Civil war looms in Djukanovic’s not so “merry” (as in “Widow”) Montenegrin fiefdom
by Stephen Karganovic for The Saker Blog
The news from Montenegro is bad, and getting worse by the hour. Its until quite recently apathetic and compliant population is up in arms. The cause of the unanticipated disturbance would probably seem incomprehensible to most denizens of the post-Christian West. It is the rubber-stamping by the regime controlled Parliament of an unprecedented law enabling the government to seize churches, monasteries, and other real estate assets belonging to the Serbian Orthodox Church which were built or acquired before 1918 and register them as its own property, unless the Church can “prove” that it owned them before that date. To make the scheme crystal clear, the legislation Parliament approved on December 27, after a tumultuous session, classifies all pre-1918 ecclesiatical assets presumptively as state property.
Oh yes, at this point it is not a bad idea to mention that since a couple of months ago Montenegro has been a NATO member, a status we are told is synonymous with commitment to certain “values,” whatever those are. Since the two go hand in hand, Montenegro is also slated to become a member of the European Union (replacing Britain, perhaps?), with all the human rights, freedom of conscience, and the rule of law baloney associated with it.
With that context in mind, we recall our April 10, 2019, column “Europe’s last not-so-comic opera dictatorship.” There, we pointed out that “it seems that in one respect Marx may have gotten it right, after all. To paraphrase one of his insightful thoughts, what in 1905 in Vienna [the debut of Lehar’s operetta “The Merry Widow”] began as operatic entertainment, now, in 2019, repeats itself as a sinister farce.” Since April, the sinister farce has turned positively ominous, and blood has already been shed in the decidedly unmerry Montenegro.
To further contextualize current developments, we also recall the following observation from our April analysis: “[NATO tyrant Djukanovic] anticipated Ukrainian russophobes by initiating a ferocious government-sponsored identity altering campaign, in an attempt to deny Montenegro’s Serbian heritage and to reinvent it as a separate nation. Equally precociously, though a declared unbeliever, he set up a Montenegrin ‘Orthodox Church,’ having it registered sacrilegiously as an NGO at a police station. And, of course, he lost no time ‘privatizing’ every state asset he could lay his hands on, which in practice meant reassigning ownership to one of his front men or cronies.”
Until literally a few days ago, few took seriously Djukanovic’s repeated threats to enact the offensive religious confiscation law. But with perfect infidel timing (on December 27, between the Western and Orthodox Nativity feasts) Djukanovic kept his outrageous promise. After granting opposition deputies all of three hours to “debate” the confiscation bill, thus complying generously with EU and NATO rule of law standards, Djukanovic signaled to his parliamentary minions to get it over with, and they did. As the measure that deeply offended the sensibilities of the bulk of the Montenegrin population was railroaded into law, pandemonium broke out in the legislative chamber. Deputies who opposed the measure were forcibly ejected by security and subsequently detained by the police. As of this moment, deputies Andrija Mandic, Milan Knezevic, and Milun Zogovic are still incarcerated, their parliamentary immunity scarcely an impediment for Djukanovic’s “rule of law” tontons macoutes. If any readers have a problem with that, they may address their concerns to Ambassador Nebojsa Kaludjerovic, Embassy of Montenegro, 1610 New Hampshire Ave NW, Washington, DC 20009, United States, email: usa@mfa.gov.me. Be polite please, burdensome as that task might be.
Predictably, Western presstitute media lied through their teeth about the gathering storm in Montenegro. AP’s mendacious report that “trying to block a vote, the pro-Serb lawmakers hurled what appeared to be a tear gas canister or a firecracker and tried to destroy microphones in the Parliament hall” was a regurgitation of the regime’s own self-absolving propaganda.
The outraged populace, led by its Orthodox religious leaders, took to the streets in all major population centers in Montenegro to protest the seizure of church property. In an interview given on December 17, days before the atmosphere heated up to the point of producing widespread street clashes, Serbian historian of Montenegrin descent, Aleksander Rakovic, prophetically warned that “Montenegro is on the threshold of civil war.” His prophecies are being fulfilled at this moment in Djukanovic’s abysmal realm, as an Orthodox bishop was viciously beaten by the tontons macoutes, ending up in the hospital with severe fractures, and youthful demonstrators played cat and mouse games with the tyrant’s police until the late hours of the night. In Belgrade, students, veterans and other citizens gathered in large numbers in front of the Montenegrin embassy to voice their protests and demand that Montenegro’s improbably named ambassador, Tarzan Milosevic, be declared persona non grata and expelled. The Orthodox Church in Montenegro has ordered church bells to ring every two hours in mournful protest until Orthodox Christmas on January 6.
