Just a simple wing tap and paint scraping maneuver. Nothing special. Except the roll to port to display the missiles the Russians were carrying. That’s always a “butt pucker” move for the American pilots to see.

The fact of the matter is the bomber would never see the fighters sent to take it down. The missiles would come from scores of miles away. This is just friendly professional stuff.

Much scarier if Chinese pilots were pulling such tight maneuvers.

Or, just a (successful) bit of posturing.

    RT covered this:

WATCH Russian jets chase US nuclear-capable bombers away from country’s borders

When military aircraft of hostile nations approach one’s borders, sending a friendly escort is common practice. Especially if those hostile aircraft are nuclear weapon capable. The pindo military whines about being escorted, but everybody knows they are drama queens. Litterally. Have been since israel’s neocon reagan quisling colonial regime.

These events happen all the time, but I don’t think I’ve heard of a B-1 nosing around our AO. We’re close enough to Belbek that we can here them when they take off, and we instantly know if it’s routine patrol or training or if it’s something serious. There are noise restrictions depending on time of day or night, but when we hear two or three aircraft coming off the runway and barreling out to sea at full throttle we know someone is out there fooling around. No big deal, whoever and whatever it is, it’s been tracked long before it got near the Black Sea.
