Awesome, Eugenia. You are excellent and this video is a treasure to see and hear and read the words of Putin as he fillets the stooge from Europe.
The world has an ECU of Putin in action.
For those who wonder how he is in private? This is it. Powerful, rational, detailed, righteous.
Thank you for the translation.
Yes, thanks for this, it is beautiful.
Another great video – of Maria Zakharova giving details of private ‘diplomatic’ conversations between the Obama regime and the Russians towards the end of his reign.

Here’s somebody really being filleted:
“It seems that the war is mutually beneficial to both sides,” Arkady says.
“Otherwise, it would not have dragged on for so long.”
http://www.businessinsider.com/how-residents-of-donetsk-are-dealing-with-the-ongoing-war-in-ukraine-2017-4
Well, well, what Putin saids at the end is something I have never heard expressed like this before, he is correct that it will anger the nationalists !
– Ukraine are brothers to Russia
– that Ukraine and Russia should be united and they will work towards this !
PS. Does anyone know who the European guy on the panel was?
I know Hamid Karzai and Jack Ma participated
This exchange is from the Valdai Club Conference and can be read on transcript here, http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/55882
The questioner is Asle Toje, and the exchange is about 5/6s of the way to the transcript’s bottom. Konstantin Zatulin’s question further down page also touches on Ukraine. The answer to Sabine Fischer”s question is the real bombshell! The answers given about Trump from all the panelists are quite interesting. Toby Gati is the only representative from the Outlaw US Empire to pose a question is last but the content of Putin’s answer frames the current impasse very well.
Thanks so much for the link! For the first time in a long time I am happy my first vote as a US citizen was in support of Bill Clinton’s second term. President Putin’s comment about the importance of his support and their meeting in New Zealand, my native land, was news to me.
The most moving statement for me was when in answer to a question President Putin answered that Russia’s most serious mistake was that it trusted the US too much, and for the U.S. that it took that trust as a weakness and abused it.
President Putin was trying to be balanced and diplomatic. However, I’m sure he knew that Clinton was no friend of Russia. See, e.g.: https://www.globalresearch.ca/the-really-bad-dogs-of-war/7052?print=1 .
I believe he is the Norwegian Asle Toje. He is the Research Director at the Norwegian Nobel Institute.
I saw some of this live and can only apologise…
This idea of unity is so awesome coming from a world leader of Putin’s caliber. I am so tired of the divide and conquer nonsense. Like Soros is pushing everywhere, black lives matters etc…
It has to come from Putin though, because if anyone else would say that all Ukrainians are brothers of Russia, they would get a lot of hate. Coming from the president though, it forces rabid pro russian nationalists to pay attention.
I have had this sort of ideas and voiced them on this site but people often get offended. I mean no offence but I am waiting to see political leaders that come to their senses and explains thing in rational terms to the world.
It loads fine on Firefox and on iPad.
It took a couple of tries, including refreshing the page but I finally got it to play. Well worth the effort.
I watched this live and its good to watch it again- VVP didnt hold back on the subject of Ukraine. You see a lot more emotion from him than usual.
If only the MSM would show this in its entirety (I know, I know) – people may then understand how the Russians feel and what really happened…..
Oh, I think he did hold back… He certainly tried to remain polite, in spite of having to restate something that should be obvious to all. I think if he were not a super rational person, he’d probably be “spitting nail,” as they say in the ol’country (i.e., Texas).
This dolt gets an answer he will never forget. I wonder who he is?
We need a transcript…video is not loading at all for me (Firefox 56.0.1 64-bit on Linux.)
Hi, you can read a transcript here:
http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/55882
The video clip is Putin’s response to Asle Toje, which begins like this:
What a giant on the world stage VVP is. And yes, the journalist looks somewhat shellshocked. Western leaders rarely reply in such detail. But most journalists now don’t bother researching topics at all. If something doesn’t fit in a tweet they don’t want to know. I love that Vlad is prepared to explain things. And be polite about it. Long may he prosper.
The problem is, that Putin tries to talk normally to immoral idiots. They very well know what is going on there… However, I also think that this is just bla-bla from Putin… He does something else behind the scenes… He very well knows who he has to deal with. In Europe, in the Yankestan and in Ukraine too… Sometimes Pjakin, who is a professional in analysing politics gives a bit more inside to his thikning. Putin is a real Statesman. With capital “S”. Russia is really lucky to have him healthy there for another few years…
Putin again speaks to the point and with truth.
The Europeans are cutting their own throats by not working with Russia.
The US is a lost cause almost totally captured by the neocons and neolibs.
I wonder who was the supremely important person sitting next to Mr Putin? I could tell he was very important because he had not bothered to shave, and because while Mr Putin was speaking he stared straight ahead, completely ignoring him as if he were a bird singing or running water.
Khazai, ex Afghanistan President.
Watch it again and focus on Kharzi, you will seem him nod his head, if ever so slightly, in agreement.
Kharzi also puts his hands together in a prayer gesture in response to something Putin said
yeah, its an awesome crowd up there –
The last 30-20 seconds is important, for it explains why Putin did not invade Ukraine and remove those murderous nazi scum and the traitors serving the USG, because he knows it would have detrimentally affected millions of Ukrainians who he wants back in the Slav camp, so to speak. He recognises that the Ukrainian Government has been hijacked by nuland’s coup.
Good also, that he states he will – and has – protected the Donbass people, not totally, obviously, but sufficiently for the Donbass republics to survive and slowly prosper despite the daily attacks.
I have listen to the many speeches and answers that VVP has given. He is a real statesman and always ready to answer the many questions thrown at him. His response is always professional and unrehearsed. Pity that there aren’t more politician like him that could bring real positive change to the many problems that the USA and Europe inflict on the global scene. Prior to VVP the Russian Federation was in a freewill position being raped and plundered. He has brought to light the meaning of life, which is propelled by thought. He has brought the Russian Federation from the brink of hell into a nation that has embraced itself, which has been missing for far too long. Compared to the USA and Europe there is no comparison whatsoever. Bravo VVP keep up the good work.