Politically savvy readers have correctly guessed that the only person inexplicably missing in this imbroglio is the US Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom, Sam Brownback, who only a few months ago was heard to say that “there is no nation on the earth that pushes human rights of religious freedom any more than the United States.” (The ambassador’s poor syntax may be excused and disregarded; his self-congratulating point is still clear.) If leading Western embassies accredited to Djukanovic or their NGOs made any adverse comment, that was not recorded by the media.
The deteriorating situation in Montenegro is dynamic. We will try to keep readers posted about further developments.
Serbian orthodox church, under the threat of confiscation, will now have to prove it is the legal owner of the 13the century monastery:)) Built by the Serbian ruling dinasty (which rulers are depicted on the murals, etc), on the serbian lands.
Off course, in order to acquire the written proof, you will have to take the Time machine, go back in time, visit the emperor of Constantinopol, and ask for the proof.
This is theft, pure and simple. In order to continue the war on the serbs, as requested by the Western “democracies”.
They still don’t bow for the Hegemon:)
Yes. it is theft pure and simple; but hardly different to both French and Italian government treatment of Catholic church property through the last century – and less drastic than the Bolshevik systematic destruction of Russian church property and people
It does not make it right because there is historical precedent of this kind of plunder.
This was wrong then, and is still wrong.
Pure zio-murikan bullshit probably by a moshe.
Stalin reopened churches to unite the Russians against the enemy.
It was the nazis who posed as liberators of orthodoxy.
Human rights are individual rights. They have no place in the Church. You don’t make God want you want him to be.
These people keep telling you they’re devils and you keep thinking there must be some error.
The mainstream media is attributing the tension to “pro-serb” elements, around 30% , of the population who opposed independence from Serbia.
In reality, Montenegro ‘s population is more than 70% Orthodox Christian. Albanians and Catholics make up the rest.. What I see happening in Montenegro is what is happening everywhere: a system of tyranny of the minority. And also a attack on Orthodox Christians disguised as a “law of religious freedom”.
72% population Orthodox Christians. 20% Muslims 3.4% Catholics (2.4% Ethnic Catholic Albanians, Croats 1%).
Main problem is that Orthodox population is divided on Montenegrians and Serbs.
I hope and I hope that they will solve this problem on civilized manner.
Without killing each other. Fraternal war would bi disaster.
National orthodox churches have often been a vector of national expansion. As such, they should not be allowed outside their own national borders.
There is no such thing as a “national” Orthodox Church.
Orthodox Christianity is not organised according to nationalities. Orthodox Christianity condemns ethno-phyletism.
Canonical territory does not equal national territory.
Sometimes canonical territory can cover several nations or even half a nation.Greece, for example, has its national territory administered by two churches:
The southern part is administered by the Church of Greece in Athens. The northern part falls under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate (EP) of Constantinople.
I do not believe anyone in Greece believes that the EP in Turkey is somehow a “vector” of Turkish national expansion” LOL!!
There is for example Serbian Orthodox Church, which was used for the propagation of the “Greater Serbia” idea. That “canonical territory does not equal national territory” is just a theoretical fig leaf so to speak, in practice Serbian Orthodox Church was instrumentalized for the rabid Serbian nationalisim. Which is rather sad I think.
Knjaz Milos,
Ultra nationalists like yourself are upset because the canonical territory of the Orthodox faithful in the former Yugoslavia is called the “Serbian Orthodox Church”. If it had any other name you wouldn’t be so triggered.
Personally, I wish there was a differently named patriarchate administering the former YU republics so that thugs who wish to attack the Orthodox faithful couldn’t use the dumb-ass pretext of “Serbian National church” to justify their crimes.
BTW, even Andrei himself wrote about this problem in https://thesaker.is/why-orthodox-churches-are-still-used-as-pawns-in-political-games/
And it’s probably in its most evident exactly in the Serbian Orthodox Church.
