Dear friends,
Since some of you were worried, I just wanted to let you know that all is well except for my usual problem of being one person doing too many things. The situation in the Ukraine is too fluid to say much right now anyway. I expect to write up an evaluation of the results of the referendum by tomorrow morning.
For the rest of today I will try to catch up with unanswered emails, reply donors which I did not have the time to thank and the Saker correspondent project.
I ask for your understanding and wish you all a great day!
Cheers,
The Saker

Appreciate your work, Saker.
For those interested in historian and sociologist Andrey Fursov’s lecture in April about the events leading to the February 2014 coup (first hour: “Oligarchical topography of Ukraine”):
A questions & answers session with the audience followed, which is subtitled in English :
Questions & Answers with Andrey Fursov (67 mins)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bt9m6kQAgEU
Major topics in the second hour :
03:00 China has been publicly quiet on Ukraine, but continues in the background to build their Silk Road across the Eurasian continent.
10:33 Gorbachev neglected his legal duty as head of state by not issuing an arrest warrant for Yeltsin. There needs to be a proper political-legal assessment of the actions of both.
14:29 Lukashenko has come out against the federalization of Ukraine. Does he fear the same in Belarus, which does not have the same socio-cultural fracture that divides Ukraine?
31:42 History of the more or less non-existent Russian elite on the global stage, while the dominant elite on the planet has been the Western one, who are inherently invisible.
37:23 The Yellowstone super-volcano, with the power of 1000 atomic bombs, will inevitably erupt some time in the 21st century. The elite are preparing for it, but it could wipe them out too…
44:42 The war in Ukraine will be fought between private armies from outside and self-defense units from the local population. Russia will only enter under a UN mandate. There are “ways” to deal with private armies. The junta would not survive federalization.
48:51 None of the explanations for the disappearance of MH-370 is satisfactory. However, the list of patents of the 20 specialists, who, moreover, all happened to be on the same plane, is very noteworthy.
50:40 : 10,000 soldiers in Crimea who maintained their allegiance to Ukraine could, legally speaking, undertake the country’s liberation against the anti-constitutional junta.
51:56 Ukraine only had a functioning economy within the Soviet industrial frame-work.
54:12 Road-map for developing the Customs Union (disparagingly called “USSR 2.0”), as the only viable alternative to exploitation by foreign predators. Absorbing Western Ukraine into the Soviet Union was a mistake.
59:50 The EU´s bleak future – economically, socially, culturally. The future micro-chipping of their population.
1:02:04 Stalin thrice mobilized society to thwart the Anglo-Globalists’ plans to eliminate Russia.
Transcripts are in the youtube comments.

While we’re all waiting for Saker, here’s a surprisingly lucid and well-informed piece on solving the Ukraine crisis from Anatol Lieven:
http://www.nybooks.com/blogs/nyrblog/2014/may/05/ukraine-only-way-to-peace/?insrc=hpss
Is the establishment starting to see reason? Or is Lieven just a lone wolf?
Best blog.
The analysis is well worth the wait. In the mean time, here is a counter to the next big lie from NATO. It comes from the outstanding site, conflict antiquities, dedicated to exposing the illicit trade in antiquities. The blogger points out that the recent desecration of the Sevastopol memorial to holocaust victims is unlike the previous 10 or so. It has obscure references to pro Russian groups that look staged. Wil this turn into another U.S. – NATO propaganda opportunity?
the Memorial to Victims of the Holocaust in Sevastopol has been desecrated again conflict antiquities
The Memorial to Victims of the Holocaust (памятник Жертвам холокоста) in Sevastopol has been desecrated again (опять). Vandals painted out the word “victims” (and related grammar) so that its name read “Monument to the Holocaust”. …
Where previously there were ‘anti-Semitic slogans and swastikas [антисемитские лозунги и рисовали свастику]‘, this time there were ‘incomprehensible acronyms. … I fear that the vandals are abusing the tag of anti-fascist action.(2)
A week is a long time… This video, which was discussed a week ago, now has English subtitles.

