OK, I know I am over 80 but cannot figure out how to get the video to “play”…and I do love Pepe.any help out there???
Click on the “Play” arrow in the middle.
The actual presentation starts at about 12:09 (that means 12 minutes and 9 seconds).
So, either wait for about 12 minutes for the red line at the bottom to move to the right, or put your cursor on the red dot and move it to the right along the line until the time indication above the red line is 12:09.
I hope this helps!
This how go, when stal money on phone right?
click at time 11;51
Press the grey box with the white triangle that is superimposed in the middle of the thumbnail, or press the grey box that says “watch on YouTube” that is in the lower left hand corner.
tobyt
also if you watch on Youtube a transcript is available, you can click on the three gray dots immediately to the right of “Save” for that option. It will appear to the right where the “Chat” is.
No gray dots to right of save. Does the transcript exist in iOS? There are three dots in upper right hand corner, they lead nowhere. Chat? Is that like replies?
Very nice to see the cordial responses to the 80 year old gentleman. I am only 70 and just about helpless on this machine. Most queries I make only elicit derision so tend to keep doing the few things known to work.
A transcript would be way better than spending 90 minutes with this.
hi sir. on the video above, should be a “watch on youtube” in lower left.
if you get to the video on youtube, below the screen it has
UKRAINE WAR UPDATE with PEPE ESCOBAR and RICHARD MEDHURST

the three dots will have transcript availability, hope this is helplful
Thank you for trying. The mythical three dots do not appear. Searched all over for help videos and all of them reference items that are simply not on my screen.
Enormous amounts of time are spent by millions of people trying to decipher what should be simple and obvious if computers were designed for non-geeks. Personally over last 40years it is probably ten thousand lost hours, minimally, and $10,000 on tutors with zero patience for non-technical students. The dominant technology and it refuses service to those who are not fully initiated and prostrate.
You would miss so many tangible nuances, vocal intonations, facial expressions and outright hilarity by just reading the transcript. This vid is worth every second, but I do get your point. If you don’t have a hearing issue, click the wheel icon and speed it up, most vids at 1.5 or 1.75 are still easy to listen too….still a great interview. I like Medhurst’s style and Pepe is so entertaining.
Cheers M
Were you able to watch/hear Pepe and Mr. Midhurst?
We truly hope so. Pepe was great!!
We also observed, Mr. Midhurst that you seem to be far and away more knowledgeable about these current affairs as compared to your American colleagues.
They should have cut off the first nearly twelve minutes, which are just “waiting for the livestream to begin” and thus no action nor sound happens for that long wait.
If you click the PLAY arrow and then leave your cursor on the screen, or occasionally move it away and then back again, you’ll see that the line at the bottom IS slowly moving – and the “minutes/seconds” count is clicking away despite the seemingly dead screen.
“Richard and I did our best to put all the dementia in perspective without going crazy.”
The Straussian’s could drive everyone crazy, all their acolytes are certified!
Essential antidote is :
The Secret Kingdom of Leo Strauss
https://larouchepub.com/pr/site_packages/2003/leo_strauss/3015secret_kingdom_ap_.html
When President Putin referred to the Empire of Lies – this is the reference, written by someone who traced it through.
You’re on spot. A must read for the today’s state of affairs is Drury, Shadia B. (2008): The political ideas of Leo Strauss. New York.
Leo Strauss’ political philosophy developed from his studies of Hobbes and Greek philosophers such as Thucydides, Plato, Xenophon, the Islamic philosopher Farabi, and Machiavelli. He had been a charismatic teacher, soon becoming a kind of guru at the University of Chicago political sciences with a large group of adhering students, many of them later becoming leading Neoconservatives. He considered philosophy to be the highest activity of man, creating “knowledge about all things”.
According to Strauss, such philosopher’s knowledge contrasts with the “opinion on all things” common in society; he considered knowledge as being dangerous for the functioning of the society, thus the philosopher has to hide his knowledge and has to communicate in a way preserving the common opinions which allow the functioning of the society (Drury 2008, 18).