How does this Saker article support your bigoted and xenophobic argument, that all Orthodox Christians in the Balkans I.e. the Serbian Orthodox Church, “should not be allowed” outside the national borders of Serbia…??
All “Orthodox Christians in the Balkans” are not Serbian Orthodox Church, which you obviously know yet you’ve gone ahead and stated it. Sorry, but this in my book, makes you, Serbian Girl, a rabid nationalist. I hope you will not slate me as “an enemy” because, I’m not and never have been an enemy of brotherly Serbs. I stand for truth and simply cannot abide nationalism of any stripe, shape or colour, esp. where my basic rights are concerned.
Macedonians, for example, have their own church; Makedonska Pravoslavna Crkva, or Macedonian Orthodox Church, the seat of which has always been in Ohrid. Macedonians are neither Serbs, nor Greeks, nor do I care why both churches don’t recognise MOC, but as far as I’m concerned it’s a chauvanistic move and a gross violation of the rights of Macedonians, who are authochtonous to Macedonia. So in my book, SPC and GPC, have moved out of the domain of religion and into the political arena. As I’ve said before, the purpose of religious leaders is to minister to the spiritual needs of their flock, and once they promote political/nationalist views at the expense of their neighbours, then they’ve transgressed their purpose and in my book, at least, have nothing to do with religion anymore.
100% agree with you here Dimitar. Well said.
Dimitar,
As you have admitted, the Macedonian Church has NOT been recognised nor is it in communion with ANY other Orthodox Church in the world. Until that happens, the Orthodox faithful in Macedonia are still technically part of the Serbian Church. So my statement is correct.
As for your rant about “rabid nationalism”, your government in Skopje has been harassing Orthodox Christians, burning monasteries and has imprisoned the Archbishop Jovan of Ohrid!
The authorities in your country, Macedonia, have announced unilateral autocephaly WITHOUT consulting any other church body, and now, because no Orthodox church will recognise you,(Removed language,MOD) and are blaming the Serbs (and the Greeks) for the mess you created all by yourself.
Sorry Serbian girl but Macedonians of the Orthodox faith like it or not are technically part of the Macedonian Orthodox Church. No one else has the right to tell Macedonians which church they belong to. Be proud of your Serbian Orthodox faith and as Christians we are all under one God but please don’t tell us which church we belong to. We know that the Macedonian Orthodox Church is our one and only church and that is our God given right and not by decisions made by bureaucratic offficials – priests or politicians.
Serbian girl,
wishing you and yours, a healthy and happy New Year. (Though we have several more weeks to go).
I’ve quit correcting these foolish rabid nationalists of fake countries and fake ethnicities. We’ve eviscerated their same lies many times before. Whether they are truly ignorant of historical facts and truth, or they are just willing (paid) tools of the Anglo-Zionists, matters not. They have been given a platform here to obscure factual dialogue in every comment section relating to Serbia.
They hide behind several aliases and refer to each other as “dear friends”, so let them spin their tales. Good to see Nazi descendants l and their indoctrinated former victims rally against Serbia and the truth. We’ve managed to unite the evil and ignorant, that’s a good thing. Pozdrav!

This comment is addressed to “serbian girl”, and to “epithet”, who if I’m correct, will understand Macedonian Kirilica. The article points out how many priceless manuscripts have been stolen from Macedonian monasteries throughout the centuries and now reside, not only in the Slavic world, but all throughout museums in Western Europe. They may be found in The Serbian Academy of Sciences, in the Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church, in Belgrade, in museums from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Odessa, Kiev, Sofia etc. and as I said, throughout museums in Western Europe. They have been stolen, and are among the proof that Macedonians not only exist, but so has the Macedonian Orthodox Church, throughout the centuries. SPC knows this very well, and the so-called leader of the SPC, ( sorry, forget his name ) is on record as belittling and ridiculing the Macedonian people and church, which is frankly much older than the so-called SPC. I stand by my statement, that such people are not worthy of their position and are only so-called spiritual leaders in name, since no true Master or leader would stoop to such low attacks.