Putin, indeed, won’t allow the ***worst*** in Ukraine. But sadly he’ll allow anything short of that, as the poor innocent citizens of the East, who are blown to pieces daily by the NATO Nazi artillary, will tell you. And why didn’t Putin do the sensible thing, and invade- to end the violence and allow the peaceful partition of that synthetic ex-soviet nation. Cos a ton of Pied Pipers who pretend a care about Russia, but really are agents of the Deep State, worked hard to convince Putin that such a strong righteous move would be ‘bad’ for Russia.
Let me give you a prime example of a well known ‘Pied Piper’, in action…
A few years back, naive fools on our side would have been dribbling on about how british ‘journalist’ Robert Fisk was one of the few good ones- on ‘our’ side and against the zionists. Indeed, sadly, articles from this monster would have even been promoted on this blog.
Well today:
http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/putin-middle-east-syria-raqqa-isis-qatar-saudi-arabia-control-soviet-a8008461.html
Let me warn you- if you don’t have a strong stomach, do not click on this link. No! there are no images of horror- just Fisk’s latest words. He uses language to demonise Putin and the Russian people far more offensively than Hitler used in Mein Kampf to describe the ‘jews’. In Fisk’s words, Putin wanted to ‘sterilize’ outspoken muslims. Now I know you think I exaggerate or use hyperbole. No!- Fisk literally states that Putin wanted “Moscow’s Doctors” to “sterilize” (well he used the ‘code’ word “emasculate”) “muslims”.
Britain is master of this Pied Piper method. Pseudo ‘independent’ thinkers/leaders who are critical of the British State and “work” for “the people” instead. Then when the British State wants to do some particularly evil and nasty thing, these “politicians of the people” sadly announce that the British State is right. Tony Benn- a member of the Upper Aristocracy in Britain- put on a flat cap, effected a ‘lower-class’ accent- and Pied Pipered the British people to hell. A bit of a clue was when Tony Blair’s New Labour was expelling members left and right, but Benn was ***never*** in the crosshairs. BTW it was Tony Benn who provided the Israeli government with its first parcel of weapon’s grade Plutonium in the early 1960s when Benn was a senior minister in the labour government- don’t believe me- google it.
Now I have been sickened to the depths of my soul by the number of times people on our side have praised Robert Fisk. Fools (really really really serious fools) will try to excuse the demonising tone of this article cos it states Putin is the successful hardman in the Middle East. And that’s the “football hooligan” trick Fisk uses.
Well Hitler admitted the strength, power and success of the ‘jews’ in Mein Kampf- but that was no proof that Hitler intended anything good to happen to them- was it? No, Fisk demonises in that way you paint a target on the back of any major force you intend to destroy using all means possible- no matter how terrible.
Russia is going to lose the Football World Cup because Team Fisk will argue letting Putin have this propaganda coup is like letting Hitler have the olympics in Berlin pre-WW2. Sorry, Putin is fiddling while Rome burns. The next stage of the organised demonisation of Russia you will not believe- but Fisk presages things to come perfectly in his article today.
And it’s time our side recognised the Pied Pipers (most of whom are British agents- Americans are far too unsubtle for this work) and stopped listening to them. The ‘need’ for ordinary people to have well-placed ‘heroes’ they can look up to is fatal. Believe in the cause, ***not*** the cult of personality.
Our ‘movement’ is clean at the bottom but compromised to hell by the Pied Pipers at higher levels. Putin has the power and resources to make a real difference but still lacks the will – thinking he is operating in a world where rational thinking still rules. He has drawn lines in the sand for both Ukraine and Syria, but the wrong side of that line still meant death, destruction and Human misery on an unthinkable scale. Putin should be slaying the dragons, not trying to meet them half-way.
When Robert Fisk feels emboldened enough to describe Putin as ***worse*** than Hitler in the Independent, the final warning bells are ringing. Blair worked to ensure the ‘enlightened’ ‘moderate’ ‘left’ was placed under his total and absolute control so pro-war messages would appear to come from ‘anti-war’ thinkers- proving that such pro-war sentiment was an essential response to evils and not the bloodlust ravings of the usual warmongers.
Tony Blair sold the Kosovo war, not any American. Tony Blair sold the Iraq invasion, not any american. Tony Blair sold the Libya war, not any american. Tony Blair loyalists run every aspect of present day Britian. And Team Tony Blair is going to sell the coming Iran war, and then the World War that follows. And Tony Blair’s faux liberals, like Fisk, will be doing the heavy lifting in the run up.
You see no-one believes anything that comes out of the mouths of the warmongers that run the Republic and Democratic parties of the USA- but they still think Britain is civilised, logical, fair and reasonable. Funny thing is- Hitler in Mein Kampf constantly refers to the perfect evil brutal methods of the British Empire, and how much he wished Germany could emulate them. For he saw clearly that the ‘civilised’ veneer the British Empire hid behind was the perfect form of societal manipulation. Appear to your people to have ‘clean hands’ while in truth your hands could not be more bloody. Robert Fisk and others like him are the living ‘veneer’ at play in Britain- but also a ‘veneer’ that constantly talks about the present danger of Empire targets.
Trump will not declare war on Iran- Britain will, in alliance with the USA, France, Germany and a bunch of lesser powers. This is why Fisk’s article today declared Putin ‘king of the Middle East’.
Putin just isn’t as smart and quick to wage war as you, Twilight.
If only he had your insights and genius for strategy.
Thanks.
By the way, what country do you preside over?
And how are your people, its economy and military operations doing?
Just asking—
Twilight makes good points, and his critique of Putin’s soft-power approach has merit.
On the other hand, what does your non-rebuttal accomplish?
(Removed.Please don’t insult other posters.MOD)
“twilight” good thing that you unmask this s.c. “journalists” like Fisk. This comes however, hardly as surprise. People “talk” but their actions will show their true face. Therefore, th big dissapointment from many towards Trump for instance. We have different angles the see things, you stress lots about Britain (and assorted lackeys) over what they will do or not do. Do you realize that as we speak the centers of power are moving away from them eastwards? That means what Britain, US, etc do or not do in the near future will become more and more irrelevant. Will they start WWIII to try to reverse the process and in the process get destroyed? I really doubt it or a I hope not.
