By Dmitry Orlov for the Saker Blog
Or maybe he, like Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz, grandson of Fritz von Scholz, SS lieutenant-general who supervised the slaughter of Jews in Poland and the Ukraine, thinks that genocide is a joke? Let’s explore…
A reader has asked me to comment on a recent post by Roberts titled “The Kremlin Has Missed the Opportunity to End the Provocations of Russia that Are Bringing the World to Nuclear War.” And so I took a look at it. At first, it made me angry, but only for a moment, because there is no possibility of actual harm from his scribbling: his unsolicited advice to “the Kremlin” will pass unnoticed and therefore unheeded. Rather, it made me sad. I used to think highly of Roberts, but now he is just another confused old man who, like our friend Brendan, has missed a perfectly good opportunity to hang it up and fade away. Mind you, I am trying to be kind and polite here.
Roberts saw it fit to write that “If Russia had hit Ukraine with a devastating conventional all-inclusive attack, the war would have ended before it started,” and, after some additional musings, that “the failure of Russia to impress the West with an overwhelming exercise of military force in Ukraine means another step has been taken toward nuclear armageddon.” And then he rambles along to “The Kremlin’s inability to be proactive and unwillingness to clear Washington’s fifth column out of Russia’s ruling circles will be the hallmarks of Russian defeat.”
Really? No, not really.
I should make no assumptions on what you or Roberts know or don’t know about the Ukraine or “the Kremlin,” so I will simply state the obvious.
There is no easily discernible difference between Russians and Ukrainians: same culture, language, religion and history. As a state, the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic is a failed state; as a territory, it is part of Russia. Therefore, an all-out attack on the Ukraine would be essentially an attack on Russia itself. Apparently, Roberts feels that Russians should kill millions of other Russians in order to impress the West. That’s really cute, you know, in a genocidally maniacal sort of way, but completely impossible.
The complexity of the Russian Special Operation in the Ukraine had to do with disentangling the civilian population (which needed to be evacuated) and the regular Ukrainian military (which needed to be given a chance to surrender peacefully) from the Nazi battalions (which need to either be killed in battle or captured, convicted by a tribunal and shot). That is not something that can be done quickly.
There are other, less important but still very significant reasons to take it slow:
1. There is a rather large group of Ukrainians who wanted the Ukraine to be part of Europe, not part of Russia. These are now departing Ukrainian territory, mostly to Poland, and that, from the Russian point of view, is a wonderful thing because the Ukraine isn’t Europe, it is Russia, and those who believe it is Europe or want it to be Europe should be given a chance to go to the Europe of their dreams and stay there forever, helping Europe’s general dire demographic predicament and specific shortage of white people. For this reason, it has been important to keep the Ukraine’s western border open to exiting migrants, even though this allows weapons and mercenaries to filter in (for the Russians to blow up).
2. The Europeans’ willingness to absorb millions upon millions of Ukrainian migrants, whereas they balked at accepting anywhere near similar numbers of migrants from the Middle East or North Africa, exemplifies their essential racism. As it is, two-thirds of the world is either neutral or supports Russia in its effort to reclaim the Ukraine; as the message that the EU and NATO are essentially white supremacist organizations sinks in around the world, more and more countries will shift from neutral to supportive without Russia having to lift a finger to convince them. From this point of view, it is really helpful that a lot of the Ukrainians like to draw swastikas on monuments and shout Nazi slogans such as “Slava Ukraini” (of World War II Nazi collaborator vintage) and “Ukraina ponad use” (the Ukrainian version of “Ukraine über alles.”
3. Russia has a great and prosperous future as a wealthy, well-educated, civilized, vast and resource-rich country, but this future has nothing to do with Europe or the rest of the West, which are going to collapse. The fact that Russia has been rather tightly integrated with the West ever since Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg has complicated its transition away from the West and its turn eastward. Western sanctions, rampant Russophobia and the application of cancel culture to Russian culture has made this transition inevitable in the eyes of most Russians, but the process takes time. It would not be helpful if tensions with the West decreased prematurely or if anti-Russian sanctions were removed before they are made completely irrelevant. Also, the West’s unwillingness to buy Russian energy, metals, fertilizer and other essentials speeds up its collapse timeline and that, for Russia, is also a positive.
4. Immediately after Russia commenced its Special Operation in the Ukraine, much of Russia’s remaining fifth-columnists departed for other lands. They already had no impact on Russian politics, but they still exerted some amount of influence in culture and education, and their departure has been most welcome. Given the absolutely overwhelming public support for the Special Operation in Russia, those liberals who have spoken out against it have thereby excused themselves from Russian public life, making room for new talent and new blood. This is also a process that needs to run its course and should not be rushed.
5. The Special Operation has allowed Russia to demonstrate the overwhelming superiority of its armed forces vis-à-vis NATO. All of the weapons that the West has managed to infiltrate into the Ukraine are either being destroyed by rocket attacks or are accumulating in stockpiles after being abandoned by retreating or surrendering Ukrainian troops. None of the obsolete Stingers, Javelins or other military junk has made much of a difference at all. There is very little of any significance that the West can do to hurt Russia’s careful and measured progress in the Ukraine. Once more, time is on Russia’s side: it will take another few months for it to register in the West that all those billions spent on aid to the Ukraine have gone into a black hole with nothing to show for it.
6. Finally, there is what Russia has to do beyond taking care of the situation in the (former) Ukraine, and that is to dismantle NATO. This will require some sort of small demonstration project: take over some small, insignificant NATO member and watch all the other NATO members run away instead of going to war against Russia over it. The myth of NATO as a defensive (as opposed to an offensive) organization would be dispelled and NATO would be no more. The demonstration country could be Lithuania, for instance: Peter the Great purchased the Baltics from Sweden for 1000 pieces of silver at the Treaty of Nystad on September 10, 1721, so it’s Russian territory. Unlike the Ukraine, which is huge, Lithuania is tiny and the entire campaign would be over in about a week. But if Finland or Sweden would like to volunteer for the role of exemplary victim by attempting to join NATO, that would be fine too. Finland’s security is guaranteed by its commitment to neutrality, based on which Russia (USSR at the time) removed its military base from Finnish soil. If Finland moves to renege on that treaty, it would forfeit its security.
Roberts seems to believe that Russia’s refusal to destroy the Ukraine with overwhelming force makes nuclear war more likely because it “gives Washington control of the explanation.” Russia’s superior position with regard to any potential nuclear provocation is subject for another article, but I assure you that it has absolutely nothing to do with “Washington’s control of the explanation” because how the hell would Washington explain its desire to commit national suicide over the Ukraine? The thesis that “Russia’s failure to quickly destroy the Ukraine raises the likelihood of nuclear war” is… I am grasping for a word here… stupid.
You’re killing me here!😆 😂😂
What some need to understand is, that it is NOT Russia against the wall.
Russia is fine.

As I have said, PCR is a fine accountant.
…and the world is burning…
Russia has nothing to worry about. Those missiles made in usa will not work. Thea are shoddy…english – ditto.
Germans? Swedish?…the Gusstaff is good.
Understand?
This is PCR at his finest:

Nuclear missiles? Even if they were well made back in the 60s/70s, they keeping finding that the operators today are meth heads and that the launch readiness is laughably small
Look at Iraq. Look at Afghanistan. Look at Libya. Look at Syria. Look at Somalia. Look at Ukraine. Nothing but destruction comes from Washington. Will life on earth be Washington’s next victim?
Only 1/4th of it. Revelation 6:8.
Yes, almost complete annihilation, from within the most corrupt regime even known.
Love this article.
I agree pretty much fully with the article. PCR writes lucidly sometimes, and makes important points sometimes, but is rather apt to get in a panic (not without reason), and when he panics he tends to lose sight of reason. Not that that justifies the implied support for the genocidal military behaviour that the US takes for granted – it does not, as Dmitry well argues. Furthermore, Russia’s restrained, methodical, moral and highly effective prosecution of the war in itself shows up the genocidal war practices universally used by the US to be the genocidal, unnecessary, immoral and ineffective practices that they are.
What I want to take issue with in this comment are not the arguments in the article, but some of the assumptions I assume to be underlying PCR’s article and many of the comments here: namely that (1) the US is not yet in outright warfare with Russia; (2) that the US thinks Russia is too soft and is a pushover, therefore they might take actions that will escalate ultimately to nuclear war; and (3) the nature and cause of their hysteria. My response is a theory – as such it may be correct or incorrect.
I believe the US/NATO thought that on the basis of preparations, training, fortifications, full embedding of senior NATO officers in the Ukrainian forces, and full network integration of Ukrainian forces at the squadron level in the NATO*, they could induce Russia to attack Donbass head-on (i.e. through the Donbass, and assuming that Russia would not do what she actually did), that the US could defeat Russia, thereby weaken Russia, and as next stage attack Russia itself; and crucially, that they could keep the level of NATO direct involvement in Ukraine secret from Russia and maintain adequate plausible deniability, so that it would appear that US/NATO are not in direct war with Russia (and therefore Russia “could not” and would not dare attack US/NATO assets directly outside of Ukraine).
* (namely, central NATO command can (allegedly) issue commands and targetting data directly to Ukrainian forces at the squadron level, bypassing Ukrainian central command and without the need even for Ukrainian central command knowledge).
Apart from the last part concerning whether they can keep the level of direct involvement secret from Russia which I have to assume, there is pretty strong reason to believe that the US/NATO thought they could do that – otherwise why would they embed so many and such high level officers in Mariupol, and presumably also the Donbass itself, and almost certainly also Odessa? Why would they assume that Russia would not – in response – also directly destroy key NATO assets and command centres in the US and Europe that are assisting US/NATO in the war in Ukraine including spy planes, major radar installations, command centres, etc?
Key issue – we are talking about beliefs before the start of the Special Operation, not after it started. Russia turned that all inside out from the outset, by (1) a large scale operation against Ukraine as a whole, especially behind the carefully prepared defences so that the huge cauldron could be made; (2) keeping a large majority of her forces in reserve and ready to fight NATO directly elsewhere; (3) successfully attacking Ukrainian forces with a far smaller force instead of larger, in contravention of conventional military wisdom; and (4) successfully fighting with – as a top Russian General put it – their hands tied behind their backs by keeping top Russian equipment out of the battle, away from the ability of US/NATO to analyse and dissect it and prepare for it before the all-out US/NATO vs Russia phase. CHECK MATE! – that is the source of the wholesale panic and hysteria.
Not only have the US/NATO lost the war in Ukraine, not only do they (as they now, belatedly, understand) have zero chances of fighting directly with Russia without catastrophically losing … but even worse than that … they are now all-out committed to all-out warfare with Russia, which they will lose – but they cannot back out, it is too late! It is exclusively for Russia to choose, not the US, whether they will be in all-out warfare, and when/where/how.
If the Russians had not been able to capture senior US/NATO officers alive in Mariupol and the Donbass, it would already seem rather far-fetched that Russia would not interpret it as outright warfare between the US and Russia – with all the consequences that entails. But with high level US/NATO POWs there is no deniability whatsoever. Russia is legally entitled to directly destroy highly vulnerable and critical US/NATO military assets at will using standoff weapons. The US/NATO – because they underestimated Russian capabilities by several orders of magnitude relative to NATO capabilities – thought Russia would never dare. But because of that same difference in capability Russia dares – she can do so at will – CHECK MATE!
I think that the US – and especially the Pentagon – does understand that US nuclear capability is overwhelmingly dwarfed by Russian nuclear capability, hence the surprise announcement some weeks ago of an agreement by both sides that nuclear war cannot win and must be avoided at all costs. With the insane and incompetent crazies involved on the US side there is always the risk of an accident leading to nuclear war despite that, which must not be underestimated. But the most central issue as I see it is that the US knows it will lose conventional war with Russia, knows it is irreversibly committed to outright conventional warfare with Russia (and no longer wants to be, but it is too late), and knows that it is utterly subservient to total Russian control over escalation.
BM:
Excellent interpretation of events or “theory” as you put it. As Sun Tzu put it: “when strong appear weak (and vice versa)” though PCR misinterprets and by the way, let the Pentagon and allies misinterpret it too. RF are masters at Maskirova.
Dimitry is always a pleasure to read for his clarity and humour.
Although as a Shia I am glad to see the influence of Shia ideology and in particular the ideas of Imam Khomeini and the Islamic revolution in this article by Mr. Orlov, who is wellversed in Shia way of thought and war, I see no reason for this harsh treatment of Mr. Robert, who is simply expressing his concerns regarding the future of Russia seen through the optics and the reality of the hegemonic usa tactics and strategy. If anything he is only guilty of omitting the word “eventual”, when he wrote: “these important capabilities do not provide the margin of victory when the Kremlin is forever reacting minimally to the initiatives of Washington. The Kremlin’s inability to be proactive and unwillingness to clear Washington’s fifth column out of Russia’s ruling circles will be the hallmarks of Russian (eventual) defeat.”
I doubt any reasonable analysis of Mr. Roberts article will conclude it to be a hit piece against Russia. Mr. Roberts is only stating, what is the prevalent outcome of the global and hegemonic usa policies around the world for the last 100 years. Pointing to the obvious does not make Mr. Roberts genocidal, nor does it make him senile.
It is only natural, that Mr. Orlov wants both for himself and for Russia to take the moral high ground, even though the second phase of this special operation seems to be more bloody and conventional than the first 2 months of the battle. In the final analysis the question is of “victory” vs. winning the war.
As I am sure, Mr. Orlov is aware of the difference, where one can loose the war and still be victorious. But the question is, whether or not the ukrainians value Russians lives the same way, Mr. Orlov values the ukrainians lives? Or for that matter, do americans?
Having had these kind of discussions before here at this forum, one gets the feeling from time to time, that there are those, who believe, that Russia or Putin does not make mistakes, being master chess players and all that, But the enemy has all the time in the world and all the money in the world and all the patience and propaganda machinery in the world at their service. Even if they loose in Ukraine, they try again some where else.
We have all known, that this war between Russia and usa was coming, being it by proxy or directly. When the americans invaded Syria, the Russians could have thrown them out by any and all force necessary. The logic was, that Syria was already destroyed. What difference could a few more or less bombs make, when the country already was in rubbles? Now they are fighting the americans in their own backyard.
But the love of Mr. Orlov for their ukranian brethren has exposed some important fact regarding their relation with israhell. Maybe the Russian love for the 2 millions russian immigrants to the occupied Palestine, is what is stopping them from blowing their planes out of the skies of Syria!
Mr. Roberts knows, that the west has spent a 1000 years trying to destroy Russia and that they will spend a 1000 more to achieve their goal! So the question is, whether or not Russia can have peace, as long as the usa exists?!
Mr. Roberts is a hero to the world and should be shown the respect he deserves.
Dear Demitry Orlov
I agree with your point of view that Russia should not smash Ukraine, in order scare off NATO.
I also agree with you analysis that Russia with its Special Operation have created an incitement for NAZIs to leave Ukraine for Western Europe and the Nordic Nation. That is good for Ukraine and Russia.
However it is bad for the European and the Nordic Population, because now we have to deal with a second wave of NAZIs coming across our borders.
You can then argue that we have our self (being the voters) to blame, but you know as well as I do, that Western Nations have been hijacked by Globalist Fascists, and real democracy no longer exist in the west.
The hijacking of western democracies is also the reason why Ukraine has received a NAZI Government, who has conducted an 8 year long civil war against the ethnic Russian population in Ukraine.
These atrocities were ended by Russian intervention, however under the threat of drawing the East and the West into another world war, or at least a new cold war.
Many in the west, who had hoped for an end to the East West schism, and future corporations and trade with Russia, will grieve about the outcome of this conflict.
Thus I acknowledge Paul Craig Roberts Point of view: That Russia does not seem to realize and mitigate the hidden aggressive attitude of the western leadership, before it is too late.
This view is not to blame Russia (which has been operating according to international law) but it is a wakeup call for Russia to be extra careful in regard to its naiveté, and react sternly before it takes an army to solve the problems caused by your “good manners”.
A firm NO when the suggestions of NATO expansion or regime change by Western leaders were launched, could have given the political class of Europe cold feet, before any decision were made.
At this point I guess that most of the Russian Government has realized how cunning and criminal the Western leadership operates, and will not fall for any more sweet talk or bullying.
Once upon a time In the West: You best friend would tell you openly when you have been acting foolishly, while you enemies would still pat you on the back. That is the morale background for PCRs critique of the Russian leadership. So in response to Paul Craig Roberts critique of Russian Naiveté, I suggest that Russia takes his critique as an unpleasant but friendly advice, instead of shooting an old friend.
“By the time you got to the first Bush administration, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, they came out with a national defense policy and strategic policy. What they basically said is that we’re going to have wars against what they called much weaker enemies and these have to be carried out quickly and decisively or else there will be embarrassment—a way of saying that popular reaction is going to set in. And that’s the way it’s been. It’s not pretty, but it’s some kind of constraint.”

