On June 22nd 1941, Hitler’s Germany crossed the border with the Soviet Union, and the most devastating war in human history began.

Every year on June 22nd, my parents quietly remember their fathers that went to this war, but still have not come back home. My parents usually have one shot of vodka for their fathers and one shot of vodka “for Stalin, for our Victory.” This year, my mom told me that they had a drink “for Putin, for our victory.”

My mom, a sweet old lady, says that she would take a gun and would go “fight for Russia.” if the Americans attacked. And I tell her that the Americans won’t attack, because we have President Putin and Sarmat.  One wrong move, and they are history.

After talking to my parents, I go to read other people, and I find the same exact sentiments.

Matvey or Cat Motya, gives  the following summary of an ongoing war, that he calls the First Mice War. (Not to be confused with Batrachomyomachia.)

…. like back in 1941, the fascists immediately occupied Ukraine, but Stalin, with one lightning fast operation, liberated Crimea and took the fascists under siege.   After that, Stalin went and took over the oil fields, that Hitler grabbed prior. Oil was very important back in the twentieth century, and it still obviously is.  Having cut Hitler from energy sources, Stalin deprived of oil the entire pro-Hitler coalition and weakened them. The occupation of Ukraine also had been weakened. Hitler’s movement  towards Russia halted. Stalin has been gradually strangling those of Hitler’s allies who dwelled in oil paradise. Hitler was been becoming poorer and poorer, and his allies started to desert him. Everyone saw that the end was near. Allies living in oil paradise were in Stalin’s big guns crosshair.

Stalin was moving towards Vienna.

Everyone was waiting for liberation. Entire nations were waiting.
