Videos need to have transcripts because its much quicker to read than to listen to such long videos.

24 minutes of speech is difficult to do when it only takes 5-8 minutes to read an entire program.

Its a big problem lots of tv programs have, they assume people can watch a program uninterrupted when its not always possible. Someone should send RT a little heads up that transcripts make their programming more readily available to a much broader market.

It would be much better to have a written short summary of the entire program so that people can choose to watch the video or not. If someone post a video it makes sense to give a little summary why they believe the Video is important enough to be watched.

Click youtube on the video dashboard, It will take you to the YouTube site. Go to the left under RT, Subscribe where it says More. Click it and there is a Transcript. Click that and READ.

That is better than nothing, but sadly, it is speech-to-text machine transcript; on people with accents it can be quite wrong.

Very good suggestion, Narciso! I usually listen while doing other things – treating it more as radio – but I appreciate most people have less free time. If there were transcripts, I think I too would read more of them than I now watch the videos.

I think Narciso you miss the point. The show called CrossTalk and this what has been presented to us. I’m sorry that you don’t have a time to watch the program but for example I don’t have time to watch a hockey games …. It’s doesn’t mean I have to complain to The Sakes to provide ME transcript of the game. I will recommend you to address your concern to RT.

From the description of the video on YouTube:

“The recent high-level meetings between Russian and American officials in Sochi created a media and diplomatic buzz. It appears Washington actually does want to talk to Moscow – and may even be willing to work together on a number of international issues again. Does that include Ukraine as well?”

RT always writes descriptions for its videos. But I agree with you in the broad sense that this is important for the general population.

maybe do as I do : use a tablet and take it to your bathroom, best way to start your day. Needs a tablet of course…
But you are right in the sense that lot of things are on video nowadays and it takes longer than reading to get to the interesting part. But you have to think about young people for which reading is a pain, sadly..

Narsisco…if you have such time maybe you should do the transcription ? Instead of ordering, I mean suggesting in your humble opinion, that Saker & co to do it…(like an oligarch)…

And anyway…I understood it all and enjoyed every minute of it. Peter LaVelle is the ultimate best and I loved both of his guests…and the strong accent ??? I loved it. Where was that guest from, with that strong accent ?

Thanks again for the most important “The other side of the story.”

Very informative. The participants appear to be good people.

Does anyone know if this particular interview style program is aired in the Russian language in Russia?

Do the Russian people know what is happening in the Ukraine area? My perception is, yes, they are well informed.

    Is this perception correct?

Yup, so well informed that any semblance of a similar “color revolution” even beginning in Russia is a complete non-starter right now.

    Decent discussion.

    Regarding porkshank’s dilemma:

    MASH (funeral scene)

He should give it some thought…

Bot Tak…Poroshenko ain’t gonna commit suicide…he’d be in a worse place than now and he’s been making huge money since his stay as president. That’s all. After the situation gets too failed he’ll ‘retire’ with his family who, my understanding is that they are already out of Ukraine. He’s also building a mansion on a heritage property…that was all over the news a couple of days ago.

He’s got a plan…for his personal future. He might succeed too. So far he has. I mean he’s failed the Ukraine, but he’s succeeded in what he hoped to achieve…more money and connections.

I’d like to see more focus on Soros and his ilk. What were/are their roles in these events?

I really liked the guy with the strong accent, what he was trying to say. Mark’s very emotionally involved and very informed….he has family members in Donbass. And I know what he says is true. But for this North American viewer it would have been nice to have heard the other guy…Xavier…more. He was more focused on ‘the money’ which is the final say in most things…although the morals of Kiev are despicable and eventually doomed to failure…its the same world wide…the morals are shot…but its the money that is the deciding factor.

Some of us would argue that the geopolitical ramifications of things are far more important than the money. There is no money value for the Crimea, for example, for without it, Russia would be driven into the ground at some point.

Xavier Moreau was good. But overall, I can’t appreciate this Crosstalks format. Too much loudness, too much hysterically whipped up emotion. Artificial liveliness. Guess they think it has to be that way to reach out to people, to stop them from zapping on to the next channel. They’re probably right.

I disagree! I prefer actually learning what people think.Watching the MSM similar programs you get only “doubletalk” and spin to their answers.

The only “dilemmas” concerning Poroshenko need to be.Does the court order a gallows or firing squad. And what time is the execution to be set for.

Concerning Germany’s pledge to rebuild Donbass after the war, I agree it’s a green light to continue the war. When there is victory for Kiev and nothing left standing in the East, German industry can go in with SEZs (as the German Federation of Industry plans for Greece) and build their factories – i.e. corporate and KfW investment, not German government investment – repatriating their factories from China on the one hand, but also positioning German industry closer to the East, its main client focus. These SEZs would also have room for US and other corporations.