Thank You! PCRs animous towards the country he grew up in vs the country it has become has stolen any rational and clear headedness he might once have had. I’ve always admired Pat Buchanan and PCRs writing. They both are clear and succinct which is a rare quality. And it makes me wonder if PCRs wrath against the world that hoped for but didn’t come about made him the guy who didn’t get his way and wants to blow up the word because he feels slighted. Even Pat Buchanan is losing sight of what’s really happening. I think it must be very difficult to view the world in 40 year old glasses in today’s world. Anyway, reality ultimately reigns and those who see it will probably be fine.
I appreciate Saker because he had a political initiative, but mainly because he has an initiative: HE HAS A SPIRITUAL SEARCH. That for me is really different.
I consider Dmitry, because I come from a family of comedians, and culturally fond of comedy. And I’m always curious about Russians. In that corner of the world, people kept their soul, and Putin is proof of that.
Genocide has been carried out in recent decades by the US, and no one here has any doubts about that.
The Russians had NO CHOICE: they are fighting for the good of humanity, and they were forced to react.
France is the PROOF, how many times do I need to say this? France is currently the ultimate expression of what the West has gone wrong: Macron is a feminine person with a man’s mask, and Le Pen is a masculine woman with a feminine smile. Women can be feminine and masculine at the same time. Le Pen is a weak person. She is dazzled. She wants her 5 minutes of fame. Putin is of another category. Xi Jiping, Lula da Silva, Chomsky still suspicious of him, but he has taken a stand against Washington. They are people of another category, they are political monks, they are lovers of their people, they are humanitarians. At least Saker knows that, and that comforts me.
Macron and Le Pen are artificial people, they are WESTERN.
Yes, I want her to win, but she is proof that the Zionist Empire (I said Zionist), he is acting for Macron to win. Macron will probably win. I would like mediocre Le Pen to win. Washigton’s henchmen are malevolent, and they are against humanity.
Your comment is much appreciated. After many years of observation of world events, I’ve come to believe that Vladimir Putin is not only the Judo master he is but also a warrior poet and a patriot and knows his destiny is inseparably intertwined with the destiny of Russia and eventually of the world. His destiny is not only to put an end to the existence of NATO which is the Cold War relic but also to end many facets and metamorphoses of Colonialism. In other words with sheer will and persistence, he is helping transforming 500 years of World History. Colonized Global South instinctively knows this hence support for him overtly or in silence. This doesn’t mean that he is flawless (No great leader ever was flawless). This is just my opinion.
“knows that his fate is inseparably intertwined with the fate of Russia and, eventually, the world…”
you are an insightful person and have a comprehensive vision. All signs show that Putin is a humble person, and that he has embraced the mission of protecting the destiny of humanity. Your analysis and insight is wonderful.
I second that. Well Said.
And the holy troika, I third, and America’s Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce saw this coming almost one hundred years ago. He also said that China would be the cradle of Christianity. I see that now coming directly from Orthodox influences. Blesses, Boris
Absolutely correct about Putin, however the West lives on conflict, so they paint him as a madman. Alexander 1st proposed the establishment of the Holy Alliance to guarantee peace in Europe, after the defeat of Napoleon, based on principles of Christian ethics. They also pained Alexander as a madman . Are, Vatican’s ethics, NATO Ethics, Putin’s ethics moral conduct? Which one is striving to ensure that Nations, and the institutions we help to shape, live up to standards that are reasonable and solidly-based. Looking at the history of ethical behavior of each one, hands down, Putin wins. Please don’t get me wrong this is not about who wins, but when I see the dead Ukrainian soldiers that is nothing to cheer about or gloat as we all lose by their death, as we all lost by the death of the Donbas civilians and Russian sailors in the Black Sea. I am sure that this distresses Putin more than it does any NATO leader. Do we want Nazi values to dominate, do we want Nazis as our heroes, to that I say NO so Putin must win.
Are you joking…Chomsky…..he believes the official 9/11 narrative that 2 planes brought down 3 buildings. He is “controlled opposition” and works for the Zionists.
Chomsky “works for” the Zionists?
He doesn’t work for them, HE IS ONE OF THEM.
Chomsky is a limited intellectual, but he has done things in favor of resistance. We are in a complex world, not a black and white world. A lot of complexity, and now all of us in the resistance have to come together.
Chomsky visited Lula a Silva in prison in Brazil. Here on the blog no one talks about Lula, but the fact that he is from Latin America, people do not realize that Lula is the Nelson Mandela of Latin America and deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize. I actually don’t like the Nobel Prize, which is a Zionist weapon. Chomsky has a PhD but it is limited. He is married to a sensible Brazilian, and at least Chomsky is against the bipartisan American political party.
Nelson Mandela was imprisoned under 22 terrorist charges including torture and murder. Any other heroes? ”Herald Sun The dark side of Nelson Mandela”.
Found guilty by who? a full blown Nazi state,Mandela was not violent enough, that Apartheid monstrosity should have been brought down years before it was.
Well, it has been bought down. Go live there in triumph Enjoy.
chomsky is an agent of deception, misdirection.
he gives some good to hide the larger lies.
he elaborates some US crimes for creds and to cover for jewry/israel.
Yandex Translation:
Let’s talk about Lula. He is basically a conciliatory union leadership who thinks there can be an agreement between the interests of capital and labor.
It is, if anything, the representative of a political attack called bourgeois democracy that in an extremely reactionary context such as that of Brazilian society even passes as progressive.
When he was in power lula took some measures of social Interest that undeniably improved the living conditions of Brazilians. But at the same time, he never politicized this issue, and he made the gross mistake of not calling it his own.
He strongly believed, like every More Progressive Field in Brazil, that the people would know how to recognize these advances by themselves. He naively believed in a mythical and instinctive” wisdom ” of the people that would make him understand who guaranteed him this improvement of living condition.
It was a fatal mistake in a country where one of the most depoliticized and clueless peoples lives in the world. A viscerally mystical people who form a society that in all its instances, from the intelligentsia to the man of the street, deludes itself with the fantasy that it is endowed with a “cleverness”, a “malandeagem”, an All-special “way” that would enable it to circumvent objective reality through precarious maneuvers guaranteeing, if anything, basically individual advantages.
There is definitely no notion in Brazil that advances within a society will only be consolidated if they benefit the whole population.
Added to this, Lula and his party made the father mistake of all mistakes by not facing the media mafia as Chavez did in Venezuela.
This confrontation, it is no exaggeration to say, was what established the difference between a political project that was able to withstand the siege of the USA and one that was spectacularly overthrown by the mob in the middle of the street in the context of a hybrid war that can already be considered as a classic case for study on the inability of much of the Latin American Progressive Field to understand the strategic importance of creating a narrative of its own about reality.
This media controlled by big capital in the service of the USA managed to reverse one of the most promising political advances in Brazilian history and establish one of the most disqualified fascisms that has been reported.
It is a” new ” type of fascism that rivals that of Ukraine in terms of political inconsistency. It has as its main characteristic the complete extirpation of the nationalist character that was one of the most important flags of German fascism.
This fascism “perfected” in the cellars of the cia has no concern in defending the national interest, the territory and the riches of the state. The term nationalist only enters as adono in his speech. The” new ” Brazilian fascism, like the Ukrainian one, does not attach any importance to the fact that the state is being savagely plundered by the anglosionist oligarchies.
All that matters to these new fascists is to display their “nationalism” in torchlight marches and motorcycle parades with garish flags, symbols and banners that limit themselves to extol all kinds of psychopathy and irrational hatred.
In Brazil one can still add to this collective psychopathy the bizarro of seeing the idea of racial purity being defended by mestizos of all kinds. What else is totally in line with the lack of basic notion about everything that Reigns sovereign in a country that has noticeably lost the train of history.
I firmly believe that there is a historical time to make certain changes and advances. He who does not do them at a certain time will never do them. Russia, for example, undeniably built back then, in its socialist experience, the foundations that enabled it to rise from the collapse of the USSR and impose itself now as the vector capable of promoting a tectonic shift in geopolitics.
Looking carefully at the historical moment of Brazil, it is possible to see that this advance has not been made. On the contrary, with the hybrid coup of 2016 there was a big setback. If Lula is not killed, he will come to “power” under more unfavorable conditions than when he first arrived.
It is also noticeable, from his speeches, that Lula does not realize that he has lost the train of history. Or he gives himself and is still deluded by the possibility of making a “national agreement” with the same bourgeoisie that massacred him.
Thus, again everything indicates that Lula will not make any confrontation.
What remains for Brazil is the role of the country that will simply cease to exist due to the pure inability of its people and its leaders to make the transformations and advances in the historical moments in which they were necessary.
Analyzing coldly, however aberrations and tragedies that Brazilian fascism has produced, one does not perceive any unrest in the Brazilian people capable of producing a relationship to this fascism. On the contrary, somehow it meets certain desires of the conservative Brazilian society that lives on the appearance of being moderna and progressive.
Chomsky lives just outside of the gates of DARPA’s Lincoln Laboratories. Just a short walk for him to go to work. Certainly “controlled opposition” under plenty of control and little opposition.
No, he’s just an old, old man – a bit older than me – and he’s lost it. The first big sign of that was his total failure to see the truth about the 11/9 (I’m British) ziostan-US false-flag; and he’s been missing the boat regularly since then; about the covid-flu swindle, for example.
Give him his due, though: he used to have something useful to say; a genuine dissident; no – real – evidence of being ‘controlled’. That’s just shallow ‘social’ media idiot-babble; evidence-free, as usual.
Not at all.
I has been well documented by several people.
In all his foreign policy books, he misdirects people at crucial points and minimizes the influence of Israel. Maybe it is an emotional thing.
“Controlled opposition” may paint with too broad a brush, but it is a genuine concept, not crazy talk at all.
The crazies are those who believe that “resistance” can operate without the establishing co-opting it.
Here you go:

Also, Barry Zwicker on the subject of Left Gate-Keepers.
And I need to correct my earlier comment: I meant establishment, but I wrote establishing by accident.
Nah, Chomsky hasn’t “lost it.” He never had it to begin with.
And IMO, Put2 is also artificial. Put1 went to Geneva a few years ago, for an alleged daughters birth, re-emerging weeks later with a new round face, without his prominent chin, more hair, a new non-Judo belly, seemed to have lost his Judo and German skills.. and wife. Search old vids Put1 with late Fr. Prez. Chirac for a totally diff. guy. Maybe cia were turning Put1 and running the show Russ. MIC/Duma.. ‘changed’ him or maybe cia bumped him off so the double was activated. Some locals even called him Put’s ghost! Your guess? Heck we even have HC1 and HC2, 20 years younger and sprightly.. photos of HC2 vs HC1 here. ”Indian Express. Does Hillary Clinton have a lookalike? Conspiracy theories rule social media”.
I would add Chris Hedges he is amazing humanist. He is genuin contrary to Chomsky WHO in my opinion is more kind of technical intellectual.
PCR has been unhinged since property developers blocked access to the beach from his retirement home in Florida a couple of years ago. Boo hoo, the world is cruel.
Robv
You may be right but, I think it has more to do with being American. All of us are limited in our view of the world, via conditioning thru many cultural and national norms.
PCR is an American and he views the world and, how the world should be, as an American.
A few here (as well as the author) have criticised PCR because of his age. I think that’s a sad and lame argument to be honest.
PCR may be wrong but I don’t believe he is wrong because of senility like Brandon.
I was brought up to respect my Elders and now, I’ve become one. It’s a huge mistake from the younger generation of people to just reject older people’s opinions because of their elder age.
Age grants you far sightedness through experience and a bended knee. Sure there are foolish old people but they were more than likely fools when they were in their 30’s anyhow.
PCR may be wrong ( I think he is) but, I think he’s wrong because of his American-ness. His American view of the world.
He’s conditioned to believe that Wars should be fought in a certain way. An American, John Wayne, General Patton kind of way! As an American, he also seems to possess a general ignorance of Russian culture and history.
That last one seems rampant across the Political and social masses of the West. PCR is not alone there.
I agree with you man…ideology/cultural outlook not age. And I tended to be in his corner as well but Orloz is broad, comprehensive, logical and persuasive
Over the years PCR has donea lot of great economic work, given great clarifying and useful commentary that has taken us forward. I am no Reganite rightist but PCR outlook and analysis was never limited by Republicanism
As Orloz proves Putinism is way ahead of the old ways of war and yet I dont think PCR is too old to see understand and adjust. PCR is wrong and so was I but I cant beat up on personality who I found to be very positive and useful over the years
Thanks PCR
It’s not stupid. From the point of view of the goons in Washington, this slow roll invasions DOES make Russia look weak (to them). And the longer it goes on the more chance for them to conjure up cooky ideas. Roberts wasn’t writing from the perspective of Russians, but from the perspective of the Washington warmongering scum.
Absolutely! What gets us to armageddon is how the West interprets Russia’s actions. Regardless of how well founded and reasonable those actions are. The West clearly now believes that Russia is weak and can be taken. Regardless of the factual correctness of that belief its there. Jen Psaki even said, publicly, regarding the Russian warning on arming Ukraine, that the US will not heed Russian “empty threats”.
IMHO, its indisputably true that Western, elite, political class and public opinion now looks at Russia as a weak and washed up power that can’t even handle Ukraine. I live in the US and I’ve had numerous conversations with ordinary Americans and this is the opinion held by pretty much all of them. This represents a massive degradation of deterrence. When the Western public and political class no longer fear Russian power we are much closer to armageddon.
Whether the SMO could or should have been conducted differently is a separate question. I think the underlying reasoning for going in soft was good. However, I think the mistake was in preserving the Ukraine regime. It would have been possible for Russia to destroy the national and regional command and control, political and military, while preserving civilian life and infrastructure. Failure to do this was a blunder.
So, can Russia lose this war? Yes. Unpopular as this answer is in circles such as here, its true. Ukraine is simply one battle in a long war. Russia is fighting the collective West and this war will continue long after Russia has subdued the Ukrainian army and achieved its aims there.
And lets not forget that Russia is headed for its own internal political succession crisis in 2024. Will Russia be as well led after 2024 as it is today? This war will still be going on!
Sorry but you sound yourself a fading PCR.
I think ngoyo’s warning is well taken, even if you disagree with their premise. Isn’t it a Sun Tzu idea to never underestimate your enemy? Winning Ukraine for Russia (whatever that ends up meaning) isn’t certain. NATO could send forces through Poland. False flags. Miscommunication in the field. Sabotage. Unexpected enemy capabilities. All kinds of things that could derail the SMO.
Sounds like you fervently wish for that.. ignoring the warming cauldrons and steel mill..
Agreed, except with that Russia could lose the war. Russia has been very restrained. My only criticism of Russia is that it is looking for the west’s approval and constantly apologizing. Does the US ever apologize for its actions?
The USA doesn’t apologize for anything. Thats what makes it so dangerous. The lunatics in charge need a swift kick in the nuts to wake them up. I pray the Russians do pick up the pace in order that the west doesn’t have time to devise new fake “massacres” or other provocations.
Russia will achieve its objectives in Ukraine. What I mean is lose the real or larger war against the collective West, of which Ukraine is just one battle.
But having said that, it should also be said that Russia holds the most important cards today. But it also has some critical weaknesses which need to be addressed ASAP.
First the strengths:
– Far as I can tell, Russia is much stronger, militarily, in Europe than NATO. Therefore it will prevail in any land/air war in its vicinity.
– Russia’s economy is much more resilient than the collective West’s. Its basically unkillable.
– The Russian people are also the most resilient in Europe as far as I can tell and they are behind their leadership. Boris Johnson may speak of Putin having political problems, but it is he and his Western accomplices who face all kinds of dire political problems.
– Russia, in stark contrast to the collective West, is superbly well led. Putin is head, shoulders, knees and toes above the best leadership the collective West can offer (Macron?).
– Finally, Russia has China, and I believe India, firmly on her side.
These are some serious cards and they should assure victory. But then I detect a sense of complacency and even cockiness amongst, especially, emigre Russians writing the West. They are super sure of the coming collapse of the West and Russia’s inevitable victory. I don’t speak Russian so I don’t know to what extent such an attitude exists in Russia itself.
Russia does have some major structural weaknesses:
– IMHO the most important is the Russian elites overriding need to ingratiate itself to the collective West. No matter what the West does to Russia, the Russian elites want to go lick its boots and get a pat on the head. Even after all the sanctions and insults after the SMO started we still got the attempt by the Russian negotiators at Istanbul to potray the withdrawal of Russian forces from around Kiev as a concession to Ukraine and hence the West.
We still find prominent Russian thinkers writing in RT that room still exists for compromise with the West. Its clear that the Russian elites need just the slightest sign of false friendliness from the West to abandon the fight and start demanding that Russia make concessions.
-Then there is the Putin succession. Who is going to take over in 2024?. THere is not much time, the battle will be raging and there is still no sign of a clear successor. This is a major problem. Whoever takes over will be fairly weak at the outset. It won’t be easy to fill Putin’s shoes. This will leave an opening for the Pro West ‘Atlantic Integrationists’ to come roaring back.
There are many other problems, but none as important, IMHO, as these two. Puytin has played the game very skillfully but he needs a clear successor. Since the SMO started I have come to think that Medvedev may be the best option after 2024. But he has not been very popular or inspiring in Russia. He was also the one who gave us the Hilary Reset and the destruction of Libya.
Libya – Russia set a trap for NATO. The Libya intervention has been a disaster for the West and sadly Africa but it has opened a lot of eyes. Note the African countries that have refused to impose sanctions against Russia. They have not forgotten that the African Union that wanted to mediate the dispute was warned that the plane carrying it s negotiators could be shot down if it came ot Libya. Nelson Mandela stood by Khadaffi.
The armchair generals came out in force when Russia began its SMO & there is no shortage of them here on The Saker’s comments pages – & as for Paul Craig Roberts, Orlov is correct, who takes him seriously? He undermines himself with his own frustrations which come pouring off the page when reading his rather poisonous material. What Robert’s actually demonstrates is the level of both insanity & base stupidity in the American political class, not that we needed it – but what is insidious about his ramblings, as irrelevant as they may be – is that he plays a deception, or attempts to, pretending to wish Russia well, wish Russia victory, a speedy victory, he would quite happily see Russia destroyed, & much of the world with her. Instead of applying analytical scrutiny to events, & what limited information we have, say like Nightvision’s excellent sitreps, PCR is trying to add fuel to a burning fire. It is easy to do from a luxury beach condo in Florida or wherever the geezer lives, but it doesn’t help at all. PCR’s opinions mirror that of Russia’s 6th column, see Strelkov’s recent verbal sewage on the SMO & everything he believes is wrong with it – it is more or less what PCR is saying, as if they corresponded. It comes from the same mindset of those who would have you believe they wish Russia well & the Atlantic axis decisive defeat, whilst in actual fact they wish for destruction, for everyone.
You are very wrong.
Russian FM Lavrov said recently that after Ukraine is pacified, they intend for NATO to be dismantled and the creation of ‘a new Security Architecture in Europe, and a new global order submitting itself is to International law’. That implies that the Ukraine is only one part of a massive Russia/China strategic plan, carefully and methodically crafted since 2014, to take down the West’s so called ‘rules based international order,’ and that is the locus of US led Western Alliance’s dangerous power assumptions, the insistence on hegemonic domination and imperialism on steroids thereof.
Russia/China are in a symbiotic alliance they deliberately and cryptically refer to as a ‘Partnership with No Limits’. Nobody knows what this really implies in practise, leaving it for people to guess what that means by the actions the two powers take. Actions such as the Ukraine SMO, or the joint China/Russia public announcement regarding the creation of a new financial and trade order that doesn’t use the dollar, and the grim consequences for especially the US thereof. What will it then do? What is certain is that we are never going back to the pre-Ukraine war status quo ever again, reason for the terrified hysteria in Western elite circles including the media.
We are headed towards ‘very interesting times’ indeed, as the Chinese like to say.
“So, can Russia lose this war?”
Well, its nice that the US/NATO/EU thinks, or allowed to think that way. It actually tells us that Russia is doing well. Keep the enemy complacent. :)
Yes, your viewpoint correctly reflects perspectives. PCR is definitely not losing it. He speaks from the American perspective and the west’s ACTIONS confirm that. The west wants to cancel him because he sounds ‘pro-Russian’. However, he is thinking of survival and leaving an inhabitable planet for humanity. Dmitry will ‘ripen’ with a few more years.
Correction. I meant habitable not inhabitable.
Correct…
PCR understands the Dark State Beltway mentality. They only understand the back side of a 2 x 4 swung by an 800 lb. guerrilla. If you give them enough time they’ll come up with a way to dismantle/obfuscate Putin’s prudent (“Slav First”) well planned out campaign. Perhaps, NATO will be encouraged to launch its own preemptive nuke (dirty, suitcase or otherwise), of course blaming Putin, just to mix things up.
Yes, you’ve made my comment for me.
PCR understands the US, the NeoCons.