As always you conflate, Twilight.
Here is the nugget of Fisk’s article you wave at us.
“Undemocratic, brutally suppressing his own internal political opponents, hateful of all Muslim extremists – he suggested that Moscow doctors could emasculate them – careless of what others say of his air force’s bombing in Syria and we must not forget Ukraine and the Crimea and Western sanctions, in the Middle East he can wear the mantle of an international statesman. It might all come to grief for Putin. Failing to foresee the outcome of his actions was regarded as his greatest fault when he was a KGB officer in Dresden.”
Now what is so harsh? Standard Brit shit trying hard to smack Putin. Laughable.
Putin being demonized by a Brit, a Westerner, is not a shock, except to tender ears.
And I stand by my several recommendations and links to Fisk and his writings over the years. Not reading Fisk’s
I learned long ago that no source, none, are pure and line up 100% with my own position or “good” or “noble” positions.
That goes for every journalist, every historian, every reporter. So what?
When they get it right, it’s a good source. What is right?
Accurate. Is it a lie or the truth, or close enough to the truth if not first hand recorded live with witnesses. Film used to be this way and photos. But then along came Photoshop.
So we have to examine the whole of person’s work. Fisk has a long, deep and wide body of work.
Within his journalism and history writing are magnificent sources of truth.
If the guy doesn’t line up with all my viewpoints, he nonetheless is rich in truths and exposure of evils.
Might Putin have been a failure in Dresden?
I doubt the FSB would have made him Director when the KGB dissolved. Nor would the group in St. Pete have chosen such a “failure” as their Russia-savior and President. Nor join him to hold Russia together and rebuild it to what we see today.
Fisk went into Idlib and Hama with the Russian troops a few weeks back. He saw why Aleppo fell to them and why the Syrians embraced Russians and President Putin as their savior, too.
That really drives the Brits, the Independent and Fisk nutsy.
Because I always have a sensor on that looks for propaganda, I merely register notice of Fisk’s person irks and read for the new facts. Because he is magnificent in his deep history in the region, a region that is a labyrinth of schemes, lies, plots and propaganda, Fisk always delivers new, important information.
Now, understand his relationship inside the Levant. He was close to the Hariri family and the great sin of Assad and Assad’s friends then and now is being accused of assassinating Rafic Hariri in a car bombing.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rafic_Hariri
So his bitter comment about not giving the anti-tank missiles to Lebanon via a loan (which he also says is in negotiations) was a weak attempt at a final slap at Putin. I had to laugh, because I know the whole story of Fisk.
A few months ago, Putin was visited by Hariri’s son, Saas, PM of Lebanon, in Moscow. They got along well. Lebanon is working with Hezbollah along the border to wipe out ISIS and al Nusra. This was very uncomfortable for the West, Brits especially. Facts that Fisk might have written about, but that would be counter to his personal pain of losing Rafic, a dear friend. Fisk has always based in Beirut. He thinks he knows who did the assassination. It would have been assisted by Hezbollah, if it was Assad’s people, and thus, he burns against Assad and anyone who assists his stay in power and life on Earth.
None of this bothers me about Fisk. I know how to read him. He’s still a great source of deep insights and delivery of facts. But not on everything.
(By the way, I have a huge animosity, irrationally, toward most everything British. But not all.) So, I have a long history of reading Fisk and evaluating him. He’s rare. The best thing he brings is the deep century-long continuum of facts, people, events, from the pre-WWI
time to today’s machinations. And that is profoundly a British history also.
Fisk is good, real good at journalism. He’s also very detailed, maniacally detailed with facts when he writes historically. It’s from a personal POV, thus, it is not neutral. But if you understand that, it’s rich and rewarding.
His “Great War for Civilisation, The Conquest of the Middle East” is must reading if you want a history that matters.
I hooked into his writings in the 70’s. Beirut was a nightmare. He was a good guide to have.
He’s quite a bit like Sy Hersh. They produce facts impossible to deal with but to accept them, regardless of their POV or “dressing” served with them. Just learn what is fact and what is dressing.
The New York Times once described Robert Fisk as “probably the most famous foreign correspondent in Britain”.[10] He reported the Northern Ireland troubles in the 1970s, the Portuguese Revolution in 1974, the Lebanese Civil War, the Iranian revolution in 1979, the Soviet war in Afghanistan, the Iran–Iraq War, the Gulf War, the Bosnian War, the Algerian Civil War, the Kosovo War, the 2001 international intervention in Afghanistan, the invasion of Iraq in 2003, the Arab Spring in 2011 and the ongoing Syrian Civil War.
Read the rest of this Wikipedia article. It will open your eyes a bit.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Fisk
I may add to this, that I have read quite some articles and books of Fisk. Next to the abovementioned, ‘Pity the nation’ (about the civil wars in Lebanon) is also a fine read concerning the history of the ME.
With all the wars he has witnessed, it is a miracle that he is still alive and also a miracle that he still has some sanity.
Fisk may be cynical or emotional every now and then, but I don’t believe he is an ‘agent’. He goes somewhat over the edge about Putin, but that gives me just some shoulder shrugging. Fisk has critisized the British establishment (also in very cynical style) often enough.
However, the overall point that twilight mentiones, the dancing together of the British and US, is something I agree with.
Often enough the British cooked something up and let the US do it. Or stirred something up. How about this one of Boris Johnson: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/north-korea-boris-johnson-donald-trump-america-preemptive-strike-nuclear-attack-chatham-house-a8014921.html
Coincidence? I wonder. Since the DPRK isn’t impressed at all of the ‘Commander in tweet’, do we have a nice new angle here? I don’t believe Johnson is at the table in the Pentagon.
Cheers, Rob
Lately, I sense a change in President Putins tone. I have always admired his way of reacting to manipulative (i.e. “stupid”) questions of Western journalists. Sure enough, he is still arguing elaborately, politely, diplomatically. Mostly. But, more often now, he lets his vis-à-vis know what he thinks of their arguments.
