Greetings from Singapore: My father was Yugoslav (while born in Zagorje/Croatia, he always said to me: Without Yugoslavia there is war, so we stick to Yugoslavia.During the war he joined the partisans, to fight the invading armies (Germans & Italians) and the Ustasa. He got caught and sent to Buchenwald for 3 years. He was freed by the Soviet Army and was made a non-commissioned officer/translator to interrogate/purge nazis in Leipzig/Saxonia for the Soviet regional command. Eventually he gave up and decided to emigrate to Argentina and start a family in a new world.
Irrespective of above, I believe, that all of us in the West, need to express our sincere apologies and solidarity to the Serbian people. What was done to them, cannot be forgiven.
Greetings from Singapore: Back to Russia: No doubt the next months are going to be critical for Russia, with the US & EU doing everything to destabilize. An important issue is Russia itself: The rich in Russia are ‘westernized’ and like to holiday abroad and enjoy their expensive flats in Kensington & Chelsea (London). How sure is Putin about this elements? How loyal are they? What about the ‘fifth’ columns in Moscow, the usual neo-liberals and the ones active in the foreign subsidized NGO’s and ThinkTank’s. Would be interesting to hear about this, in your next articles. Keep the good work!
Mario:The rich in Russia are ‘westernized’ and like to holiday abroad and enjoy their expensive flats in Kensington & Chelsea (London). How sure is Putin about this elements? How loyal are they?
Let me just say this: there is a 5th column in Russia and they are a MASSIVE danger to Putin and all the “Eurasian Sovereignists”. The good news is that, so far, he is clearly winning and they are weaker than they have ever been, but the struggle is far from over. The other good thing is that the West’s absolutely idiotic sanctions are a) making Putin’s case for him and b) hitting precisely those untrustworthy elements.
This is a subtle and complex struggle between hardcore “Eurasian Sovereignists” and “Atlantic Integrationists” and a mass of opportunists who are really neither here nor there, but who are observing the fight waiting for one side to clearly win before fully joining it. Russia has a HUGE cadre problem, and Putin is trying very hard to solve it, often going over the head of the elites and directly to the people when needed. So far, all looks good and, to be honest, my biggest fear is that he might be killed either in an “accident” or by a crazy “lone gunman”. There are some very good people around him (Rogozin, Shaigu), but they probably don’t have what it takes to replace him has he truly is one of those amazingly gifted individuals who really can change the course of history. There are two men out there for whom I really fear: Vladimir Putin and Hassan Nasrallah. Both are quite literally irreplaceable. At least both are acutely aware of the danger they are in and are being extremely cautious, but finally it’s in God’s hands. I will come back to the recent developments in this struggle inside the Russian elites as soon as I can, I promise. Take care, The Saker

The Saker is absolutely right in observing that the “sanctions are a) making Putin’s case for him and b) hitting precisely those untrustworthy elements.”.
And other informed analysts now notice the same. In his article titled “Obama’s Ukrainian Power Grab, Sanctions and the Boomerang Effect” [http://www.globalresearch.ca/obamas-ukrainian-power-grab-sanctions-and-the-boomerang-effect/5373036], professor Dr. James Petras [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Petras] says in part:
“… US-EU sanctions while attempting to undermine Russia could actually radicalize Moscow’s domestic and foreign policy and marginalize the currently pro-Western oligarchs who had influenced the heretofore conciliatory policies of the Putin and Medvedev Administrations. … … … Western sanctions will directly hit Russian capitalists and strengthen a ‘collectivist turn’. …”
The Saker well elucidates the ongoing conflict between Eurasian Sovereignists and Atlantic Integrationists (fifth columnists) inside Russia, that war behind the scenes which eludes many an outside observer, and which Putin must fight on top of (better: in conjunction with) all his external concerns.
A tip of the cap to your father. Many Croats fought & died to rid the country of the fascist Ustasa & Germans.

Robert Snejfella, to your list of excellent books concerning the destruction of Yugoslavia might I add Fools Crusade by Diana Johnstone. The destruction of Yugoslavia was a deliberate Western plot, using the now familiar tactics of economic war, the insertion of subversive Western NGOs and the patronage of chauvinists, xenophobes, nationalists and, in the end, butchers, recruited from emigre communities and from amongst the nationalistic fascist detritus of the target states. And, in Bosnia and Kosovo, the insertion of al-Qaeda jihadist butchers, US allies since the CIA, MI6, Mossad and the Pakistani and Saudi intelligence created them. Add the strong support of Germany and the Vatican for their WW2 allies, the fascists in Croatia, Bosnia (Itzetbegovic fought with the Nazis)and Slovenia, and you could turn any multi-faith, multi-ethnic state into a charnel-house, which they did. This is human evil at its darkest, aided and abetted, as ever, by the fiends, the human filth, of the Rightwing MSM, which peddled every lie, every distortion, every demonisation of the evil Serbs, who were chosen as the fall-guys, with practised efficiency, and 100% Groupthink, as expected. Here it was that I first encountered an argument made by Rightwing vermin, that I have seen often again since. It is that in these states where ethnic strife was deliberately fomented by inserting murderers who killed in order to create this hatred (or recreate it after decades of peace)it was the fault, somehow, of the authorities who had presided over those decades of peace, that this murderousness had broken out, because those authorities had ‘suppressed’ the internecine brutality for years. So, for these moral monsters, suppressing ethnic cleansing and murder becomes a crime, while fomenting and promoting it becomes, insanely, acceptable, as some sort of ‘price’ to be paid for ‘Freedom’. One million killed in Iraq after decades of peace, sectarian inter-marriage and shared communities -‘Stuff happens’. I am no longer surprised by each new travesty, each new lie, that these evil bastards who control the world commit. They are evil incarnate, and will, barring a miracle, bring us all to disaster, very soon.

Have you bothered to read the actual op-ed? It’s really simple propaganda for the simple-minded.
Will it work? Looking at the choice of captain the Americans come up every 4 years, to steer that ship of fools, I wouldn’t be surprised. Otoh, there have been a number of articles recently claiming a widening cleavage between msm articles, and comments to them by their indoctrinatees.
I never visit the NYT site on purpose, but sometimes I click a link to an article there absent-mindedly and come up against their “cookie wall”. I’m not going to allow some Israeli propaganda tool access to my computer just so I can read their lies.

“It’s really simple propaganda for the simple-minded.”