Can u write a post about how things r in the space industry and space exploration in the near future?
Heard another reason why the Anglos (English speaking “West”) wanted to destabilize Ukraine: it’s because of the natural symbiosis that’s getting stronger and stronger between Germany (engineering, industry) and Russia (resources). A match made in heaven (well … sort of …) that is a direct threat to the Anglo economic supremacy.
How do they like ’em Kosovo now? Plenty of other “unique cases” are starting to pop left and right.
When Empire dismembered a soverign European nation Serbia, it said that Kosovo is a “unique case” and doesn’t set a precedent. What they couldn’t foresee is that “unique case” constitutes a precedent by itself. Every struggle for independence is unique, and its successful outcome is therefore apriori legitimate.
Time to reap what you sow.
Re: use of Blackwater mercenaries in the Ukraine. If true this is an important escalation. The bellicose faction of the US ruling class maintains that the reason Syria was “lost” was because the rebels did not get enough support fast enough. Again, if this is true and if it even comes up in the US news it will be presented as in response to all those undercover special Russian forces in the East Ukraine. Again, black ops and psi ops ( sowing confusion and fear) appear to be part of the agenda. It is clear that the Ukrainian military is not going to kill its own people. Meanwhile China is pushing its claims in the So China sea by provoking the Vietnamese and also alarming the Phillippines. Divide and conquor, anyone?
In “Remembering the important lessons of the Cold War” (May 8) The Saker said:
“Which leaves two possible explanations for the current behavior of the West, and neither of them is encouraging.
First, Obama, Merkel & Co. are lunatics, and they are hell-bent into starting WWIII. I frankly cannot imagine that this is true.
Second, Obama, Merkel & Co are playing a reckless game of chicken with Putin hoping that he is bluffing and that Russia will accept a neo-Nazi run Banderastan …”
There is a third possible explanation: The elite controlling Obama, Merkel & Co. are hell-bent on starting WWIII to attain their goal is global population reduction.
This goal is known to be favored by some among the elite, such as Prince Philip. Global nuclear war is an easy way to achieve massive population reduction, since all the megatonnage is already in place and ready to go — it just has to be activated (which the elite can easily do by means of propaganda and false flag attacks, the usual MO). Global nuclear war would immediately kill many millions of people, and many millions more would die from the effects of radioactive fallout. Industry and agriculture would be wiped out, there would be widespread social collapse, and many millions would die of starvation and disease. Energy supplies would be disrupted and, in combination with a nuclear winter (lasting several years) many millions would freeze to death. Of course, the elite had better have planned well for their own survival, especially since they would no longer be receiving the benefits of capitalist exploitation of the planet.
Of course, it’s hard to imagine that the elite could really believe that global nuclear war is an acceptable solution to the ‘problem’ of excess population, even though, ‘rationally’, it would work.
And, as others have pointed out here, global nuclear war would nicely fulfill the ‘prophecy’ of an apocalyptic end of the world.
Don’t know how much we can trust dr JIm Willie on Greg Hunter show – but it was sort of interesting:

He mentions that Aegis failure ob the Black Sea somewhere past 10 minutes; Lots about Ukraine gold and black operations over there. BUt it almost smells like Fulford…
@New Insight – I don’t know if you were involved in the subtitling itself, but I greatly appreciate your work transcribing the subtitles into paragraph format in the comments. Also your synopses to all the videos in your collection.
Your YouTube collection seems like a goldmine for understanding the Ukraine situation, and the battle for the future between Russia and the neo-liberal West – you’ve gathered some very important interviews and lectures, and all with these great, readable subtitles. Wonderful, thank you!
I recommend your video collection to interested readers:

What if the authorities investigating Cliven Bundy and his friends decide he’s their kind of guy?
Is there a big propaganda campaign in the USA about police brutality? Is this problem on the increase?
Gun rights in the USA?
Who exactly is buying all the weapons anyway and what do they have in mind? Looking at the Ukraine and other places makes me wonder.
How come the measure of the sincerity of a person’s political views is the intensity and thoroughness of their attacks on the opposition? Nobody cares about what positive ideas anybody may have to improve society.
Let’s see, there is absolutely no doubt that Plato, Jesus Christ, Sir Saint Thomas More and others were Communists. Not to mention a lot of other highly revered people. We are talking about the foundations of what is called western civilization. Something does not compute.
Web sites can use information from people’s online activities for research purposes to develop products using our free labor. It’s not all about spying on individuals.
Many successful people who are attacked for elitism came from very humble backgrounds and never “sold out” they are just talented and hard working.
I hope you are enjoying the day, Saker — we so totally appreciate you and what you are doing, but good things are worth waiting for so please do pace yourself and take time to enjoy your life! The mess in Ukraine, and the mess that *is* the US, aren’t going to be resolved any time soon so we all might as well settle in for the long haul. After all, that just gives us more time to figure out what we can do about it. ;~)
And of at least equal importance, a very Happy Mother’s Day to your wife!

re Blackwater / let’s mind language and note these are not mercenaries.
Mercenaries fight for money.
Blackwater, well paid as they may be, are not available for purchase by the region of Donetsk.
Thus, they are not mercenaries. They are shadow military of Empire (pick a name.)
Similarly, people get confused and talk of the hidden hand of the powerful “global elites.”
They are not elite.
They are global parasites, weakening the globe that they may exist.
Hey Saker, can we get your 2 cents on “green” energy and global warming in the near future?
To Celabelle DeCadix:
You are “right on” in noting the “natural symbiosis” between Russia and Germany. The second treaty of Rapallo (1922)through which Germany, at the insistence of its brilliant(soon to be assassinated) foreign minister, Walter Rathenau, established diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union, led to something close to a ‘common market’ between the two nations. While there was tension from the outbreak of the Spanish civil war to the Hitler Stalin pact, the economic symbiosis continued without pause. The German mark 1 tank was designed, and initial models tested and produced,by the way, in the Soviet Union.
Rathenau is a man whose influence on history has been too little noted. Well, I won’t get into that (as I write I’m drying my pants after wallowing about in 10 inches or so of very wet snow) but congratulations on your very germane observations.
Tom
@ Micheal Collins,
‘Antisemitism‘, in its current from, is an Apartheid word, for it embraces only a select few, whilst simultaneously excluding all others.
Pro/anti Jew/ess/ish/Israel/i/Arab/Muslim/Palestinian are the correct [if not the only] way to describe what’s going on at the moment.
Please help Palestinians in being the Semites they are as well.
From where I sit, here on the far side of the Imperial Heartland, I did not see anything to indicate that Vicki Nudelman expected the Khaganate of Nulands would turn out to be anything like Banderastan and that whole populations would quickly head for the exits. But, she is after all a Hillary protege. The dark side of the Force is strong in that one.
I am increasingly certain that this is all about food. The insufficiently corrupt Yanukovych had to be replaced by totally corrupted plutocrats for the operation to proceed and times awastin’. The Mother of all El Ninos is brewing in the Eastern Pacific. Depending on what it does to weather and where it does it, this time next year there could be a lot of hungry people on the Big Blue Ball. Since it is all unpredictable with any accuracy, Big Ag wants to be cropping everywhere they can. Some areas will suffer and some will benefit. Planting everywhere is the only way to hedge. Them small farmers is in the way.
We have met the enemy and he is us.