Very well said. i have been reading PCR for a decade already and I have seen that his main frustration with the Russian leadership and with Putin in first place, is that in his view, and in that of many of us, is he keeps believing that the people in power in the U.S. capital are intelligent, rational, sensible, when they are nothing more a bunch of reckless, criminally insane adventurers. For that reason they see the world as a place where the law of the wild reigns supreme and where people, nations, interact in only in two possible ways; either exerting raw power, usually by intimidation and then brute force.,.or suffering it as a victim. You want something from others, you threaten them and if they don’t give it to you, then you take it by force. They don’t know any other of interaction, by diplomacy, compromise, meeting the other side halfway, etc, that is what PCR has been saying for a decade that the Russian leadership cannot understand. That is why he thinks the rather cautious approach by Russia in Ukraine wont be perceived as proof of strength and intelligence by Washington but simply as a evidence of weakness and hesitation.
Now, that doesn’t mean he is saying that this has always been the case but certainly has been during the last two decades, ever since the neocons took power during the Clinton and GWB administrations.
I think your case for PCR is sound. Mr. Orlov makes a good rhetorical case contra, but is it warranted? PCR is known to like the epithet “insouciant.” Not adequately knowing the enemy might be qualify as such.
«with Putin in first place, is that in his view, and in that of many of us, is he keeps believing that the people in power in the U.S. capital are intelligent, rational, sensible, when they are nothing more a bunch of reckless, criminally insane adventurers»
V. Putin certainly believed that the USA government was “intelligent, rational, sensible” and he has in recent years realized his mistake:
https://www.bloombergquint.com/business/full-transcript-vladimir-putin-s-televised-address-to-russia-on-ukraine-feb-24
“Of course, practice, international relations and the rules regulating them had to take into account the changes that took place in the world and in the balance of forces. However, this should have been done professionally, smoothly, patiently, and with due regard and respect for the interests of all states and one’s own responsibility. Instead, we saw a state of euphoria created by the feeling of absolute superiority, a kind of modern absolutism, coupled with the low cultural standards and arrogance of those who formulated and pushed through decisions that suited only themselves. […] Sure, one often hears that politics is a dirty business. It could be, but it shouldn’t be as dirty as it is now, not to such an extent.”
My impression is that he was fooled by dealing with the minions, the bureaucratic professionals of the “deep state”; but USA policy is only executed by them, the decision makers are not them, they are the brutal-CEO and nasty-oligarch style players, people like Cheney or Austin, people with a mobster mindset.
Thanks Dmitry for beautiful summation of why Operation Z should be taken slow (the numbered paragraphs). I fully agree. However you are being unkind to Dr. PCR.
It is easy to disparage and “misunderestimate” PCR nowadays. He has his foibles and tics as do we all. He can appear positively unhinged too. But I have read him for over 20 years and see no signs of dementia or cognitive deterioration. I disagree with his current POV, but if you unpack it, it is lucid from a distinct American perspective.
He has been consistent. Hyperbole is the name of his game. ‘Time, tide and PCR wait for no man.’ His rhetorical style is an acquired taste. It is over the top grandiose. Never fails to make me smile! It reminds of a Southern preacher smacking his fat fist on the pulpit for emphasis. Not a forum for soy boys or the limp wristed! And the target is thunderously and directly addressed in near Puritan terms: “The Kremlin” “Evil” “The Biden Regime” “America” etc…
He understands aspects of America well, esp. his former colleagues the crazy neocons, which he sees as genocidally maniacal, having worked with them in the Swamp for decades. It is an end-stage macho culture which only responds to overwhelming force, staffed as it is by diminutive unimaginative hate-filled bureaucrats. Ergo, PCR tries to anticipate how to solve problems before the crazies can stick their toes in. Unfortunately, that means blowing things up.
So he over simplistically sees most issues as nails to be hammered down quickly. Perhaps his generation has a worthwhile perspective, seeing how things often got out of hand if the Sea Pirates were not periodically scared backwards. Sometimes it took banging on UN podiums with a shoe. The recent Sarmat test is also a tonic in this regard.
Clearly he is not as informed about military strategy or cultures distant from USA, especially the nuance between Ukrainians and Russians. We can ignore that advice. But he works on relating how to approach the Swamp forcefully in order to avert Armageddon, and this is worth heeding. That has been his overriding mission for years. And perhaps he does know and is callous for the greater good? In his youth, he likely knew old relatives who experienced Sherman’s marches through the South.. Perhaps from his calculation, losing 100k Ukie relatives quickly is preferable to 10s of millions even quicker in a nuclear exchange?
So in the crazy times in which we live, when some openly maneuver for first strikes and write white papers on the survivability of nuclear exchanges, thus lowering its threshold, his strident and seemingly mad solitary voice crying in the wilderness does carry import. PCR has been unfortunate to live long enough to track the coup d’état in the USA and rise to dominance of the crazies in the basement. Where MAD was discarded and nuclear war preparations are made today. It must torment him. And he knows “Washington’s control of the explanation” is critical to keeping numb the American sheeple from realizing they are being suicided by satanists in the greatest bloodletting in human history! And it is doubly galling the tiny numbers of the cabal forcing through this catastrophe. Hence his increasing railing against Russia to effect such violence and tempest as to shake up the hermetically sealed Lie Machine and its narrative control. You try everything at the end to avert the horror.
Well said! Thank you for articulating pretty much my own thoughts! Your quote below stands out for me, which is how I read PCR’s perspective on the Russia-Ukraine issue.
“Clearly he is not as informed about military strategy or cultures distant from USA, especially the nuance between Ukrainians and Russians. Perhaps from his calculation, losing 100k Ukie relatives quickly is preferable to 10s of millions even quicker in a nuclear exchange?”
Yes, he was born at a time that it’s pretty sure he had close relatives still living who experienced the immediate results of the US Civil War. Especially in Georgia of Sherman’s unnecessary burning and laying waste 100 miles wide on the way to the sea! Sherman and Grant laid foundation for modern warfare! The South did not begin to fully ecinomicall recover until after WW2 and by 1960 had recovered enough for USA economic considerations to export much of business to the low-labor union free South! By which time PCR had already had finished college or close to it. Sometime in or around the mid 60s, PCR did some kind studying in Russia for awhile, which changed his whole perspective on the Cold War. He suggests that in early of his writings. Anyhow, thank you for your well reasoned perspective.
To clear what I meant by PCR changing his whole perspective on the Cold War is that he came to appreciate the Russian people for who they are and for their long history! Not what he had been fed about Russia by the constant rhetoric in the 1950s by the McCarthy hearings! It must have been confusing to learn that Russia was an ally in WW2 to only in such a very few short years become the most feared of enemies!
I have been reading PCR for years, and over that time he has taught me much. Yes, he is strident at times. What could be the reason for that?
I think he correctly sees Russia as the last, only hope for driving the stake through the heart of the evil American Zionist empire. Put this in perspective… What happens if Russia is “defeated” with all this implies, and the US gets its way? Russia will no longer be a cohesive and positive force in the world, no longer a role model for other non-western countries, no longer a powerful partner to China. There will be nothing to stand against the Hegemon, and we will see it run riot just as it did after the fall of the USSR. Russia will be broken up perhaps, and its resources will be plundered by the empire. Will China be able to stand alone against the US Zionists without a strong Russia?
So PCR has a lifetime of watching the Empire peddle its lies, destruction, and death under the guise of spreading freedom and democracy; it is transparent to him. He must shiver when he sees Russia act as if it believes the West can be trusted, that the West are “partners,” when in reality they only lie and destroy, and thereby Russia potentially opens itself to destruction from the Empire.
He must feel as if Russia is not learning from history and is walking into its own destruction, and for him there is nothing left to oppose the empire if Russia is destroyed.
Panic sets in, he is another Cassandra.
My own feeling is similar, in the sense that a very firm and cold approach may be what is needed. God knows, the loss of any life is a terrible loss. But when you are fighting for your survival…..
The Empire is a old tiger that cannot change its very well known stripes.
@LordBaldric – my exact thoughts.
Excellent analysis by Orlov, and perhaps the dismissive tone taken to sharpen his point. However, how do the Americans see it through their shock-and-awe style and “bombs bursting in air” Hollywood upbringing?
Still, I believe how Putin does this is as important as what he achieves. The means are as important as the end. He is doing this the right way and way smarter and with cool-headed planning than I imagined.
@ngoyo
You forgot the fact that VVP can stay in power for another 14 years according to the Russian Constitution.
Also, its the Russian National Security Council that runs the show in Russia, and not the Atlantic integrationists.
Quite true. But my sense is that he does not want to stay beyond 2024. He may “have” to stay anyway because I believe this War , the war with the West will last to the early 2030’s so about 10 yrs. THats my guess. Still how effective will he be later on? I grew up in a country where the leader was around for over 25yrs. Its difficult towards the end they start to slip and falter. It would be best if they could find a young “Putin” and keep the elder around as a guide. It would be best not just for Russia but also for the world.
You know Dmitry…there is always the khazar theory. Ya know, the crazies in the basement.
Which is what it is, on so many fields, but it lacks crazy.
It has plenty of that.
For some reason yaall shy away…wonder why…
As for PCR – he is an accountant. Let him be will ya? From now on?
Why I stand up for him, cos he is precise.
Not a politico though. Never had the baallz…methinx.
He was not any of the financial mercenaries back when…
Agreed?
Tengo tiempo que lo he visto ecribir cosas bastante extrañas. Tambien vive aterrado por ser blanco.
“There are times that I’ve seen him write quite strange things. He also lives terrified of being white.”
LOL.
I agree with that and with a lot of other commenters — his recent articles have made me think he’s just counting too much on the official narrative, which is surprising but what can we say!
It doesn’t sound like he has much background about various aspects of the situation which no doubt absolutely required more time to reach the right level of fruition.
Nice choice of Lithuania, if only in jest, it seems to be going out of its way to be as obnoxious as possible to Russia, Belarus and China.
The reason for Lithuania is very obvious, to connect Kaliningrad!
Yes, of course, at least through Belarus.
Hey there Mister Orlov.
I’ve sent PhD Roberts a few emails suggesting that he get himself on RT/Valdai/NEO/CGTN to discuss Economics/GeoPolitics.
He needs to talk with Russian Philosophers Econ/GeoPolitical/Military DIRECTLY. Compared to PhD Michael Hudson, PCR seems to be too isolated at home.
He knows Murica are Fail-Stating and will see a miserable Society his Children+Grandchildren will have to Live In as he leaves his Mortal Coil in Murica
Very Depressing.
His Blog Post Today 22APR2022CE was pretty interesting. He bemoaned the End Times of Murica as the Open Borders Policies have allowed for Runaway Illegal Immigration.
He’s correct but too Late; and most Muricans are too Powerless/Disorganized to adjust to this situation.
I checked a few Reports – 2021 had roughly 2.1+Million (soon to be reproducing) Illegal Aliens, 1.4+Million Non-White Births – making for 3.5+Million Non-Whites Birthed/Entering Versus 1.9+Million White Births. Roughly 87% more – with Illegal Immigrants mostly maturing/mating/reproducing/pregnant within a few years upon Entry.
I’m for Legal Immigration – my Mother being Naturalized. Illegal Immigration Fuel the Various Criminal Trafficking Schemes. However, Offshoring pretty much made Murica unable to sustain enough jobs to support the Domestic Economy.
Murica have already past through a Demographics Inflexion Point of No Return (Too Late, PhD Roberts); and are about to Enter a “Reproductive” Inflexion Point of No Return – where in within 15-20 Years, Illegal Immigration will fuel Hispanics to “OutBirth” Whites, then “Whites AND Blacks” shortly afterwards.
My Mother and I are from the Far East – she’s outlived all her In-Laws by Decades, so once I’m free from this Masonic-Catholic-Jewish-Cult-Racket Called Murica, I’m leaving for Home with Ms Daisy – possibly doing business in the Far East and Russia (Europe just became Off Limits).
Best regards,
lol… you are witty with your writing. Yup, karma’s a bitch! ‘Murica’ wiped out the ‘Indians’. Now they are wiping themselves out.
European leadership is reckless and told this brings great rewards. Soul’s not being in fashion the clockwork automatons who govern and decide with the consent of the governed pawns everything else instead for Military Glory. To do what Napoleon could not!

