. That’s why “This will be a long war on Russia”. The more that the only real dam against the “Sabatarianization”, the Orthodox Church raised like the Phoenix from the ashes.

The Lord Jesus Christ said before his people tried to stone Him, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” He did not say before Abraham was I was or I wasn’t.
@Dei iudicium
Does it mean anything that Anthony John “Tony” Abbot, Malcolm Bleigh Turnbull, Robert James Lee “Bob” Hawke, Kim Christian Beazley, are all “Rhodes scholars”? Are they also Knights of the Round Table?
Thank you for your explanation of the language used by Mr Strelkov. In his speech, (if it was written by him), Mr Strelkov showed that he sees the world from a high perch and is willing to enlist his services in whatever place he is needed. I wish the Russian nation and its people the freedom they deserve after having suffered under the yoke of communism for so many years.
The 5th Column is becoming the next rallying cry of the deadly – and formerly covert – war being fought between the US and Russia.
I always pay attention to new videos posted by New Insight – and my deepest thanks for this latest interview with Evgeny Fedorov that you posted at 13 September, 2014 00:27
I very earnestly recommend this interview. It’s 45 minutes, and I watched spellbound, amazed at every word. Thank you New Insight for your synopsis and highlights – it’s so powerful and filled with perspective on the deep Russian struggle that I hardly knew where to take notes to share here.
Around 28:00 Fedorov explains that a new system of resistance to the foreign invasion of Russia is forming, started by Putin but now with a dynamic of its own, carrying Putin forward – having said “A” he must now say “B”, “C”, “D” and so on.
Ultimately the 5th column will be purged, and the power is beginning to cohere to enable this – it’s against the Russian constitution so it must take an extraordinary impulse to enable it.
The interview is here: The Purge is coming. Evgeny Fedorov
Funny how I was watching soldiers at war upon the field of Ukraine and suddenly its most famous soldier Strelkov thrusts us deep into the heart of the Russian state, and alludes to a life and death struggle with an enemy that has penetrated deep into the system, and which revealed itself clearly in the Ukraine struggle, because Ukraine and Russia are the same.
Completely in harmony with this, Fedorov in his interview (recorded on Sept 3) shows us how the 5th columnists are the soldiers of the US, which is in a death-lock with Russia and actively moving to destroy her.
So this war is suddenly very primal, a moment in history as grave as any of the great wars of Russia.
Again, I recommend the interview. Every one of the 45 minute is dense with a new understanding of Russia’s perilous – and I hope glorious – destiny.
Baboo here. IMHO
Whoever said “Russia is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.” never met the Saker! One of your most lucid and penetrative posts.
Thanks for the transcript and analysis Saker. Y’all provide an invaluable insight for non-Russians like me.
@nazcalito
As a long-time reader of Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, I can assure you that his intentions are genuine and he is not wishing for the fulfillment of the Anglo-Zionist dream – quite the opposite. He has written that while he did wish Russia to invade, he also hopes that he is wrong about that. He acknowledges that Putin’s strategy may well be the better course of action.
I must admit that my first reaction was to wish that Russia would invade and wipe the Nazi bastards out. However, upon further reflection and reading more informed sources like this site, I have come to agree with the Saker. This does not mean that I had any ill-intent toward NovoRossiya or Russian Federation.
Like most here, I wish for the defeat of the Anglo-Zionist project.
While the current situation is extremely dangerous, time is on our side: the junta regime is unsustainable and the Empire is unsustainable.
Anonymous 02:28,
Omigosh! Thank you so very, very much. I am incredibly deeply honored by your very kind words. Wow. Maybe it’s the Injun in me? I know my father gave me a very different set of values than just about anyone I know, and I carry them deeply.
I’m still struggling with Cyrillic though — I can almost sound things out but can’t pronounce Dniepropetrovsk on the first try for the life of me! ;~) And I am very deeply interested in the Russian Orthodox Church bc from what little I’ve learned so far I am convinced it is in fact the One True Faith. But I’ve got a loooong way to go to even begin to grasp the intricacies: it’s so different from the Christianity I’ve known that I feel like I’m starting from scratch.
Again though, just, my gosh, I can’t tell you what high praise this is! Your country, your culture, your faith, are just so much deeper, richer, more full of thought, more fully human, than what we’ve got here. For all the rough times you’ve had/that we’ve given you, I still envy you very deeply for what we in the West never did have and never could take from you despite our very best efforts.
Thank you, indeed.
AK,
Someone posted that video yesterday and we just howled! I actually went around a bit in the afternoon aping his accent and making the music and I still can’t stop laughing whenever I think of it, tie-dyed shorts and all! ;~)
What a perfect way to take some of the hot air out of those (very frightened) stuffed shirts! Oh, and RIA-Novosti reported that 17 billion pounds so far have, erm, exited the UK in advance of this vote… ;~)
The Ukraine may be won in Caledonia.
I admire Strelkov. For most people who come into power it is very hard to get them off the trip. He really thinks about the welfare of those he is trying to protect. Otherwise he would not quit just by threats of not getting any aid.
May God keep him safe from the evils of this world.