@ Anonymous,
Q: They are not elite.
R: It’s not about how high or low they’re on the totem pole, it’s about the ability to penetrate their houses of power.
You want to see what real democracy’s about? Step outside your ‘free speech zone’ and be vocal. Hopefully that obese cop doesn’t taser ‘you’ in the eye [see @ http://www.wlwt.com/news/harrison-man-sues-sheriff-over-2-taser-shots-to-eye/25914986%5D
Throughout history those in power have been and will be protected by whatever forces they’re able to pay or bribe.
The only way to change things is through violence [call it a ‘revolution’ if that makes you feel any better], but after the dust has settled, we’ll be like ‘France’ and celebrate the ‘Revolution’ on its very own day [July 14th] and that’s it.
Liberté, Egalité and Fraternité have become historical soundbites, They’re like namby-pamby ‘men, dressed up like warriors, but at the end of the day their armor may rattle when they move, but that doesn’t entail a good fight, let alone a solid victory.
There’s too many of us to be ‘one.’ If you’re lucky you can find ‘like minded’ individuals, but for mankind to fully succeed, it needs a cohesiveness it will not achieve for many centuries to come. We’re still the universe’s ‘babies,’ taking one step at a time.

Your words here are absolute keepers, and I’ve already sent your first two sentences in particular along to a whole bunch of folks:
“How come the measure of the sincerity of a person’s political views is the intensity and thoroughness of their attacks on the opposition? Nobody cares about what positive ideas anybody may have to improve society.
Let’s see, there is absolutely no doubt that Plato, Jesus Christ, Sir Saint Thomas More and others were Communists. Not to mention a lot of other highly revered people. We are talking about the foundations of what is called western civilization. Something does not compute.”
Thank you for them.
Otoh, I’m going to dispute you very strongly on a couple of other points. The BLM guys have been scared witless by Bundy’s type since forever. I mean literally cowering since Bill Clinton’s time bc after Waco they knew he’d never defend them, Even. Though. They. Were. Right. We’ll see what the FBI do, but we’re talking Eric Holder so my guess is not much. And there is Absolutely. NO. campaign here about police brutality — even though there should be. Shoot First, Think Later seems to have become their motto just about everywhere lately. Most guns are being purchased by people who are afraid inner-city blacks will descend on their lily-white neighborhoods and steal their teevees — used to be robbery, now it’s called home invasion. And trust me, no sane person of color would dare knock on a door in an all-white neighborhood, largely because of the odds of being shot to death on the spot. White paranoia, pure and simple. If the feds decided to come for you, I don’t care what kind of weaponry you have, you can only fire one at a time and, newsflash, they’ll win. Also, relatively few people from truly humble backgrounds make it into the .01%, and only a small percentage of those guys are the elites who actually run the show.

Huh? Who said Blackwater was working for Donetsk? Try Kiev, though, contracted to and paid for by us.
Tom Garrett,
Hope your cattle are ok! You know an awful lot about this stuff; I’m really curious about your background, if you can divulge it comfortably. In any case, I’m impressed.
I am ashamed to reveal that a state-owned Norwegian television channel (NRK ) has interviewed the chief spokesman for the violent fascism in Ukraine , Pravij Sector Leader Dmitro Jarosj on prime time. He interviewer (Hans -Wilhelm Steifeldt ) , he is so named Russia expert, but he is very anti – Russian.
http://tv.nrk.no/serie/dagsrevyen/nnfa03050414/04-05-2014#t=31m36s
I was disgusted when I discovered that the interview is two days after the massacre in Odessa , which Jarosj men were involved in , and that he wholeheartedly supported.
It scares me that the propaganda is so strong. I have been told that people want to deport me out of Norway , they call me a traitor , Quisling , and says that I should be hung . All this just because I raise my voice.
Reminds me of this. It is old, but important.
First they took the Communists
but I did not care
I was not a Communist.
Then they took the trade unionists
but I did not care
I was not union man.
So they took the Jews
but I did not care
I was not a Jew.
Finally they took me . But when there was no one left to care .