Your comments only show that my assertions are in fact correct. Both of you claim the letter of the law as the basis for your arguments, and while Serbian Girl hides behind at least a modicum of decorum, epithet, “goes for the jugular”, openly and freely. It simply shows that such people who spend so much time “fighting empire” have disobeyed one of the most important commands of God, love thy eighbour. The real “empire” is the one within, not the outer one. As I’ve said, I know many good Serbs and we Macedonians have many things in common, but I cannot abide nationalists of any kind; nationalists/fanatics simply do not understand that the soul has no colour creed, race or ethnicity.
This is directed to the individual going by the ‘nom de plume’ of “epithet”. Strong words, ( I’m referring to your comment, January 1, at 12:04 EST )unfortunately, the objective facts don’t back up what you are saying. How do you explain the shared roots of the Macedonian and Sanskrit languages? But, don’t take my word for it, scroll down to the glossary, where hundreds of words are listed, and see for yourself if you’re at all able to be objective, which unfortunately, I doubt.
http://www.pollitecon/html/ebooks/From-Sanskrit-to-Macedonskrit.pdf
In April 2017, VV Putin thanked then Macedonian President Ivanov, for “giving Russia her alphabet”. How do you explain Putin’s comment?
Serbian Girl on January 01, 2020, at 1:00 am, wrote; “As you have admitted the Macedonian Church has NOT been recognised nor is it in communion with ANY other Orthodox Church in the world. Until that happens, the Orthodox faithful in Macedonia are still technically part of the Serbian Church. So my statement is correct.”
The correctness of your statement is based on a technicality, and is nothing more than the statement of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Do you seriously think that God rejects an entire group of people because they are “not accepted” by their so-called peers, or to be more specific, that God rejects Soul because of some condition that might be imposed from without?
it is priceless when lefty like you complains about some virtual “rights of Macedonians”….there was no “rights” of anyone, back then, “rights” are leftists godless concept of 20th century….
Ohrid Archiepiscopy was always and still is a part of Serbian/Pećka Patrijarchy (aka Serbian Orthodox Church).
“Macedonians” hijacked Ohid archiepiscopy, with a little help of Croat-led Austro-marxist communist dictatorship and Monster Dictator Tito. Commies helped you steal SPC churches, and you still use them, although those were never called macedonian, or similar. You have already did what Milo Djukanovic is doing. It is shameful hipocrisy to troll here, and pretend to support SPC….
Unfortunately, all Churches have always been primarily political organizations. Both the National Autocephalous Orthodox Church and the Vatican and now we see how America uses the Protestant Churches and sects to conquer Latin America
Thank you. I saw this earlier and wondered about what it was all about. Given how poorly RT covered the Donbass “situation”, there is not much hope for careful, consistent l analysis regarding Montenegro. (OK let me get out a map)

”Oh yes, at this point it is not a bad idea to mention that since a couple of months ago Montenegro has been a NATO member, a status we are told is synonymous with commitment to certain ’values’, whatever those are.”
They are bluntly revealed by the meaning of the acronym itself: Nazi American Terror Organization. It also proves for the umpteenth time that what passes for ’Christianity’ in the West amounts to outright Satanism. Nothing new, really.
It is all just a part of the general war on Russian, Ukrainian and Serbian Orthodoxy as they are rightly seen by NATO Satanists as the pillars of the real Orthodox faith and promoters of traditional values.
These days we are witnessing historic processes that will leave a profound mark on Slavic Orthodoxy and
Well said. That is indeed the bottom line!
Timing is not a coincidence. In April, the biggest NATO exercise in 25 years will start in Europe, involving 60,000 soldiers, 20,000 of them will be shipped from US. Logistics will start in February. I don’t know if Montenegro will take part.
“They will conduct “forcible entry” combat exercises in Lithuania, Georgia and Poland to prepare rapid response attack units for the possibility of war on the European continent.”
“Unlike many previous exercises at the Brigade Combat Team level, this operation will encompass large portions of the U.S. Army to include National Guard, Reserve and active units.”
“Overall, Eighteen countries are expected to participate, with exercise activities occurring across 10 countries.”
Next Normandy Four meeting should also happen around that time, after the disengagement of troops in new locations in Donbass by late March 2020, as agreed in the Normandy Four summit held in Paris on 9 December.