To understand how to make the current American mental biscuit, I would give the following recipe…
1 cup flour from ground from highly refined vanity sold by Fox News
3 tablespoons soda of misdirection from MSNBC
1 teaspoon ignorant salt from public education institutions
Once baked, remove biscuits from oven and slather them liberally with margarine of hydrogenated big pharma oil, so to make sure the blood vessels of the biscuit eater in the brain are fittingly stopped up – if they were not already before…

Just have turned on the bake cycle. Not one kidding. Overflow.

@Buratino…
Love your reply!
I am a pureblood.
I have known of the pandemic at about the end of January of 2010.
I have understood the nature of it at about April.
Hey Martin!
As long as you don’t put sugar in your cornbread!
My Arkansas mother said that’s why the civil war was fought, is because Yankees DID do that.
Ohh…well…gonna have to try that one Sugar…
`cos aint got any trouble out of that yet…
BTW…f the Yankkee…and sum….😉
We are talkin the same ol carpet baggers no…what has changed?
Aint over yet…
Cornbread…no rise ye?
@Anna…
God bless your mama, Girl, but, the reason why the War Between The States was fought is the same reason why the war in Ukraine is being fought – Yankees can’t mind their own business – gotta tell everybody what to do and how to be.
Vladimir Putin is Nathan Bedford Forrest, with a whole lot more cannon.
Be well!
Haven’t thought about it like that, but, I think you are onto something! I don’t know who said it, but, I first heard it from Walker Percy, “…the winners of wars get to write the history!”
@ALP…
Thank you, Sir.
And not only do the ‘winners of war’ get to write history, they get to write your community, which is why you must fight wars to protect your people.
Wars are a positive good, when defending yourself.
This is something many in The West fail to realize about what Russia is doing in Ukraine.
Dmitry, Unfortunately, Roberts is right in one thing. The US and Russia have very different cultures. What Russians do in Ukraine is misinterpreted by the American leadership class as weakness. The US thinks that they are winning the “chicken out” game. This does have inherent dangers in escalating the conflict. America is not lead by competent people these days. Otherwise they would have never sanctioned the Russian Central Bank.
Hence the heightened alert status of Russia’s nuclear forces. I know for a fact that the politicos and the boys in the Pentagon noticed that. The only real threat the Empire poses militarily these days is nuclear, and that’s a one bite of the apple, winner take all gamble, where “winning” will be defined by who loses least. Putin rightly assesses they don’t have the stones for that.
The sheer stupidity of the West’s leadership is a grave danger to the world. The East i.e. Russia, China, India is very well led. Unfortunately the fools in Washington, London, Paris and Brussels may just blunder into armagedon.
@Mr. Milan…
With respect, Mr. Roberts is not right about America and Russia having very different cultures.
As a Rural Southerner, who has had lifetime Russian contacts and dear friends, I can tell you that The South and the remanifestation of czarist Russia, under Putin, have a lot in common.
What, you ask?
A belief in tradition, manners, history, Christianity, friendship, and decency, but, like Russians, we have a lot of self-destructive people, liberal scalawags concentrated in our cities, and frustration with our economy.
America is not a monolithic culture, and Mr. Roberts, surely a Yankee, is speaking as if it were.
It ain’t.
All the best to you and yours!
PCRoberts was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia! There’s very good chance that his US ancestry is completely Southern from before the American Revolution! He had been Republican until the Bush 43 Administration, when he left the Republican Party and became an Independent, which he has been ever since.
I’ll take my cornbread made with white meal and no sugar, please!
@Martin Gretzig Paul Craig Roberts is a born Southerner, and he is very conservative. He was born in 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia. He has written a lot about the old south. However, the US is currently not run by conservative Christian Southerners.
I think this is an important point because have been getting the feeling that although on the one hand financial divorce between Russia and West will help isolate the West and undermine USD hegemony etc., on the other hand if the West goes into serious decline which for whatever reason the current US administration is clearly bent on accelerating as much as humanly possible right now then it might have a chance at returning to sanity – the lack of which right now is what is so irking the irascible but splendid PCR – after which a rapprochement between East (Russia et alia) and West Europe would be a truly great thing, moreover one which will ensure that the Euro part of Eurasia will play a leading role in the newly emerging Eurasian civilization thus preventing it from being overly dominated by China.
I don’t see the problem here. If the American leadership belives they are winning, and see weakness … that is a good thing. You want to keep the incompetent in position, not have a shakeup and replacement by competent people. They surely do exist somewhere.
Thank you for writing this! Some of his recent articles really made my blood boil, and there was nowhere to comment to vent my anger lol.
I always find Orlov’s writings and views refreshingly realistic. Roberts isn’t totally wrong. He is right that the Russian National Bank should take more realistic attitudes to defend the economy against the economic warfare of the Nato regimes. I also find it unlikely that Russia will invade Finland.
Wonderful tidbit on the history of the Ukraine and Russia. When some Americans speak of Russia in a negative tone, I tell them that Kiev was the capital city of the Russian kingdom. They give me a look as if I have 3 eyes. So I just move on with people like that. During quiet times during the day, and everyday when this operation started, I pray to the Good Lord that may bestow to Russia the success of her endeavor and bestow health and well being to her people. To Dmitry , I say spaSEEbah!!!
The only people actually trying to help the Ukrainian people these days are Vladimir Putin, and the Russian military.
I had a bad feeling when I read that fishy PCR article and the best I could do was forget it immediately. Mr. Orlov’s weigh-in explained and clarified why.
The author misconstrues thesis.
The author needs to understand that what is happening in the West was actually done TO the West.
We were conquered and those conquerors have turned their eye upon Russia and openly desire that the war esculate into ever more Brothers killing Brothers.
The longer the conflict in Ukraine lasts the greater the chance those Evil Satan worshippers lording over the West get to have their way.
You have me.
I am mourning for my brothers dead.
and praying for the ones still alive and proud…(payer_hands)
“The longer the conflict in Ukraine lasts the greater the chance those Evil Satan worshippers lording over the West get to have their way.”
–You are saying Satan will win? Really?
Děkuji, opět výborné. Karel

Thank you, again excellent. Karel
I would say there is today another victory over the West. After several months of the US/EU whining how they were going to cut off from Russian energy. Now today the US all of a sudden announces that the EU shouldn’t stop buying Russian energy. And right after that the EU “suddenly” is saying that buying Russian energy with Rubles is OK after all. Proving two things that we really already knew. That all the US has to do is say jump and the EU does it. And that the EU always knew they needed Russian energy and just needed the US to tell them it was OK for them to have it:
US warns against Russian energy ban
https://www.rt.com/business/554334-us-europe-russian-energy-ban/
EU changes tune on ruble gas payments
https://www.rt.com/business/554343-eu-ruble-gas-payments/
well…You can not manufacture weapons without the ingredients and the the energy required…while the sheep is cold and hungry…can ya?
I don’t appreciate this article at all. I highly respect Paul Craig Roberts and am always interested in his opinion on world affairs. For many years his writings have helped me to make sense of it all when no one else could. Disagree with him if you want, but don’t disrespect him.
Totally agree Roger. There should be a bit more respect for him. he is not a mere nobody, even at his advanced age (has more brain power and cognitive attention than people 50 years younger than him). He was a – nay – THE lone high profile voice in the collective West supporting Russia and defending her. He sees Russia differently than the Establishment and neocons do, and actually cares what happens to it. People err thinking that because that is so, he can reason and feel like a Russian. It is not surprising that he would panic that neocons see Russian mode of warfare as “weakness” and reconsiders that maybe Russia should have gone in hard and fast (or faster), because all the neocons and liberal interventionists know and understand is force. Nothing will rattle them unless they see there is something superior if not equal to them. And he is right regarding the Anglo/Zionist, Zone A, collective West mindset – their hubris has them thinking they are invincible, act with impunity (who can convict us?) and ruthless with no bounds. A hubris that can lead to nuclear confrontation.
That is his opinion. Only that. You and I can see where he is coming from, and the hubristic Establishment enemy he exposes and is constantly critical of.
It is one thing I really respect in Mr. Putin. He is unfailingly self-controlled and refers to his opposite numbers as his partners even when they lie outrageously and try to humiliate him.
This circumspection and politeness even to enemies is not weakness at all, but a sign of a superior character.
Failure or victory is not fully in one’s own hands. But how one fails or wins certainly is.
Respect to the Russian leader. His partisans could take some lessons from him.
Dmitry Orlov,
I have massive respect for you, and I have bought one of your books, but never contributed to your very interesting works and art including Quidnon (how’s it going). I do now, have some real interest in Sailng, though it was always in my family going back to North Western France over 500 years ago, wnen they chucked my family out. The fact that we ended up, in North East Yorkshire, England, was almost certainly down to the direction of the wind. It could easily have been Ireland, or America.
I also have massive respect for Paul Craig Roberts. As Americans go, considering
he is incredibly old, with a working brain – probably not quite the same IQ as yours.(“I used to think highly of Roberts, but now he is just another confused old man”) I have not bought his book, but compared to the American competition, I think he is pretty good. He has got more braincells than the whole of The CIA put together. I have no idea if he’s ever been to Russia.
I was brought up a Roman Catholic – Altar boy, but gave it up at 15, as did my now wife.
We all still got loads of Easter eggs last weekend, especially my lad (now Captain)..how many girlfriends has he got?
For some obscure reason, which I do not understand, it seems highly unlikely that Jesus Christ, would turn up in England, a week before Russia, and I can’t possibly imagine him, unlike both you and The Saker going to the USA. Paul Craig Roberts was born in the USA. Unlike me you two chose to move to the USA. I’ve never even visited. My son told what Americans were like after 2 weeks at a Scout camp in the Year 2000, when he was 12 years old. A bit like sending a 12 year old English kid to Nazi Germany in 1936. Preparing for war, when there was no war, nor even threat of war.
Happy Easter