Regarding Andrei Fursov’s comment:
Absorbing Western Ukraine into the Soviet Union was a mistake.
While this was a key mistake of Stalin, it really was only a small subset of a much larger series of mistakes in using the power he had in 1945 to redraw boundaries in Europe in a way that would have been much more favorable to the Soviet Union/Russia into the future from that date. I will explain this from the perspective of what Stalin should have done for the future from his own perspective.
This mistake was linked to a bigger mistake in the treatment of Eastern Germany. It would have been enough to take Volhynia (which had been purged of Poles by the OUN and suchlike), and SW Belarus in the region of Pinsk. But because Poland lost Galacia and the strip between Belarus and Lithuania, both thick with Poles, it was felt there was a need to compensate them with Silesia and Pommerania. To accomplish this, Stalin expelled 12 million Germans to the west, most of whom ended up in West Germany. This fatally unbalanced East vs. West Germany, and left the East a hopeless rump statelet.
Had Poland just been given Upper Silesia and the Pommerania been rounded-off, there wouldn’t have been a need to move any Poles around or any Germans. the Soviet Union could have absorbed Prussia with Memel and Danzig as a 4th Baltic State and used that to control Poland. East Germany could have been left with intact and retained Sudentenland, and been a country of 32 million instead of 18 million. This could have allowed West Germany to stay with Austria and retain a more natural division of Germany (Protestant/Catholic) permanently, preventing the rise of the only potential rival to Russia on the continent. In the final analysis, the East Germans prooved far easier to Communize and Socialize than any West Slavic people. They should have been left stronged and in place to divide up the West Slavs.
Now to the south, it would also have been better to then leave Transcarpathia with Slovakia and keep them divided from the Czechs. The Hungarians should have been left with their Vienna award portion of Slovakia filled with Hungarians and also the Szekler area of Romania, which probably woudl have left them more passive vs. the Soviet Union. As it was, Romania, which fought long and hard with the Nazis was hardly punished, while Hungary suffered a second dismemberment. The Soviets would have gained more in the long term by seizing Budjak, Dobrudja, and Gaguzia and cutting Romania off from the sea, while leaving Moldavia with Romania.
Stalin acted in Galacia without considering the total alienation of the West Ukrainian population, culture, religion, and language from the rest of Russia and Ukraine. This area had not been part of Russia since 1250. This decision lead to a whole series of related decisions that today have left unending problems for Russia.

Norwegian,
Whatever happened to Norway? More importantly, please take care of yourself! You cannot be alone, there must be others who see things clearly also. Aren’t there groups of people, online or not? Please don’t say no! And are you seriously at physical risk, or is it just blustering loudmouths? My gosh. It was very lonely out where we live during the run-up to the Iraq War and for several years afterwards: we got called traitors too and felt like exiles in our own country. It didn’t happen to us but people actually got run off the road for daring to have an anti-war bumper sticker. And actually, during Vietnam we kept hearing “America, love it or leave it”, a lot also. I’m not sure some folks ever got over Vietnam, but the tide definitely turned vis-a-vis Iraq. Hopefully, Norway will come to its senses, and sooner rather than later. But how on earth did it get this way?
@ Andrew,
I detest Stalin and everything he stands/stood for, but in all honesty, would it be fair to deduce/conclude that after Italy’s liberation and the exclusion of the USSR in the spoils, Stalin [instinctively] knew that that would be the tune to which the West would be dancing [after the war]?
Andrew, Daniel Rich,
Now, mind you, the line we always got here was that Stalin cheated Roosevelt (Churchill apparently being there just for decoration) out of all of Eastern Europe…
But I’m wondering, if I’m following you guys correctly, whether Stalin wasn’t in fact bullied or cheated out of that much say in things. After all, weren’t Roosevelt and Churchill basically on the same side when it came to divvying things up? So that’d be like 2:1, what chance did he have? Or am I missing something, since I’m waay over my head here.
@ The Norwegian .

I’m terrified by this.
@ Nora,
The main problem here is that so much has been decided behind closed doors. Add to that the fact that this is a very ‘Machiavellian world’ we live in and we all should tread very carefully and treat it as such [or at least that would be my advice].
I don’t pretend to have the answers. Whatever I say is based upon whatever I’ve heard, seen and watched over the years.
To fully understand a picture, dig deep. It wasn’t ‘us’ that reached Berlin first…
Nora,
Thank you for your good comments. My thoughts about Bundy were how everything all of a sudden cooled down, no battle, no arrests, just a lot of publicity. Sean Hannity and all that. Then the racist statements, good for earning support in some circles.
So are the gun enthusiasts going to get RPGs, anti-aircraft guns and all that? If the second amendment means what they say it does, the right to revolt, why not?
I was wondering if Putin counters Obama’s oligarch sanctions, he could sanction Bill Gates. He could heroically fight the Microsoft monopoly.
From the Belly of the Beast:
If you think Norway is difficult for a truth teller, try being in the USA. At least you have labor parties and organized opposition. the two party system here is a study in the con game of lesser evilism ( (vote for what you want yet get what you do not want anyway). Some one asked: How have we come to this point? Well, the Roman Empire always had the mob to contend with which they controlled most of the time with bread and circus but the global capitalists have come up with the consumer society. Remember Baby Bush telling the American people to go shopping after 9/11? Well, we now have instead of bread and circus—the home entertainment center and food stamps. And lots of drugs–meth, marijuana, and prescription drug. Most people (60% )are overweight and many of those depressed thanks to the availability of cheap carbs in the form of substances which really are no longer food either because of what is taken out of them or what is put into them. When I try to talk to them about the Ukraine, they are not interested. It is the seduction of being able to sleep walk through life.

