Who knows, the deal with Turkey might in the end even remove the reason Turkey is – I believe – trying to get rid off Assad in the first place: Assad didn’t permit a gas pipeline from Qatar through his country to Turkey.
If that is indeed the case, then not only has Europe lost BIG TIME, but even the should-be-laughing third party America will have her foreign policy in West Asia completely undermined. If Turkey abandoned its support of terrorists against Syria, the US would be severely, if not terminally, hampered with the goals (of chaos?) in that region.
Upheaval ahead. All these latest developments could wreak havoc on the EU, and also on NATO.

On the issue of the new pipeline from Russia to Turkey.
Both Putin and Gazprom chairman Alexei Miller have stated that the new pipeline will have a gigantic capacity of 63cbm and that it will run across the Turkish landmass and end up at the Greek border. At the Greek border, a special hub will be constructed so that the markets of Southern Europe could be provided. This was the aim of the South Stream all along.
This latest move by Putin and Erdogan (keep in mind, also demonized by western mainstream media) seems to have the following goals:
1. Raise a middle finger to the EU. Putin wants to do that for obvious reasons, but Erdogan also has his own. Like I said above, the propaganda against him in the MSM is almost as hypocritical as that against Putin, and I also invite you to watch an interview that Erdogan has recently given to Charlie Rose where he clearly and unambiguously expresses his disgust with the west in general and the EU in particular.
2. As the above posters have already noted, this may very well be a geo-strategic move by the two players explicitly designed to undermine the Qataris and their friends in Paris, London and Washington. The whole point of overthrowing Assad was for the Qatari pipeline to be able to reach Europe. Erdogan may as well have thrown his considerable geo-strategic weight along with Putin, checkmating the Qataris, British, French and Americans.
3. A further strengthening of Russo-Turkish relations on all levels (economic, strategic, political) We have to note here that Russia and Turkey have long been bitter rivals in decades and centuries gone by. This may well prove to be yet another strategic coup for Putin.
This can also be seen as a further move by the post-colonial world in letting the West know that they are no longer masters and commanders of the planet. As mighty as the countries of the G7 may look on paper, once they lose the ability to fleece the rest of the planet, they will be nothing more than little annoying bugs, waiting to be crushed. The current global situation reminds of Tuco and the fat Yankee from the film “The Good the Bad and the Ugly”. Tuco to fat Yankee: “I will throw you into the ground once, and you will never get up again”.
In addition to the implications for Syria I mentioned above, the hint by Russia of a possibility to pipe gas via Turkey to Greece – instead of Bulgaria – is not to be misunderestimated (as highest-ranking American politicians might say :P ).
So Russia is still dangling the carrot of a South Stream 2.0 (via Greece, not Bulgaria) in front of Europe, telling them they can still change their policies to work in their own interests.
And Greece is desperate for a shot in the arm, having been neglected by the EU. Bulgaria on the other hand will kick itself in the butt.
In a nutshell: Europeans will see that they are hurting themselves, not isolating Russia, and they will continue voting in that direction. The pressures created on the EU will no doubt grow enormously. Russia seems to be better for most EU members than Brussels.
@Honk (myself) Assad didn’t permit a gas pipeline from Qatar through his country to Turkey.
Here’s what might happen: Erdogan, who, in the usual AngloZionist way, was stupid enough to bet the loss of his face on the “Assad must go” theme, now needs Assad to go, to maintain his reputation. Putin will negotiate that outcome on terms agreeable to Assad, securing the continuity of Syria, and a defeat of the mostly foreign terrorists. The US and the EU, especially Hollande (but who cares about that nobody anyway?) will find themselves dumbfounded.
Sorry, I meant to say Erdogan but the auto-correct made it into Endogamy.
Anyway, the point is that Erdogan’s change of heart could not possibly be pleasing to Mr. Khazin, Saker’s Mr. Nice Jew, as Erdogan is not a friend of Israel just as much Turkey is not in love with the EU and NATO.
Orban is left to struggle for his life in Hungary (sorry for Serbia) but in the end the new gas hub at the boarder between Turkey and Greece is a real coup. It has far reaching potential.
Hey, Saker, Putin is not going to convert the Turks into Orthodox Christians but maybe into Marxists.
Erdogan is a genocidal maniac and anybody defending his good will is either delusional useful idiot or an agent provocatour. That scumbag Erdogan is dripped in blood of Syrians and Iraqis, he’s if not the main person responsible for the barbarian butchery of Syria, then at most the 5th. In order to stop the massacres of Syrians and to protect the Russian underbelly in Caucasus that monster Erdogan got himself a sweet deal. He’s safe – for now…
I invite you to check out how this development is presented in the western mainstream media (all of them)
They just title their articles: “Russia scraps South Stream” and maybe deep down in the article, they may mention something of this type: “Russia tries to court Turkey”
The western MSM have really sunk lower than the old Stalinist regimes in terms of shameless propaganda. Much lower.