Tony
As you cannot be a little bit pregnant you cannot also be a little bit in a war, it’s either all or nothing. If give your troops confusing messages is will get them killed.
Yes look after the non-combatants when you can but as a soldier your job is to keep alive and kill the enemy.
Armies are trained killers for state objectives, you do not clip the wings of a hawk if you want it to catch prey for you.
I have read that NATO weapons stocks are being depleted at a much higher rate than they can be produced, so the operation taking longer just means more of NATO’s capability to fight Russia is depleted.
PCR is not the only formerly intelligent, rational person to suffer impaired cognitive ability. Nassim Nicholas Taleb has also suffered some sort of breakdown, even so far as going against some of the good advise presented in his earlier books. I include this link, not as a recommendation, but only for reference as to what is going on with some formerly rational people: https://medium.com/incerto/a-clash-of-two-systems-47009e9715e2
How do you know that PCR has suffered impaired cognitive ability? Are you a medical doctor?
NNT is such a huge disappointment. I sometimes wonder if he isn’t dead and has been replaced by a look-alike. His behaviour is exactly the opposite of everything he ever wrote!
I think that is going a bit far but clearly of late in his writings he is increasingly disturbed by what he sees as the flagrant destruction of his country with its culture and civilization and clearly upset by the inability of nearly everyone to perceive this clearly. It is the latter which is driving him a little mad, I think, and I sympathize with him greatly. My mother is his age and also an American and I feel deeply for the distress she must be feeling at watching her country descend into collective madness.
His passion is sounding an alarm and I think he is deliberately spreading it on a bit thick in order to try to wake people up. The Republicans, for example, or rather most mainstream conservative politicians, have a tradition of always playing by the rules, always being polite which also involves always using wishy-washy platitudinous verbiage, something which I think at this point is making PCR want to tear what little hair he has left out.
He is an American Citizen Emeritus. His cries deserve more attention from his countrymen which is to whom his words are addressed.
OK, I will admit to going a bit far with PCR.
I think it is actually Taleb who has gone completely off the deep end, so to speak. In one his books he laid out how the most intolerant win, by pressuring the more tolerant to adapt to/accept their position. That explains perfectly how a small minority of NAZIs could essentially take over a country, as happened in Ukraine. So with a perfect example of his thesis staring him in the face, he thinks Russia is the bad guy. It is confirmed in his mind by hobnobbing with Zelinski, whom the people elected on a platform of peace and good relations with Russia, but who filled the military with NAZIs after being threatened by them if he did not do what they wanted (according to reports I have read that make sense, as far as what has happened).
Roberts means well. But I agree with you, Mr. Saker. He sees the problem but he does not understand the solutions.
I’d love to see a discussion of the sinking of the Moskva which appears to have been 90% US Navy with the Ukrainians firing the missile. By doing that the US and NATO directly committed an act of war on Russia’s navy.
How is the Kremlin likely to respond? My best guess is that Mr. Putin prefers to serve revenge cold. So Russia will not admit it was done by a.pair of antiship missiles, this not granting the perpetrators the joy of acknowledging it.
But, some time after Moskva has been long forgotten in the Western MSM, revenge will be served in equal if not double measure.
You are asking the correct questions.
WE
WE have been saying…and please, do not let me into this precious club, that the surface Navy is obsolete.
These large ships – including the carriers(groups) ARE indefensible.
I do not know what has happened. Noone would tell me.
Smaller missile crusiers(subs) are the thang methinx. with all the bells and whistles against self guiding munitions.
that one…I do not want to be there, when the Navy points a finger…
They will.
What did you think?
The Navy will just say – ok then?
Ye?
I got news for ya.
Too many people are prone to rushing to conclusions while we’re in the midst of sweeping geopolitical changes that will determine the cause of this century.
It’s not the first (not the last, I suspect) time I hear similar logic applies to the Ukraine content to the one PCR uses, ie, ‘Russia should’ve defeated’ the Ukraine in a matter of days.’ You don’t have to be a military expert to notice the problem with such a line of thinking.
Anyway, I concur with Dmitry. As we watch the West descend into madness and cancel Russian writers and composers, Russia and China are working on building an alternative to West-dominated global financial system. The volume of trade between China and Russia is growing by the day, while countries such as India, Indonesia, Mexico, Egypt, South Africa, that is, the countries that account for a significant chunk of world’s population, human potential and natural resources openly refuse to join the Crusade against Russia and criticize the sanctions. Look at the leaders of major Western power: a senile, air-grasping ‘leader of the Free world’ in the White House, a buffoon with a funky haircut BoJo, and a sly little rooster, bankster’s pet Macron. Does that instill confidence in anyone? Is this the mighty civilization that produced statesmen such as Churchill (despite of what you may think of him) and De Gaulle?
History is a process, driven forward by events and personalities that influence them. The old world won’t disappear over the night, and neither will the West, but Russia has taken a major step to help this fallen civilization to finally retire and stop tormenting the world with its hubris.
With all due respect to PCR, I think he is frustrated and angry with what he sees as miscalculations on Russia’s part. He writes well and is, for the most part “on the money”.
On the other hand, I’m hoping Putin really is a much better chess player and will beat down this US arrogant and destructive method of global politics.
Kudos to both Orlov and Roberts for having the sense to see truths that seem to elude the western masses.
+Beeboy
I concur with your assessment on PCR. There was never a more open higher profile supporter of Russian cause in the USA than PCR among “conservative” circles. Frustration can lead to miscommunication though. His POV will always be American (can’t expect him to reason and feel like a Russian) and his endgame world peace, an endgame derrailed and twarted in his eyes by neocons and Anglo/Zionist apparatchiks (who, by the way unconcerned with the auto demolition of the old USA with replacement immigration, social marxism, tecnocratic tyranny, and deindustialization and possibly balkanization).
I think that Paul Craig Roberts better understands American mind then Mr. Orlov who is not American.
Russian approach in Ukraine is perceived as weakness in the West and in the Eastern Europe.
This soft and careful approach only stimulates aggressive steps from the side of USA and NATO.
The West, specially the educated West respects only brute force.
The only Russian politician ever respected by the West was Stalin.
I agree. And no doubts, Stalin was the only soviet politician respected by the West. But present russian leaders cant be compared with Stalin.
Here is an article on the status of the oligarchs from russia
https://www.theoccidentalobserver.net/2022/04/22/twilight-of-the-oligarchs/
The attitudes of many making comments here need adjusting. Firstly, those of you hoping that many who are fighting for Ukraine will be mercilessly destroyed is wrong and sinful. Yes, it’s okay to pray that righteousness overcomes evil and that the innocent be spared. However, that does not include praying that men you regard as your enemy be killed. Whatever happened to praying for your enemies and giving them a cup of cold water? Did that command from Jesus suddenly disappear from your thinking? And, who gives you the right to disrespect men with whom you disagree? This is an attitude that needs to be corrected. We all ought to treat others as we want to be treated. PCR is a good man who believes in God and Jesus as the Christ. That alone makes him worthy of respect. If I get banned for saying that, then so be it.
By not destroying Ukraine in a few days, Russia has made it easier for the USA to convince the western public that Russia is weak. But the reasons that Dimitry states for Russia’s current pace of war outweighs this fact.
Only if Russia does not succeed in denazifying and demilitarizing Ukraine will I criticize their decisions.
Paul Craig Roberts is absolutely correct that Russian oligarchs play a very negative role in Russia. I have never heard any Russia analyst (Saker, Moon, Andrei Martyanov) talk about the negative role of Russian oligarchs in Russia.
I am with You my Brother.
The evils that go on as we speak are beyond…
Yet…the evils, that go unanswered we can not let be.
I feel Your pain.
From the outside looking in, PCR is just doing the same old Blame Russia thing.
We (the US) is so nasty, because Russia is too soft. It’s just blaming Russia wrapped in a different tortilla. Its all Russia’s fault – this kind of reasoning says. Fighting his political fight on Russia’s back.
In general, this is my observation. The US, the people have been accustomed to blame someone else. They blame everybody. I mean I can make a list but there are just so many ‘New World Order’ personalities or hidden personalities or secret cabal systems that can be blamed.
The US and its people must existentially get to grips with what it has perpetrated on our earth and decide honestly on what their own part is or was in the carnage. It is so strange, I’ve traveled a lot, and it is only the Americans that introduce themselves as Americans. ‘I am so and so and I’m American’. The rest of us? That stuff comes later – we just simply introduce ourselves.
That last paragraph encapsulates it perfectly. PCR – and I LOVE reading PCR for the drama – is first and foremost an American, and so he flies his freak flag biases loud and proud. But you’re entirely right about the blame game. We Americans have evolved in a cocoon of our own design; fully and intentionally insulating ourselves from the effects of our government’s rapacious behavior the world over since at least the end of WWII, while luxuriating in the many benefits it provides. That has conditioned us to blame everyone else for the ills of the world, for how could it not be? That kind of stuff simply doesn’t happen here now, does it? Oh shit! OOPS, now it does, just like everywhere else. Oh shit! Who do we blame now? I know, I know! It MUST BE those damn Russians!
you DO understand, that your civil rights movement, george floyd, lgbtqwhatever feminism crt means nothing to us do you?
NOTHING?
at all?
Got it`?
Purple hair…eh…I guess…
Speaking while green haired…ya got an opposite view, which you soon learn to respect.
I am about to become a bolshevik. Look it up.
eh…what gives?
LOL! That stuff means nothing to most of us over here as well. But our wonderful mass media sure likes to tell us all that it does.
Exactly, Amarynth.
What, is Russia supposed to wage a war in a fashion to pander to US “public opinion”?
What crap. Russia is doing what they have to do. If “America” perceives it as “weak”, screw ’em.
I think the unde lyingfrustration many people have have with Russia’s conduct of this war is not how soft they went in but that they have not presented the West with a fait accompli. Many people express this the only way they know i.e Russia should have engaged in ‘shock and awe’.
I’ve to come see the conduct of the war as being both right and wrong. THe right part was going in soft as far as civilians and infrastructure is concerned. This for all the reasons Dmitry Orlov stated in the post.
The wrong part was going in soft as far as the Zelensky regime was concerned. Had the Russians put Zelensky under direct pressure by destroying the key parts of his regime, the military command, SBU, interior ministry, government communications, transportation etc right at the outset, it would have demoralized the West and created a fait accompli, forcing them to back off.
my 2cts.
“…the people have been accustomed to blame someone else. They blame everybody.”
I’ve only met American tourists (not travellers) and this and your quote, “I am so and so and I’m American” was definitely on the money. If the ‘people’ was a person, one could surmise that it was a case of Narcissistic Personality Disorder – same here in Ukania. The 2020-21 narrative fed off the same national traits and continuues to do so. Reminds me of the joke, ‘what is the most popular canadian w(h)ine?’
“I’m not an american!” Unfortunately the same cannot be said about their government….
For as long as America and its vassals wish to pour weapons and money into the Ukraine; Russia should accommodate them. NATO war stock levels have already been significantly depleted.
When the futility of it finally dawns on them, they will wash their hands of the Ukraine. Articles will appear offering comforting excuses, Ukrainian mishandling, black marketing etc.
IMO, Ukraine will, at least for the most part, be reincorporated into Russia and Belarus will follow(more peacefully) soon after.
Yes Russia needed decisive and fast victory. It didn’t go this way because of traitors on the inside. Any attempts to say that it is better the way it is are just wishful thinking. And the fact that the West became emboldened by that does bring as closer to nuclear war.
Your assessment makes the most sense! I, too, think that Putin, as sharp as he is, he is not monolithic! And as a real leader, he does not micromanage implementation, he delegates that to those appointed someone(s) along the way who have his confidence. Whether in ignorance, or on purpose, I certainly cannot say, but, some of those implementations appear not to be in Russia’s best interest. Either way, Putin is not going to publicly voice concern. He does not see this as any kind of PR offensive, unlike the West! My concern is that once Putin no longer leads, what will happen!
Must agree with most everything you say. I also at one time respect Roberts, but, as you accurately point out. he has gotten old and from his ramblings, I believe a tad demented.
As you note, he should of hung it up while his critical thinking skills were still in tact. I will always respect the “old” Roberts, as he made a career of speaking truth to power… alas, those days seems to be gone
Not that I was particularly interested, if it was Pepe Escobar, then that would be another matter – or even Linh Dinh being disappeared.
However the Saker’s Message (I accept that it is Easter Saturday and he is probably playing with his wife and kids)
still says
“Russia Today Report Disappearance of Gonzalo Lira”
Maybe all the prayers have been answered.
I am fairly certain, that Gonzalo Lira was alive and well, within the last 24 hours, cos I saw a bit of two live streams, though apart from a second, turned the camera off, for the second one..but it was definitely him.
From memory, he said, he had been arrested by the SBU, and released after 7 days. He wasn’t allowed to say anything much more than hello, I’m fine.