Burning Conscience: Israeli Soldiers Speak Out
The mother of all conspiracies – Gold Price
First let me tell you that I do not believe that Gold is a speculative high risk high yield investment. During the Roman Empire’s time, a senator would spend one ounce of Gold to dress himself for the senate office. Today, by the time you buy shoes, belt, two piece suit, overcoat, scarf, hat, underwear, shirt, tie, watch, cuff links, etc. you might have spent a couple of troy ounces of the shiny metal without being a senator. So, Gold is a secure investment that represents low risk and low yield just like a GIC. But Gold investment won’t make you filthy rich unless you own a Gold mine.
However, you must know there are determined people whose mission in life is to keep the price of Gold low so that the fiat money can survive in times of QE. These people are called the Plunge Protection Team (PPT) and they ensure the printable (and US armed forces enforceable) Petrodollar survives its many threats until it collapses under its monstrous unpaid debt.

…because there’s no better time (or fiduciary dutiful moment) than a Sunday night at 650pm ET after the majority of Eastern Ukraine votes to secede to Russia to sell $231.5 million notional worth of gold futures…
And in case you were wondering… no other asset classes reacted in any way like this…
You ought to know that this is all a farce and no physical Gold exchanged hands. This is just a promise to sell Gold in the future. So whoever buys it buys paper, not physical Gold.
You must also know that the largest producers of Gold are the BRICS’ South Africa and Russia. If the market forces were allowed to free float demand and supply it would give the BRICS a lot of power unless the Gold market is manipulated by say: the Plunge Protection Team (PPT) selling future paper contracts.
Feeling rather lonely today, because no seems able to see past the penultimate deception that globalist anti-humanity is a Jewish conspiracy (it’s not), Andrey Fursov thrilled me with the observation that Russia has been targeted by “the west” for two hundred years. However he did not reveal the west in terms of a leading influence over the Anglo-American satanic societies. Nor did he say why Russia was so targeted.
Answer.
Since organised Satanists do believe in God and hate Him, they grasp the impact of religion upon behaviour and events. They see that in order to annihilate the sovereignty of all nations vast Russia must be subordinated because she is ardently and irrepressibly Christian. Especially since the Church’s total collapse fifty years ago, the post-Christian west cannot conceive that it is true religion that empowers Russian patriotism. However, those who sodomise US/UK legitimate authorities do understand this even if commentators, blinded or crippled by the false guilt and foundation deceptions of Judaism, don’t.

Anonymous 00:29,
Everything really didn’t calm down regarding Bundy — the BLM backed off bc they were scared of his supporters, who then began threatening and fighting each other. Hannity et. al. dropped him like a hot potato after his racist statements, probably because they’d lose advertisers otherwise. Bundy is, I think, too stupid to deliberately try to win support by those outrageous statements: that’s simply the truth as he sees it. And don’t forget, he was riding high at the time, he didn’t *need* to say anything to gain more support in those quarters, he already had it. He just made himself radioactive as a FOX-News rabble-rouser-cause-celebre. He’s just a greedy, old, stupid, ignorant man who’s gotten away with breaking the law for 20 years and may end up finally being brought to account. And now his son apparently wants all that attention again so he’s threatening to violate the sanctity of some Native American monuments by driving through them on ATVs. These people are doing everything they can to get the Feds to take action — Just. Like. We. Are. With. Putin. And they’re every bit as pathological.
The Second Amendment does not say a word about any right to revolt. It goes as follows: “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”. It was originally added to the constitution at the request of Virginia slaveowners worried that the local militias used all over the South to keep slaves in line could somehow come under the control of the Federal government. I’ll spare you the long legal history but the weapons people are allowed to own here have *always* been limited by law. Otoh, I don’t care how many action movies some guy has seen or how many times he’s imagined himself a hero, there isn’t a weapon on earth that will get the job done if the Feds really want you. I suppose you could take a few of them with you but, uh, so what? The whole thing is just delusional as hell, really almost like a fetish and, honestly, people joke that what they’re doing is compensating for, uh, inadequacies elsewhere.
As far as sanctioning Microsoft, you know, it might be fun for people here to suggest whom Putin might sanction but every time I try to think of someone I either dislike or blame for a bunch of our problems, I keep thinking maybe Russia’s viewpoint on that is different than mine, or Putin could use them anyway but outsmart them. I’d love to hear your further thoughts on this, and other people’s too; I’m just having trouble thinking it through myself.

re: gold smackdown
I’ve always thought it’s possible the massive selling of gold futures into an illiquid market could just be stop runs in order to enrich the sellers. I assume “insiders” not only have the bid and asks with sizes, but also everyone’s stop loss level.
They could be running a program that looks for profitable setups: relatively small buy orders compared to the number of stops below the current price that would be triggered if the price hits a certain level.
Then by hitting the bids and going short, they could cover at a lower level once the stops are triggered.
That’s not to say the gold market isn’t being suppressed by paper gold, I think it is.