If you have the time, listen (and watch!) how Mr. Putin is answering questions from Mrs. Sabine Fischer, Germany, and Mrs. Toby Gatin, an American journalist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB3MkCnhKks, at 3:06:12 and 3:18:14 respectively. Very revealing.
Overall, I am getting the uncomfortable feeling that he is losing his patience with the West / the U.S.
Putin’s assessment of what has happened in the Ukraine is exactly the same as my understanding, after following events very closely at the time. I appreciate this update on what is happening with the Ukraine. He has set forth Russia’s position in no uncertain terms. I am very impressed with how he is able to set forth the dynamics of relations with the U.S. and Europe. I cannot say how much I appreciate the clarity that he brings to this situation.
Let everyone in the world wake up to the positioning of Nazis in the Ukraine. They are a clear threat. We ignore it at our peril.
Is there any chance of a transcript of this? It is as succinct a summing up of the situation as I have seen.
Hi, see my comment, above, for how to find the transcript:
http://thesaker.is/putins-answers-a-us-journalist-on-the-ukraine/#comment-428815
Very interesting — thanks much for posting this!
I also had some trouble playing this video on an iPad, but it works fine on OS X.
While Putin is very eloquent, very succinct, and speaking at a diplomatic level, I feel there is a historical context here that could be flushed out further to clarify the conflict.
Could somebody here perhaps help me with some questions about Putin’s narration of what happened in the Ukraine?
I’m asking this because many times I have found myself speaking with people who just believe the narrative that’s been given by the Western MSM. I can speak to some parts of this, but other parts I cannot.
First, on the subject of the Maidan, it is usually not difficult to establish that it was a coup, that the US paid 5 billion dollars to “help” overthrow the Yanukovych government. There is evidence (e.g., photo of Nuland with Arseniy Yatsenyuk before he was installed as PM). Most people who only follow the MSM narrative don’t know about this and cannot respond to it.
Next, the civil war in the east and the “annexation” of Crimea are more complicated. The MSM story is roughly that Russia “invaded” Crimea and held a gun to the heads of the whole population as they were going to vote. I have found it difficult to refute this claim, as I don’t understand the context well.
Putin says: “Crimea declared its independence and its reunification with Russia”, referring to Declaration of Independence on March 11, 2014, that was contingent on the outcome of the March 16th referendum.
The second point of the Declaration of Independence states that the “Republic of Crimea will be a democratic, laic and multinational state”. I gather this was in response to policy changes that occurred with the coup in Kiev, that would directly impact Crimea. Policy changes concerning Ukraine as a multi-lingual, multi-ethnic state. However, I am vague on what, exactly, these policy changes were, and why, specifically, Crimea was motivated to leave the Ukraine.
As part of this, there is the claim that Russian forces “seized control” of the Crimean parliament on February 27th, used the implied threat of violence to dissolve the Council of Ministers, and installed a new “pro-Russian” Prime Minister.
I believe that subsequent polls (e.g., by the Pew Research Centre) that show 90+% of the population believed the referendum was free and fair, but I’m not sure how to speak to the claims that Russia “annexed” Crimea and there was coercion involved.
The Donbass war is a separate issue, but I gather that, in a similar fashion, the desire for autonomy was motivated by specific policy changes imposed by Kiev after the coup. Again, though, I am not clear on the particulars.
Finally, at the end of this clip from the Valdai Club Conference, Putin says: “We like Ukraine and I really regard the Ukrainian people as a brotherly nation if not just one nation, part of the Russian nation. Even though Russian nationalists do not like this and Ukrainian nationalists do not like this either, this is my position, my point of view. Sooner or later, it will happen – reunification, not on an interstate level but in terms of restoring our relations.”
While this is a very admirable statement, I can’t help but worry that it will be quoted out of context and distorted to make it sound as if Putin seeks to re-incorporate all of the Ukraine into Russia — which is, again, the Russophobic fear-mongering line being peddled by the Western MSM.
If anybody could clarify some of the context here, giving links to specific evidence (i.e., post-coup decisions by the govt, etc.), or could suggest lines of argument for refuting the narrative being circulated in the West, I would really appreciate it.
Any of you who are ‘The Old Guard’ know that I have commented extensively in the past about the coup and situation in Ukraine and the events leading up to the referendum in Krimea in March of 2014. Having read a few of the comments on this article I can only understand that a few have a slight difficulty remembering and/or understanding events in 13-14 that were reported on widely both in Russian and some, a few, ‘west’ news articles.
Case in point and to give this poster, ‘Acacia’, some informations, here is what really happened in Krimu and Sevastopol, actually in a nutshell. There was a whole lot more than this and to be honest I’m working mightily on the next two short books concerning the events here from fall of ’13 through spring of ’14.
The change of government in Kiev was a violent and bloody coup. For Heaven’s sake, just do a short search on youtube and you will see tons of vids showing the events in maidan including various western politcals openly supporting the coup and fighters in maidan from beginning to end.
Make no mistake, the coup in Kiev had several goals, not the least of which was a stick in the eye of V V Putin and Russia, but the overriding goal was Sevastopol, which has the finest harbor on the Black Sea. NATO was already in Sevastopol and another city, small delegations but working hard. By taking Ukraine and defacto Krimu and Sevastopol with Ukraine, NATO had fond dreams of Sevastopol becoming the major NATO base on the Sea, turning the peninsula in to an armed camp with ‘defensive’ missile batteries, which by the by are quite capable on a moments notice of becoming offensive, IOW an anti missile battery can instantly be reloaded with Tomahawk cruise missiles. You can look it up, find the range of both anti missile missiles and Tomahawks, do the math and draw the range circles to see how much of Russia these batteries would cover.
