Questioned for an hour? That’s not kidnapping. Did I miss something here or is has this event been overly exaggerated?
It is a normal occurrence and part of the mission for the US FBI to question and even try to recruit a Russian diplomat or any foreign person that maybe a potential valuable asset*. FBI=Counter-Intelligence. Russia also does this.
* She is also obviously very beautiful. Perhaps an interview that should have been conducted in shorter amount of time was informally extended by a man not exposed too often to beautiful Russian women? I would also like to buy her a coffee…
Kidnapping is the general heading I used since that is how I see.
The length of time somebody is kidnapped makes no difference.
I could have used “false arrest”, but that does not do justice to those Russians who were illegally kidnapped.
If that was a recruitment attempt, the FBI is truly breathtakingly incompetent. I doubt that.
And if this is about drooling over a Russian women, then again it shows a mind blowing incompetence.
Finally, I remind you that she is an acting member of the Russian parliament.
What would you say if the FSB detained a member of Congress before hitting on her?
You can look at it from any angle you want. All you will see is
1) illegality
2) stupidity
3) arrogance

FBI Counter-Intel has to fabricate cases, setting up fall guys in order to prove their effectiveness.
The complaint that the North Koreans penetrate so deeply and the Chinese spy so effectively and the Russians hack so prolifically is proof the FBI fails so spectacularly.
This dope FBI dude probably was overcome by Ms Yumasheva’s charms and he couldn’t do his job as an Intel officer. So he acted as a man and asked her for a coffee date. He’ll be reassigned to desk work from here on, less the next Russian woman recruits him as a mole. It apparently wouldn’t take more than a warm touch on his leg or a whispered breathe into his ear.

If that was really a recruitment attempt, then this truly is the end of the Empire. That means that the FBI, which used to have VERY competent specialists is full of imbeciles.

This demonstrates the american ignorance att any, every level. My guess this guy thought “oh this beautiful russian lady longing for america, trying to escape from cold poor Russia, I shoud meet her and offer american gree card and she will be running to my arms”

Dr. Reality; “Natasha Fatale? I have not heard of her.”
AA: “She has been a part of the secret plot to brainwash the American people going back to 1959.”

AA: “I grew up watching Rocky and Bullwinkle, that’s when I first saw her and her partner, Boris Badenov.”
Dr. Realty; “Wasn’t that a children’s cartoon show?”
AA: “Oh sure, it may have been a cartoon but it was real propaganda and very seductive to kids, too.”
Dr. Reality: “Anything else?”
AA: “Masha and the Bear, that’s another Russian cartoon to sway our children towards Russian values.”
Dr. Reality: “Why?”
AA: “To sweet and fun with an overabundance of family love and kindness. It’s brainwashing, for sure.”
Dr. Reality; “I suggest you refrain from watching too much television, it’s adversely affecting you.”
AA: “But it’s the only way to know what’s really going on.”
Dr. Reality: “Perhaps you should travel and see the world for yourself and come to your own conclusions.”
AA: “I can’t do that.”
Dr. Reality; “Why not?”
AA: “I’m on the no-fly list because I refused a TSA agent to search underneath my clothing for no reason.”
Dr. Reality: “So the government violated your right to privacy without probable cause or reasonable suspicion?”
AA: “Yes, we have to sacrifice some of our constitutional rights to protect our security.”
Dr: Reality: “Did you know the Russians don’t indiscriminately search their air passengers like that?”
AA: “That can’t be true otherwise our balanced and fair news media would have told us that.”
My impression was that she was subjected to a rather grubby attempt at sexual harassment. Whether it was just a frustrated G-man or a calculated move to piss off the Russians after the UN visa provocation, it succeeded all too well.