I am indeed surprised that Gospodin Orlov took so long to discover Dear Robert’s delusional nature, but of course glad that he has done. Roberts revered Ray-gun as some sort of celestial figure of wisdom, and continues to do so. The objective reality was that the Great President was a fool. Avuncular, idiotic, and a stooge for the dark forces. See, for example, “The Man Who Sold the World: Ronald Reagan and the Betrayal of Main Street America” (Kleinknecht). The people who were socially acquainted with “the great man” laughed out loud when the “actress” wife (see Kitty Kelly’s bio of the esteemed “lady”!) broached the idea at a ladies tea that “Ronnie” might “run for governor”. In short, Dear Mr Roberts was and remains deeply delusional in some, perhaps many, matters. I thought this was self-evident long ago.
i haven’t looked a t Paul Craig Roberts post in years. i remember him as one of the American who, seemed to be appalled by the events of 2014, to wit, the coup. I have no idea where or what sources his information come from but i think, especially WRT Russia he doesn’t look too far. I don’ speak Russian and unfortunately i don’t have any family who do, but even I can find some Russian sources and I have been following the exodus of Russian 5th columnist liberals from country including some of its pillars, people Like Chubais and Elena Bubinas, and the engineers at Yandex, and so on .Its not a small phenomenon. ..and that is just one example. He’s bitching about a situation that doesn’t quite exist the way he imagines it.The Liberals are fleeing the country. The rest will flee or they will change their stripes. Pres. Putin has said publicly that a “coliision” in inevitable.
Craig Roberts is just very exasperated with his government, rightfully so. He wants quick solutions so he can start enjoying his life again. Good luck with that.
Whether PCR’s fears are prescriptive or not depends on who prevails in the U.S. – the politicians or the pentagon. The former are doing virtually everything upside down and backward while the latter are serving as a sane, restraining force.
It seems to be PCR’s opinion that too much is on the line to simply sit back and see who can win out consistently.
Aye Dmitry, I too wonder if PCR likes genocides.
With due respect to Roberts, when it comes to Russia vs the US/West, he’s becoming quite hard to please. Nothing Russia does satisfies him — it’s either short, off the mark, or ineffective.
In a sense he sounds like a Russian 6th columnist; the difference being his target isn’t the Russian leadership. His problem is not Russia but America. I detect something deep, animus, a psychological need — stemming from disappointment, disillusionment with his country, perhaps revenge — to see the US punished. Presently it is Russia that’s doing the damage of course but I can see PCR writing the same thing even if it were another country that is taking up the fight against the US.
People keep comparing events in Ukraine/Russia to the cold war, as in “Cold War II”, cold war itself being compared to WWII, I think it’s much more about Russian Civil War II (1917-1924).
There is some surgery going on. Anesthetics are scarce.
Ukraine is of course part of Russia and be back to its bosom once the fascist tumor has been removed.
Good night.
We read PCR’s website for years. But it was when he zeroed in on the US “cancel culture issues” that he tended to lose respect for him.
Yes, he made commendable remarks about these fads that purposely propagandize citizens to divide and engineer conflict here. But he spent far too long perseverating on these issues. Good common sense told us long ago, that these gender/cultural issues are inspired to rack in profits via Big Tech, or the commercialization of those products they were selling to largely uneducated Americans.
Moreover, PCR is not an expert on social movements, or anything even touching upon such issues. He’s an economist, and should have stuck to his expertise. But he didn’t. He stopped writing about the incredible criminality going on in the US Financial/Banking/Real Estate world. Perhaps he has/had stocks in some of those multi-billionaire entities that caused him to swerve into other common issues of the day.
Then he started in on Russia. Pardon us, but his background has never been in studying Russian history, it’s culture, its literary achievements and its current geo-politics. After all, he’s an economist.
We wholeheartedly agree that PCR has been deeply hurt in watching America’s decline. He used to write about living in the South with a Black maid who never complained about her lowly services to the family. Really? He knew of no racial tensions in his town at the time. Really? It begs the question: just how conventional his mother & father were that they would put such blinders on themselves and their children?
We are younger than PCR, and yes, we have witnessed how Big money has ravaged our beautiful land via real estate billionaires and via the corporate, banking world. We, too, have seen an immense degradation with multiple millions of citizens who have no foresight, hindsight and with a barely perceptible understanding of how this country is in the current very miserable state it is in now.
But we don’t stew over these miserable conditions. Instead, we try to forge ahead in studying world history, European and some Russian history. (if only we knew more. :) We study ancient and pre-modern archeology, languages, and cultural norms; how the Muslim world flowered during the Abbassid dynasty, and the inevitable friction between it and Western European Christianity.
The point of this is, when you have only one life to live on this planet, we don’t believe God wants us to grow bitter and lonely. Keep learning, keep reaching out to other people and count each of your blessings, even during the darkest hours of our souls.
I don’t think Russia should have gone hard to destroy Ukraine but we all admit that they went soft for a reason. It’s because they had hoped the people were more awake, but instead they found out what 8 + years of propaganda can do. Ukraine used to be part of Russia except for that piece that became part of the Soviets in right after WW2. Should they have gone harder? maybe they would have won. Things are now at volume 7 but they started at volume 2. Perhaps it was a risk they had to take. It paid well in Crimea after all.
If we follow PCR’s overall work on this topic it’s clear that what he is saying is that Russia has been way too passive over the years and that Russia still wants to be accepted by the West which will be to its detriment. While Russia’s action in Ukraine is justified, PCR suggests, rightly so, that Russia should have taken action earlier. In short, Russia has not be decisive with the West and, with the “go slow” approach in Ukraine (which may or may not be the right approach), the perception is that Russia is not fully committed or capable. In other words, I think PCR is saying that this Ukraine response could have finally told the West to back-off, yet it’s been perceived as weak – as is allowing equipment to flow into Ukraine (which seems contrary to Putin’s threat to other countries not to interfere). PCR’s premise is that the West will continue to push Russia and, at some point, this will lead to a nuclear war. Now, maybe the long game is the right game. But, to the West, the longer this goes on, the weaker they will view Russia and the more they will intervene to hurt Russia.
Beware of those presenting academic credentials from the State of Virginia, the motherland of the intelligence services. Those universities are known recruiting grounds.
Be especially aware of those who rise to high levels in the captured “US Government” and later became “converts to the truth,” “whistleblowers” and the like.
Mr Roberts satisfys both. If you choose to just assume that he-or any other “former” intelligence services, military, or government official-speaks honestly and without assignment or agenda, do so at your own peril.
Often the disinformation strategy is so sophisticated its difficult even to perceive. Such sophisticated operations are aimed at a particular audience not likely to be “reached” or “penetrated” using a different approach.
“The thesis that “Russia’s failure to quickly destroy the Ukraine raises the likelihood of nuclear war” is… I am grasping for a word here… stupid.”
His thesis I think is more that Russia should have taken over the whole country and held it, not capture and release cities. I think he is saying Russia should take Ukraine rather than “liberate” it. Because once Russia leaves, NATO just comes back in and starts over.
But when that happens, maybe NATO floods Ukraine (and via it Russia) with blacks so that in 40 years Russiand learn that racism being bad is only antiwhite hatred the Jews use to black out white societies.
Cultural Ethnocentricity is difficult to beat.
PCR is just born and bred American, and views war and the Ukraine as an American – respectively lacking in rules, and as an opponent of Russia. Likewise, FSB officers also projected too much regarding Ukrainians in the Russian sense of strayed brotherhood.
I would feel more comfortable if point 3 was stated as a slow reaction of Europeans to the realization of their own needs (we lost touch with the physical world).
Thanks once more for your boldness and knowledge. If the text seems too short, its because the original larger version vanished in the middle of typing.
Hi Dimitri – really good article – so easily readable – never an excess of words. Thanks for that. I find it hard reading on the screen – some writers just have a knack for saying the right amount
I found the paragraph about the demise of Europe and inevitable turning east to be sad. I’m not sure that God has intended it to be that way. Russia wants to shake hands with Germany. Always. But the Great Satan has made Europe into the phoophoo dog of America and that’s not something to rejoice about. I get why you say it – Russians are really hurt to the core that the Europeans have treated like shit for so long…forever really – but there was a time when Russians could travel by train to Germany in an afternoon and have a cup of tea and a poppyseed yummy and they loved it.
But I sure agree with you about PCR – funny anacronym these days – haha – he is a mean old bugger and an American to the core – even neo-connish…war war war – more more more
Anyyway – I also congratulate Saker because Saker has sometimes been okay the the PCR test. That the Kremlin should listen to the PCR test.
We fairly quickly progressed from Donkeys on Blackpool Beach, to Donkeys in Skiathos, when we decided to get married..Yes you can bring your young brother too..but before then it was camels in Morocco, Tunisia and later Egypt. The elephants came in between, mainly in Thailand and India, where we took our kids.
Wife and kids loved it. I said I ain’t getting on that, the camel was bad enough.
And now almost no one can see The Elephant in the Room, nor talk about it or discuss it, well certainly not here or on MOA. No shriek no – not that. covid
Whilst I have applied for my new Passport, and after about 10 weeks, have had a response from Her Majesty’s Passport Office. “We’ve received your old passport”, they didn’t say how long it would take, before issuing me with a new one. My old one has still got 6 months left on it, but the Passport Office in Durham have got it.
I will not be jabbed. I will not wear a mask, but I want to travel, and I want my passport back.
My wife is having her hair done next Wednesday, and we will try the photoshoot again.
So far the passport office, have rejected my wife’s photos, mainly because she can’t stop smiling.
They will probably reject mine too. Still got my teeth too.
We are still the same people. Just 10 years older.
It’s not our fault we got old.
Probably because we just kept going and didn’t get jabbed, nor do any war stuff.

Robert’s has countless times written about how the west was provoking the situation in Ukraine and how the covid psyop is exactly the same as the censorship and silencing going on with regards to the crisis in Ukraine. To toss the baby out with the bath water truly is stupid.
Orlov’s piece is perfect. This is a Primer. Precise, authoritative, voiced by a Russian, written with clarity, not a line, sentence or paragraph that can be challenged.
What we non-Russians must always remember when we voice our opinion, we are not Russian. We cannot know the dynamics of Russian national interests, historical values or losses willing to give in order to get their land, people and security. It is their sense of their justice. We may wish it to be ours, but their blood and bodies go to the fight.
We must be good students. Dmitry’s piece bears the lessons, explains the situation and instructs us all, not just PCR.

I kept thanking you for your various comments and on this one I cannot pass by without thanking you once again.
You nailed it! As a Russian I totally understand and support every word Dmitry writes – there IS that strong, uniting russianness that binds us, russians, together like no other nations. That is to do with the common shared history that goes back centuries – history of defending your land from every aggressor, history of incredible sacrifices. Something the West has never expierenced and have no understanding of. Especially USA. The way they are going with their insane provocations, I think that new expierence of being attacked is not that far away for them. Will be an extremely good lesson!
Where do you find this article by PCR that people are talking about? We don’t see it on his website, nor on Unz.Review.
Was it scrubbed?
I agree that Roberts is wrong on this – and mass killing is not a subject to speak so lightly about as he does -, but I don’t believe it is necessary to get so personal as this: ‘now he is just another confused old man who, like our friend Brendan, has missed a perfectly good opportunity to hang it up and fade away. Mind you, I am trying to be kind and polite here.’ Good arguments like those in this article are more convincing than being offensive.
Well, one can certainly disagree with PCR if they like, but he has a track record of coming out correct.
Russia taking forever in Ukraine is inviting nuclear war, just as PCR states. Finland and Sweden are piling on, the west is having more than enough time to stir up never ending hatred against Russia and convincing everyone that Russia is a bunch of losers.
Whether true or not (not), the damage is done. The west is a bully and a bully that doesn’t get punched becomes more brazen.
I give PCRs verdict of nuclear war about an 8/10 right now. When that happens, I, for one, would rather see the gay fag nazis and otherwise degenerates in Ukraine wasted rather than the entire world.

“It will take another few months for it to register in the West that all those billions spent on aid to the Ukraine have gone into a black hole with nothing to show for it.”
This notion of registering reality is key I think. Americans are in denial about Ukraine, not seeing it is larger than a land grab and not realizing their nation is collapsing and is not coming back. We are in for a very brutal time in the years ahead while nations we have plundered will be recovering.
Saat darsaat (100%).
I concur totally and hope that Novorussia include 10 oblasts West of the Dnieper all the way to Odessa, controlling the entire coastline.
Poland can take Lviv and other neighbors land lost before…
Banderastan will not be viable…
I see the the logic behind this article and PCRs article. This explains General Millie’s prediction that Kiev would fall in 3 days. American military doctrine is ruthless. My stepmother is Russian. Born and raised in Crimea. She always considered Ukrainians her brothers. She went to Kiev in 2018 and found it weird that Russian was no longer spoken. Russian was always the dominate language for her growing up in Ukraine. It’s amazing how language and propaganda can turn peoples against one another so quickly. Let’s hope Russia’s soft spot for Ukraine doesn’t lead us into nuclear annihilation. God willing.
I’m consistently amazed how the base American understanding of this conflict assumes that there is a difference between Russia and Ukraine. It’s both sides of the issue in the states. PCR inadvertently applies the faulty assumption, as does everyone who wants to just blow stuff up and “win”. That’s asking Russian soldiers to kill their own family; their best friend back home’s grandmother; people who look like them and talk like them.
Win big and fast for US military actions have been more perception than reality. Sure we could make Baghdad in 3 weeks, but we left large groupings in the field for a photo op with a statue. And got a 20 year insurgency for it. It still took three weeks after two weeks of 1400 sorties/day. After 10 years of crushing economic sanctions that followed significant demilitarization. But Americans pretend like we blitzkrieged through Iraq without remembering Franks almost got fired or learning that our gear hates sand or that the British army is still useless and couldn’t take Basra. Etc. The olds in America are real susceptible to this and the young barely know it happened.
Russia is supposed to try to meet the expectations of PCR’s imagination? It should be commended that when the elephants fight, one of them is at least trying to step gingerly.
The writer contradicts himself, first he claims that western Ukrainians should help with Europe’s shortage of white people, then he says that Europe is more willing to absorb Ukrainians than Middle Easterners and that proves that Europe is “white supremacist”. If that’s so then we shouldn’t let those Ukrainians in, right? Because it’s “white supremacist” to have a white majority in a continent where white people originate from? Also Europe’s leaders may be accepting these “poor refugees”(ie cheap labour), it’s citizentry is not. Living in a Western European country I can say that the people are generally fed up with migrants as a whole and except for the eternal dogooders people don’t want Ukrainians to take away scarce housing from the native population and there have been “racists” who say things like “those Ukrainians should go back to Ukraine and take their Nazi ideology with them”.
PCR is an old cold warrior in some ways, he can’t help it, most men in the west that are of his age are. It is a knee jerk reaction if you ill. But on the present state of the USA he is no less lenient. No one gets them all right, and he obviously blew this one. But I am not going to say I will never again read his columns, because some if not most are very useful. Like a buffet; Take hat you like, and leave the rest.
Just how I told Saker readers last week to read Patrick Buchanan, I will tell you this week to read economist Scott Grannis, known on some web sites as Calafia Beach Pundit.
He will rebuild your faith in economists in general and human beings as a species.
Social sciences sold their soul to Groomers and Libtardz, as we now call them, decades ago.
I remember reading this particular column. I was like, WTF? Roberts seemed to have gone bonkers overnight.
Whatever, I just stopped reading and removed the feed rom the RSS list. Which is too long anyway.
Leaving in the west, I can’t say that reading your prose is pleasant, but the truth sometimes cannot be. Thanks for posting.
PCR brought up an issue that I have not seen addressed. How to explain the Russian Central Bank holding bank assets in western banks where they could be frozen/seized? After making such a blunder why was Nabiullina reappointed?
Is it certain that Russian Central Bank was holding bank assets in western banks? I read that on another site, but, so far, I’ve been unable to read anything that confirms in fact that it was true! That Russian retaliation to only sell in rubles was because of the West’s confiscation of Russian assets in the West!
Stoped reading PCR rants long ago.
Though i try to refrain of being an armchair commander, I will say that PCR has consistently criticized Mr. Putin for not being aggressive enough. This can be viewed in terms of Internal vs. External Martial Arts styles. PCR does not run the largest country on earth, and he seems much more concerned w/the linear trajectory rather than the overall. While the west is constantly bombarded by the stories of imminent Russian defeat, these propaganda originate from the c.i.a, etc, which controlls the press in the west. The c.i.a. does not control hundreds of thousands of soldiers, and although the final words come from congress in the declaration of war, and the president as commander-in-chief, the generals control the soldiers. And i believe they are paying very strong attention to what is going on in Ukraine, and are very impressed w/Russian capabilities. All the rest is just blather. I think Mr. Putin’s strategy and execution has left the U$ generals in awe, and much more willing to make peace with rather than do combat w/ the Russians.
Interesting
Say…what info do have of any comms between the parties?
Last I heard no-one is picking up…
Anything?
l know nothing, either, about back-channel communications. It would seem from the way things are going, that the Rusians have superior intelligence-gathering capabilities as well, as would be expected from a theater in their own land.
Roberts politics have always been racists. Millions dead, as long as they are not “white” has never been a problem for him.
Great article. PCR peace loving advocate get betrayed by his instincts. He is desperate to salvage “the peace made By his boss”. He and many others in the empire think they defeated the USSR.
Putin has wisely chosen the way to respond, calmy and slowly. In doing so he achieved what a nuclear use would not have. The three most significant achievements are, he turned around the Russian young infatuation with the America. That imo was the biggest threat to Russia. No country falls from outside. 2. Putin approach helped the west to show its real face in a magnified picture. There is no better way to convince stubborn people, countries than letting them see for themselves and draw their own conclusions. 3. Nato is waiting for the courageous first leader to announce its death. Or, it will decompose. And the three gave birth to a 4th. That is the dollar. That one I still don’t why on earth they messed with it and risked it all. They get to print a piece of paper backed by nothing and rest of the world with smile is competing to hoard more of it. Greed or revenge?
Had Putin used shock and owe appraoch, the two thirds of the world who support Russia today would be now saying we have two evils deserve each other. If Europeans are not careful, soon they will only be killing each other, because they will not be able to kill non Europeans.
Point ”6” start a nuclear war . He just does not get that Russia does not want to slaughter people they are not American.
Dear Dmitry,
In connection with your first claim, that Olaf Scholz.is the grandson of Fritz vou Scholz, member of the Nazi Party since the early thirties, commander of a SS German division that participated in clearing and punishment expeditions in Nazi created state of Ukraine in 1942-1943, as well as in a similar 1943 punishment expedition in Nazi abomination state called Independent Croatia, who was killed in 1944, there are conflicting reports. There were reports of this family connection in the local press in (occupied) Yugoslavia. While the biography of Fritz is well documented (see wikipedia), the official biography of Olaf (see wikipedia, or SDP published info) states that he comes from a worker background, his grandfather being a railway worker. Thus, according to some this whole issue of Olafs parentage is fake news.
Since this is a rather important issue, it would be good if we could verify it, and I do not know how. For the offsprings of the persecuted Eastern or Southern Slavs and Jews it is certainly of grave importance.
Since this is a rather important issue, it would be good if we could verify it
I agree. I read recently that both of Ursula von der Leyen’s grandfathers were avowed Nazis, and one of them (maternal?) was a perpetrator of the Babi Yar genocide. Unfortunately I don’t find the source of that claim any more. Maybe it is true but I cannot confirm it. Then there is Chrystia Freeland, also granddaughter of a verified and active Nazi. It seems to me that there are far too many third generation Nazis in key positions of power around the world today. How many others can be identified, and how many can be confirmed?
Most of the politicians in power in Germany (as in most Western countries) come from longstanding elite families – many (maybe more than many?) may well have been leading Nazi families at the time of the Third Reich (certainly significant numbers). I think Hitler was just a puppet – what mattered at that time was IG Farben, and the people associated with IG Farben. (And don’t forget, those IG Farben-connected people were the core of the people directly creating the foundations of the EU). What is particularly chilling to me is that in the Western system all those elite families were allowed to remain close to the helm of big business and the levers of power. OK, immediately after the war certain big names were pushed into the back room – but not the entire families – less well-known members of these same elite families were able to take over from their close relatives. Today it is all the same people from the same elite families – The Third Generation Nazis.
There was no denazification after WWII. Key Nazis were taken over by the West, especially the US, UK and Germany. The new German intelligence agency the BND was formed out of Nazi whole cloth. Even today, in recent years it was leaked that up to 50% of the German security services and of the Interior Ministry are pro-Nazi oriented. In the Beate Zschäpe affaire the court ordered the Interior Ministry to turn over its entire (very considerable) Zschäpe file to the court – the Interior Ministry instead shredded the entire file, and admitted doing so to the court. No consequences whatsoever for those responsible.
Just put the parts of the jigsaw together:
1) Key political leaders and key big business leaders and key bankers from the same pool of elite families (read, in my view but this needs to be verified, IG Farben-related families), third generation.
2) If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.
3) Scholz, von der Leyen, Freeland – all allegedly third generation from key Nazi perpetrators (first two allegedly genocide perpetrators, third Nazi publisher extolling their virtues); all three passionately support the Azov Nazis, all three have extensively -indirectly and implicitly – shown support for genocide of Russians; all three have consistently shown general behaviour towards their constituents that is excessively intolerant, elitist, authoritarian, and generally consistent with Nazi behaviour from the Third Reich; all three have consistently practiced and promoted governmental policies that are highly detrimental to society at large, in a manner that is highly consistent with the policies and objectives and operating procedures of IG Farben.
4) Ditto the security establishment.
5) Ditto all the countries determined by Russia to be “Unfriendly Countries”.
Denazification of the entire West is urgently overdue.
I can confirm that there are a lot of sources that “Chrystia Freeland is the granddaughter of a verified and active Nazi”. I have a picture from a Russian article of the German chancellor and his nazi grand father. Sadly, I couldn’t post it. I added an article of a Canadian newspaper about Chrystia Freeland.