Sevastopol. We had followed almost by the hour the unfolding events in Kiev from the beginning in fall of ’13, through the first ‘rallies’ which supposedly filled the streets of Kiev with a million citizens (ain’t photo shop grand?), the ever increasing violence, the pressure on Yanukovitch and the government to be gentle with the coup promulgators etc etc etc. The day after the coup was successfully prosecuted and our brave Yanukovitch ran to Krimu, there was a meeting in Naxhimov Square in City Center of Sevastopol. Quite some thousands of citizens were at the rally and our appointed, not elected, never elected, ‘governor’, read ‘mayor’ for you westerners, didn’t know what to do or say so he just waffled back and forth in discourse with the citizens. The new and illegal government in Kiev, on the other hand, was rather vociferous in it’s condemnation of the citizen’s rally in City Center. As an aside, there were also rallies in Simferopol, Kerch, a small one in Yalta, and Feodosya.
The next day, Sunday, there was a bigger rally in Naxhimov Square and A. Chalyi, a local and respected business man, was elected by the massive crowds as the people’s governor of Sevastopol. Kiev was apoplectic as was Five Points and Foggy Bottom.
The catalyst for the events in Krimu and Sevastopol was Monday after the coup. At 09:00 that morning, on Channel 5 in Kiev, owned by Petro Poroshenko, the two victors of maidan, Oleg Tyagnibok, the leader of Svoboda Party in Ukraine (Svoboda was an avowedly Nazi party, all you had to do was read their web site, which was cleaned a month later) and a sitting deputat in the Ukraine Rada in Kiev, and Dymitro Yarosh, the leader of the openly Nazi Right Sector organization, gave a live interview. In that relatively short interview, which we and half of Sevastopol and Krimu watched live, both of those worthies clearly, in so many words, said they would lead their combined forces of 5500 fighters to this city and Krimu and ‘put every Russian there to the knife and make the streets run red with blood’.
You think we didn’t take them seriously when their statements were combined with the ever increasing and vitriolic statements emanating from Kiev? When we walked out of our front gate after hearing our neighbors talking in the street, we saw some were terrified but most, including the men, were galvanized to action. That evening the first block posts began to appear on the roads leading in to Sevastopol and Opolchensya, Local Defense Corp, began to arm up. Tuesday late evening, after more and ever increasingly threatening communications from Kiev, real block posts were set up with concrete barriers and mostly unarmed Opolchensya, unarmed that is with no firearms but a couple old hunting rifles and with clubs. By Wednesday morning Krimu and Sevastopol were effectively blockaded from Ukraine.
There is far more to this recounting of what happened but that’s it in a nutshell. As for the ‘invasion’ of Krimu and Sevastopol by Russia, bovine scatology. Russia by treaty with Ukraine had the right to station various units of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol and Krimu and was authorized a maximum of 20,000 service members in Krimu and Sevastopol total. When it became obvious that the situations in Krimu and Sevastopol could rapidly turn violent, Russia was asked for help by Sevastopol and Krimu to protect the citizens of both entities. Russia responded with alacrity and mobilized both troops stationed in Krimu and sending more troops and ships from the mainland to help the citizens. At no time did the numbers of Russian servicemen exceed the treaty authorized number of 20,000. Actually, V V Putin did not need to send in more troops, there were enough to do the job on sight and stationed in Sevastopol and Krimu since 1783, I think he did it to send a very clear message to Foggy Bottom and Five Points.
The Referendum. It was a Sunday and most polling stations are in local schools. I took my wife to vote that day after Church. We arrived at the polling station, a school 100 m from our digs, and found said school heavily guarded. LOL. 6 local Opolchensya teenagers, one of whom was armed with that most dangerous of weapons, a radio. All 6 had on their Opolchenshya arm bands and studiously stayed at least 25 m from the school entrance doors and spoke to no one who came to vote. We knew each and every one of them and the reason Opolchensya used these late teen aged boys was because these little stinkers grew up in this little valley and knew ever back alley, every loose fence board, every rabbit trail and every pretty girl and every grandmother in the little district, IOW they were eyes and ears 24/7.
At the door of the school, actually no closer than 10 m from the door, was one young Militsiyaneer, local cop. He was in uniform and armed with a pistol but I did not see a radio on his person. His service pistol in it’s holster did not have a magazine in the grip, ergo in essence he was not armed at all. I notice things like that.
I took VCO in to the school, the voting was being held in the entrance annex which is quite large. There were short lines at each registration desk, divided in to the usual alphabetical system. VCO went to her line and in a couple minutes went through the drill. She presented her internal passport, the clark took the passport, turned to the desk right behind her and made a copy of the information page with VCO’s photo and copied the page with her official registered address, wet stamped for verification and said stamp examined by the voting clark with a magnifying glass to ascertain that it was real. The clark then stapled the two pages together, found VCO’s name on the voter registration list, wrote her registration number on the information page copy, checked off on the list that VCO had voted and then handed VCO her ballot. Here, and it’s always been this way and always will be this way, no internal passport with official registration to the polling station you are trying to vote in and you don’t vote. Period. You are invited to go to your official station and vote there and if needs be you are given that address. There is no ‘early voting’ nor extended voting hours. Period.
There was almost a festive air in the polling station. To the left of the registration desks were, I’ve forgotten now, 4 or 5 curtained voting booths. Not a soul we saw at this polling station or the 4 we visited after VCO voted used the voting booth. All did as VCO did, marked the ballot the moment it was handed to her at the registration desk, held it up with a big smile for all the see, did not fold the ballot as she marched over to the clear plastic, locked and sealed and guarded by a voting committee functionary ballot box located in the middle of the room and deposited her ballot in the box.
We then went back outside to a small, actually not too small, table that was set up to the right of the entrance and chatted with friends and neighbors while enjoying tea and pastries brought by the local women including VCO.
While I am sure there were several dozen heavily armed Russian soldiers on the school grounds and probably with a BTR or two, they were masters of camouflage and somehow managed to make all the soldiers and BTR’s look like the slender trees and short bushes scattered hither and yon on the school grounds as they forced VCO and the others to vote correctly at gun point.
There you have, Acacia, a skim of the events in this city and this island of the events in that winter of early ’14. Of course there is a whole lot more that happened. I don’t care if you believe what I just scribbled, I was an eyes on witness to just about all that happened in this berg from late summer of ’13 through today, late October of 2017.
As an aside, you might want to read my novel, in particular the Post Scriptum at the end. Said Post Scriptum was written in late May of 2013. There is an addendum to that Post Scriptum, a ‘note from the author’, that I have debated including with the tome but so far I’ve kept that private, operative term being ‘so far’.