I agree with timing issue, and there is also a religious element. Orthodox Christmas (jan 7th) is right around the corner…I really wonder what type of Christmas the Orthodox faithful of Montenegro will have…
In a sense Montenegro might be to Serbia what Ukraine or Belarussia to Russia
No wonder Djukovich being a card from one deck with Poroshenko/Zelensky
“In a sense”, yes. But the association between “Montenegro” and Serbia is far deeper. “Montenegro”, another disgusting renaming and theft of Serbian lands, has been Serbian for thousands of years. No other Nation, ethnicity or race, has ever lived on these Serbian lands.
Djukanovic is nothing but a US/English backed, common street thug and drug dealer who has continued the policies of Tito’s commies, using incessant propaganda and falsifying history to brainwash generations. Throughout the centuries
“Montenegrins” always prided themselves on being the bravest of Serbs. This is one of oldest settled regions of Serbia. Will the Anglo-Zionists succeed in turning these Serbs into being their brethren’s savage executioners, like the Vatican and Vienna did with the croats, or will they just become historically ignorant, foolish lackeys like our former people to the South?
Djukanovic does not believe in God. He has chosen earthly riches in exchange for destroying thousands of years of history. But there will be a day of reckoning. He will one day have to answer to Njegos Petrovic and the Hajduks from crna gora.
Djukanovic is blackmailed and he is doing just what he is ordered to do. If he refuse he will end very badly probably in jail.
In American and western perception, Orthodox Churches are potentially tool of possible Russian influence. And it explains everything, in Monte Negro, in Ukraine and who knows what is next
I am convinced the greatest tragedies were the collapse of the USSR and Yugoslavia. Since the events we have seen constant conflict, uncertainty and frequent humiliation. That is why I have a deep respect for China. Sure, it’s not perfect but it never deviated from it’s path and look what it has become. Both the USSR and Yugoslavia could have followed suit and created if not greater superstates. At the same time I now realize that regardless of what system they have, corruption, laziness and an inferiority complex towards the West ensures that these people will never succeed for too long. Very sad that our peoples are still humiliated from being banned to attend the Olympics to changing the name of one’s country.
And you know why that is?
China is Chinese.
The USSR however, was proclaimed multiethnic, a Trotskyite trick. Same happened in Y*goslavia.
If they wanted to live, it would be Russia and Serbia, and the minorities can screw off. That’s how China did it. Because unlike 99% Marxists believe, BOTH national and class aspects are equally important
Beg to differ. Granted the Han Chinese comprise the vast majority of the population it is also a multi ethnic nation with at least 56 different ethnic groups officially recognized by the government. Also though both Yugoslavia and the USSR made many mistakes they were powerful entities with many achievements and great potential. Fair enough, your obvious hatred of Marxism is your right but as far as I am concerned there is no reason why the double headed eagle cannot stand together with the hammer and sickle. Take the good things from the two, throw out the bad and maybe things can work.
On September 8, 1991, over 95% of the 75% turnout of voters on the Referendum voted for the independence of the Republic Macedonia.
If you liked Yugoslavia so much then why did you vote for independence?
Quite peculiar all these Yugo-nostalgics who were the first to leave when the going got tough…
The majority voted for gay marriage in many countries too. Doesn’t mean they did the right thing. Yeah, things have really turned out great for all the former Yugoslavia republic’s, haven’t they?
@ Makedonia: Why did you stole SPC churches and other religious objects, are you animals uncapable of making your own? Why did you harras and inprison priests of SPC? What they did to you? Why did you “recognize” independant mafia nato state, a part of Serbia? Are you aware that by doing so, you break Serbia recognition of borders with Macedonia? And all other mutual agreements about borders? You have put yourself in the same “league” with ustasha nazis, fascists…I cannot see Northern macedonians as anything else but antiserb fascists!
The people’s wish for an independent Macedonia was genuine, but they were betrayed by their own politicians once that independence was gained. In fact, it was the Macedonian politicians who wanted to stay in YU. They even drafted a clause in the Macedonian constitution to the effect that “..should things not turn out, they reserved the right to rejoin the rump YU”. Implying some sort of guilt where Macedonians are concerned for seeking independence, in fact reveals Yugo-nostalgia on your behalf. Macedonians have always wanted their own state since well beyond the time of Delčev, circa 1903, Ilinden Uprising etc. And they have always been betrayed by their “elite”, prior, during and after Yugoslavia.