@Saker Am I missing something or is it a forgone conclusion that Turkey is a loyal tool and a proven enforcer of NATO. I can name at least one massive U.S base in Turkey (Incirlik Air Force base). Most CIA/ Pentagon black-ops in Central Asia have Turkey as their point of origin. The original NATO Gladio stay behind assassination program counted Turkey as one of its main bases. Turkey is the American Hammer/ dagger at the heart of Central Asia just as Nigeria and Ethiopia play that role on the African continent. With all these as a foundation, I’m forced to ask on what basis do you build your assumption that Turkey is about to rebel against her NATO overlords? I know Erdogan has been playing the good cop to NATO’s bad cop lately for internal political consumption, but there has been no grounds to presume Turkey will turn on NATO besides that dog and pony show, on the geopolitical level. They just assisted in the total destruction of Syria as a state, and Iraq before that. Please tell me Russia’s big counter to American bullying on the south stream front isn’t to run into the open jaws of NATO’s reliable enforcer Turkey.
So what are you suggesting then? That Russia sits back and takes the beating that the AZs are trying to inflict on her? Or are you suggesting that Russia should launch a war against Turkey in order for Syrian children to be saved? The tragedy of Syria is of course part of Erdogan’s making but largely a Franco-Anglo-Qatari-American-Zionist plot.
Russia is neither strong enough nor holy enough to save the entire planet. Russia’s strategic aim is to safeguard her own interests and create a multi-polar world. Simple as. That is a realistic and positive goal in my opinion.
@ProPeace Erdogan is [..] at most the 5th [main person responsible for the barbarian butchery of Syria].
If Putin can turn Erdogan, who will remain at the helm of Turkey for another couple of years at least – bar something like a successful orange-flying-pig-revolution, around to do the right thing, then that’s probably the best that anyone could do for Syria, for Turkey, for Russia, and probably even for the Kurds.
What is your alternative solution to better the horrendous situation in Syria?
These latest Russian developments are instilling hope (in a citizen of the German province of AngloZionistan), as – medium term – they look like exactly the catalysts needed to wean a great many countries off the AZ dictats.
After Brussels will have made too much use of the rope – selflessly provided to them first by AngloZionists, then by Putin – and succeed in strangulating enough of its members states, those states will realize that EU membership was a ruse after all. And that NATO membership – and the subordination to the US that comes with it – is even worse.
Part II Turkey is also a major hub for CIA/NATO drug trafficking and money laundering operations originating from Afghanistan and beyond. This traffic is worth much more than any gas related residual profits that might fall Turkeys way as an ally of Russia. If you consider the firm foothold NATO has in Turkey , Fetullah Gulens network of drug lords and CIA protected kingpins that wield the real power in Turkey, there is no way you can argue that Turkey will jeopardize their favored status in the American mafia network over a few crumbs from Russia. There is much more here than meets the eye. Besides, why would Turkey risk the fate Syria just suffered with all those Jihadi takfiri networks transiting turkey, to say nothing of the PKK threat on their border. Erdogan was and still remains an American stooge. The election campaign was a big shell game and he even gets a platform on American TV to keep up his opposition act for the cameras. Why would they bet on Russia when even Syria, with Tartus for reassurance, couldn’t count on the Kremlin’s salvation. It just doesn’t add up, sorry.
Do you have a link showing that he is the Deputy Chief of Police of Kiev? I’d like it if its true (I want to post it in a few places). But I need to know he is the Police Deputy Chief before posting it.
Re: Erdogan – I am only suggesting NOT whitewashing his crimes, on contrary reminding people about the atrocities until his judgment day comes. If that gas deal saves lives in Syria and Iraq then it should be hailed.
I tend to agree. Perhaps Putin is enticing Turkey to drift towards a more SCO alignment and China connection (turkey did purchase Chinese military assets some time back). Perhaps Putin finds some values alignment with Greek orthodox via the Turkish route? Perhaps Erdogan’s payback for Joe Biden’s recent diplomatic slip-up is being exploited but both Turkey and Russia? Perhaps it’s part of a deal to save Syria and Assad?
However, all that is balanced by another NATO gatekeeper on Putin’s gas distribution network.
NATO creeping east into former Ukraine, NATO holding the Black Sea exit and now gas to Greek and beyond (west). NATO in Afghanistan blocking India from Russian and Iranian gas routes. NATO in Alaska facing Russia’s east with Japan and South Korea (both may as well be NATO) on standby.