Can’t you use your own brain ? Take a wild guess which one he means and let us know which you think it is…
WizOz, the ‘Treasured Nation’ prefers its victims small and powerless and dominated by tiny, easily manipulable, elites. It is the psychology behind Ode Yinon’s ‘Zionist Plan for the Middle East’, to break up Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia etc, into fragments. It was US policy in Yugoslavia, but already by then the USA was essentially fully controlled by its ‘Israel Lobby’. The Jewish control of the USA, in politics, business, particularly finance, MSM and ‘entertainment’ is a stupendous achievement in world history. Similar control, always denied despite its ever greater blatancy, pertains throughout the West, certainly in Australia. But Russia remains unsubdued, and while India has been compromised greatly, it is China that the Judaic supremacists really fear. There never will be a ‘Sinozionist’ movement like ‘Christian Zionism’ or ‘neo-conservatism’, and at least on one level, Israelis will never be able to pass themselves off as members of the host society there, if only for reasons of physiognomy. Israel and world Jewry need a solid lesson in humility and Imperial Overreach before their mad supremacism and drive to dominate the Gentiles produces, as it has so often in history, a nasty reaction. Unfortunately people like Netanyahu an Bennett dominate Israel at present, not the likes of their finer brethren such as Chomsky, Arendt or Einstein.
dei iudicium, Australia is a ‘failure’ as a state and society, on every level. Our political and business elites are dullards, slavishly loyal to the USA and Israel, ever ready to follow the Real Evil Empire into any aggression. The MSM is dominated by the Murdoch cancer, currently in a period of heightened Islamophobic hatred, fresh on the heels of its total support for Israel’s ritual bloodbath in Gaza. The society is, after thirty years of Market Absolutist imbecility, ever more unequal, brainlessly materialistic and utterly uncultured (I find it a very rare day when I meet anyone who has even heard of Schubert, for example, let alone one with some knowledge of his genius). The indigenous are imprisoned at world’s highest rates, their children being removed from their families again, their tenuous ‘land rights’ are under continuing attack and they bore the brunt of some of the deepest cuts in the recent austerity (for the poor only) Budget. Our home-grown culture, once quite interesting in its particulars of rough egalitarianism, absence of groveling deference, laconic and sardonic sense of humour etc, now apes every vulgar fad and phoney ‘trend’ emanating from the Real Evil Empire. The ‘Lucky Country’ has become the ‘Lackey Country’.
dei iudicium, one Jew (Lieberman) congratulating two others (Cohen and Levy) on using the US Treasury to attack target states financially. These vicious tactics cause real human suffering, but amongst goyim, so that’s OK, according to the Rabbis (and Maimonides). Jews pretty much control finance, the Federal Reserve and the US Treasury, and they are not of the Chomsky or Einstein type. When I write this stuff I feel quite peculiar, the years of brainwashing into the ‘antisemitism’ cult still afflicting me, but these are simple facts, and they really indicate pretty simple realities. The depth of self-indoctrination required in the entire Western political elite to not just take note of their significance, but to utterly deny their existence (like denying the reality of the Moon), is a real marvel.
this ES/AI split explains why Russia, under Medvedev, allowed the UNSC vote that greenlighted NATO’s attack on Libya in 2011.
IMHO that act was disastrous for both Africa and Africa’s relations with Russia. It was a terrible missed opportunity for Russia. Africa at that moment was prepared to stand up to NATO but it did not find a single ally anywhere. I belive that had Russia vetoed the resolution, it may well have started a full scale political revolt against Africom/NATO in Africa.
This would have immensely strengthened Russia’s international position today.
@Crossvader @Saker I too thought that Strelkov et al were removed because Putin wanted to go over to negotiations and a political settlement. This would only be possible with locals in charge.
I don’t see Strelkov as ‘the’ great Novorussian leader (but I will defer to Saker on this) What I find more interesting and likely is if he becomes the great *Novorussian Concept* leader. i.e the chief exponent of a new conception of Russia that extends over Russia, Ukraine,Belarus, Transnistria,Abkhazia,South Ossetia etc.
Which is to say the West’s worst nightmare in a novel form. The rebirth of the old soviet union as a concept capable of rallying Russians everywhere and this time married to deep history, culture and religion.
Igor Girkin fits the part. It seems that in the last hundred years those leaders who have transformed Russia come with two syllable names ending with “in”.
I didn’t want to start a tangent about PCR — however, given his background as a high policy making official of the US government, I’ve found his alleged turn-around just a bit suspicious. And that’s all I’ll say.
@Whoever said “Russia is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.” never met the Saker! One of your most lucid and penetrative posts.
Those who say that are uninformed people. They mutilate a sentence of Churchill that made a lot of sense. Churchill might have been a swindler, a war criminal, but he certainly was not a moron.
He said that phrase in a radio broadcast in October 1939:
“I cannot forecast to you the action of Russia. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key. That key is Russian national interest.”
It said that in the context of the occupation of Eastern Poland by the Soviets following the surprise conclusion of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact and the likelihood that the USSR would continue to reclaim other former territories lost after the Revolution.
“Are you referring to Paul Craig Roberts, among others? I’ve been suspicious of him ever since he started urging this kind of thing.”
I call him Paul Craig “Washington” Roberts. He was under Reagan when they killed tens of thousand of Guatemalan Mayans because they did not want to work at walmart. They did it by funneling money to Israeli general Rios Monte who had taken over.
Roberts likes to act like it is Washington taking over the world when they are acting on the behalf of London bankers. Roberts wasn’t sure who was training American police in the art of brutality. I can help him, it is the Israelis.
You see you must have someone out front if you are the Republican party who throws in bits and pieces of truth. They can’t all appear nuts. So walla you have Roberts but he is a limited hang out. He doesn’t seem to understand about the federal reserve and other matters.

From what you posted by the Taruta war criminal:
“Russians don’t fight in Winter.”
He should tell that to offspring of his German nazi heroes whose forebears saw their dreams of lebensraum in the east suffer it’s first major setback in the winter of 1942 because the “Russians don’t fight in Winter”.
:D
Hard to believe that sod actually grew up and lived in the Ukraine.