According to Strauss, societies need myths and illusions to survive; as Drury concludes, Strauss considered “religion and morality as the most pious swindles ever perpetrated on the human race” (ibid, 20). According to Strauss, justice is purely conventional, and the state is usually founded in crime. According to Strauss, religion is necessary for civil society since it reconciles the individual self-interests with the needs of the society; he considers the just man as being either a fool or being duped by convention (ibid, 93). Strauss states for the natural right of the ruling philosopher: “It would be absurd to hamper the free flow of wisdom by any regulations; hence the rule of the wise must be absolute rule. It would be equally absurd to hamper the free flow of wisdom by consideration of the unwise wishes of the unwise; hence the wise rulers ought not to be responsible to their unwise subjects.” (Strauss: Natural Right and History, 1953, 140).
“The rule of a tyrant who, after having come to power by means of force and fraud, or having committed any number of crimes, listens to the suggestions of reasonable men, is essentially more legitimate than the rule of elected magistrates as such.” (Strauss: On Tyranny, 1968, 76-77)
Drury concludes that Strauss classifies three types of men: The wise philosopher, the gentlemen and the vulgar. The covert tyranny of the wise is made possible only by the rule of gentlemen, those lovers of honour and glory who are true believers in God, honour and moral imperatives. The vulgar are lovers of wealth and pleasure, selfish and indolent, and can be inspired to rise above their brutish existence only by fear of impending death or catastrophe. (Drury 2008, XV)
Strauss’ concept of the “noble lie” is a main root of the empire of lies. There is nothing noble there, only toxic plastic, instruments of death and rotten livelihoods.
The simple and honest discussion by Pepe and Richard is something the West lacks and will never experience given the direction we are now seeing in the West. The free speech blah, blah, the trickster West have always preached to others than themselves is nothing but a ploy to take advantage of weaker nations across the globe. All that there is in the West is the lying 24/7 by a corrupt ruling clique.
Would be nice if the post included a link, or am I missing something?
Since I had not heard of Mr. Medchuk, I searched and found the following. Don’t know if this is the link you are searching for, if its no the droids you are looking for, just carry on. :)

Thanks to Saker, Pepe, Richard. The discussion was very useful as confirmation of certain things. You know one can have the right sense of things, but would like some more competent with the fingers the right places to confirm this sense.
Conclusion, things are going according to plan. We only have the nuke issue to worry about. Yes high prices, famines, hard times, but if our human platform can be seen to survive in the long term horizon, its possible to fight it off.
Could not get this video to play so I watched instead a very good Alex C that I missed a week ago. Excellent:

I hope they capture the fckers. I would watch the executions with relish.
yes, we can ridicule, bt we can also practise the art of prayer & thought. years ago there was (mainly in japan if i remember correctly) research on the power of thought. the research involved plants & people actively projecting thought or prayer in the form of love & or healing. the plants responded. very like the mysteries of quantum mechanics. we can all now practise the art of visualizing peace, love, harmony, light overcoming darkness. we can change the complexion of our universe, we can alter the evil & ignorance to light through our thoughts, our knowing that light & goodness will & is prevailing. we must perfect the art of what we are thinking & feeling in order to restore health, harmony, well being & love. we may be few in natostan bt global we are many. we cannot afford to forget or forego our power. thank you, pepe, as always you bring truth & light. (if this is a double post, forgive me.)
This video of the sinking of the USS Thach might be a good representation of what happened to the Moskva:
https://www.dvidshub.net/video/475129/rimpac-2016-sinkex-decommissioned-uss-thach-ffg-43
The ship was hit by missiles and a torpedo. You can see it slowly taking on water and sinking. The damage to the Moskva was much more serious because it was filled with fuel and munitions.
Technically, ‘post-Orwell’ is everything after 1950.
Eric Arthur Blair, who wrote under the pen-name of George Orwell, died in London in Jan 1950.
When Orwell wrote about the Ministry of Truth, he worked for the BBC. You’re right but I might push the Orwellian period back to at least 1948.
“the blowback will be horrible for all of us” — Pepe quoting a source within the EU.
Except, it depends on how you define ‘us’.