Olaf School was born in 1958. Fritz von School was killed in 1944 on the eastern front.
Empire of lies is directed by the Empire of Nazi grandchildren who were indoctrinated in the catholic traditions and the American Corporatism and American anti-Russian propaganda and McCarthyism. Freeland was a CIA asset who called her grandpa a freedom fighter worked in Kiev prior to Maidan and has a condo overlooking Maidan. Most of these grandchildren are from the diaspora that the Catholic Church helped flee to America, Canada and South America. Croatian Ustashe (training camps in Canada in the 70’s) who assassinated Yugoslav political figures, hijacked airlines and attempted insurrections in Yu came from Canada, Australia, the USA and Latin America.
Excellent article, Agree with Mr. Orlov. PCR probably does not understand Ukrainians except for the Galician crazies, are Russians,,
Another nasty civil war in the Bloodlands. The Lausanne Treaty of 1923 clears the way for the necessary forced exchange of populations – Russians to the East of the Dnieper River (or whatever demarcation line is decided upon) and Ruthenes, Nazis and Zelots to the West.
Quite precise description of the sophisticated art of judo Russia is carrying out in the physical world, but also a clear description of the only weapon West has left: The narrative. The propaganda tool.
“the failure of Russia to impress the West”, “Washington’s control of the explanation”.
PCR and with him the Anglo-Sax culture is all about talking, posturing, impressing, make believe, and who control a fake reality.
After the Maidan coup Ukraine moved against the LDNR separatists to ethnic cleanse them. The seperatists resisted with Russian assistance and handed the Ukrainians their ass in caldrons and were getting set to really crush them in a big encirclement. That precipitated the Minsk accords which France and Germany guaranteed with Russia who wanted as bloodless a solution as possible. Ukraine and NATO, including France and Germany, used the Minsk pause to help Ukraine entrench itself militarily in the east so when they were to try the ethnic cleansing again they wouldn’t get hammered this time around. But Putin popped a big surprise on them and now they are in the big circle again and this time they are going to roast. France and Germany have proved themselves to be completely untrustworthy dogshit just like all the spineless NATO participants who are mere captains operating under the complex machinery of the City of London banksters, their Kings. Putin knows this and two Russian oligarchs and their families were just killed. I have been saying this war needs to be taken directly to the kings. We will see.

While I would stipulate the PCR has neither Mr. Orlov’s nor President Putin’s sensibilities toward the Ukraine, he speaks from a knowledge of the enemy and from a powerlessness in the face of the enemy which has overwhelmed us in America.
The antecedent to his understanding can be traced back to Richard Taylor who would become one of the Confederacy’s most able generals, although he had no formal military training. He attended the secession convention in Louisiana in January 0f 1861 as a delegate. He had studied in the North at Yale University. He knew “those people” very well: messianic Puritans who had as their mission to make all Americans over in their image. He told his fellow delegates that if they voted to secede, “those people” would never allow Louisiana to go in peace; they would come with a “righteous force” and plunder, rape and destroy, with the intent of destroying the people and their culture. They did exactly that.
When General Taylor, for although opposed to secession, he did become a Confederate general, surrendered his division in Alabama, a Union officer who was a transplanted German nationalist told Taylor, who was the son of an American president, that he would now be taught how to be a “true American.” Note the irony in the condescending German’s attitude!
These neo-con heirs to the self-righteous Puritans, the condescending Germans and Trotsky in the form of the neo-cons, i.e. Nuland, Sullivan, Blinken, etc. indeed see the President Putin’s true virtue as a weakness, In the West and in the United States, they will leverage those virtue’s as weakness to prepare the ground for a false flag which will be their ticket to “boots on the ground” or to a “no fly zone.” Those will, in turn, lead to a full-scale war and eventually to a nuclear exchange. Make no mistake about it, while God and moral people understand President Putin’s concern for Ukrainians, “those people” hate virtue and use it as a weapon against the virtuous. it is not only that they turn virtue into weakness for the sake of propaganda; they actually despise virtue and really do see it as weakness. PCR may have been a little blunt with his remedy; but he knows the enemy, and I am afraid that the Russians might be underestimating the willingness of the enemy to destroy the world if they come to understand that they will not win.
«prepare the ground for a false flag which will be their ticket to “boots on the ground” or to a “no fly zone.” Those will, in turn, lead to a full-scale war and eventually to a nuclear exchange.»
There are previous models, for example Korea in the 1950s: direct war between great powers, but no nuclear exchange. There could be an army of “polish volunteers” joining the ruthenian fascists just like in Korea there was an army of “chinese volunteers” joining the north-korean communists.
Or it could become like Georgia and Syria, and remain a proxy war, even if on a much bigger scale.
I can only concur with your thoughts. You spoke in a plain and convincing way.
“from the Russian point of view … the Ukraine isn’t Europe, it is Russia”
and from my point of view Russia is part of Europe, always has been.
Europe is part of Eurasia, which stretches from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and from the Baltic to the Indian Ocean.
“What we fight for is so petty / And our victories make us even smaller” — Rilke, The Onlooker (Der Anschauern”.
Same here.
What good is ‘Eurasia’ without Europe?
Many have said here multiple times that the Anglo-Saxon goal has long been to prevent comity in the Eurasian landmass, hence the two world wars and the Cold War. The recent conflicts remain part and parcel of this goal, as it keeps the continent divided and weak. Divide and conquer, if one can call it that (especially with NATO and the CIA’s ownership of the European media).
In my view, any sort of artificial ‘Iron Curtain’ between Russia and the rest of Europe, irrespective of which side imposes it, feeds into that same goal. And so does the rhetoric of pundits (likely under the US/UK payroll) such as that one German lady who days ago claimed that Russians aren’t European no matter how they look.
I can henceforth see where Putin and co. were coming from when they sought rapprochement with Europe, particularly Germany, until now. You won’t hear me accusing them of delusion, naivety, suicide, treason or amnesia.
“I can henceforth see where Putin and co. were coming from when they sought rapprochement with Europe, particularly Germany, until now.” You won’t hear me accusing them of delusion, naivety, suicide, treason or amnesia.”
From your comment it appears that you are aware of nice distinctions, but as a function of framing, appear unaware that change is a constant within which the lateral variables include but are not restricted to forms, trajectories or velocities.
As a function of their purposes and perceived/implemented modes of facilitation, the opponents apparently do not share your facility in nice distinctions, but do share in hope your perception of change, whilst exhibiting almost constant nervousness that their hopes are misguided, rendering them regular practitioners of over-extension, including but not limited to “accusing them of delusion, naivety, suicide, treason or amnesia”, thereby increasing the amplitudes of oscillations of the suspension bridges of “The United States of America”.
By ‘them’ I meant Putin and co.. Sorry.
I respect PCR and i am on his side, not side of Dmitry Orlov in this matter, simply because PCR is American, he was born “not to understand” Russians and not to love Russians. As a Serb i was born Russophile, my grandfather was like that, my father was like that. So easy for me! Not so easy for PCR.
Today I have listened discussion between philosophers Dugin and Levi, and that Zionist Levi was lying about Ukraine being older than Russia and Dugin let him go unpunished.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x70z5QWC9qs
I have never heard Saker, correct me if i am wrong, clarifying what term Ukraine means.
English: Borderland
Russian: Oкраина , Okraina
So, this tells you exactly what Ukraine is, Russian borderland, Russian most western part. It is not ethnic identity, there is no Ukrainian people, there is no Ukraine, it is a mistake, it is artificial, it is created by (so much hatred by west communist regime of USSR, I guess they didn’t like the USSR but they like inter republic borders so much!. Same as in Yugoslavia!
PCRs writings may be based on an analytical view rather than a prescriptive view even if it doesnt sound like it or it maybe just that his style of writing may come across as aggressive and unappealing to some
Irrespective, in all fairness, PCR, even at an old age is very sharp, highly analytical, and is able to develop logical frameworks of analysis and strong conclusions with minimal writing effort – and that takes a huge mental capacity to accomplish