“From the Belly of the Beast:
It is the seduction of being able to sleep walk through life.”
“
Whatever happened to Norway? More importantly, please take care of yourself! You cannot be alone, there must be others who see things clearly also. Aren’t there groups of people, online or not? Please don’t say no! And are you seriously at physical risk, or is it just blustering loudmouths “
Thank you all for your support.
I’m all good, nothing to worry about. Just frustration after being treated as “plague” of people around me who blindly trust the media. I have experienced the same with other issues, such as Iraq and the like.
I’m just a little worried about the anger I see in my country about this issue, and how this anger fed up of Western propaganda. This anger seems much more exaggerated around this with Ukraine than with other conditions. Is it true that propaganda is more massive around the situations in Ukraine than with Syria, Lybia Iraq, Venezuela, and the like? Have heard of people getting death threats for speaking against the established “truth”. I have also heard of Russians who have been attacked both verbally and physically in Norway. It is not a good development.
Those of you who live in the U.S., as I understand it, it is difficult in terms of freedom of expression because of laws that NDAA act and the patriot act 1 and 2, but the same is introduced under the table in Europe. Today, we all are called terrorists and we live in a world where you are guilty until the opposite is proven.
Norway may not have come as far as other countries in this transformation, but the neoliberal trend is very extensive. I cant say that we have a situation as hard as USA (Bread and Circus. I agree on that you have a bigger challenge than us. We had a opposition , but they are very quiet now.
Sleepwalking true life= Digital dementia. You will not think on your own, you want everything served on a silver platter. You see this in Norway to. Looking on their cell phone, lik it can give the world to them. To bad, they dont see the flowers growing and the smell of spring in the air.
There are however many Norwegians online that are well informed and we support each other. “Hot Potatoes” is much easier to deal with when I’m online, rather than in reality. There are of course many who feel they “wake up” regarding propaganda, proved just by looking at the comment fields.
Anyway, take care of yourself and good luck on your journey into this air strange world of ours.

The latest RT report on referendums sounds promising.

The leaders in Lugansk and Donetsk have been more determined and competent than I thought possible a few days ago. If a positive result is announced a message of congratulation will be in order.

I would like to believe that the day will come in this life when everyone responsible, from Obama on down, has been tried and convicted for the murder of this child. I would like very much to believe that, but I don’t.

“Otoh, I don’t care how many action movies some guy has seen or how many times he’s imagined himself a hero, there isn’t a weapon on earth that will get the job done if the Feds really want you.”
Nora, I don’t think you understand the thought and intent behind the ratification of the Second Amendment, nor that many in New England (not just “slave owners in Virginia”) were strong supporters of it. How could John Adams friends not be, since that is where the ‘shot heard round the world’ happened at Concord?
With all due respect, the well-regulated militia as the Framers defined it was made up of the people armed — by which I mean males of military age in the 18th century. Each member was expected to provide his own armament or at the very least maintain it on behalf of the State. Think Spartan hoplites (though without the near-totalitarian ideology), or modern Switzerland or Israel today where reservists keep their fully automatic assault rifles at home not necessarily locked away in armories.
As for the specious argument that ‘a musket isn’t an AR-15’ the musket was the AR-15 of its day. The reason the Patriots were called Minutemen is that they could be ready in a minute, and it would probably take barely a minute to reload powder and shot to let loose another volley. In other words, the flintlock musket was the AR-15 of its day: semiautomatic, but deadly. The first true rifles were already appearing less than fifteen years after the 2nd Amendment was ratified by the Congress on the battlefields of Napoleonic Europe (which is why the British introduced a rifles unit that fought at Waterloo in 1814 — when James Madison was president).
Hardly anyone but a tiny hardcore would say the 2nd Amendment permits explosives, tanks, rocket propelled grenades or the like. This is because these are armaments an average individual cannot reasonably maintain at his own expense nor is he trained to use except in the event of foreign invasion or total tyrannical takeover of the government. But the 2nd Amendment DOES permit mainline ‘well regulated militia’ armaments — like the AR-15. And yes with permits (from the states I would prefer, not the feds) and background checks that includes fully automatic weapons like the AK-47. Just check out the page FPS Russia to see a Georgia good ole’ boy pretending to be a Russian shooting fully automatic Russian Saiga shotguns and Soviet WW2 replica PSh submachine guns.