For me no greater happiness would be better than the reunification of all of Macedonia – Aegean, Vardar, and Pirin and of course Mala Prespa. At the same time I have realized that only being part of a larger entity is prosperity and security generally assured. On their own, these small independent Balkan Nations will just remain backward and reliant on aid and assistance forever. And it’s proven. We Macedonians of the Republic of Macedonia more or less abandoned our brothers and sisters in the neighbouring foreign occupied parts of the rest of Macedonia foolishly thinking that if we joined the EU borders would fall and that would be enough. How naive. A truly unified Macedonia as part of a greater Yugoslavia, one based on real equality between the republics and protection of each ones culture and history would have been the best path for all.
They voted for independence because Yugoslavia did not exist any longer.
Yugoslavia worked relatively well on the balance created by Tito and the Communists.
When that balance was broken, then Yugoslavia collapsed.
And why is that balance broken, you Serbs ask yourself. Crazy Milosevic came with his gang and started with nationalist and Greater Serbian politics and the transforming Yugoslavia into something different. It began with the violence and destabilization of other republics of Yugoslavia. And he used the Serb minority in other republics for that purpose. And it was all accompanied by a horrific hate propaganda campaign. That’s why Yugoslavia fell apart, and that’s why non-Serbs voted in independence referendums. Then the Serbian leadership usurped the Army and the war began. So stop blaming everyone for being the most responsible for the destruction of Yugoslavia.
There is no ethnic Croats west of river Kupa and mountain Velebit. DNA proves that. In Bosnia, prior to Austro-Hungarian occupation in 19. century, lived “one nation with three religion” and “Croat name was unknown”. You are ethnic Serb, Catholic.
They have left when they saw that opressed Serbs started to ask unconfortable questions like – how come that more than40% of Serbs live outside Serbia, who drew borders, why some 30 or 40 factories were dismentaled and moved out of Serbia, in other (national) socialistic republics, why commies killed 100 k Serbs while “liberating” Serbia, what about Jasenovac, why highest croat natuonal-commie official said “we did not kill enough of you…” at grand opening of “golf course” aka Jasenovac memorial, why did croat led national-communists forbade any mentioning of Croat Genocide against Serbs, and send those who dared to Yugoslavian GULAG, etc., to name a few….
Oh, I don’t hate Marxism, it’s just that a vast majority is deluded. Michael Hudson is one of the few ones that I say does it right. My personal philosophy is eternal revisionism anyway, since ideologies are human inventions, and people are fallible, lowly creatures, each and every single one is always equally right and equally wrong. It’s also why I support every single conspiracy theory down to the insane ones, even though I don’t care whether or not they are true or not.
Anyways, we should have razed some territories way back in 1918 and stayed Serbia. No ninny-nanny crap that ensued later
Here grom austro-communist occupied Serbia (aka SFR Yugoslavia), things does not look so dandy – I did not read any complain from you about austro-communist monster dictator Tito giving areas with ethic Serb majority (north of North macedonia) to Macedonia. Actually, he was “founding father of macedonia” since that region was never a national country. Same goes to Bosnia, Croatia…so much new countries, and nations, “from out of nowhere”…?
Mile, I could care less whether you “believe” whether Macedonians exist or not, since you have the right to your opinion. However, when you refer to “North Macedonia”, an illegal project of the US Deep State, am I to assume you therefore support all actions of the US/NATO throughout the world, such as the bombing of Serbia, for example, or just some of them, ie; those that support your politcical, nationalist viewpoints?
When and which Slavic Tribe, according to official history, migrated to Macedonia? Please elaborate about Slavic Tribe called Macedonians? Furthermore, creating of Socialist Republic of “Macedonia” can be recognized as first phase of mentioned USA/NATO “action”, which was followed by second phase – creation of “North Macedonia”. So, was creation of Republic of Macedonia evil natousa plan? What about Monster Dictator Tito, was he “founder of Macedonian nation and country, and, conseqentially, nato collaborator? I think so, your beloved SFRY was joined member of NATO/USA Evil Empire, commies just never told us that “minor” fact…
p.s. you like some natousa actions, and present them positively, and then you are biching about other, for informed – expected actions, because those did not meet your expectations…

For a total of 430,000 people (public census sais 650,000 but 1/3 does not live in the country), the economic situation is rather grim:
1) The current outstanding debt for the new highway is 1.4 bilion with another 1.4 needed to finish the same. That is 2.8 bilion, given Serbia decides to connect their highway onto this-one, it might even be profitable. There are no major population centers in the area, and the main port in Bar is crumbling and not on the Silk road. It is unclear how this debt was planed to be serviced, as the income from the toll will not even come close to the required 140 milion a year.