About the only sides of the Russian ‘cube of containment’ left are the frozen north, up, down to the centre of the earth and China to the east if they wish to play along (and that’ll cost Vietnam).
It’s tight for Russia’s Houdini — and I’m not entirely sure he’s got the game yet. Fascinating but just far too complex to call, imo.
The USA only entered the first world war after millions upon millions had died in the trenches, and only because they wanted a share of the land and assets won in the war, America arrived in the 2nd world war 3 years too late, after millions had died across Europe, and all the hard fighting had already been done, ONLY because they got attacked at Pearl Harbor, If not for that they were prepared to do nothing to help, and would watch the Germans take over Europe.
They love to claim they joined the war effort to help their allies, and they really believe the war was won because of them, they even teach their children ‘If not for the US we’d of lost the war’, when the truth is so different.
The WW2 was won by the Russians holding their front at the cost of tens of millions of lives and by Britain holding it’s front & Island leaving the Germans at a dead end, the American only arrived to help with the final assault that was put together by the British.
After the war the Americans went on their war mission against the Communists, invading countries far weaker than themselves and basically trying to cull a race of people, until they bumped into another superpower in the Soviet Union, meaning the USA had to behave and could not invade anywhere without fear of a Soviet backlash, so the American withdrew and decided it would be more wise to stay at home.
Only when the Soviet Union collapsed did the cowardly American start throwing it’s weight about across the world again because they had been left as the only superpower! They abused that role, with their wars based on lies, invading weaker countries under the pretense of hunting down ”terrorists” after it had murdered it’s own people on 9/11 too gain support for it’s fake ”war on terror”.
The United States CIA helped create and arm these groups like ‘IS’ and ‘Al Qaeda’ to do their dirty work in removing leaders of countries who do not comply with America’s thinking, because once again there is a 2nd superpower that won’t allow America into places like Syria, so they create and arm these groups and only for these Militant groups decide to turn on the United States do they then call them terrorists.
They also have CIA & NGO’s in Ukraine causing unrest among the people and keeping the country de-stabilised, while telling the ”elected leader” to join UN/ NATO, as America can then use NATO to get military bases inside Ukraine.
Putin is well within his rights to put a stop to the USA / NATO getting in Ukraine,as it affects Russia’s security, just as the Soviets were made to leave Cuba because that affected America’s security. America seem to want it both ways.
Putin against the odds has built up a country that was on it’s knees following the collapse of USSR that once again is a world superpower, and will if need be use his power to stop the terrorist country of the United States. I just wish the European governments would stop backing the Americans up, Idiots!
The cowardly United States are the worlds only real terrorists.
I wish people went back to having single enemies. This dual-three-sided conflict thing makes me dizzy.
Russia And Turkey have not been too friendly for a long time, and some of their interests don’t coincide. The economy is a big thing but not the only thing. If this gas deal stops the ISIS style trouble spreading into Russia, well and good. If not, this scheme has a hundred points of failure before it’s even really signed. I see it more than anything else as pressure on EU, calling their bluff on Ukraine.
I believe South Stream will end up being built, although possibly with a leg through Turkey instead of under the Black Sea. NATO being on both ends of the crossing point is a bit of a worry though.
DONETSK, December 3. /TASS/. Kiev security forces have repeatedly violated the ceasefire regime at Donetsk airport, the press service of the Defence Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) told TASS on Wednesday. “During the night we registered Ukrainian side’s multiple violations, and over the past 24 hours they violated the ceasefire regime 62 times,” the ministry said. On Tuesday, speaker of the DPR parliament Andrey Purgin said that “the truce should begin at the airport” of Donetsk at 18:00pm local time.
The truce might have been set up for ukr to fail…..I can imagine that this, or more violations gives every reason to Rus to say that Minsk etc is finally finished, there is no two way chain of command between ukr and private armies and AFU forces-no self control, failed government etc. Perhaps UKr is still not wanting any ceasefires yet—-every reason-justification for Rus to take more actions.Of course Donbass may be still wishing to pressurise Rus like this to take more action than they wish too-it would be interesting if there is evidence of communications between the republics and Moscow, any evidence of Intelligence Officers, Networks operating in these fields??
OT. Russia withdrew from Southstream, will build same capacity pipeline to Turkey. Then I guess Turkey will have a hub for sending it on to EU.
Story’s on RT/

Erdogan will get all the cheap gas he wants, possibly the same price as Germany plus the transit fees for the gas shipped to southern Europe.
Surely cheap gas has a price. The price is leave Assad alone.
Bulgaria will lose $400 million per year in transit fees and the construction jobs that would have gone into builing Southstream.
They can now build a liquefied natural gas terminal on their own dime and buy expensive liquefied gas from Russia.