Auslander,
Thanks for sharing your experience with this, and for clarifying the aims of the coup.
You say you “don’t care” if I believe your account or not. Again, to be clear, the point at issue here is not what I believe, but what I/we can say to people who accept the story being circulated in the Western MSM.
I have tried to name the points that might be addressed to refute this story of the putative “annexation of Crimea” but my knowledge is very incomplete. I hope somebody can speak to my questions.
At present, I am trying to get a better understanding of the historical events as they occurred and in proper context, not as they have been spun for Western consumption. Towards this end, I will have to pass on a novel, or any other fictionalized account of these events.
Acacia
I have neither the time nor the will to lay out chapter and verse, date and time of the events in Kiev area or this area from late summer of ’13 and offer iron clad proof of each and every event.
Nothing you or I say will refute any claims to the contrary of what was very roughly and thinly laid out in my reply. There were far more events than were in my little synopsis but it’s basically ‘they said they would come down and kill us, we armed up and blocked the island and this city, they threatened to send in their army, Simferopol and Sevastopol appealed for help, Mother Russia delivered same, we had a referendum that was legal, free and open, the referendum said we wanted to go home and Mother Russia graciously agreed’.
As for my novel, I specifically mentioned that perhaps you should read the Post Scriptum for an idea of how long before the fettuccine hit the fan that we knew trouble was brewing. You have that beginning time frame, May 2013.
That being said, when I write ‘historical fiction’, like any good writings in that genre there is always some, or sometimes a lot of, truth in the scribblings.
Kindest regards

If you want a better understanding of the Crimean situation due a search for the 1991 and 1994 Crimean referenda. The desire of Crimea to depart the Ukraine is as old as the collapse of the Soviet Union
Both Kravchuk, the first Pres. of Ukraine after SSSR fell, and Kuchma, the second one, said the vote tallies showed the citizens of Krimu and Sevastopol wanted to stay with Ukraine. No vote count was ever given but during the Sevastopol Russian Spring of ’14, the ballots for one district of Sevastopol were discovered near the OVIR office on east southside. The Ukrainians were caught trying to burn them and most, but not all, were saved. I have heard of no count of them since that event and those that were found were for the Naxhimov District only as far as I know. That district is for part of the city on the south of the harbor and all of the northern part of the city plus I think Inkerman.
My conjecture is of Kravchuk and Kuchma released no ballot count for Sevastopol or Krimu, the referendum probably passed for leaving Ukraine.

Every account I’ve read for 3+ years is the Crimeans voted both times in the nineties @ 95% to leave Ukraine and rejoin Russia. It was very similar to the 2014. Tartars the holdouts.
As for the Russian troop total by lease agreement, 25,500 was what I read several times.
And the Russians moved out some of the regulars to use specially trained troops just for their steely calm so no shots had to be fired.
Those were all in the sources I had at the time and since. Putin, I believe even mentions the total was scrupulously kept at the correct number.
Your first hand, eye witness accounts in your comments and fiction are impossible to discount. The folks who need more proof are just tools of ignorant ideologies. Every foreign official who has gone to Krim since has reported the same truths. 95% fo the people wanted to return and Crimea was never really a property of Ukraine without Ukraine being a republic of Russia. When Ukraine left, it should have had to give up Crimea. The locals were not listened to twice. The third time was the charm.
The intention of Crimean destiny for the thieves of Kiev was to transfer it to NATO/US and then use it to destroy Russian naval power and coerce surrender of Moscow and the destruction of the Russian Federation. Ukraine would have then been the great receiver of the natural gas wealth of the RF. And China would have been starved for energy from natural gas, as well as for food and fresh water.
All the stakes of the Eurasian development were in that little peninsula of Crimea.
With God’s grace you folks saved Krim, Russia and Eurasia. Much thanks to bravehearts of your berg and that beautiful peninsula.
Larchmonter, my good friend, I simply write what I and my wife saw before, during and after the events. We are nothing here, nobody of any import, but we were privy to a lot of goings on for a number of reasons, not the least of which is I am a foreigner and I look at things from a different perspective than the locals in many respects.
The plan for taking and using Sevastopol and the much smaller navy base at Feodosya on the south coast was to bottle up the Russian Black Sea Flot in Novorossiya on the mainland and in essence the presence and influence of that Flot in the Sea was to be negated. He who controls Sevastopol controls the Black Sea. Sevastopol is not just one large harbor, there are several smaller harbors going down the west coast to Balaklava, some not small and all protected from the Sea storms.
While there was a lot of trepidation and worry amongst the locals during the events, in general the feeling was that come what may, this island and this city would be defended. It was a bit more of a near thing than most know but in the end USA was prevented from setting foot on Krimu and in Sevastopol and what few serving Americans that were in Sevastopol and one other city on the south coast were summarily removed.
As you said, the end result was Krimu and Sevastopol remained Russian and officially returned to the fold. The benefits of these events are far reaching and accruing to this day and will continue to do so, all of this because numbers of local citizens stood up in public and told Kiev and Washington ‘NO!’ and at the same time faced down the local Ukrainian SBU and police.

You need to start doing your own homework.
Stop asking “…what can others do for me…” and start asking “…what can I do for myself…”
Read a lot of different sources, and there will be central tendencies in the sources. The truth usually lies somewhere around the central tendencies of the various sources. That is a job for you. You need to do the work for you to understand what is happening in the world. Your “I have the attenion span of a housefly…tell me how a nuclear reactor works in 10 seconds” approach won’t work.
Auslander gave you a great head start.

Thank you for the compliments on my posts. Two new books are in the works and will become a series about Sevastopol. I intend to have #1 published well before Christmas and possibly #2 by that Christmas.
An Incident On Simonka will become part of that series of eventually 5 books, it will be #3 and be mostly in it’s present form.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond on this.
Here’s a link to one version of the US Navy solicitation dated September 5, 2013 (i.e. before any rallies even started in Kiev, but probably after the plans were finalized for the overthrow of the elected government). The Navy website might not have it online any longer.
https://www.scribd.com/document/270539056/N33191-13-R-1240
Maybe someone can figure out how to download it and save for history.
