Two videos of the national rifle association. I guess you posted these as a media competence training. Well done.
Both videos are reflecting a core of truth, but do not propose a real remediation to the causes of gun violence and violence in general. Of course not, because NRA promotes weapons sales. Its arguments are often circular.
For instance, because of the risk of getting shot, NRA promotes to carry weapons for self-defense. Of course, if everybody follows suit, the true risk of getting shot increases. Which increases the fear of getting shot and promotes further weapons sales. As I pointed out in my post to the first video, the real cause for much of the violence is fear and poverty. It seems to me that people in the US are conditioned to fear anybody they do not know personally, and the first video adds to that fear conditioning.
This video is presenting a string of true statements: Inner cities are more dangerous than gated communities. Gangsters do not submit to gun laws. Poverty leads many young people to drug crime. Drug crime is organized in gangs. Gang violence often involves shootings.
Therefore, if you want to become a criminal, procure a weapon (sarc).
How about a real solution? Legalize all drugs and sell them for cheap in state-controlled shops as pure substances (for example 50$/kg of heroin: production cost 3-5$/kg in Afghanistan). This would kill the entire drug related crime by drying up the money inflow. It would further kill ~90% of the CIA black earnings.
To get rid of the weapons, buy them back at 60-70% discount. Complement that move by offering legal ways to earn a living. There is so much of rotten infrastructure that needs attention. Enough work for a generation.