2) The current debt not included the above mentioned is 72.5 %, it is assumed that 45% is “healthy” and managable.
3) The current ratio of government pension vs employee is 3:1. The assumed minimum is 1:3, hence 9 times in the wrong direction. All party memebers in service to the rulling families were given early retirement in exchange for their everlating services…a publicly funded private army.
4) There are no new factories, employment oportunities short of the seaasonal service industry. Public service jobs are passsed down from fahter/mother to child.
5) Montenegro has introduced santions to Russia and forfeited a significant market.
6) One of the main exports (vine) in their traditional market Serbia, is getting fierce competition. They are already purged from most of the restaurants and are now competing with the low end vinaries.
7) Toursim is a strong income, but the lack of planing and developmment (corruption and stupidity) has led to a significant decrease of income from both traditional and new customers. In short, instead to build the infrastructure around the major income areas and industries, they perfromed a centralized development plan.
All in all, it’s a very fragile structure that can only be governed by despotic rule of the leading families. It is as fragile as it looks. They need something new to sell to pay and stay in power. Care for a disounted 13th century monastery?
@ LouisDeLaSmart
Yes.
You clearly painted rather dark future of nato_montenegro…
But few more dark strokes colud be added to that failure of perspective…
… ” for a total of 430k…”..
. but one should not forget that among those numbers are many shiptars ( kosovars… albanians… ) …
and shiptar number is increasing , and montenegro numbers decreasing.
And following numbers is political value and importance of shiptar voters.
Maybe 50 % : 50 % now , so there are 200k shiptars there , who do not care about serbian ortodox church and its property. Shiptars care about drug dealing.
Among those 200k montenegros , are 70 % serbs , and 30% montenegros.
Those serbs are left without jobs , because they are serbs ,
and those 30 % montes are living on pensions…
since there is no industry worth value…
Montenegro mafia government can afford to pay their pensions from drug dealing money , and keep them on their pay list , as valuable voters, beside shiptar drug dealers , also.
So , your no 3) point can be explained by drug dealing money , not 1 : 3 , or 3 : 1 ratio . to pension takers money does not smell to drugs. Money is money.
Drug dealing profits also decrease value of your point 4).
No industry can obtain such profits as drug dealing. No necessity for industry.
Your no 5) montenegro and russia love…
Decade ago rusians bought sea shore land , pile of rocks and stones , mostly, for high amounts of money. Like gold rush. But since montenegro drug state entered noto , love affair with rusians… ended. No love , no money.
So there is no more money from rusians buying sea shore land,
and montenegro mafia concluded they can sell valuable monasterys and serbian church property , to compenaste for cease of rusian purchases.
By that move … they kill two flies in one move….
Gain money from selling church property , and following orders from their nato masters , to destabilize and eventualy destroy serbian ortodox church.
… ” care for a discounted 13th century monastery?…”
Question is , who would buy it ?
Since there are hundreds , and thousands empty churches and monasterys throughout germany , france , and all those former christians lands.
Churches are empty , there are no belivers in europe…
But , maybe there are… Those muslim immigrants flooding europe..
Their faith in allah is firm. Maybe they will live in those european churches , obviously after they remove cross and other signs of deceased christianity…
A clarification on my stance:
a) Money is the means to achieve a goal, not the motivation. The motivation is clear with the most recent statement of the NATO general. And in genral if you follow Saker’s blog, you will find the reasons and the vilains.
b) The churches are in prime location. A good example is the Monastery Savina and other churches in the Boka Kotorska region that would have high value in the market. A personal interest in the Monastery Moraca has the Djukanovic family, as they intend to build a hydroelectric plant (Milo’s son is leading the project) by flooding the canyon. The monasteries and churches around the Skadar Lake is also prime location for tourism. It’s not the church but the lands associated to the land that they would use.
c) The drug money is Albanian, and everyone knows that Milo is just a side player in the game. Prostitution and gambling can earn you only so much, and the drug transit is taking other routs now. But even if they earn 200-300 milion per year on drug traficing, only a fraction of that stays in their hands. One needs to pay a lot of angry hyenas to maintan the system operational.
