Seems to be going largely the way US planners have wanted. There have been no surprises by either side thus far. There is nothing the Russians have done or achieved that was unpredictable. All Russian actions would have been anticipated by US planners except perhaps the initial delicacy of the invasion. “Continental warfare” is rather easy to understand. The babblers quoted and ridiculed by Saker’s resident military genius are not the people who understand the US strategy or the planners who mapped this out. Statements released by the Pentagon and Administration officials—laugh if you will–are not meant to be accurate, they are meant to propagate a narrative. All Russian movements are clear to the satellites above and all Russian electronic communication is monitored. US planners knows precisely what is going on in real time. The tried, true and predictable methodology of hybrid war is being executed. Propaganda, lies, censorship, demonization of the enemy, info warfare, use of proxy forces, murderers and death squads, chaos, subversion, destabilization, economic warfare and sanctions—all standard operating procedure, honed for decades. At this point nothing particularly stupid or surprising from either side. The key to which side “wins” will be the reaction of the populations of the US, Europe, Ukraine and Russia as the war goes on and the impact of sanctions is felt.
The American planners are very mediocre, do not forget that the USA is economically and militarily finished. Do not drown in a glass of water.
Don’t try to hide the American stupidity and shortsightedness in planning.
It’s true that the US has been monitoring the Russian troop movements, but as American commentators such as Scott Ritter say, this op has been surprising in the amount it has achieved with a low number of troops. The Russians haven’t even committed their reserves.
The US had wanted economic war against Russia for a long time. Now they have it. But what those ‘planners’ and their brainwashed followers like you don’t understand is that the combined West has allowed Russia to decouple from the West and go oj her own path. No more appeasement. In this sense, the US has utterly failed in their policy to bring down Russia. Now, pro-western elements inside Russia will be weaker than ever.
You forget another fundamental. It’s not the onlookers (people on social media, news consumers) that decide the outcome of a war. It’s the people who fight the war on the ground that decide who’d win or lose. People like you’re used to US-style war (propaganda narratives) but you’ll face a difficult reckoning when your propaganda bubbles start bursting one by one
The US has succeeded in taking the handcuffs off of Russia’s hands. Now that the US and EU have burned all the bridges between themselves and Russia, Russia is free to pursue its core interests.

As I said before: a Russian or Chinese economist would go further and would predict that the western way is finished. After this crisis, a New World – the multipolar world – will have been born.
US military planners? The same ones who could not defeat the Taliban for 20 years? What do they know? Satellites only tell a part of the story. And thus far, it seems that any secret NATO help ukraine is getting isn’t worth much.
One thing I have to mention is how courteous the presenter was. She asked a question and let him spend 20 minutes answering without interruption. Exactly how I saw and rationalized Russia’s leadership’s strategy going forward from February 2014. Going in hard during the heat of the moment likely would have spelled immediate disaster along with long term negative consequences. Crimea was a must-do, a matter of strategic compulsion. Mr Putin and team read the tea leaves well.
Now in the ensuing years, time has been bought to approach this crisis to not only match, but to have patiently exceeded the West’s capabilities. It was a sublime strategy, likely the only one if not wanting to waste lives unnecessarily and demoralize the population with a long, drawn-out, casualty-laden struggle. And this while coping with still recovering from the Western-inflicted obscenities of the 1990s. Every civilian life lost in the Donbas in this eight year interlude has weighed heavily on Russia’s leadership. And those poor innocents will not, and are not being forgotten by these greatest leaders of our time.
Meanwhile, the West in its conceit and hubris, thought it could and would always hold its position of supremacy, its sick amorality notwithstanding. Drunk on its perceived power, and judging by the bizarre yelps from certain U.S. Senators even today, drunker yet today. They cannot read either the tea leaves or the military specs of Russia’s newest weapons, apparently. Which goes to show how deranged by “Exceptionalism” they truly are.
The pain of wise leadership has never been felt so much by one man in modern times, in my opinion. Faced with the decades-long Western worldwide demonisation Mr Putin has—for his honorable actions—not only shows his strength of faith and quiet determination, but also exposes how depraved and evil is the West in trying to destroy a great leader and his great nation. But – A prominent talking head in USA, professor of history at Yale, Timothy Snyder, writes in his book “The Road to Unfreedom” (p.213 paperback edition) that “the event in Odessa in May 2, 2014, “never took place”. I could not believe that a professor would write this.

The Anglo-Saxons are adept at getting Poles to commit suicide! And what enticements are being offered, in addition to Galicia? What territories elsewhere? But Poles are currently disheartened by the efficiency of the “combined arms police action,” using second-rate troops, which is rapidly returning Novorussiya within about a month.
So they need escorting to their suicide. Perhaps a (1) major change in narrative (a big FF, global/Papal condemnation), (2) Russian strikes on their turf to activate Article 5, and (3) some big boys to step up in front of them?

Excellent analyst, very cautious, maybe even a bit too much. Everything plausible to me, only his worries of Poland entering the fray seem overcautious. Poland is on the US leash, and US wants Russia discredited, ostracized and sanctioned, in order to lead her EU allies around like oxen. Until now they have been ordered about like fools, only. The US does not want a slightest chance of their own asses being burnt to ashes in any all-out with Russia. For that, they need to be more desperate then they are right now.
What does give Ishchenko an argument here is a possible Polish wish to take control of the western Ukraine.