It just seems interesting that two months before there was anyone rallying in Kiev, the US Navy was soliciting proposals for buildings for their own use in a very militarily sensitive area not yet under their control, with no public awareness.
I explain it to people as “suppose you find info on the Internet that China is soliciting proposals to build a ‘school’ in Pearl Harbor. Wouldn’t the USA find that a bit intrusive?”
Carpatho-Russian
We have them all, 5 proposals in total. Some work had been done on two schools, the ones on Simonka Street. School #40 got a roof repair and a new WC facility on the main floor. Other work was stopped as the situation in Sevastopol came to a head and Five Points understood they would not have what they wanted. The original master plan showed School #40 as eventually a basically new facility built using the original walls.
The plan was to take over the Russian base located on Chelyuskintsev yl. and siding on Simonka on the south and ‘the street with no name’ on the north side of base. This was to be the US Navy HQ and the entire area from Chelyuskintsev yl. down to the sea and the finest beach in Sevastopol was to be flattened, all the privately owned dachi and small houses were to be removed and the area was to become a little piece of American Suburbia, gated and guarded. School #40 on the opposite side of Simonka from the base was to become an American school, hence the very beginnings of repairs and renovations. School #5 just west of #40 was likewise to be American and the general area north of Simonka and some on the south of that street west to and including School #5 was to be part of the closed area.
If memory serves, one of the original offers for contracts date from 2012, the rest from 2013.

Those TV appearances by Tianybok & Yarosh on Channel 5 that you mention in your post – it is a great shame that these are not available for all and sundry to watch.
Might this be remedied – even at this late stage?
@Acacia
Even before threatening Crimea and its people directly, the Uki nationalists showed their true colors and what they were capable of. They had been angered by the fact that there was an Anti-Maidan in Kiev where people peacefully demonstrated against the pro-Europe/pro-Atlantist Russophobe Euro-Maidan. When several buses of Crimean anti-Maidan protestors travelled back home, they where ambushed and violently attacked at the city of Korsun (Cherkassy Oblast). Many were injured and several people died.
This gave ample reasons to the Crimeans not to count on good intentions from anyone or anything Euro-Maidan related.

Re: What happened during Russia‘s „Annexation“ of Crimea
I don‘t know if this helps, but here is a short compilation of Putin‘s own arguments:
1) Part 2 of Article 1 of the United Nation‘s Charter – the right of nations to self-determination
2) precedent Kosovo: if the people in Kosovo has this right to self-determination, the people in Crimea must have it as well. The same thing cannot be white in one case and black in another case.
3) There was an illegal overthrow of the government in Kiev. The people in Crimea never accepted the new government as legitimate, and therefore had all the more right to determine their own destiny.
4) The decision to hold a referendum was not made by Russia but by the Crimean parliament – the legitimate authority of Crimea, which was elected years before under Ukrainian law.
5) This legitimate body of authority declared a referendum. Then, based on its results, it adopted a declaration of independence and turned to the Russian Federation with a request to accept Crimea into the Russian state.
6) The United Nations ruling clearly states that the decision on self-determination does not require the approval of the supreme authority of a country.
7) Other than in Kosovo, in Crimea there were no hostilities at all. No bombing raids, nobody died.
8) „The only thing we did was to ensure the free expression of will by the people… in strict compliance with the UN charta“.
(Here Putin refers to the accusation that Russia brought in its military to „occupy“ Crimea. Let‘s remember that Russia did have more than 20 000 troops in Crimea, in accordance with a long-standing contract between Russia and Ukraine. Russia paid the Ukraine for the right to use the Sevastopol port and to have a certain number of troops stationed in Crimea – 22 000, if I remember correctly. Thus, Russia never violated its legal contracts with Ukraine, and Russia never sent its troops to occupy Crimea as its military was already there. The troops were only deployed to guarantee the safety of the Crimeans and to make sure they could express their free will during the referendum.)
– Bear in mind that these are Putin‘s own arguments. You can find them here: http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/46860 (Valdai 2014), here: http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/53151 (Valdai 2016), in the movie „Crimea. The Way home“, to give you just a few examples.
– To sum it up, Putin‘s underlying argument has always been that everything Russia did during the Crimean crisis happened on a legal basis.
9) In addition to the above mentioned, I remember that the Crimean authorities officially invited several international bodies, such as the OSCE, to send their representatives to the Crimea and monitor the referendum. They declined the invitation – only to state afterwards that the referendum was invalid, as the Crimeans had been forced at gunpoint to vote for the Russians.
Very helpful — thanks!
so very very sad. Putin is so right – he’s like – what he says – is the ultimate correct way to see this – no European or American could ever say the truth so succinctly as the Russian can. Its been this way for a long time – who can compare to Tolstoy – to say just the exact right thing to make a human being FEEL ‘this is the truth’.
Its so sad that the rest of the West – us – is so so shameful.
good ending too
A profoundly good example of why Europe, USA and the rest of western elites are so russophobic. Russia and President Putin provide a credible alternative to western narratives which are portrayed as inherently correct and obvious in the media to their people. The existence of a credible alternative to a neo-liberal, globalized and homogenous world makes western elites hostile and scared in equal measure. Russia has played this role in providing an alternative to the dominant western paradigm for many centuries (orthodox versus catholic, socialist versus capitalist) and this iteration is different in content but not form. The battle is not going to end any time soon, but the unchallenged domination of west is likely over with the re-emergance of China and the new Eurasian dynamic this creates. That’s the game changer.

For me the video opened in a second using “DockDockGo” in Internet Explorer. While overt they are using dialogue, covert they are using the brutal force. Raqa is destroyed like Dresden on WW2, by carpet bombing using B-52. Why? To clear the city from Syrians, and to create the capital of the Syrian Kurdistan. While overt they are using the dialogue, covert NATO is using force in Syria, forcing Damascus Government troops to withdraw from their positions, and to forget the Omar Oil Fields, already seized by NATO. We are living in a World of Illusions, Deceptions and Diversion. In the Politics the words are used to covert the actions.