Part 2 of comment in reply to Nora:
I have patiently observed your comments regarding the Bundy’s adopting the Soros-bots mantra (the same people incidentally that hate “Putin’s Russia” and are pushing their ‘make Cold War 2.0 liberal and pro-gay’ talking points at the Daily Beast, PMSNBC, NSA fanatic groupie Bob Cesca’s The Daily Banter, and other sites) with forbearance.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/02/14/why-is-department-homeland-security-buying-so-many-bullets/
Most people come here to discuss Ukraine not the U.S. federal government’s increasing militarization of police and preparations to wage war on parts of its own population, including the massive DHS bullets purchase which has been reported by the Associated Press and Forbes (so you can’t call it a tinfoil hat Alex Jones conspiracy theory). Of course, given that some of the .gov purchased ammo includes Soviet-type calibers it’s possible that the DHS and other agency ammo buys are covers for Iran Contra style arms smuggling to Ukraine, Syria, and other places where Washington needs to support proxy thugs.
Most people here probably even think the US is a gun-obsessed society (guilty as charged) but the Europeans here don’t understand that they will thank God for the 2nd Amendment and the arming up of freedom-loving Americans in the future when the prospect of all-out Civil War 2.0 finally stops the rise of a totalitarian police state in North America.
Call me a racist if you like (which is funny considering how many both sincere trolls and likely Empire plants rant about ‘Zionists’ and ‘Jews’ here) but the vast majority of gun killings in America are done in urban areas by young black men against other young black men. And they’re done as even President Obama acknowledged about his ‘hometown’ of Chicago with cheap handguns not with AR-15s or SKS/AK family ‘assault weapons’ or even shotguns and hunting rifles.
With all due respect Nora you simply don’t know the facts about the Bundy case, how many ranchers around Mr. Bundy who ‘followed the law’ were successfully driven out of business by the BLM in the past 20 years since Bundy began his refusal to recognize BLM’s authority over his grazing rights on Nevada land, nor do you like so many American ‘liberals’ and even establishment ‘conservatives’ seem particularly troubled by the fact that BLM thugs beat up and tased women at a protest and illegally closed roads in the area well before militia showed up with their AR-15s.
In the Bundy case — yes Bundy may very well have had bad legal advice. He may very well have chosen the wrong set of arguments on which to stake his case, but he is standing on principal that the so-called federal lands in the vicinity of his ranch were illegally annexed by the federal government from the state of Nevada and even if the annexation were lawful the BLM’s pretext to deny his grazing rights (protecting the so-called ‘threatened species’ desert tortoise) is completely fraudulent.
Part 3 of comment addressed to Nora:
Yes Bundy lost twice in federal court. But the ‘court order’ that authorized the seizure of his cattle ignoring the facts above did NOT authorize the excessive force against unarmed protesters that the BLM thugs demonstrated well before anyone armed showed up. The nature of the court order also is questionable because — why seize cattle when the feds could have persuaded Clark County, Nevada to simply put a lien on Bundy’s ranch if he has indeed ‘stolen’ grazing rights from Uncle Sam? (As if of course, the grass would go to feed some other rancher’s livestock who is paying his ‘fees’).
Furthermore, Sen. Harry Reid is making personal threats against a citizen of his state and this would have been unacceptable 20 years ago — Bundy’s son at least could have taken Reid to court to seek a cease and desist from threats letter from a non-corrupted judge. But now the USSA has descended into such a state of lawless thuggery in our government that US Senators think it’s ok to threaten people in their states who have disputes with the feds with violence and/or death. Meanwhile Reid’s son Rory was involved in proposed Chinese solar farm projects (the denials of this you see online are playing word games, using the younger Reid’s carefully parsed denials while ignoring the solar farm projects within 40 miles and the need for ‘offset areas’ that included lands Bundy’s cattle grazed on — so once again Media Matters et al are covering up and deflecting from the truth).
Nora a court order is not a license to abuse the general public in the vicinity of an arrest! It isn’t a license to kill cattle in the process of ’rounding them up’ because BLM is staffed by bureaucrats not cowboys. Nor is it a license to bring in Blackwater-type contractors clearly distinguishable from regular BLM bureaucrats by their military bearing and special forces in Afghanistan-style beards and goatees. And a court order wherein the federal judiciary is being suborned for the abuse of public land and the end of all grazing rights in a particular area using a fraudulent environmental cover cries out for non-violent civil disobedience of it. Especially when the land grab in question isn’t even normal domestic corruption but involves the collection of ‘collateral’ by the officially Communist Chinese government over America’s sky high debt to Beijing.
Furthermore Nora this may shock you, but Bundy could very well be a racist — and it STILL WOULDN’T MAKE THE BLM ANY LESS THUGGISH OR ITS ACTIONS LEGAL. For the record, Bundy denies the charge of racism and says his comments were taken out of context. If you watch the full video of his remarks you will see that
1) he praised the family values of Mexican illegal aliens, the majority of whom he said don’t wind up on welfare
2) he was questioning whether the black family in America has exchanged one form of servitude for another
3) Bundy made it clear he was not condoning slavery or saying it was ok in any shape or form
4) unreported by the lying MSM and even Fox News which lied by omission, ignoring (except for Hannity) the earlier BLM thuggery prior to the standoff, there were also black American veteran militia members who hugged Bundy after coming out to defend him alongside white militia men!
I won’t post any more OT comments on the Bundy situation (except to say many progressive website readers and the people behind Snopes are too stupid or craven to understand that the land grab of Bundy’s grazing areas did not have to be right up against his ranch house to be relevant, even territory coveted by Chinese investors 40 MILES AWAY
http://www.snopes.com/politics/conspiracy/nevada.asp
is highly relevant due to so-called ‘offsets’ in federal land enviro regs and BLM ‘studies’ promoted by outside greenwashing groups with murky corporatist backers). But I encourage all Saker readers to look deeper into the interests behind the Bureau of Land (Mis)management putting 52 other ranchers out of business around Cliven Bundy’s ranch since he refused to pay the new grazing fees they implemented 20 years ago. And why Bundy’s supporters were singled out for tasing and other acts of thuggish brutality to break up a peaceful protest when the BLM illegally closed roads well before armed supporters showed up.
Follow the money. America is broke with a debt that can never be paid off. Why do you all think that Obama is relentlessly expanding ‘federal lands’ that hold valuable mineral resources?
http://www.infowars.com/breaking-sen-harry-reid-behind-blm-land-grab-of-bundy-ranch/
Yes it’s Infowars but the document was pulled off the BLM website and no one has disputed its authenticity
Rather than bemoaning the Bundy Ranch situation perhaps we should celebrate the fact that Bundy’s supporters finally got the jackbooted BLM thugs to back down, and Washington suffered a humiliating defeat that it is still smarting from at the hands of the American patriot movement. The District of Criminals was put on notice that there will be no more Wacos (where the BATF decided to do a black ninja suit raid instead of simply arresting David Koresh in town, not unlike the Bundy situation where they had to bring out massive forces to rustle up cattle instead of simply putting a lien on Bundy’s ranch and fighting it out in court from that point!) or Ruby Ridge. Not in the age of camera phones and instant YouTube uploads where the whole world can see how Kiev’s thugs — and those of the BLM — behave towards unarmed people.
From my admittedly US-centric conservatarian perspective, there is more than a fleeting connection between what is happening now in Southeastern Ukraine and what could happen in the US(S)A should the dollar collapse and the cities burn. Or do you folks really think the FBI, CIA and Blackwater on the ground in Ukraine will have any scruples about using what they ‘learned’ in Ukraine’s civil war in a Second American Civil War against the so-called ‘right wing neo-Confederate extremists’?
The same people who are lying about Ukraine are lying about the Bundys and the US Patriot movement, period. Hell they’ve even tried (but thus far failed) to spread the meme that Russia is covertly supporting militia types in the U.S. It’s preposterous but that won’t stop them from trying — see @StopAgitprop or other fanatically pro-Bankster/NWO Establishment Twitter feeds for examples. Or read this — including the comments thread which the Small Wars Journal website had to shut down because the authors were being called traitors advocating the use of the Army against Americans:

@ The Norwegian .
“It scares me that the propaganda is so strong. I have been told that people want to deport me out of Norway , they call me a traitor , Quisling , and says that I should be hung . All this just because I raise my voice.”
Norwegians are supposed to be on team Norway, and enough in power knows that dissent is the highest form of patriotism. So nobody is going to run you out of the country, for just voicing your opinions, protesting or trying to influence policy. The worst that can happen to you, is that you will be kept away from power.
If it is any comfort, Norway usually pick the winning side, but in case we don’t, it is nice to have dissidents, so we can continue the age old tradition of supplying sailors, soldiers and expertise to the biggest hegemonic power, in change for the rule of law in the home country.
http://www.nor-miltids.com/NMT2003/2003-nr%2012/Artikler/Dansk-norske%20leietropper-Bjercke.html
At the moment we do as the USA tells us, and when the USA goes down, we will just change history a bit, and do the same deal with the new hegemonic power.
The Ukraine stuff is just none of our business, so the media downplays the whole deal, and Norwegian politicians just keep their mouths shut, as they know they have to cooperate with Russia, when this is over. It is probably the same with German, Finnish or other countries with economic ties with Russia.
The more I see of the Ukrainian conflict, the more it looks like a theater war for the political classes, as the only way the EU can accept a division of the Ukraine, is if one side can not have power without violently suppressing the other, because so many EU countries have minorities of their own, that wants self rule.
Spain, France, Italy, Belgium and the UK, are very scared of the precedence if E.Ukraine is just let go, and the same goes for Russia, China and the USA. I don’t know how many people who needs to die, before the politicians will accept separation, but I guess it needs to be bloody enough, so that other minorities in Europe don’t get any ideas.
That it is the Nazis that get to play the bogeyman yet again, just ads to the impression of the thing being theater. The CIA-US state dep. – EU did one major mistake though, the nationalists in Europe and the USA sided with Russia, and not with the Nazis, as they according to the political correct dogma were supposed to do.
So instead of it being the nationalist/anti-EU/anti-immigration forces being discredited, by showing us how dangerous nationalism is, the nations of Europe in stead got a lesson on how cynical the current antiwhite EU-US elite are.
Sorry, Anonymous 11 MaY, 18:23. I agree that Anatol Lieven is a brilliant, far-sighted, humane scholar. But he has really New-York-Review-of-Booksed himself in that piece.
He presents Russia’s own proposal as a bitter pill which Russia would find it “hard to reject” if only Germany, with its superior “Western democratic values”, were to suggest it.
You’ve got to laugh. Remind me again. Who backed the Nazis here? And who has been trying to find a peaceful resolution?
Anonymous 04:54, etc.
Oh fergawdsakes. Please read your legal history, then get back me; I don’t do myths any more than I do George Soros. Concord was not Sparta and most farmers stayed the hell out of the war anyhow. And btw, we’ve got a house full of guns and I know quite well what they can and cannot do.
Secondly, did you actually read that Snopes piece? We also own non-BLM land out there so I know a bit about that too. Bundy’s family leased that ranch in 1948, not 1870 as he first claimed, and he paid his (extremely nominal) fees until 20 years ago. He was found guilty of non-payment in two separate court cases, and has tried to use the fact that the US has no right to that land since it is still officially part of Mexico! Hannity et. al. get paid for rousing the rabble, and it’s certainly easy to tell who the rabble are if they can possibly buy into this nonsense. Again, just read real history, like in real books, not emails or websites. And do look for real facts/data/evidence, not just claims with nothing behind them but more hot air. You haven’t cited one verifiable fact yet and I don’t expect you to start now, but it would be nice if you tried it some time.