And, there are very large class distinctions here. If you are rich enough, then this doesn’t hurt. Maybe the rich have a talk with their accountants at the end of the year where it turns out that they did not reach their personal targets for increasing their personal wealth in this year? But, that’s the most that the people in the mansions, in the villas, summering on the yachts will feel. The people who retire to a house in Thailand won’t feel this. It will not be ‘horrible’ to them, not in the real sense of the world that the rest of us will experience.
And of course, the lower you go down the class ladder, the more horrible it is going to get. The people who are already struggling to get by will find it harder and harder as food prices rise and then energy prices rise and then that further increases the prices of everything else because it takes energy to get the stuff to the people.
Its a good thing that the EU now has a few million new refugees to take up the most horrible spots at the bottom. Somebody has to take those spots at the bottom. Maybe they can be conned into working overtime for half-pay on some scheme of a EU-Dream? And in the future, they can be blamed for all the problems like immigrants always are blamed by the problem-creators.
Outstanding discussion and thanks for posting!
One thing I think that Saker should consider is doing these kinds of live chats where he might have someone pose questions or he might ask for questions from viewers of his blog. I think he would be great at it and he would not have to use his hands to type. Just an idea….
Pepe is certainly on point with his discussion on the EU, Medhurst shows the gas pipeline that will feed Poland from Germany (reverse flow of Russian gas), and the two discuss the possibility of nuclear war and how insane it all would be.
Note that the other name for a gold or silver standard is “commodity money”.

Thank you, Pepe and Richard, for that most enlightening and enjoyable conversation. In these toxic times, I believe smiles, laughter and a sense of humour like yours to display still remain the best antidotes available. Keep on inspiring your many admirers.
A good video for sure.
Pepe’s neologisms are like Nietzsche’s aforisms! Lol
“Activist nihilists”
If you can’t understand Nietzsche is because you can’t understand Nietzsche! Lol
The kiddo is a great host! The interview flowed!
Thanks for posting it!
Excuse my french but the ship is going doing MTFs! 😂🤣
is https://www.strategic-culture.org/ down? or is it censored in switzerland? and if yes, what russian or what ever VPN should i use???
Blocked in NATOstan. The site is up and running. If you do not have a VPN to Russia, try Serbia.
At least, tuning into Radio Beromünster clandestinely at night is not considered as being a crime yet.
I remember Pepe mentionning in a post -I forget where – asking we support him- it’s comming back now, it was on his telegram channel – but could’nt find him on Patreon, can Pepe indicate to me how?
Pepe always packs every sentence he utters with amazing wisdom and information–and often levity when appropriate. Few Americans can articulate as well as he can in English. I think he is in the same category of absolutely top notch communicator that he ascribes to Lavrov. Can you believe that both he and that American dictator (the one he calls “crash test dummy”) are members of the same species?
So right.
Oftentimes when I think a question has a pretty obvious answer, and so why ask it?
I am always surprised that Pepe brings in something more.
IMHO no transcript can match the pleasure of being in the presence of someone with the incredible breadth of experience, humor, and sincerity of Pepe Escobar.
However, I do understand that time is a factor for many.
Richard also did a very good job of managing the interview, and I think Pepe was sincere when he suggested that they do such sessions on a regular basis.
Pepe is not quite exact when he notes that the US dollar is “nothing based” , i.e., strictly a fiat currency. The US, in their relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, offered military protection for the House of Saud in exchange for (a) the KSA to sell their oil in US dollars, and (b) the KSA to buy US Treasury Securities with their revenue from oil sales.
Yes, the US, under Nixon detached the US dollar from the gold standard due, I think, to the enormous cost of the war against Viet Nam, etc.. But the arrangement with the Saudis is still in place, AFAIK.
Of course, when the Saudis publicly discuss selling oil to the PRC using Chinese currency – as they recently did – then the US leadership must be apoplectic about such a course of events. Because the oil assets ostensibly belong to the KSA and not the USA. Hitherto. For the USA is as, or more, dangerous to its “friends” as to its “enemies”.
The branches of the US military are the truly “exceptional” parts of the empire.
“Intellectual no-fly zone” 😂 – classic Pepe Escobar