When Yanukovich in 2014 wanted to sign that Agreement with the EU, the EU at the last moment introduced an article that Ukraine should also join NATO. Yanukovich refused. A coup d’etat followed. Makes you wonder what the EU has to do with NATO, unless, ofcourse, it is a civilian component of NATO, which it is.
Defacto rule is you join EU, you join nato.

The Russians have tried and tried and tried to engage the West diplomatically and they just get ignored or worse. Nothing seems to get through. They are in a stronger position now and they are speaking more bluntly.
Here is the complete transcript of this the October 22nd discussion at Valdai in Sochi: http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/55882
To my knowledge, this is the first time — at least that I’ve known of — when Putin described the overthrow of Yanukovych as having been a “coup” — and his description of what had happened wasn’t even challenged by the neoconservative neoliberal libertarian pro-NATO discussant there, Asle Toje. Perhaps he recognized that no factual basis exists to even question its having been a coup, and that if he had tried, then Putin could easily have embarrassed him. Toje had started this part of the discussion, by bringing up Ukraine and saying, “From the European point of view, the ball is firmly in the court of Russia. It has turned into a semi-frozen conflict; the sanctions that were meant to be dynamic have become semi-permanent. What does Russia intend to do about this?”
EZ
“What does Russia intend to do about this?”
I believe Putin answered that.
So nice to hear that Putin can still lay down the law in response to impertinent questions. Was refreshing to hear.
Very useful interview. Putin obviously is being very “diplomatic” in describing the israelonazi faggot freakshow and their duplicious, cowardly actions and words.
Is there a western leader who can field this sort of information? Rhetorical question.
Russian Embassy Slams US for Denying Access to Diplomatic Archives
https://sputniknews.com/us/201710241058481856-usa-russia-diplomacy-consulate-archives/
“The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the United States slammed the US officials on Monday for packing and transferring the diplomatic archives from the closed Consulate General in San Francisco without the oversight of the Russian diplomats.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — “By taking these actions, the United States has once again violated the key provisions of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations and the bilateral consular convention,” the Russian Embassy said in a statement on Monday.
The Embassy stressed that all consular archives and documents should not be dishonored regardless of the circumstances and irrespective of their location.
Washington has transferred the archive to the Embassy on October 23, but did not permit Russian diplomats to enter the building and pack the documents.
Moscow perceived this step as disregard to the international law and Russian diplomatic mission, which enables Moscow to take retaliatory measures, the Embassy noted.
“Washington’s disregard of the international law, our diplomatic and consular facilities and property enables the Russian government to prepare similar actions against US missions in Russia based on the principle of reciprocity,” the Embassy said on Monday.”
But, but, but, ad infinitatum, israel’s trump suka boi freakshow really does want better Russian-pindo relations…
It loaded right up. Whoa! Don´t you wish this had been played over and over on all the `news´channels when it happened? I love politicians who contextualise and educate, rather than spin and spew `perception management sound bites´. Dude!
Granted Mr. Putin is a consummate speaker and politician. As such, has he ever publicly and for the record addressed the issue of ownership of the Russian central bank by a foreign state, namely the Rothschild controlled/owned City of London?

China and Russia are not the good guys either. In fact, China and Russia are only playing good cop, bad cop with their partners, the Americans and the Europeans.
China, like Russia, is not pro-gold and acts in collusion with the COMEX and LBMA to suppress the price of gold. When gold goes up in price, it will be against the will of the Chinese, the Russians and the Indians.
The BRICs are all IMF member countries and are thus forbidden to monetize gold, or link their currencies to gold, or use gold as a trading or exchange mechanism:

India recently collaborated with Western bankers and following the West’s instructions, temporarily destroyed the purchasing power of its own Indian population by demonetizing physical cash, under the guise of eliminating tax evasion and cash-only criminal activity. This has had the effect of crashing the gold price by temporarily removing the Indians from the gold market, exactly when the Trump inauguration lit a fire under the gold price.
The Russians never abstained from using dollars even at the time of the communist USSR! If they did not demand gold for their oil during the Cold War, why would the Russians do it now when the Russian central bank is owned and controlled by the City of London banking establishment since the creation of the new Russian Constitution under Yeltsin? The Russians are forbidden to issue their own currency the Ruble without permission from Western bankers and the Russians can only buy US Treasuries with the dollars they get for their oil, not gold. There are more dollar assets than Rubles in Russia:

The gold price would have skyrocketed if the Russians and the Chinese were buying gold hand over fist as alleged. Why do you think that Western bankers would give gold away at or below cost to their purported enemies?
Unless they were not enemies in reality, and just partners playing good cop, bad cop for the purposes of fooling and manipulating their unsuspecting respective populations?
http://www.mygen.com/users/ufo/Mao_was_a_Yale_Man_2.html
Why do the Russians never ask the Americans to leave Syria where the Americans are illegal invaders under international law? Why did the Russians never prevent the Israelis from attacking their allies the Syrians?
The Shanghai Gold Exchange is a fraud designed to legitimize the fraudulent COMEX “discovered” gold price. Goldman Sachs and JPM never could have manipulated the gold and silver prices lower without active Chinese collaboration. That the Shanghai Gold Exchange is a physical only market is a LIE:
https://www.sprottmoney.com/blog/the-new-shanghai-gold-exchange-does-any…
The Chinese government defrauded and stole from their own Chinese citizens by encouraging them to buy gold at the top. The Chinese bankers then colluded with JPM and Goldman Sachs to crash the gold and silver prices. Large amounts of physical silver were leased out and sold into the physical markets by the Chinese authorities as well:

Just a comment on Krimea leaving post coup Kiev, remember the actions of Right Sector thugs in Odessa and AFU in the streets of Mauripol.
The killing of un armed civilians protesting the illlegall take over of the Ukrainan Government. Also like in the Arab Spring we saw Snipers in Kiev killing protesters and police alike in the now dementedly named Heavenly Hundred, a fake tribute to the victims of thise Snipers on the Maidan.