In short, the fall of the SPC would allow short term gain in captial investment for tourismm and long term gain for hydroelectric plant that would be Djukanovic family owned. And all this while you are destroying any and all orthodox Christian heritage and atacking Serbia from the flank. I think they were hoping for a new Donbas situation.
And so it begins! At the very least I’m in no way surprised .
Hello Epithet,

May there be heavenly protection for those in CG, and elsewhere, currently raising hell against evil. Pozdrav!
Imagine there’s no countries,
It isn’t hard to do.
Nothing to kill or die for,
And no religion too…

Grand BS. No countries means transnational corporate slavery! Leftist were and still are “useful idiots” of 1%….
Since there are so many macedonian leftist trolls let me clarify some facts:
Socialist Republic of Macedonia did the same to Serbian Orthodox Church, as Djukanovic nato-regime and Ukrainian nato-regime is trying to do now, they took all its churches and monesterys in Macedonia, during Communist Dictatorship led by Croat Tito.
Ohrid Archiepiscopy is still, officially, cannonically, part of Serbian Orthodox Church.
There is no historical evidence about Slavic tribe called Macedonians, or similar. Only Slavic tribe that had migrated to, what was called “Old Serbia”, aka “Macedonia” since Communist Regime, was Serbs. There are massive evidence about Serbs living in teritorry of Macedonia…”Macedonian nation” was a communist construct! Another fictional construct from recent times was – “Kosovars”, “Kosovo nation”. They are albanians, mostly immigrants from after ww2.
Putin mentioned Macedonians who gave Russians alphabet – Cyril and Methodius were from Thessaloniki, Greece (also part of Macedonia). Those two gave alphabet to Serbs. Calm down, Dimitar, you are trolling and spreading lies, and fantasies…
“Macedonian Orthodox Church” was created in 1967. by Croat-led communist dictatorship in SFR Yugoslavia. Commies took all monesteries, churches and gave them to newly formed MOC! Since then, prists of Serbian Orthodox Church were prevented of entering stolen objects. It all culminated in around 2004. when “Macedonian” police arrested and jailed Vladika Jovan, head of Ohrid Archiepiscopate (under SOC) on false accusations, which was jailed for over a year – OSCE, Amnesty International, Russian Orthodox Church, and whole Orthodox World protested.
Back then, during communist regime, SFRY was (silent) joined part of NATO, for which Dictator Tito received American help in $$$, 99 billion $ as a gift, until 1990. SFRY had signed joint defense agreement with NATO countries Greece and Turkey, effectively becoming part of NATO “Europian South Flank defense system”. Not much info about those military agreements ever reached public. People living in ex-SFRY countries still believe that “Tito and SFRY” was great politician who managed to balance between Soviets and NATO!? NO! SFRY WAS PART OF NATO!!!!!!!! Tito and commies broke all connections to Warsaw pact countries in 1948. (goal was to separate Serbs from Russia!), and never been a member of that block. In SFRY was created kind of perverted communism – national-communism! (sounds very similar to another lunatics party!) In short, all Serbs were denounced as enemies of communism, and of other nations living in SFRY, Croat Genocide against over 1 million Serbs during ww2 in Nazi Independent State of Croatia was not to be talk about, it was taboo, and people who dared to speak were imidiately sent to Yugoslav Gulag – Goli Otok, 80% Serbs prisoners, “weak Serbia, strong Yugosavia” was commonly used phrase during communist speaches, “supression of Serb hegemony” another, “Tito is to be loved more than mother!” teachers tought Serb children!
I can only hope that the end is near for the psychopath Djukanovic. And what kind of end, I do not care; any is good enough for me. He is a pawn only, of the same sort of people but with more stolen money.
And I wish the same to this fistful of psychopaths holding the good part of the world in their toxic talons.
Oh, how I wish this time the things turn different making such people foot the bill for their own deeds, and not the others. Only history does not show many such examples.
